SHOP TR-21 WEST VILLAGE, 111 Boundary St, West End QLD 4101, Australia
We've taken the traditional Hawaiian staple food 'poke', and added our own Australian twist to it - being a local, vibrant and flavoursome array of fresh foods. We source all our produce as locally and ethically as possible. The Cheeky mission is to strengthen the minds and bodies of each and every one of you, to bring out our most optimal selves. When you are nourished, you can thrive.
Ordered a build yourself poke bowl with salmon (+$3) and decided to add extra salmon (+$8). I received a disappointingly small amount of salmon even for a regular sized amount of salmon. Crazy that I paid a $11 extra for salmon and received less than half a hand-full. Tasted nice but certainly not value for price.
Food is delicious when you get your food after a long waiting and if you get it right. Order the tuna taco and received something that might be chicken and had the kitchen staff come to my table after I asked for a swap saying that this is their tuna.
Good food and nice atmosphere at Cheeky Poke Bar, I made my own salmon bowl and it was a fun and tasty experience. Quite easy to get a table during a weekend lunch service, a food arrived quickly after ordering. Can either order at the counter or via the QR code on the table. My small bowl filled me up and felt full and not bloated afterwards which is was great. Customer service was nice and friendly. Would recommend giving it a try if you haven’t tried poke before.
A nice place to eat light and fresh. They cater for dietary restrictions and most of the time have all the options, the combinations, and variations. The food was filling. Very popular with local, didnt wait too long for food to be served. Free parking for 2 hours at local carpark
Amazing food, fresh and tasty every single time. A large menu with too many good options, but be sure to check out the soups which are great in the cooler months. Been back several times with the family and loving it every time.
I tried the signature salmon poke with added tuna and it was so good. I loved the mix of flavour and textures. I also ordered a spicy bone broth and that too a while to come out. It tasted like slightly seasoned water. A cocktail I ordered also came at the end once I’d finished eating but it was very good.
I love the nori taco's here. It was so light and fresh. I love how they have all the options, the combinations, and variations. The food was filling. Though we have been here a few times, and it has been inconsistent with the availability of some ingredients. So that could be disappointing. You can order on the app, which was convenient.
Arrived at 8:30pm before they were closing at 9pm and staff were very friendly and inviting when we ordered. Our food came in good time and it was great. All the ingredients from both our poke bowls tasted fresh and well seasoned. We had one salmon bowl and I built my own. The only inconvenience I found was that they could get larger bowls with the generous portion they give you as it was quite packed with no room. Some of my fried shallots would spill on the table everytime I tried to dig deeper. Just a thought in case you wanted to mix all your ingredients together :) But great little healthy place with accessible parking in West Village!
One of my favourite places to eat in Brisbane, the food is so healthy and delicious. Love the tacos, the bone broth and the wagyu tataki
Cheeky prices for tiny serving sizes. Have been going for many years, but have recently noticed the size reduction in the servings. The place is loud when moderately busy, hate to think what a really busy day would be like. Also please remove the step in your app for asking literally all my information. Why do you need my phone number for a bowl of salmon?
Good afternoon, I would like to raise a complaint regarding my experience at Cheeky Bowl West End today. We (3 people) visited this venue at lunch time. I did the ordering through the app. Unfortunately, you cannot build your own bowl through the app and have to order it at the counter. This makes the QR Code of limited use. I have always requested that my rice, carrots and beetroot be replaced by roasted veg mix and there haven t been any issues in the past with this. Today, I was served the meal with carrots and beetroot. The waitress said to me that she was sorry but could not do more than two changes to the signature poke bowls. I said to her that she could have asked me before preparing the meal thereby avoiding serving food that was not requested and would become waste. I have to say that she was apologetic about not being able to help me. However, I think that this rigid approach results in rather poor customer service. I have shared the picture of the wasted food with you. I made a complaint last 8 Nov 24 through their site and I haven t heard from them. Vegetarian options: Tofu
Stroll into Cheeky Poke. Smile at the staff. Know what you want to order before you sit down. Browse the menu to engage in ritual. Order two wonton chicken tacos. Look out the window at the expensive cars going by. Think about what one you will buy when you can afford it. Take notice of the wait time but also acknowledge in the exact moment the wait is worth it. Take delivery of the tacos arranged standing up on the plate. Finish them without saying a word to whoever is across from you. Enjoy the meal and atmosphere in silence. As you walk out, smile and say thank you to the staff. They smile back but immediately go back to work. Successful lunch.
A big bowl of Cheeky chicken poke, but exceptionally delicious with a myriad textures and flavours dancing across the palate. Soft chicken, crispy lettuce, chewy rice, crunchy wasabi peas (which also delivered a little heat), with a hearty scoop of avocado, sweetness from the corn and beetroot. Topped off with a low sugar ginger ale. A seriously delicious meal. Ill be back.
Good Service Foods fresh and healthy Food
Yes, they were busy, but waiting an hour for drinks wasn t good enough for how busy they were. The food was okay.
food is great but saw a poor girl cleaning up the tables in the wind and rain when i was walking pass didnt look like they had any customers for the day, (cause of bad weather) so i dont get the clean up when it was absolutely pouring. this review is more for management cause been there, did that
Yum! The salmon signature poke bowl was so damn delicious and fresh. The different components went so well together.
Tried to come in for an early dinner on a Sunday evening. Every single table (yes, every single table and booth) had dirty plates and half eaten food on them, with all 3 workers standing inside the place avoiding eye contact at all costs. Did not greet us on entry even though there was only one other customer in the building. Did not attempt to clean up anything while we walked around trying to find a place to sit. Walked out immediately. Would never go back to this location again.
Taste never disappoints there. Prices are really okay for the quality of the food. Recommend !
The hardworking gentleman wearing headphones prepared our pick up order early, before the store even opened
I ve ordered signature nachos, I ve asked for no Jalapeños on it, when I ve got my food it had Jalapeños and I ve reminded them that I ordered with NO jalapeños and I can t have the food now. They took my food back, and instead of replacing with a new one they removed the Jalapeños on top of the dish and brought it back. While eating I had a piece of Jalapeño and my allergy reaction started. It was horrible!!! I asked for a refund and I ve god my money but they told me that I should have mentioned that I have ALLERGIES!!! With a horrible ATTITUDE!!!
Delicious food and refreshing drinks at reasonable prices!! My personal favorites are their wonton Tacos and Sig. Chicken bowl.
This came highly recommended and exceeded my expectations! Lots of vegetarian and vegan options and the bowl was super fresh and filling. The restaurant was clean and had a lovely atmosphere, staff was super helpful with recommendations and suggestions - being my first time. Will definitely visit again!
Fantastic food!
Love the Lemongrass chilli coconut broth with salmon. Have it a least once a week. Delicious. Wheelchair accessibility: Ground floor
App didn t accept my discount code, but food was as usual, quite good. Great place for healthy and tasty meal.
Nice fresh meals.
Always love the fresh bowls from Cheeky Poke, especially building my own to include all my favourite ingredients! Dietary restrictions: Easy to adjust to my preferences
Great poke bowls
Popped in today for a snack, they were so good to just serve me a Kids Poke Bowl to take away. First time there and will be returning next time Im in the area. As I have Coeliac Disease I was confident they could serve me a 100% gluten free meal which was delicious. Thank You.
The staff are so lovely and the food is even better!! Such a great location with heaps of parking!! I ll definitely be back.
Amazing, highly recommend!! It was Our first time having it, we went in not knowing what to order, the staff member that served us was very welcoming and humble. He helped us order and everything was spot on as he described and it all exceeded our expectations. We had salmon poke bowl, prawn tacos and gyoza and all of it was FRESH absolutely delicious and generous. Perfect light lunch on a hot day.
what a waste of a beautiful location, service was slow and we waited ages for the food, and when we were served the waitress splashed the soup all over the plate when giving it to us. Miso soup was like watery milk soup, poke bowl lacked any real flavour, very mediocre, nothing memorable especially for the price. So sure the health was great but really cmon i could make this at home. Wouldn t come again
Recently ordered catering for my company and received food beyond our expectations. Fresh, tasty and diverse as well as labelled as requested with a last minute change, Cheeky Poke in West smashed the execution of the catering order. We highly recommend going through them again!
Delicious dinner drinks! Everything was fresh and full of flavour.
I made my own bowl. Everything is nice and fresh, wasabi ponzu has good taste too. However, edamame and capsicum is a bit frozen when it came out but didn t affect my experience. Just if I could have a spoon to eat my food would be wonderful, Chopsticks and forks are hard to pick up little grains and corns .etc It would be totally awesome if I could have a great mouthful in one spoon
Massive shoutout to the lady who personally delivered my order to my address after delivery app cancelled it She didn t had to do it and it was after her working hours. Really appreciate it! Didn t catch her name, but she is a legend!
This was the best food I ve ever had!! They were so quick and everything was super fresh :) I d highly recommend
I was very disappointed with the size of the small bowls and the cost, compared with the variety offered. Mine had a big bunch of kale, which was tasteless and cucumber... quite disappointing ... not good value
Good vegan options, quick and friendly service and affordable pricing. Vegetarian options: Vegan options available Food : 4/5 |
I love poke bowls but this one seemed me pretty average.
I ordered the food and i tell them please dont put onions and garlic. But the food they gave me still have spring onions. I just realized this when i bring the food to my home and now i cannot eat it.
Freya served me and i hope Freya serves me every time. She was very good at her job and funny too. She deserves a promotion. I will be coming back for Freya, in the least creepy way possible. The food is good too :)
Dietary restrictions: Gluten free Food
I love this place my favourite poke is the Salmon one so good.
I ordered kingfish poke. Ingredients are fresh but they really need to work on the sauce. It is very blend and has no taste. I initially poured only half of sauce but cannot taste anything so I poured the rest of it but still no taste. Another down side of this place is a customer service. No one came and asked us if everything was fine. I had to ask for some soy sauce. Then they charged me $ 1.50 for soy sauce and served me a little jar of soy sauce which I didn t need that much. When they asked me to come to the register to pay for soy sauce I told the staff that it is so blend but still not asking me about the food. So disappointed. They do have good atmosphere and serving dishes are so cute but they need to work on sauce and customer service.
Good good good!
My go-to for a healthy takeaway. Being able to relax and casually eat in the new park is a good way to enjoy any meal. Simple table ordering or App. I love to build my own bowl. Vegetarian options: Meat free bowls available with selection of soups and sides. Dietary restrictions: Build your own to have full control over your diet. I noticed there was also a selection of dietician created bowls on the menu if you needed help.
What a joke Got the beef bowl. 6 pieces of small beef literally a mm thin. A quarter of a cup of glass noodles and for some reason almost a cup of pickled ginger. $30 meal finished in 2 minutes and requiring another (somewhere else) to fill the hole in my stomach Partners dish had uncooked sweet potato and a cup of wasabi peas!? Don t know anyone who s eaten that much in one sitting. Don t waste your money
Blandest food I have ever eaten. Very overpriced considering the tiny amount of protein you get in the meals. Incredibly limited selection of drinks (pepsi max is the only soft drink?). Cant think of a place Id like to eat at less than this joint. Dietary restrictions: only place Ive ever eaten that had nachos that arent gluten free.
Quick and healthy, bowls are always fresh and delicious, but new west end prices, not old west end prices. $20 small salmon lunch bowl is a great go-to if youre in a hurry. Vegetarian options: Bowls available without meat protein. Dietary restrictions: Gluten and dairy free options. Parking: Boundary Street limited parking, free for 2 hours under West village. Kid-friendliness: Rarely kids, fortunately ;) Wheelchair accessibility: West village path is bumpy but front of venue has big space and movable tables for wheelchair access.
Had assorted tacos for lunch, this place takes tacos to a whole new level. From the choice of flavoured shells to well balanced fillings. Definitely going back to work my way through this menu.
Always good, lovely flavours
Great food Italian meatballs soup, wife had a poke bowl. Catered well for Cyciliac/Gluten-free. Delicious and good size helpings.
Such a beautiful and delicious meal. Very fresh products. Friendly and helpful staff.
I recently visited Cheeky Poke Bar in West End and I have to say, it exceeded all of my expectations. The poke bowls were absolutely delicious! The spicy kick of the green curry was just right - it added an extra dimension of flavor without being overpowering. Another thing that stood out to me was the generous portion sizes. Despite ordering small bowls, they were so large that it was difficult to finish. I couldnt help but appreciate the value for money, as even with the small bowl, I left feeling completely satisfied. Overall, I would highly recommend Cheeky Poke Bar to anyone looking for delicious, satisfying poke bowls with great value. The atmosphere was relaxed and inviting, and the staff were friendly and attentive. I cant wait to go back and try more of their menu options!
Great food. Ive been to a few restaurants like this, but this one won my heart. Taste of meals is delicious! Unlimited amount of healthy options! Very busy on weekends, so be ready to wait for a table. But in my opinion it is worth waiting! Vegetarian options: Huge selection of vegetarian meals Dietary restrictions: All options are available! You can build your own meal Kid-friendliness: Has space outside near the grass area where kids can play if they tired from health meals))) Wheelchair accessibility: Very accessible for wheelchairs and prams
Very lovely place with healthy and tasty bowls!
Fresh and delicious! A nice selection of very tasty food. Fast & efficient service.
I order a bowl with soy sauce and the vessel that holds the sauce was leaking when it s served, I told the staff and they just remove the vessel without any apologies or compensation. The whole bowl is soaked with soy sauce and so salty that it is inedible.
Unique signature dishes which taste delicious with a hint of Asian inspiration. A go to whenever I feel nutritionally deficient. The poke bowls are the best value for money; skip the noodle soups.
Used to love this place however it seems like the quality has gradually gone down and prices up.
Excellent service, I am a coeliac and forgot to tell the chef, so they prepared my meal again no problem. Delicious, quick, friendly service. I will visit again
Tofu poke bowl was good, I am happy to come back here. It can definitely get better though.
Im conflicted here on location. I ordered my food through the app and it came fairly quickly. Serving size was great and the bowl was super tasty. However, for my friends they waited 40 minutes for theirs to come and got served takeaway containers instead of a dine in plate like me. Same menu item and I was left around waiting for theirs to arrive. Had to ask the staff twice to follow it up and there was not much of an apology provided either which soured the wait a little more. I want to come back since its in such a good spot and the food is good but not too inclined when the service is subpar.
Awesome option for catering! Had an event at work where Sam and his team managed to deliver everything we needed on time, fresh and well organised.
Food was simply amazing!! The portions sizes are great and everything was super delicious. The service is also awesome, together with the whole atmosphere. 10/10! I will definitely come back!
Good food, great service
Ok, you get 5 stars from me. Above my expectations. It was a bubbly friendly atmosphere even though a Saturday lunchtime, no ques but there were plenty of people there. This Village vibe thing in West End is great, I love spending time there. Nice friendly staff greeted and we chose a smaller booth so we could chat. Ordering food is at the bar, no fuss, order taken quickly and the food came out quickly. Spicy beans, so yummy, and a chicken nachos with spicy sauce, it looked great and was totally excellent! The other dish was a Prawn Poké which was also perfect, regular size, just enough but I was starving! All together a good experience, I d return and recommend.
The best poke bowls in brisbane
Awesome food. Was pleased there were physical menus available. Tired of the QR code menu on offer Parking: West Village is Our number one spot in Brisbane and Cheeky Poke our favourite Poke restaurant in Brisbane
Delicious poke bowls fairly priced. Bowls are packed with food and are a good sized
We had a lovely time here. Their green curry is yummy
After seeing a few of these around we decided to go for lunch Honestly the worst dining out experience I have had in a long time Overpriced , no flavour and when I returned the meal after only tasting it to the staff . They were not interested ! To top it off this lunch cost $50 and I left very disappointed and hungry as the food was literally inedible
Super fast, delicious and affordable. In a great area with outdoor seating perfect for a sunny day lunch or dinner dates.
My partner and I visited a couple of weeks ago hoping to order our faves - the miso pho and the fitaz soup. Disappointingly, they were both removed from the menu so we tried two of the new soups. My partner ordered the Italian meatball soup and I grabbed the minestrone. The meatball soup looked amazing but lacked flavour. The minestrone was nice but inauthentic. We ended up getting a few tacos to finish on a good note. Please bring back the good old soup menu!
Food, Service and Atmosphere ticked all boxes, though some of the large Poke bowls are on the expensive for the amount of protein you get. I would definitely recommend Cheeky Poke Bar!
Food is lovely but its not nice to sit at a dirty table & wait for ages for it to be cleared & cleaned. Wait staff need big baskets to clear tables in bulk.
Food is yum but bit too healthy
I was looking for healthy food with good quality ingredients and great taste near my work in south brisbane. Im glad I found this restaurant. I also love that I can customize my poke bowl
The food is actually surprisingly salty, but overall it is not bad.
Today I ventured into West Village and my sisters and I went to Cheeky Poke Bar for lunch. We had salmon sashimi poke bowl, while I had the kingfish. We were somewhat alarmed when they said soy sauce was an extra $1.50, but when I went in to get some, the guy gave a whole ceramic container full and was super sweet and friendly I couldn t help but walk away smiling DEFINITELY will go back there! Vegetarian options: Tofu or mushroom poke bowl Wheelchair accessibility: It s flat on the ground floor, so you can wheel on in!
Pretty tasty tacos
Very aesthetic interior, the food is yummy. There are vegetarian options. The meals are highly customisable and you can choose what ingredients you want, which is great. The food took a while to come out, which was surprising as there was only 2 other customers at the time. The service was ok, some of the staff are not as friendly Vegetarian options: Some vegetarian options
Delicious!! Shame about the unfriendly service
Ive been here a few times already. Every time the food has been fresh, delicious and beautifully presented. Just love how you can custom order your meals just to your liking. Service is friendly, quick and efficient. I love the outdoor dining area, but we had an indoor table this time due to the windy weather, but the meal was just as enjoyable! Keep up the great work Cheeky Poke Bar, I will be back soon and will be recommending this place to my friends and family.
Lovely cheerful staff
We went at an off peak time (3 PM) and it took an hour to get our food. The portions were also very small for the price
Poor service Vibe was off Way overpriced for the tiny portion size ($22) Food was meh I do not recommend.
Nice to have a local Healthy fresh alternative that you can have every day
This changed the way I thought about Poké bowls, usually they are a bit bland to me but this place, wow flavour explosion. Cant recommend this place high enough for the food here!
Yum
Best poke bowl I ve ever had! Beautiful atmosphere, friendly staff. Incredibly delicious food
Niceeeeee poke bowl, fresh and tasty. very popular place, hard to find a seat when is lunch time.
A good spot for fresh ingredients and the ability to make your own dish. When they are busy I find their tacos to be a little sloppy, a lot less meat, thicker cuts, which surprisingly aren t as tasty as expected. Recommend the restaurant staff up during peak hours, as prices stay the same and quality seems to decrease with volume.
This restaurant is very unprofessional. I ve placed 3 orders in the last week with all the orders either missing items or only receiving half the food. They do not read the special instructions for food allergies etc they added a ingredient we requested to not have specifically. They don t add enough broth to cover your soup in a bowl. The chicken was as dry! When calling to speak to the manager there response was to request a refund through the delivery service even when admitting the restaurant was at fault. Bit unusual but they seem to have a real problem in giving up there precious biscuits that they charge $8.00 for . They just don t turn up or only one and it s the wrong flavour. I should have learnt the first time but sadly it s taken me 3 orders to realise this restaurant is just outright unprofessional and a rip off, don t spend your good money at this place.
The bowls are huge! I always build my own which is a great feature for those with food allergies. Favourite poke bowl place!
Omg....the most amazing poke bowl from West End!! No other poke bowl place will ever match theirs. Very generous portions, fresh veg, lovely salmon and delicious sauces and to top it off, heaps of gluten free options. They also have gluten free cookies for dessert that are absolutely incredble! Wish they had a restaurant in the Gold Coast. Guess Ill be coming to Brisbane to visit a bit more often!
The food was amazing, two of the best meals we have had in a long time, so fresh a such a variety. My husband said it was like a party in your mouth! Charlene was so helpful when ordering and the barman was equally helpful. We will definitely be back! Great venue!
Absolutely delicious!
Big fan of the poke bowls here! Well priced as well. Only suggestion - beer jugs over priced and a little strange. Just get a schooner!
Ive been to this restaurant many times a month and have never had any complaints. But today, Friday 18th of March at the Cheecky Poke restaurant in the West End, something happened to me that I think shouldn t happen again. I arrived at 8:33pm (to be exact) and the staff told that I could only order takeaway when the restaurant closes at 9pm. Nowhere does it say that this is the case and, besides, its something that has never happened to me before as closing a place 30 minutes early just because the staff want to.. is not very professional. When I spoke to the manager she claimed that they were under staff something quite ridiculous because if you are under staff (I say this in inverted commas because there were at least 5 people working there that I could count) and you decide to open, you do it with all the consequences. Also, it should be added that a table had just been served 2 minutes ago and, as I said before, it was 30 minutes before the restaurant closed, which was more than enough time to serve us and seat us at a table. It seemed to me something very indecent towards a client and I think it is necessary to write it down here so that everyone can take it into account.
Today I went to cheecky for dinner with my partner. We arrived at the restaurant at 8:33pm and the restaurant closed at 9pm (enough time to be served and seated). When we approached they told us that they could only give us takeaway (I repeat, there were 30 minutes left before closing time). A minute later a couple came in and the staff told to them that the restaurant was already closed (it was again 8:35pm and there were 25 minutes left until closing time). One minute later a gentleman came in and they also told him that the restaurant was closed. At that moment I went to tell him that the restaurant do not close until 9pm, so he went back in to say that and they offered him a take away. The situation seemed to me to be very bad on the part of the manager and the staff, as they claimed to they did not have enough workers (there were 5 people working at the time) and only a couple of bowls to make so it doesn t make any sense for me.
Just read the most recent reviews about the restaurant closing early . I wish people would understand that kitchen closes 30 minutes or even an hour before the restaurant closes up. Half an hour isn t enough time for people to check in, be seated, order and wait for food/drink and then eat. Maybe for fast food restaurants but, don t tell front of house staff you re that quick to dine in. Anyways, just dined in and damn you guys get some traffic on a Tuesday night! Was okay but the staff looked a bit flustered. Cocktails weren t amazing but seafood was decent. Was not expecting a big serve of sashimi, filled me up.
Absolutely delish . Could barely finish!
Its fine.
You guys are 0 from 2. Not sure youll be given the chance to strike out. Several weeks ago you forgot our dine in order until we asked when it was coming after a long wait. This time we waiting almost 50 minutes for our takeaway order of just 2 bowls when it really didnt appear busy. Food was decent so you can have 2 stars.
Epic.
My Signature Mushroom Poke Bowl was delicious! Ordering was easy with a QR code on the table so you can remain seated and order and pay. Service was friendly and good.
Tacos were good, enjoyed both Nori and wonton skins for the taco shells. Not too sure if 3 tacos are filling enough however- I felt like they only put like 3 pieces of fish each taco. It felt like more of an entree. My friend s poke bowl was a good size though and she looked like she enjoyed it!
I asked for my margarita to be rimed with coconut, after 10 minutes went by I went inside and asked for my friends beer.. the girl explained the wait was due to no coconut, I said a LITTLE BIT of salt was fine. Drink was horrible, as I approached the end I realised the off taste was salt! She intentionally put spoon fulls of salt in my drink! Didn t want to complain in front of my friend
We loved it! Great cocktails. Loved the tacos and poke bowls. Good portion
Lives up to their name. For some arbitrary reason you cannot order a small size Poke Bowl at dinner. Small is lunch only, which is vaguely indicated by a grey font disclaimer at the footer of the menu. For a venue with already steep prices, this was a cheeky upsell. Toping this off was an additional $2 charge to change the sauce and add another. Quality was what I would expect for a $23.9 poke bowl.
The food is good but rather pricey and the service is EXTREMELY slow. Considering that everything I ordered was raw (raw tuna and veggies which they ve already prepped), it takes them over 20 minutes each time to finish. It s not an isolated incident - I ve been here enough times that I know to at least eat something before waiting for my food which always seem to take forever to come.
Really not that tasty and bland overall I would say
I usually don t review, but this was my first time at Cheeky Poke. I ordered a Wagyu bowl and it had glass noodles. The dish itself was tasty and beautiful presentation. However, I choked on a ~20cm string that was in my noodles, and halfway down my throat. I told and showed the staff who offered to remake my dish. Instead, I asked for a refund which they were happy to provide. I m glad the staff resolved it. However, I think it s important to bring this up so others know and to be careful. Hopefully, the chefs at Cheeky Poke will be more careful next time. The staff told me that the string came from the glass noodle packaging used.
Great Poke Bowls - super flavours & nutrition
We usually have lunch here once a week with the family. Yesterday, we decided to have a late lunch at 3 pm. The restaurant was empty, but it was hard to find a table at. The tables had dirty dishes and food on the floor. We decided to go to the back booth, but the edge of the chair had the edges exposed, and both my daughter and I cut our legs. The reaction of the staff was none never checked on us. No apologies nothing.
The food here is great but I find the service to be slow. I decided to sit down because of the long wait. They don t even call out your name if you order takeaway so my order was just sitting on the bench for me to collect.
I m not crazy about franchises, but this restaurant is a creative twist on poke/tacos/nachos that is new. My rating would have been a 4.7/5 if possible. The wonton and nori taco shells were an interesting change from corn or flour tortillas. A keto option made of cauliflower or pulses might be fun. My mate had a poke bowl with black rice, which was perfectly cooked and flavourful. So many sauce choices, all dairy free. How about a keto mayo (they sell it at Coles ). I had both veg taco choices: Mushroom with beetroot hummous and the tofu with miso tahini. Both were good. The tofu was diced raw and would have been a little more interesting had it been marinated and grilled. As well, upon leaving I saw the gorgeous pumpkin in the prep area, so there are great ingredients that could make much more options (pumpkin with peanut sauce?). Extremely busy on a Friday at 7:15 pm. All tables filled, staff running to clear dishes constantly. We were lucky that a table in the back which had booked cancelled. Downsides: 1) Ordering through the QR code on the table is good but incomplete. My mate could not select the Small version of his bowl, I couldn t find the margarita in the drinks list, and unless you have data, there is no wifi available to order on. Perhaps their app works better. 2) Our QR code said table 19, but the table # was 18. 3) It took a long time for the food to arrive, however as I mentioned above, it was killer busy, and we watched them diligently churning out gorgeous plates from the kitchen. The server did thank us for waiting. I counted 5 staff, so they have recruited where many have not. I was very lucky we had picked up some new keto snacks to try while we waited, and had very good company in my dining partner. 4) Broths are all beef bone or chicken based. It s 2022- a vegetarian option made with Wakame, carrots, onions and celery is a no brainer, cheap to produce and with some Miso stirred in before serving, easy. I would return and design my own selection from the build your own menu as the freshness and ingredient quality are excellent. Staff is friendly and helpful. Cutlery, napkins and serving pieces (bowls and taco racks) are all top notch (well above most similar restaurants . And- I ve got to try one of their margaritas!! The options are endless, very fresh and tasty, and wonderfully clean. Save room for dessert- Anita s Gelato is next door, and the lineup moves very quickly!
Staff are not happy which degrades the experience. Also the nachos on the Cheeky menu is not really that good. Chips are too hard, theres no tomato or cheese (even vegan) in the recipe.
Huge portion size, delicious meal, prompt service. Highly recommend for a healthy and light dining out option. The cost of the meals were proportionate to the size of it. We ordered the nachos, chicken poke bowl, thai soup and everyone enjoyed their meals.
Lovely, healthy choice, friendly staff, beautiful cocktails
Me and my friend were here on Saturday morning, it wasn t busy though but don t know what happened with the staffs?! I don t feel welcome at all, no one said hi to us. It s was not what I expected to receive when walking in to a restaurant! However,3 stars for the food, It was good and delicious!
DO NOT GET STEVES BOWL. we waiting way too long watching everyone else around us get their food although we arrived first. Steve s bowl was especially disappointing for a whopping $20 for a bowl of overly salty rice as it had way too much soy sauce and a bad salmon rice ratio. It was sickening and for the price, all you get is salmon, rice and a few pieces of scallion, it was also smaller than every other bowl even though the price was the same . I know that that salmon is gonna cause quite the stir tonight and maybe even tomorrow. Table was wobbly and not clean when we arrived. However, we got a free serving of sweet potatoe side which was an accident but we took it. However, salmon was fresh and generous.
Staff were not very friendly and then they left half the ingredients out of my friends bowl that she payed extra for! Not very happy
Lovely place with cute interior design and good food. I really like how you can personalise the bowls!
What a fabulous place to have lunch. Fresh food, super cold drinks and a team that just gets on with making your little creation in a beautiful location. The food was fresh, the sauce delicious and nothing seems to much trouble for the amazing team at West End
Really tasty poke bowl, I recommend!
It was so yummy Im still dreaming about it. I had the tom yum in a takeout and they packaged it so nicely that not a single drop of the soup spilled. The vibe of the restaurant itself was modern and had a nice view of the garden.
This place offers some of the best poke bowls around. Always very chill and friendly vibe. I recommend the Salmon Bowl, the Tom Yum and the taco Tuesdays ($6). Healthy options galore and very tasty. Love this place!
Very healthy food and at a fairprice , but service a bit average
Best Poke I have EVER had. The Kingfish Taco.. omg I spoke about it for a week and my partner was sick of hearing it. Cant wait to go back!
Stopped in for a quick and easy lunch and was not disappointed by the poke bowls. I ordered a make your own small tuna and a wonton shell beef taco while my partner got the large size pre set kingfish off the menu. The bowls came out extremely aesthetically pleasing and crammed full of good. A quick mix and they were ready to go, the flavour were fantastic and reinforced our decision to stop in for lunch. If youre thinking about ordering the taco, Id not and just go for the bigger size bowl. It was regrettably forgettable and didnt have the same gusto as the bowls.
The mushroom and tofu tacos are to die for!! Not many vegan options, but just enough to keep the belly full! Vegetarian options: Vegan!
From the moment we stood exploring the menu, we were greeted warmly by a friendly staff member, who took us on a more in depth guide of the menu. Our taste buds were tantalised. We ordered Poke bowls, one with the Octopus and another with the King prawns. The food was fresh and really well presented. The staff were attentive and friendly. A great experience for a night out with beautiful garden surrounds outside. A worthwhile visit.
Fresh and inviting atmosphere. Friendly staff. A little confusion as to what processes were when we first arrived re seating and ordering as it was our first visit. The QR ordering from the table would not work but ordering at the counter was easy with friendly service. The poke bowl and soups were delicious and had great fresh ingredients. We would absolutely recommend this little spot and will be returning.
Took them 15 minutes to serve when there was one table ordering at 2:40pm. Food was so so and the gyoza were soggy. Waitresses were not professional either.
It was shut ! Had to go to newstead was fab
Shotout to the friendly young chap with light coloured hair recommending the white rose and goji tea! So friendly. Also $5 taco Tuesdays A+
Healthy, delicious, lite, fun(to be able to choose ingredients) and cool place to hang out with friend or love one
A bit overpriced for what you get and the poke bowls resemble more of a random pile of vegetables and protein without much thought put into the taste of the dish as a whole. For e.g. King Fish bowl was overshadowed by the pineapple and the sauce was not enough to cover the taste, making the bowl taste like individual vegetables flavoured with pineapples. Beef tataki was also just plain sourness. The place and dishes do look nice so its a good place for ig. Hope the place improves with its food quality in the future
Food = good , Service = Not so good. The Nori tacos are really really good, highly recommend trying them out. Service was not good, we were the only customers in the shop and it took forever to get our drinks, we had to get up and ask for them, staff forgot. Then our food was left on the pass, I had to get up and ask for it, food was cold. I also ask for no chilli on the edamame (for child), got served with chilli,. If staff could be a bit more attentive then this place would be great.
Amazing food and very reasonable price
Lovely place, the outdoor seating is so nice! I tried the bowl, the quality of ingredients is really good, fresh and the portion is decent. I m curious to try the rest on the menu..
Innovative fresh dishes in a light and bright setting. The concept is as stated in its name; fresh poke bowls. For those unfamiliar with poke bowls it has nothing to do with Pokémon. Poke bowls are a style of dish apparently derived from Japanese fishing boats off Hawaii. They amount to a bowl containing a variety of fresh foods including a protein some carbohydrates, some veggies and some flavouring sauces which are presented unmixed in a bowl for the diner to then mix to their tastes. When the flavours are right the outcome is delicious and light and fresh. Cheeky poke nails this across a wonderful range of dishes including vegan and vegetarian choices. It also allows you the option to create your own (their options have been too good to deviate from). There are fun other things too like nori taco shells and dumpling pastry taco shells, soups and my personal favourite Taro crisps with wasabi aioli. It s a nice light friendly venue accessible to all. The flavours are probably a little sophisticated for most children although they do have a kids menu that I ve been able to feed to my 7 year old. My only complaint is their new bowls are a bit shallow for easy mixing. I ve been back a few times.
Overall quite happy with lunch. Coconut soup taste is not strong, so abit disappointed. I expect it should be stronger taste. The lunch special king fish bowl taste quite nice and fresh. The taco, mushroom is taste not that good ( maybe just my preference ) but the octopus taste is really tasty and soft to eat.
A star each for the 2 Salmon Nori Tacos we had which were great. The kingfish bowl was overshadowed by too many raw veges. Gorgeous surrounds but the service was dismal. It was like the lights were on but nobody home. Empty restaurant, dirty tables. Inexperienced young staff who are clueless about hospitality. FLAT!!!
Went there looking for a quick, nutritious lunch while waiting for my car to be serviced. Had the chicken bowl. Delicious, healthy, filling. Good value and a good meal!
One of my favorite restaurants in Brisbane. Healthy, fresh and always delicious!!! Good value for money and they have kombucha.
Service is absolutely pathetic!!
Very fresh ingredients, love the nori Tacos, kingfish and wagyu tacos are must try. Great value on taco Tuesdays and nacho Wednesdays! My fav poke place in Brisbane!
Great service and delicious selection of food. The staff were friendly and helpful
Cheeky is a franchise, yet we have the option to compose our own poke bowl or taco. I m not an expert on poke bowls, and so I got the impression that at Cheeky the concept is to put a whole heap of different foods together in a bowl and attempt to bring it together with mayonnaise. My bowl had salmon, delicious by the way, raw red cabbage, raw kale, an egg, saffron rice, cucumber, chips, wakame, pickled ginger and mayonnaise. I must say it s not my idea of serving a delicious meal, but it was healthy and it did me good. If you look for authentic Japanese cuisine you may be surprised to see taco on the menu. The tacos do look good though.
Waited more than 20 minutes for this. Otherwise they have good atmosphere.
Really good, fresh foods generous serve . You wont be disappointed
Very fresh ingredients, great flavours. I made my own salmon bowl and especially enjoyed the pumpkin base. Great air-conditioning too!
Incredible!
An oasis in a desert
I had the signature poke bowl chicken was $18.90 ... I watched her make it/ throw it together in 5 seconds, reminded me of a noodle hot box where everything comes pre cut, even the shredded chicken looked and tasted from a packet. Nothing held together. Absolutely tasteless. Our table was wiped but dam sticky. You might want to train your staff how to wipe a table down properly. Wouldnt recommend unless every else is shut. Sorry guys but that was the worst meal I ever had.
Best poke bowls in Brisbane. Fantastic service, meals ready quickly and reasonable price for such a big portion.
Just ok. Not suit with winter
Fantastic tacos. Much better than I had anticipated!
Went on $5 Taco Tuesdays. Had the kingfish taco and chicken taco on Nori shell. They were both delicious and the Nori shell made it absolutely amazing Kingfish was very fresh and tender, the chicken was good but I prefered the fish. Also had a salmon poke bowl and it was yummy but I had to say the taco was the main highlight!
I enjoyed crispy nori taco shell but chicken and tofu was cold. It would be better if they seoson or deep friying ...
Yummy nori tacos! The salmon and tuna were great. Such good quality food and nice views here.
They sure know a good poke in here. It real good food and I reckons I will make my triumphant return in the foreseeable future
Only value for money on taco Tuesday
Delicious, fresh and fast!
Cute place and the food was good!
This is a wonderful little place to eat. The food is fresh, fast and beautifully presented. Located in the new west end village precinct, its just a few steps off the main road and worth checking out.
The rice with the Salmon Poke Bowl was dry, but everything else was so flavourful and saucy. And that 64(?) degree egg was amazing and different.
Wonton tacos are fantastic
Best Poke in Brisbane
This is one of the more expensive Poke joints in West End. I wouldve got about 4 gyoza in my regular bowl, which just doesnt seem fair considering the price. Flavours were good
I little bit slow but great food. Fresh and flavourful.
Very meh. Looks amazing but food is expensive and just good... nothing special.
The food was poorly presented, small in size and sashimi was tasteless and not fresh. Three dishes and wine cost $100+, expensive. And then we were rushed to finish and move.
I think Im just not a big poke bowl fan. Take it or leave it.
So yum and healthy
