Covent Garden - Gin Bar & Restaurant in West End

Lunch entree dish. Baring the meat and bread and cauliflower (which I didnt touch) everything was soaked in vinegar, so there wasnt much choice of veggies if you dont like vinegar. Main pasta seemed half cooked, the chips were so loaded with salt they were inedible (most of use tried a couple and left them) and the roasted onion was raw and hard to cut. (really needed a steak knife) The savior was the lamb, it was very nice. Oh and the decor was nice.

There was no toilet paper in these bathrooms. It was difficult to have fun and drink knowing bathroom visits werent an option at this venue.

The staff absolutely make this place, they are the best! The venue is a really nice space to be in and the menu is superb. Great spot for date night and for any groups that have a celiac (100% celiac friendly). Dietary restrictions: It is 100% celiac friendly!

Very cute place! Refreshing drink and tasty, filling food.. loved the Mapo Tofu. The waiter we had was also very sweet and offered to take a photo of us as we were taking some of each other for our Father s Day outting today! Vegetarian options: The tofu was flavoured amazingly, great portions of both that and the rice. The baby carrots and asparagus were cooked nicely and seasoned just enough!

It was a beautiful place we had a 50th party and the garden venue is stunning with plants on the ceiling, very cozy for our group of 50-60 ppl. The food was delicious & the waiter was friendly and professional.

We went there on Saturday night - its Monday now and Im still feeling sick after the horrendous meal that was served up. The food is so bad I dont know where to begin! Party of 8 for my sisters birthday and only one person found some of the food edible. It was basically food from Coles deli - which we all know is highly processed, usually infected with something and just not safe for human consumption, yet thats what this restaurant feels is ok to serve. The Mezze platter - 2/3 was badly fermented and vinegary vegetables that all tasted the same, there was a little Coles deli sun-dried tomatoes, tough/stringy artichokes, olives & dry fetta with some stale sliced bread, It should be called the Fermented Platter.The trio of dips had only 1 dip - 1 tablespoon of hummus (Chris or Black Swan brand from Coles), the other 2 - NOT dips - were - 1 tbsp of pesto, 1 tbsp of beetroot jam. And they added some white rice crackers (they didnt even bother to choose the more special brown rice ones!). The chips came with Praise mayonnaise (not aioli) and Masterfoods tomato sauce. The pumpkin gnocchi was translucent glue-like clumps (basically corn starch and water) that you could chew of swallow - they just stuck in your mouth. The salmon (which was very bland, slightly smelly - possibly Aldi), chicken (under-seasoned and possibly no chicken there really) and coleslaw (drizzled with Praise mayonnaise) were somewhat edible offerings. And the waiter got two orders wrong because he was too concerned with his persona and looks than he was with listening to the order. We tried it because we were hungry but overall - 7 of us agreed that it was the worst meal weve ever had!!! Dont go here if you value quality food and value your health. Its actually quite offensive for a restaurant to serve up packaged food from a supermarket as if it were made on site. To not even make your own hummus....they should be utterly ashamed. I really think any good reviews about this restaurant are fake or BOTS.

Gluten-free kitchen, we were short on time, so we only got to taste a few plates from the menu. But all the dishes were great. Staff were superb, friendly, and just the right amount of attentive. I visited Covent Garden to catch up with a friend I hadnt seen in a while, and the food was to die for! I highly recommend the pork belly - whatever they do to it is magic, because I dont normally like pork, but that was amazing! severely watered down drinks in the bottomless package, went for bottomless, shared 5 jugs between 2 people equalling 10 drinks each!! TEN, and both left without feeling even slightly tipsy! the chef s grazing board was disgusting, and 90% of the items on it are pickled and have no business being paired together extremely disappointing way to spend mother s day

We love coming here because I LOVE my gin, and my bestie is coeliac and she can eat everything! Menu changes seasonally which sucks because the Crab Croquettes were spectacular and we always check the menu online to see if theyre back before we book. The lamb is also spectacular. Get the lamb! Went for dinner on Friday night. Had a great waiter and great service from him. He was that GOOD that he knew he shouldn t be asking how was our food. We got a salmon dish which was $54 and extremely disappointing, the salmon was extremely dry where it had been cooked to the point of turning white, and came with a bland cabbage roll and a papaya salad with whole cloves of raw garlic in it. Cocktails were meh. We re with friends and they described gnocchi as snot on a plate. Best to spend your money elsewhere as there are many nice restaurants in west end way above this standard

Great service and atmosphere. The waiter was very attentive and kind. Endless options of gin, but they also have other kind of drinks. The beer on tap was really good, although they only serve schooners and not pints. The food was also very good.

We called in for lunch and had a Ploughmans Platter which we really enjoyed, quality ingredients.

Bar tender was quite rude when I asked for my husbands drink dry, stating that they didn t have ginger ale, only ginger beer. Ok. When we were taken to our booked table we were told by another waiter that we couldn t sit there, so we sat elsewhere. We ordered 3 dishes and they were so salty that we could not eat them, so we left. We drove from the GC to eat here. What a waste of petrol

I went for bottomless brunch here with a large group for my birthday yesterday. We had an excellent experience. Cuba was super helpful in organising the booking for me and explaining how it all worked. The atmosphere was gorgeous, drinks were really tasty and I was pleasantly suprised that all the food was ceoliac friendly. Our server Ebony was lovely and very prompt in serving us whenever we needed our drinks topped up or to order food. Thank you to the Covent Garden team.

Shared the ploughman platter with a friend and there was plenty of meats, cheese and pickles. Just ask for more bread if needed, we weren t charged for it. Pleasantly surprised to find out everything on the menu is suitable for coeliacs, I am not one but it s good to know this is an option for people.

What can I say. The service from the moment we walked in the door was friendly and attentive. The two waiters we had at our table were brilliant. The atmosphere was open but at the same time private. But the food was next level. We had the Feasting Table. The entree plater was a nice blend of the platters on the main menu which was enjoyable. Then came the entree/mains. We had pumpkin gnochi with got chees and Lamg and baked onions and a side of fries. Thes two dishes were nothing short of amazing. The flavours and textures in the the gnochi were beautiful and the lamb melted in your mouth and tasted succulent. This was the best meal I have had in some time. Well done Covent Garden!!!!! Had an incredible night here for a function. The staff were lovely, accommodating and helpful, special shout out to Shona our fantastic bar tender. The food was incredible! Canapes were a decent size and everyone was very well fed. Will be back (again).

We had a function in the houlburn room over the weekend. The communication with Cuba in the months leading up was great, he made the process very easy and stress free. On the night the space was great, we had a few technical issues but the support and help from the staff was excellent. The food was delicious, the service was incredible from the bar and wait staff. My mother really enjoyed her party and we would absolutely recommend the venue to anyone. The holburn was intimate and had a great vibe! Thank you to Cuba and the Covent Garden team for a fantastic night.

Delicious food, lovely atmosphere, service 10/10

Really nice people, friendly and attentive. As a group of 8 we had the feast and no issues with quality and quantity of food. The lamb in particular was excellent and worth a visit back just for that. Massive choice of drinks, in particular the range of gins and staff very happy to explain, describe the various drinks. As a group we have had drinks on a previous visit and enjoyed the attention of the staff so much we decided to book in for the feast. Very pleased we made that decision and we will definitely make further visits.

Our Sunday lunch with a group of friends at Convent Garden was really great. The outdoor/indoor seating at the back is very pretty with ample seating for groups. There is plenty of great food to choose from for everyone, including those with dietary issues that required GF, DF and sesame free. The drinks list was also great - huge even! The staff were very attentive, regularly providing more water and checking on everyone s needs. We all really enjoyed our lunch at Convent Garden & highly recommend it for a casual lunch with friends. It s a hidden gem! Dietary restrictions: Fantastic for those with dietary concerns.

Been a few times for a nice meal and we decided to try the high tea for my daughters birthday. By far the Worst high tea I ever had, and major disappointment for my daughter on her birthday food was dry, small portions and flavours that didnt match ..first high tea I even tried that doesnt include tea. if you cant do something properly ,please dont!

Off the bat Covent garden loses a star for never answering their phone. we have tried several times to book a table here and they never answered the phone. Tried numerous times over the course of a few days and no-one ever answers. no reply on their social media either, so if you want to make a booking, all I can say is good luck! We got lucky enough on this visit to be able to get a table just by showing up. staff were great. very welcoming and helpful. The menu is 100% celiac friendly which is great for those that need to live the gluten free lifestyle. Menu isnt overly big, but what we had was great quality and tasted fantastic. Was very surprised by their limited non-alcoholic drink options. No standard coke / Pepsi. Only soft drinks were lemonade, Pepsi Max and lemon, lime and bitters. The cocktail we did try was amazing though. Overall a good place for celiacs with nice food and great cocktails, just dont try book over the phone. Such a hidden gem in South Brisbane. Our waiter Rob is always welcoming and friendly. The owner Cuba is amazing. Food is 1st class We always come here on our trips to Brisbane. Covent Garden is easily our favourite place to eat, coeliac friendly which is amazing We come a lot from the Sunshine Coast We enjoy the food, the atmosphere, just feel the new chef isnt as good as the last Had to return the Crispy Porj Belly a few times as it was soggy.

Pretty pricey for a $37 per person high tea with some small nibbles and tea charged separately. Service was good but for that price definitely need to offer more food

What a lovely find. There is a lovely green area at the top end of the place. The bar staff were very vigilant and worked to make their cocktails perfectly. We had a share plate, which was good. Although It would have worked better with some Turkish bread instead of toast.

The Gin selection is incredible and the cocktails are delicious and beautiful. The food is so fresh and morish. We had a wonderful time and the waiter was incredibly knowledgeable on all the different Gins and matched us perfectly with the most perfect picks for each of our unique personal tastes! We went for an early dinner then stayed for a birthday pretty late into the night here and from start to finish, this place is amazing. The absolutely incredible personal service that we received on its own , is enough to make us come back again and again. Im not going to worry about writing how fantastic each of the 13 different kinds of cocktails that we tasted was, because getting 5 stars should fill that blank for you, just know that each of them were as great as the service. Do yourself a favor, book an Uber and a table and have a great night here with some friends. Thanks for an amazing night guys.

Not very friendly, not much seating available, and tonic water tasted flat (two of us tried it and it was decidedly flat despite what the staff member was trying to tell us about that not being possible). Well try the place again, though, as previous visits were much better.

they make a good classic negroni, and a very good shiraz gin negroni. which is basically all you need in life. big fan. 11/10

What a wonderful place to celebrate my birthday. The staff were fabulous, the food was amazing and the gin selection was incredible! I love that you can purchase take-home drinks and the ambience was nice too. Theres a great photo op wall out the back which we definitely made the most of. The bartender offered me a little birthday gift which was delicious. The server had some yummy suggestions of drinks for me as Im a bit picky and they were spot on. Some of the drinks were better with soda and some with the tonic. It was all really well priced and we were very happy with our bill at the end. Next time we go we will definitely be trying some of the large glasses with the extra specialised garnishes. My MIL said the espresso Martini was the best one shed ever had and she loves that drink! I love that the menu is a selection of share plates and entre type meals and that the kitchen is coeliac safe - we even asked the chef as some of us were shocked and couldnt believe it! You couldnt even tell! The drinks menu has a key and shows the different tastes of the gins which I thought it was a great additive. I will definitely be coming back as many times as I can and be sharing the word as often as I can. Also to add, the duck was delectable! I went here for my friends birthday and we got the bottomless brunch . Rob was an AMAZING host!!! So kind and friendly - We ended up consuming every beverage option and the charcuterie board!! SO YUM and such good fun. For just $49 per person it s such a steal!

An absolute banger of a night enjoyed with good friends. So many great menu items that I will be visiting soon so I can enjoy those that we didnt get to. Their gin knowledge is amazing. Rely on the staffs recommendations as they are passionate about their gin. Everything was classy and stylish. This place was amazing! It s such a struggle to find good gluten free places that go beyond a pizza base or burger bun! Covent Gardens entire menu is gluten free and they do not compromise the taste or quality in doing so. The food was absolutely incredible, it s very rare that I go somewhere gluten free and enjoy everything I ve ordered. We had the baby squid (delicious, crispy and not that rubbery chewy that you often find), the pork belly (melts in your mouth), the fried chicken (tastes like sweet and sour pork, one of my favourites) & their mushroom Aranchini balls. We ll definitely be back as they had sold out of a few items I was looking forward to on the menu. But lovely experience there! They even gave us a free goodie bag which was so unexpected and lovely! Cured meats board was excellent. Pink lemonade was a delicious alcohol-free options and Pimms was sensational. Service was a bit slow, but good once we were settled.

Arrived at 07:45 and was told we cannot order food as kitchen closes at 07:45. Satisfaction of two seperate staff members on their face for saying no priceless in a bad way. Another place which doesn t understand world hospitality. Especially when business are struggling and as locals we try to support business in the area is simply not acceptable.

We had a fabulous High Tea at Covent Gardens. My friend is coeliac and it was SO good to take her somewhere where she could eat everything! The food was SO tasty and the drinks were really pretty! The service was so friendly and all in all a great experience.

NEVER ORDER THE FEASTING PLATE! They will serve you everything in the kitchen that is about to expire. Our table was served huge heaps of pickled veg, with 2 tbsp of hummus, burnt toast and old feta. Also worth mentioning was the sweet potato gnocchi that was coated in slimy, greasy flour. But the piecè de résistance was the lamb shoulder that looked and tasted like briquettes of coal. Never have we seen lamb that was cooked so overly well done that you LITERALLY couldn t cut it with a knife. No joke. Could not cut it. Could not chew it. Honestly, if I had to guess, I would say that somehow the lamb we were served had been cooked twice, because there was not a drop of moisture left in the meat. I am not kidding. Whoever was working the kitchen last night (28/10/23) and whoever allowed that lamb to be served looking black and shriveled have 1) no shame and 2) zero concern for their customers or the restaurant s reputation. It was shocking. All we could do was laugh the whole way home.

I visited for the first time recently and we had had an absolutely lovely time. I am keen to come again! Also - the mocktails are on point if you want a fancy drink without the pressure of alcohol! Staff were all attentive and excellent!

It is a good place for a bottomless lunch on a Sunday if you like gin. The service is exceptional! The garden is very beautiful.

A great experience

From the moment we set foot into this enchanted sweet little bar we felt very welcome. The staff behind the bar were very informative and friendly...in particular Tom who went out of his way to point us in the right direction of local bars and eaterys that we soon discovered were exactly what we had been looking for. The cocktails he suggested for us and made to perfection exceeded our expectations. Highly recommended!

We recently held my parents 30th wedding anniversary at Covent Garden and I could not recommend this venue, Cuba & his team, the food and everything more if I tried. All of our guests couldn t stop raving on about how amazing the food and the service was and we couldn t agree more!

I have been to this bar multiple time and it never disappoints. Not only are the staff friendly and helpful but the food is great, the cocktails are great and the array of gins will leave any gin lover jealous. Great for an event or just a casual lunch.

Went on a Thursday night for a uni event and the bartenders there- Tyrone and Shona and CJ- were hands down the best bartenders I have ever met, so lovely, understanding and sweet. My friends and I will definitely be back, this is an amazing establishment and I cannot recommend more!

The venue owner takes a lot of pride in his staff and venue and it shows. You don t get good old fashioned hospitality like this much these days. Highly recommend. After my first visit with my Wife, we are so impressed with Covent Garden. Such a beautiful environment inside makes you forget about the busy streets around you. We tried almost every meal and were more blown away with every dish to come. Credit to the amazing chefs. What really got me was the staff, so easy to make a booking, so welcoming on arrival. Our waitress was the most friendly and knowledgeable person Ive ever seen in a restaurant. She made us feel like weve been friends for years while staying so professional. The gentleman who was our waiter is hands down the most professional Ive ever seen in my life, even after travelling the world to more restaurants than I can count. Add on all meals cater for food allergies which made it possible for my wife to eat there who has coeliac disease. We will be back there in a heart beat!

The guys at Covent Garden went above and beyond to ensure our dinner was top notch! Great advice regarding Gin from Rob, and whilst we were a little annoyed with our seating choice in the beginning, the owner well and truly made sure that we left super impressed. A must if you are eating in Brisbane s West End. Thank you to the team at Covent Garden, it s a pleasure to dine in an establishment where they really understand amazing hospitality.

Tried Covent Garden for the first time last night and wasnt disappointed. The food was absolutely amazing. Im coeliac and it was so nice to have access to the entire menu. We had the duck large share plate, the fried squid, cauliflower gratin and the pork belly bites. We had several cocktails which I would also recommend. Such a pleasant evening. Our waiter, young Canadian man, was excellent and made sure we had everything we needed.

We went there on Saturday for lunch to celebrate our granddaughters graduation. Our first time there and it certainly wont be our last. Fantastic food. Amazing cocktails. Friendly and helpful staff. Ebony, our waitress should be nominated for an award. She was so friendly, and her knowledge of all the choices on the menu was incredible as was her knowledge on the cocktails. They also cater for Vegetarians and Vegans. So thanks to all Covent Garden Staff front and back of house for making it an extra special lunch.

Cool hang out in West End. We went to a function out the back. Classy feels in a cherry blossom roofed outdoor area. The food was fantastic! Just fabulous. The drinks and service were superb too

Cuba and his staff are absolutely amazing. We hired the back courtyard for my wife s birthday and could not recommended a better venue to host. Great service, good food and bartenders whom know how to recommend and make your drinks to perfection. Also..cost..so many venues charge through the nose for events, no hire fee and small minimum spend for an afternoon event. Will definitely consider using again for any further functions

I ve been to Covent Garden three times now. The food is delicious and I am so glad to know a place that does coeliac friendly fries and arancini. The drinks are great and you can tell they are well made. The service, however, is what brings me back each time. Every time I have been there, I have been served by the lovely Rob. His service is so elegant and he really goes above and beyond, while putting his own spin on serving people. Someone give this man a raise, he is really representing the business in the most positive way possible. Thank you :)

Server was a legend, very helpful and fancy. Small food platter were very nice and surprisingly well sized, delicious prawns. Highly recommend.

Went here for a function and it was a beautiful location for a smaller intimate event. They also had fantastic food, was thoroughly impressed. Will need to come here for dinner

Amazing place to try out the most unique gins you ve ever had! The guys there really know a lot about gins! please follow their recommendations and you re in for a night of amazing flavours both from around the world and Australia! Would recommend to anyone that likes gin as a must do in Brisbane!

Provide good environment and It offers 170 different gins. Bar is have a lush greenery, three bars, and two courtyards. Inside there is a beautiful huge, luminous stained glass ceiling dome.

Its alright. Cocktails are good and the staff is lovely. Vegetarian options: Some vegetarian and vegan options but better places in West end to get a nicer veg and vegan meal.

First time to this spot after my mate tracking awesome reviews for about a year and wondering if it was just hype. We were not disappointed! From start to stop the experience was the best. We were a small table of 3, 1 mate coeliac so the safe menu was why we came, on a busy Saturday night but we were made to feel like we were the only people dining in the moment. Our waitress had a groovy relatable personality with an excellent knowledge of gin to inspire some creative drink selections. She was quick with all service and couldnt do enough for us. The food was devine and beautifully presented. We had the eggplant, cauliflower, squid and Lamb shoulder. The portions were perfect for sharing. The lamb is served with a knife and spoon (peas and gravy delivery system) but the knife is not needed as the lamb was so tender you could serve it with just the spoon. The venue itself is easily accessible in a vibrant part of town. Its funky vibe is translated throughout with the decor without being over the top. All round winner. Thanks to Cuba and his team for a top shelf night. Will definitely be back.

We were welcomed by a very nice gentleman who walked us to our table, our waitress was nice and friendly made conversation but didn t over do it she had short hair I don t know her name the food was delightful we got a few different dishes we will be back amazing service thank you front of house and amazing food thank you chef.

Ty and Ethan were amazing. I cant believe how amazing they made our night. I dont even like gin but they walked me through it and gave me a personalised experience and when I left, I felt like a gin connoisseur. These guys are amazing!

Whilst I am not a big fan of crowded places for a meal generally, the popularity of the venue means crowds. The set shared menu for brunch was absolutely on point. Nice food, great quantities, quick service and well priced per head. Parking: Bit difficult to find a good park if you are not in to parking in the shopping centre car park.

We had our friends engagement party here. The private space upstairs was great and the staff were very accomodating when we had to change dates due to COVID-19. Catered food was nice and a fair price compared to other places I had looked at around Brisbane. Overall a good experience with great communication from Cuba

Lovely gin bar and restaurant with a big area out the back. The food was wonderful for sharing, having a gluten free menu is fantastic. My favourites were the pork belly and the eggplant. The cauliflower was also delish. Cocktails were top notch and the drink selection was very good. Service could ve been a bit better, I would ve ordered more drinks if they had come more often!

I hired out the courtyard for my 40th birthday party and it was absolutely perfect! Cuba made the whole experience completely stress free. The food was just scrumptious (especially their arancini balls YUM!) and all the gluten free, vegan and vego options meant there was something for everyone! The space is beautiful and the staff were so incredible and looked after us so well! It was great value and every single person that came raved about the night! Couldnt think of a better way to start the next decade! Thank you so much Cuba and all the staff at Covent Garden! I will be recommending you to anyone asking for an event venue. I also cant wait to go back often for some more arancini and a Venice Beach cocktail! (I told the awesome bartender that I wasnt a huge fan of citrus or anything too sweet and he has now introduced me to my new favorite cocktail! I wish I knew the bartenders name to say THANK YOU cause he was awesome!) Thanks Covent Garden!

Excellent selection of gins and good recommendations by the staff. The food was reasonably priced and reasonable value but I wouldnt come back for the food. Id recommend coming here for the drinks and.maybe getting a snack, more so than coming here for dinner

Paid for unlimited drinks for 4hours, communication was good from manager. Day of event there was one bar tender for 52 ppl and drinks were so inconsistent not using real soft drinks but soda stream soft drinks so the taste per drink was so inconsistent. Queues for the line were taking too long so people were ordering more than one drink due to delay then advised can only order one drink at a time half way into our drinks package. Bar staff advised that the drinks package ended 2 hours before the 4hour limit quickly rectified after demanding to speak with manager. Everyone was pleasant and easy to deal with despite these things seems as though the internal communication was very poor, we all had a good time regardless and made the best of the situation but caution when ordering to be clear and have everything in writing.

Such a gorgeous venue to catch up with friends in busy West End. Food was delicious, great cheese board. And the cocktails were yummm. Loved the Cocktail of the day - Blackberry Cheesecake.

We had a lazy girls lunch here with cocktails and share food. Definitely recommend to try their cocktails , beautifully prepared. We shared the crab croquettes, broccolini and the beef cheek and cheese platter. I would go there again for the beef cheek, very tender and tasty.

Brilliant place to meet for any occasion. We went out for a date night and booked a table for dinner and drinks. Staff were very friendly, helpful and attentive and we were looked after very well throughout the evening. The menu is very impressive and the quality of the food was just amazing we ordered the Pork Belly (OMG !!!) and a few other dishes and were very satisfied Then theres the drinks menu (including a full 20 pages !!!!! of incredible selection Gin from around Australia and the world )... we were very impressed and had a great night out Highly recommend

Cute gin bar, the back area is usually always busy, so bookings are recommended! Wish you could do it online without having to email them though. Good food with vegan options too.
