Great restaurant with an incredible vibe, it took us back to La Toscana! Food was amazing, from the Polpo and Kangaroo tartare for entrees to the Mains. We tried the spaghetti and market fish this time. And foccaccia bread was amazing as well! Drinks were great, we don’t find places with vermouth very often and they offered different options. It’s clear that the chef has a great attention to detail in each plate. We’ll definetely come back.
Great experience at Pilloni. Tasty, unique dishes presented beautifully. Decor and fit out is fantastic, and the service was friendly. You can taste the Sardinian influence and the charcoal everything was cooked over. Superb! Absolutely fantastic wine list as well.
We went to a Serai x Pilloni collaboration degustation for only 99$ (wine matching available for 65$). Excellent price for the deliciousness and quantity of the food. We loved the food, the presentation and the close contact with the chefs. One of the highlights was drinking a rum shot through a bone after torching the bone marrow by the chefs. The ambience was beautiful, very lively. We would have preferred to have individual deserts - sharing sweets is difficult if you have two sweet tooths in the family. We will certainly come again soon and bring more friends and family!
Good experience. The food was good. Focaccia with dip was amazing. Calamari on the seafood platter was so chewy. Otherwise all other food was good but was missing that final element to elevate it. Service was OK. Staff were nice. I wouldn’t go out of my way to come back here unless someone else asked me to go and they were paying.
Beautifully appointed and cozy restaurant. Service very slow. Wine arrived after starter. Too few wait stuff for tables, or few too many tables. Wine ordered not avail, not noted on menu confusion on alternatives after 20 min wait. Calamari as main component of fish of day inedible - literally could not chew through it! Free desert offered. Rest food fine not outstanding. Focaccia amazing Service and food does not match price, regardless of ambience and decor!
We stopped by for a cocktail in the front section of the restaurant for a few snacks, and were pleasantly surprised. The chickpea tarts were beautiful. The Millefoglie di patate with salmon roe was perfect. We loved the anchovies, smoked butter, parsley oil and crostini. The complimentary appetizer that came with our cocktails was a lovely bonus. The staff were quite serious and didn't engage with us much. A beautiful restaurant, but very pricey.
Wow, what can I say but a must do if you’re in Brisbane or even visiting. From the drink lounge set up out the front to make sure you’re comfortable while waiting for your party! To the atmosphere inside! The chef’s are top notch with the taste of the most authentic Sardinian food I’ve ever tasted in Australia, with an ever changing and adapting menu that ensures the freshest ingredients locally sauced! Andrea and the team really go above and beyond with the a huge drinks and wines menu and the expertise that goes along with it. Can’t recommend highly enough. Has to be one of my favorite restaurants I’ve visited in the world!
** UPDATE ** Andrea called expressing his apologies for our previous experience, he explained the situation and genuinely cared about my experience. He offered me a $100 to try Pilloni again. On our second experience here, everything was top notch from the service to the food. Once again, the charred octopus and oysters are a must get for entree. We also got the seafood of the day this time and was genuinely so impressed by how well each ingredient was cooked, you can tell that they respected every single piece of quality produce that was on the plate and the sauce that went with it was to die for. The rabbit dish was also sooo delicious, it was cooked to perfection and we were encouraged to eat with our hands which I loved. Since I loved the uni pasta so much last time I ordered it again, the flavours were still awesome but the pasta was undercooked and I normally like my pasta quite al dente. Lastly dessert 😍, the mandarin mille-feuille was immaculate. 1st experience: We dined at Pilloni to celebrate a birthday. Overall, the food was very balanced and well thought out. I’d highly recommend getting the succulent prawns, oysters and lamb chops. With regards to service, some were incredible while others were lack lustre. The biggest disappointment to the night was that, by the time we wanted to order dessert we were informed that we cannot order it as unfortunately the next table were here waiting. We had to wait for a while in between courses (which we totally didn’t mind doing so at all). However, that resulted in an incomplete dining experience. Towards the end of the night, it just felt as though hurry up and get out as the next guests were here. We were expecting to be looked after, but that unfortunately fell short. I’d still recommend others to try this restaurant and would love to come back again due to the yummy food. However, I believe that there are some time management and staff training issues that could be improved for a more well rounded dining experience.
We had an amazing Sunday lunch at Pilloni. The service was flawless, and the food was exceptional, with a creative twist and a rich concentration of flavors. The atmosphere was equally impressive. I will definitely return with friends to share this unique gem.
Hey guys, it was a delighthful experience. The food was excellent and the service amazing too. We went as a recommendation from Pancho. I will definitely go back and drink the Mirto Sour again.
Incredible place, I went to visit the city with my wife and Pancho delighted us with his extensive and variable menu of both drinks and the gastronomic part. Thanks to Alessia who has recommended excellent wine options to accompany our dishes. Soon we will try Porceddu again!! Congratulations to Chef!
Thanks once again to GOURMET for recommend us Pilloni. We got in love with the incredible interior design. From the oyster, to the chickpea tart, to the Kangaroo tartare. Such a delicious combination of food. And for sure CULURGIONES. Thanks Eugenio to be so concerned about our allergy and the Cheff to create that majestual pasta. We were so happy and you are going to see us again.
Probably one of the best restaurants I ve been in Brisbane area.
The ambience and quality of food is the best I ve had in Brisbane all year. Pietro has done an amazing job with the menu. We had the Octopus, the Pesce main, the Wagyu Rump and cheese for desert and everything was divine. The service and drinks were world class. We ll be back.
Wonderful experience , Ticks all the boxes. Highly Recommend for any occasion . Will definitely be coming back.
Everything on the menu is amazing and the atmosphere and staff are super! Highly recommended
What a little gem in West End. The Sardinian menu is very different from the normal Italian offering. Had the Octopus and the Sicilian pasta and found both dishes well presented and tasty. I did not have the same experience as other reviewers here. I found the service attentive and very friendly.
One of the best meals I ve ever had, hands down! From the moment you walk in, you re greeted by warm, welcoming smiles. The décor is cozy and inviting, and the food wow! from the appetizers to dessert, everything was just exquisite. My favourites were the Polpo and Culurgiones. A special shoutout to Andrea, the owner, who came by to say goodbye at the end of the night, and to the amazing team, especially Alessia and Pancho, who turned my solo dining into a fun experience with great menu suggestions and plenty of laughter. Thank you! I ll definitely be back to share this gem with friends.
Super nice place in Brisbane! The lamb was amazing and the customer service of Pancho was top level
The food was amazing, so fresh and so many beautiful dishes. The restaurant is beautiful, the wood fired kitchen looks amazing and is putting out some amazing food!!!
Dining at Pilloni is like dining at nonna s home with the heart of the house being the open ember kitchen. Fresh-caught produce impeccably kissed by the pumping hot flame highlighting how primitive cooking allows for the flavours to thrive. Wine and ameri selection is just as exquisite and too smooth. Staff are warm and charming. A MUST no BUT!
Just like Sardinia (although a bit more expensive)
As someone that cooks Italian food all the time, I m never one to go out to eat it at a restaurant. However, Pilloni far exceeded all my expectations! Still can t believe they make their own bottarga (which is incredible). Cannot wait to return!
My wife, four friends and I had dinner at Pilloni yesterday evening and were very excited as we had preordered the 1/4 suckling pig (Porceddu) which is supposedly a Sardinian delicacy. This was ordered upon booking and as per online menu was supposed to feed 4-6, cost $280 (charged an extra $10 when paying bill for extras at the end of meal) and served with sides. I was asked to prepay $280 on the morning of our booking. No problem. However, when the platter of pork arrived, our dismay was palpable, not to mention sheer embarrassment for me as I had suggested the restaurant and menu. Not only did the platter seem small, but the contents were mainly bones, skin and a whole bush of rosemary, with very little meat. It looked like a pile of leftovers. The sides were even more meagre. We had chosen two sides - the potato and the salad. The salad was about six leaves of witlof and the potatoes came cubed in a small cereal size bowl. The gravy was bland. When we queried the portions with the staff, we were told it was mainly for four people and guests usually had pasta or a similar dish beforehand. This was a stretch as there was not even enough meat for two. Had we known the servings would be so small, we would not have chosen this dish. Also, my wife ordered a wine and it barely covered the bottom of the glass. Maybe it was just a bad night but I wish we had been forewarned when booking, that this dish alone would not satisfy six adults. We left hungry and disappointed.
After seeing in the press that Pilloni been nominated on the top 95 restaurant in Australia and top 15 in QLD, I can only agree with that. The quality and the care put into their food is absolutely mind-blowing. I love the simplicity of how the food is cook. If I could give 10 star I will do it . Thank you Pilloni to be one of favourite restaurants in Australia.
A great place, a great atmosphere, a great staff. Its an experience that you have to try because there arent enough words to describe it. Recommend 100% Food
I recently dined at Piloni and it was truly memorable. From the moment I walked in, the warm and welcoming atmosphere set the stage for an exceptional meal. The was a highlight the smoky flavor brought a unique twist, enhancing the delicate meat while keeping it true to its Australian roots. It was a dish that felt both inventive and grounded in local flavors. The Crostini with Anchovies added a burst of briny goodness, perfectly balanced on the crispy crostini, making it a delightful starter to share. The Mussels with Goat s Cheese Fregola was another standout. The mussels were tender, and the goat s cheese in the fregola added a tangy richness, making the dish both hearty and satisfying. To finish, the Chocolate Mousse was smooth and decadent without being overly sweet a luxurious end to a wonderful meal. Overall, Piloni combines a welcoming ambiance with creative, beautifully crafted dishes that showcase bold flavors and local ingredients. Highly recommended!
Great food. Great service.
Its like you went somewhere else.... you forget youre in Brisbane.
This is a great restaurant. From the moment we entered, we were warmly welcomed by Emilia. Complimentary Sardinian bread was presented with our cocktails. We had 2 snacks of chickpea pea tart and ocean king prawn skewer on citrus bisque to start followed by a hay smoked kangaroo tartare. The kangaroo had just the right hint of smoke. For mains, we had spaghetti with Tasmanian sea urchin and another pasta dish with sausage. All were sensational. Can t wait to return soon for more delicious dishes.
The restaurants décor is stunning, and the open-fire kitchen adds a wonderful touch. The food was just as impressive. However, a downside for me was the delay in receiving our wine, which arrived only as we were finishing our main courses, which was ordered as our entree dishes were cleared. On several occasions, we struggled to get the server s attention, including when asking for the bill. I understand this can happen during busy times, but it did affect the overall experience. Additionally, I was a bit disappointed that we weren t offered the dessert menu after our main dishes were cleared
Underwhelming.
Great little gem.
The food - sensational. Recommend if you are happy to pay a premium price for no service. The service was abysmal. Waited for over 30mins for wine service and a cocktail. Never asked again throughout the whole meal if we wanted another drink. No help in regards to their wine list even though it is quite extensive. No greeting when we entered. Just really disappointing, felt like the service ruined the whole experience. Beautiful place and food great but wouldnt return purely based on the service.
I will say that the food, quality of wine and service was great, the menu is spot on with (most) items exceeding our expectations. I understand the fine dining vibe and have been to a number of Michelin star restaurants here in Aus and in London, so I am well aware of how small, quality plates work and how the pricing is reflective of that. However, despite how great it was the lamb cutlets have no business being $54 and the fact that they are is outrageous! Ive attached a picture and admittedly I have taken a cut from one of the cutlets already you can tell from the other size of the cutlet what to expect in terms of size for the other. Was it not for how happy I was at the time with the rest of the service and food (which was exemplary) I would have said something at the time, but on reflection over the weekend I had to say something. I dont want this to be any reflection on the staff, but $16 per bite of lamb is just ludicrous! Loved the atmosphere and everything else, but just would not recommend ordering the lamb, stick to the incredible entrees and pastas!
Awesome food, atmosphere and friendly stuff.. very well done ..
If you like fire you will love the food here!
Fabulous. A perfect restaurant of this kind
Pilloni was suggested by a good friend so we decided to give it a go. Immediately the vibes were great; fantastic design and decor and the atmosphere was lovely. Service was great from the start and continued to be the case throughout the night. We had the Focaccia, Oysters, Kingfish Collar, Guancia, Fried Eggplant and Potatoes. All the dishes were incredible; especially the Guancia! I would highly recommend Pilloni!
Weve eaten there twice with friends. The order in advance suckling pig cooked for hours over wood is simply amazing. Tender, juicy with just the right amount of smoke in the background. Weve now had at least a dozen dishes, all great. The staff could not be friendlier or more accommodating. This is one of Brisbanes best restaurants!
Fantastic food and atmosphere, definitely coming back.
Traditional and beautiful Sardinian restaurant, the food is typical and delicious and the staff of this restaurant is absolutely lovely! This is a real sardian restaurant in Australia
This place is incredible !! Food tastes amazing and made with love and care, staff very attentive, great atmosphere and great wine list.
The ambience is superb and the cocktails are honestly 10/10 . The food presentation was excellent. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience; Pilloni is the place for authentic Italian cuisine. Grateful to the restaurant for an unforgettable experience Dietary restrictions: Will cater for dietary restrictions. Dairy free etc. Parking: Street parking available and down side streets
Pilloni could easily be the best restaurant in Brisbane. Ambience 10. Service 10. Food 10. The most incredible experience all round.
The food was great, the service was attentive, and the atmosphere on point. Great spot for special occasions.
The food was absolutely delicious! I came to taste the flavours of the region and instead I had a wonderful experience. The staff really excelled in their customer service, adding a personal touch and a bit of humour. I wish I got his name, but he shared his personal favourites of what he grew up eating, and we tried those dishes on his recommendations, and it did not fail. We had a mixture of various items to share and taste, from start to finish it felt like a delicious food tour. So delicious and not heavy! A perfect location for our date night, will definitely return.
We ordered a whole fish which was cooked to perfection. It was seasoned well with salt, they also gave you three types of sauces for the fish. Lamb came second but because we were almost full from the fish so lamb was good but not as good as the fish. Two mains is plenty for two girls. Cocktail was great. The bill was exactly $200 which I remember because my friend and I were going to split the bill however I checked my credit card a few days later and I was charged $205.32. It would be nice if I was told there would be a surcharge for credit card as I had enough cash on me. Overall I would recommend this place.
Andrea, Valentina and all of the team at Pilloni put on an absolutely stunning reception for our wedding! All of the courses were incredible, the wine was superb, dietaries were perfectly managed, servings were well timed, and nothing was too much trouble for the team. The entrees, including the chickpea tart, set up the meal perfectly; the malloredus ragu and curlogeones were so moreish; the lamb was perfectly cooked over the wood fire; the fried eggplant was heavenly; and everyone was raving about the focaccia - if it seems odd to rave about the bread at a restaurant, you just need to try it. The restaurant itself is just gorgeous, and needed absolutely nothing added for the reception - we did bring some flowers for the tables, but we would have been perfectly happy to have Pillonis own table settings as well! Absolutely perfect.
Great service and food.
NEXT LEVEL. I ll bring you some fish next time
Walked in to the restaurant it has a lovely atmosphere and helpful staff, But ordering a drink they seem a bit short on drink menus per person. Nice place to take a date for a drink but unfortunately the food was not good, bland if most. I honestly felt a bit ripped off, high prices for food you could easily make at home, Left hungry from the small portions. What a shame.
Thank you so much for having us celebrating our 5th wedding anniversary. We had an incredible time. Loved the music. Service was top notch and professional while also being very friendly. I cannot wait to come back and have the rabbit.
Our favourite restaurant in Brisbane by far. Thank you so much for your wonderful service - and for not kicking us out after two hours like so many restaurants do! Good food and good company should never have a time limit! :)
Delicious food, great wine choices and excellent service! Can t wait to go back
Beautiful food Great staff Wonderful atmosphere Be sure to visit. You wont be dissappointed
Food is ok but. Price is not very friendly
Amazing dining experience.
Went for the Westholme Supper Club - 5 wagyu dishes for $120pp. The starter chickpea tart was a total miss for me but the other four courses were really well cooked, especially the striploin. What I didnt enjoy was the 45 minute wait between the starters and the mains, and the wine pairings were not served in time together with the dishes. It seems like the kitchen couldnt keep up with the number of bookings they had. Would still go back as their food in general is always fresh and beautifully cooked. Love the atmosphere and the service has been lovely every time Ive been.
This restaurant is amazing. The service top notch and the food incredible. We had the scampi pasta and red snapper
Always en pointe - food, wine & creative cocktails! Excellent service and great conversation. Thanks so much & can t wait to be back.
Great, dark atmosphere. Every dish was done well and not your typical Italian restaurant as it brings out the best flavours from the ocean.
Amazing food & drinks
This is really not a restaurant you should go to when you are hungry. The expensive price is for the ambience rather than the taste. I hope the chef can take this issue seriously. Its strange for Italian food to taste so bad We ordered four dishes, and each dish was not to our liking.
Authentic Italian restaurant! Wonderful.
Beautiful restaurant with open kitchen and barbecue station with live fire, revisited Sardinian cuisine, well-made dishes, Wine list with excellent orange references!
Not so yummy but serves very fast , no pizza or lasagna , so for seafood and wheat lovers.
They really take care of you. Food and service was on point. Will definitely be back.
Just a wonderful evening of brilliant food, service and ambience. The kingfish was a particular highlight. Thank you so much for helping make my wifes 40th birthday celebration so special. We will be back.
Thursday the 11th of April we had a very special Dinner in the Private Dinning Room with a couple over from Scotland it was the most amazing experience and Service we could ever ask for Thanks to all the Staff for the most professional service
Ambiance 10, Food 10, Service 10. Such an enjoyable experience. The complimentary entree is such a noteworthy touch. More restaurants need to take note, it s just a very kind gesture that you didn t have to do but made the evening from a 10 to an 11. The notes in the food were so subtle and pronounced at the same time. The flavour was bursting with every bite so evenly that nothing took away from each other. Another thing worth mentioning is the way the lovely staff would explain what the dish was and ask whether there were any questions and even make encouraging comments such as this is a very traditional dish it makes you feel assured that you ve made the right decision and that you re experiencing a small part of someone else s culture in an authentic way the way they would have done. Every single thing we ate was impeccable and has been a 10/10 experience, would love to come back. Will need to try the dessert next time! Very well done.
Incredibly underwhelmed by my recent visit as Id flown into town to enjoy this special meal with friends. We arrived on time for our booking and after 30 minutes of waiting for our table to be ready the host offered free focaccia and explained that we were waiting for so long because the reservation before us arrived late! It seems the suckling pig we had ordered a week in advance also cooked for the additional 45 minutes it took for us to be seated. Some of the skin was burnt, which is a sacrifice Im willing to make for the rest to be nicely crackled, unfortunately the remainder was not crispy. We expected a special experience given the price but left extremely disappointed.
Perfect date night spot! Open kitchen so you could see the food being prepared and presented right in front of you. Lamb shoulder pasta was delicious! Pork belly was average. Cocktails are slightly on the sweeter side. Would definitely be back to try other dishes though.
This a wonderful restaurant. Great food, wine, and service. Cannot fault Pilloni. Will be going back.
Absolutely stunning dining experience. Intimate atmosphere, beautifully fitted and fantastic staff - I was enamoured before I opened the door. We tried the Faine di Ceci with Zucchini alla Scapece as an entree, which was absolutely divine and for main we had the Aragosta Australian blue lobster, cherry tomato, served with bottarga and lobster coral spaghetti, which filled us to the brim. For drinks, dont sleep on the Mirto Sour cocktail! I also tried the Meridionale, which was lovely, but went straight back to the Mirto Sour. Even my beer-loving partner couldnt resist getting one of his own. Wish Id remembered the wait staffs name for a shout out, but every single server was polite, engaging and attentive. An overall perfect experience.
Lovely, intimate restaurant
Beautiful fit out! Amazing wine list. Great food. We ordered the olives and salumi board for snacks, which was a great start, and between the four of us we had 3 pastas and a side, which was probably the perfect amount. My favourite was the curligiones, followed by the scampi spaghetti, however everyone else rated the mussels and fregola as number 1. The stand out dessert dish was the gelato cocktail with rum, although the flan, which was reminiscent of a crème caramel but with passionfruit, was also appreciated. Although, personally, the tart passionfruit seemed to contrast too much with the otherwise sweetness of the flan. The meals are quite expensive so I won t be a regular but would happily return. My friends were keen to try to suckling pig, which isn t up my alley, but I m sure would be worth the hype.
Absolutely sensational. Food, service, wine menu are all 10/10. Have to try the smoked pork loin. Cheers
The scorched potatoe stack with caviar Devine !! And the fish wings in oil amazing Thank you Antoinette Vegetarian options: Egg plant was perfect
Absolutely love this restaurant, great lighting and vibe especially if you are looking for something romantic. Food is homely but elegant and delicious.
The perfect place to have dinner and wines! Came with my wife and can t wait to come back with friends for dinner. 100% recommended.
Im in heaven now
Much anticipation for dinner for 2 given the reviews. Great design as you enter through bar to restaurant with a very clever design balancing 70s original/retro with rustic and contemporary furnishings. Didn t get off to a good start with a corked single glass chilled red served. Then try to palm off as my palette but no, a glass served from freshly opened bottle completely fine. Still needed to be more chilled, side ice helped. Entree prawns too small to classify as shrimp and way too small to detect any flavour. Main pasta flavours unique and well balanced but pasta gluggy. Desert pre-prepared but delicious but waited 10-15mins for partners dessert cocktail to arrive. Overall great atmosphere and design, lots of service staff looking the part with low skills and experience. Food hit and miss. Over priced for quality of food and service. Worth the try.
Amazing Sardinian restaurant, with beautiful food and drinks! We had the warm olives, fresh oysters, charred octopus, focacia with labneh for entres; wagyu, garoupa, grilled asparagus for mains and the affogato and olive oil cake for desserts. Everything was great except the wagyu (800g), though delicious, was fatty. Service was friendly and thoughtful. Love the rustic yet modern interior, be it the cosy and breezy bar area or the moody and romantic vibe of the main restaurant + 1.75% surcharge with Visa and Mastercard + 1.85% surcharge with Amex + 7% service charge for group of 8+ + 10% surcharge on Sundays
We have been wanting to try this restaurant since it opened. Finally got there tonight and unfortunately very disappointed.poor service, cold food, and the $80 lamb dish was very tough.Dont even ask for the dessert menu.
Stopped in for afternoon cocktails and some lite bites during a storm. Will definitelu be back for a proper meal next time.
Love this place
Our party of 4 had the cooked kingfish, foccacia and salumi... omg, melt in your mouth food. Then we had pastas and the lamb, with a bottle of red. Everything was wonderful. Highly recommend this for some special entertaining or occasion.
immaculate vibes & food
Sensational. I wish I had a second stomach so I could try more.
Great place to come to on your date night, I ofcorse came for a girls dinner to celebrate a 40th. They didnt do anything special to celebrate the birthday, actually they didnt even acknowledge it despite letting them know. I feel like that would have gone a long way. Despite that the staff were wonderful and attentive. They let us stay for a really long time despite how late it got. The food was good. I thought having venison was an odd choice for a Sardinian restaurant, but what do I know. The venison was my favourite dish at night. Not sure if the rest of what we ordered was as good. Great wine list however the drinks service takes a very long time. We got our food before we saw our drinks. Pouring wine into a glass must be a very difficult skill to master. They catered to coeliac disease however failed to let us know that their fryer and that anything fried contained cross contamination. That was annoying. The explanation of them being able to cater to Coeliacs disease also included a comment of possible gluten flying in the air... It just makes me wonder what else flies in the air. Vegetarian options: They had this massive cauliflower thing which was nice however if you had the cauliflower without the accompanying relish it was quite bland and unseasoned.
After seeing this place a lot online and being keen to try it out we dined on Friday 12th January 2024, when we entered we loved the cool vintage Italian aesthetic and thought the vibe and place looked awesome, unfortunately that s almost where the positives ended, we were sat for about 20 minutes before we were brought water or someone to come ask us for drinks / water (at first I thought they may have been understaffed but tables near by who sat down after us were getting their food before we could even order) the wine was nice and the lemon zest oysters were refreshing, but the rest of the dinner ( we had the king fish / beef tar tare / lamb roast ) was just fine lacked a bit of flavour and I was a bit disappointed with the lamb as I could probably cook that at home and add some more flavour, we weren t checked in on at all besides receiving our food and the server scoffed at us when we didn t leave a tip (why would I tip bad service?) unfortunately I probably won t be dining here again which is unfortunate because the place itself is beautiful and the atmosphere seemed cool
The ambience is perfect as you can see. The design is warm bringing some elegant European vibes to our dinner. The fregola was top notch and must tried item. Love the dessert, vernison tartae was very good but i wish the portion can have a little bit more to its overall, that was very lovely. I will be back
First the positives, place was lovely. Loved the open kitchen open fire concept. Beautiful mood setting. Service was good, prompt and attentive. Food wise, I thought it was as expected, typical Sardinian style cooking. Quality produce cooked to perfection. If you re expecting mind blowing rich flavours, then you re not in the right place. Know what you re expecting, and you ll leave a content full individual. Am personally coming back to try more dishes.
Being the first one, lets favour the algorithms. Firstly, thank you for brining great quality to West End. We were lucky enough to score a table with no booking at the first night. I did try to call several times that day but nobody answered the phone (Cmon guys!!!). This was possible thanks to the mediterranean service offered by the host (usually in Australia you would get a sorry we are fully booked, with no manoeuvring capacity from the host). He encouraged to have a wine whilst seeing what he could do, and sure enough he delivered. During the first night what can go wrong, will go wrong - so whereas this review should probably be a 3 stars for our experience, I understand they are fixable things that will get better. Once at the table the waiting period was way too long. Probs 20 minutes for the waiter to come and take our order, roughly 30 minutes to receive the entrees and a whipping 50 minutes between entree and mains. I would have loved a little detail considering this, but never came. To our liking, portions could be a bit more generous for the price. We had the octopus, which was absolutely perfect. Tender, charred just right and flavoursome. Mains were the ragu pasta and kingfish, both fantastic. Again, portions (particularly the kingfish) could be a bit more generous but the quality of the produce was outstanding. It is not easy to cook that fish properly over the embers and let me tell you, it was just perfect. Congratulations to the chef. The wine list is comprehensive and, pricey as wine is this days, I believe it was not crazy. To sum it up, the quality is there, the produce is there, the venue is there, and the willingness to deliver is there. I am sure once the initial issues get polished, you guys will consistently deliver 5 stars. All the best!
This was incredible, make sure you get the culurgiones and ichnusa beer it takes me straight back to Sardinia
Incredible food, amazing and friendly staff. Everything we had was great, but the octopus is definitely a must try, as well as both of the mains. Will definitely be back again!
Authentic food, great wine list, excellent staff and a fitout that s one of the best in brisbane. Will be back ASAP.
Outstanding service, food, decor and atmosphere...simply a top shelf dining experience by any standard.
Delicious new restaurant in West End. Incredibly styled, attentive and friendly staff, wonderful rage of wines and delicious food. Would highly recommend the Culurgiones (dumpling style of pasta) and the spaghetti. We can t wait to return!
Amazing fitout- great night in all respects Food was fantastic with point if difference Well done -
Such a great and unique experience. Thank you , ill be back for sure
I was so enthusiastic to get to Pilloni after being such a huge fan of La Lupa and the intrigue of the Sardinian cuisine! Fire-powered food is slowly but surely becoming a popular niche amongst the Brisbane dining scene (Agnes topping the lot) - and Pilloni is a fantastic competitor. We were so impressed by the freshness of the natural oysters, as well as the refreshingly innovative parsley oil, fermented carrot gel and bottarga dressing oysters. Great combination! Moreover, the standouts were, without a doubt, the charred octopus and Culurgiones. The octopus was the best i ve ever had (and i ve had a lot of octopus)! It was tender, buttery and perfectly accompanied by the potato foam. As for the culurgiones - how could you go wrong with pasta dumplings in a pecorino and tomato sauce. So very satisfying. Though I want to applaud Pilloni, being a new restaurant - there were a variety of flaws that I would not normally excuse for an establishment. Our booking was for 7.45. We were not seated until 8.20. So incredibly grateful for the complimentary snacks they gave us when we were seated - but during our wait time we felt ignored by the bar staff. It was only the two of us with a pair of two other men at the bar stools to have been acknowledged would have made the atmosphere feel slightly more hospitable. When we were finally seated in the beautiful restaurant (really do love the interior design here) - we had to ask for our menus. I will admit it was probably my own fault for some of our poor choices when it came time to order. The chickpea crisps did not have the notes of truffle I was hoping for, nor the texture variety that should have come from the cream and crisp shell. When our dishes came, the shisito peppers were served without the ricotta. Luckily, our waiter noticed before I said anything and returned with the cheese on top. It was a side dish that lacked umph. Where was the almond cream? and the smokiness of the ricotta?? Next time I will just get the carrots. My bad! Overall, for a new restaurant, Pilloni shows a lot of potential! I wanted so desperately to provide 5 stars but the service definitely needs polishing. I read another review stating they would give 3-stars if they weren t sympathetic I agree. Can t wait to come back for some meatier mains and perhaps a larger serving of the octopus. Bravo to Pilloni!
Excellent food Wines service and atmosphere. We had a great spaghetti vongole (ended with focaccia scarpetta) and the best polipo
We loved every single dish, and the ambiance, and the service, and the wine. It s classy, casual, unpretentious, most importantly the food was really amazing, we couldn t fault anything. A well deserved 5star!
This place was absolutely amazing! I eat at many restaurants and I m putting that one in the top list. We enjoyed every single dish thank you so much
Approaching Pilloni from the outside you already feel you re about to step in something that Brisbane has never had before. Inside it feels like an elevated & well curated version of Nonna s house. Open fire in the kitchen, staff all in linen, it s intimate but friendly & the food is everything you want - simple, full of flavour, quality ingredients & authentic.

NEW RESTAURANT EXPERIENCE- REVIEW Pilloni Fine Dining Restaurant provided me with a wine list upon my arrival and I was given a warm welcome by the staff. During the tasting process, they allowed me to sample the wine and asked me which type I preferred. Due to this, the evening began in a sweet and comfortable manner. In spite of the staff s sweet and attentive nature, the food was rather bland and did not stand out. As my first course, I ordered the Oysters Natural ($5 AUD), which were not cold enough according to the staff and I was concerned about their freshness. Besides the lamb neck slow roasted with fregolone and parsnips ($72 AUD), which the staff highly recommended, I also tried the lamb leg slow roasted with fregolone and parsnips ($72 AUD). In spite of this, the dish tasted bland and the meat was served cold rather than warm, which diminished the overall experience. In spite of its simplicity and delicacy, the side dish of Shisito peppers, smoked ricotta, burn almond cream ($16 AUD) did not complement the lamb in any way. Dessert, an Alghero-style caramel flan with marsala cream and figs ($16 AUD), was the highlight of the evening. It was not overly sweet, which was perfect for the end of a meal. The portions of the food were generally large enough to accommodate two people. Though the staff at Pilloni Fine Dining Restaurant was attentive and sweet, and the ambiance was pleasant, the food s cost did not correspond to its quality. As a result of the blandness of the lamb neck dish and the disappointing oysters, the overall experience was less than satisfactory. The attentive service and the standout dessert were particularly appreciated. Rating: 4/10
My family and I took my Grandparents here for a birthday dinner and it did not disappoint. The atmosphere is so lovely and the eye for decoration and beautiful plates and glasses really added to the experience. The food was certainly a stand out. We had the market fish, lamb neck and the most delicious side dishes and all were simply stunning. The flavours were incredible (though some dishes needed a little more salt), and the textures were fantastic. Especially the crunchy macadamias on the roasted Zucchini. Thank you to the staff for being so warm and accommodating, my family enjoyed it immensely.
Delicious and innovative food served by experienced and friendly staff in a beautifully designed restaurant. Will definitely be back! Food
Each dish was delicious; we had the coral trout, focaccia, bullhorn peppers and flan. The service was also great!
The quality of the food and service was excellent. Octopus was a standout with char finish and succulent texture. We had pasta and pork belly for mains and enjoyed both.
Absolutely wonderful experience on the day we dined. Could not fault the staff, the ambiance and the food. Was so impressed. Thank you.
Lovely little restaurant. Service was very good, I would hope the staff a little more knowledgeable about the food however possibly only due to lack of English. Do not let this discourage you! The food was excellent, very tasty, decent serving considering the quality and entrees, mains and dessert was outstanding. Wine drinkers will love it for its large choices, cocktails were ok, not as good as the food though! Loved the ambience and setting, price was very reasonable again considering the food quality. Would highly recommend.
The best dining experience in years.
Exceptional! Amazing and authentic food. Such a gorgeous addition to Brisbane dining. Menu was superb!
Great food and perfect portion sizes. The place had a really comfortable atmosphere and the service was excellent.
What a gem! We recently dined at the newly opened Pilloni restaurant in Westend. From start to finish, everything was perfect - the food, the service, and the ambiance. We started with some beautiful fresh oysters (with Parsley oil, fermented carrot gel and bottarga dressing) and house cured anchovies with crostini and smoked butter to get the palates warmed up, pairing perfectly with a glass of Vermentino. Our mains were outstanding! The Spaghetti Alle Vongole with fresh baby clams and Bottarga, which was just amazing! The pasta was perfectly cooked, and the clams were so fresh and flavorful. Next up was the king fish, which was cooked gently over the coals and served with a smoked heirloom tomato coulis, and asparagus; It was absolutely incredible. The Charred Cauliflower was a standout! This was so damn good! Drizzled with tarragon oil, hazelnuts, ajo blanco, and shallots. Vegetables tend to always be found on the sides section of a menu which is such a shame, but this dish proved that they can be the star! The service was lovely - the staff were so friendly and attentive. And the ambiance was perfect - cozy and intimate, with beautiful décor; bamboo ceilings and traditional Sardinian tiles that added to the Mediterranean feel of the room. We especially loved being able to watch the soul of the kitchen where the chefs were cooking over the open fire and coal; It gave the room a somewhat romantic and cozy feel. We are looking forward to our next visit and hopefully will have room to fit some dessert in next time! Note: Located next to Lefkas Taverna in Hardgrave Road Westend. - Side street parking available on Hardgrave Road - Vegetarian options available, and some foods can be made dairy free. - When booking, ring ahead to ask about Vegan & Gluten free options. Vegetarian options: I would asked when booking what options they have available as vegetarian. There are a few options on the main and sides that are delicious. Dietary restrictions: We were able to have a few dishes made without the dairy for my husband.
Its surprisingly good for a West End Italian restaurant. The Sardinian dishes were a nice variation to the traditional Italian dishes found in Brisbane. Also, a nice selection of wines and great service.
Incredibly creative, beautiful open kitchen and fantastic food! The lobster was sensational
Incredible standard of service. Compact and efficient menu that covers all bases in an adventurous style. Beautiful, thoughtful venue.
Amazing ambience in a beautiful and elegantly designed venue. Staff were very nice. The dishes are carefully executed and delicious! I couldn t get enough of the venison tartare and the malloreddus pasta with lamb shoulder was incredible! The octopus was also a winner, beyond fresh and perfectly cooked. They serve the best chocolate sorbet with rum and cointreau, one of the best desserts I had in a long time. I will definitely visit this restaurant again!
Ambiance and Venue - warm, elegant but not intimidating. There were big tables for families and groups which made the venue welcoming. Amazing wine list. If we didn t drive, we will get a bottle of that greek red wine! Food was impeccable! Cannot fault it! From appetizers , sides, to main ! Service was great- attentive servers and food came out in a reasonable time. Will go back again!
Lovely food, wine and fitout. All 10/10 we were a party of 8 and all agree it was a wonderful experience. Thank you Pilloni team, we ll be back!
Great addition to the West end range if restaurants. Delicious food. Impeccable service. Elegant decor.
Amazing food, open kitchen and open fire cooking! Enjoyed every plate. Definitely be back.
Very upscaled. Love the interior, combines modern elements with a touch of the local culture. Food was nicely presented. Overall, I enjoyed the experience. If anyone wants authentic Italian cuisine, Pilloni is your go to. Thanks to the restaurant for giving me an experience of a lifetime
Outstanding food and service, highlight was the pork. Beautiful fit out.
Food was fantastic, and the wine list killer as expected! Congrats on the vision and execution, this is the best place I ve been to in Bris in a long time!
I celebrated my birthday dinner here and left feeling slightly disappointed after hearing great things about this restaurant, particularly how great the service is. Sadly, our server was not very welcoming and their service was very cold, therefore it felt like our evening started off on a sour note. At one point during our dinner I could over hear the server and a kitchen staff arguing over something which is not very professional especially when guests are sitting near the kitchen area and could see everything. The server was clearly annoying and made things very awkward. The venue itself is gorgeous and our table had a view of the kitchen and its spectacular open fire cooking space. Food came out rather quick but most dishes were ok, mostly bland and under seasoned, nothing memorable. The oysters left a fishy after taste, not very pleasant. The bread for the Tartars was way too hard making it a struggle to bite and enjoy the dish, it would be better if the slices were a little thinner. The only dish worth noting is the Spaghetti Alle Vongole, the clams were fresh and sweet whilst the pasta had great texture. Given the above we decided to skip dessert.
Well presented, Sardinian food. A great wine list with drinkable cheaper options by the glass and bottle as well as high end stuff. They understand dietary intolerance and allergy, they know their menu back to front for the item specific risks. The food is made and served with attention. From the owners of Lupa down the road. I enjoyed it, Im going back.
Thank you to everyone at Pilloni for a fabulous lunch today. 14 of us had a feast of italian treats in the private dining room. We will be back!
We had a really nice time. The food was fabulous and the service was great .
Great food! Needs work on atmosphere but that was a minor issue
Great menu & wine list. Loved the Fitout. Cosy & perfect date night spot
We had a wonderful dinner at Pilloni! The food was delicious and interesting, the staff were charming and the room was beautiful. Couldn t have asked for anything better. Thank you to the team at Pilloni
Fabulous experience. I went to dinner with my favourite group of health conscious friends. The open kitchen, music, beautiful decor of the venue gave us a good vibe. Menu is simple yet provides options for everyone - wine and drink list is pretty extensive. The drinks were great that it actually tastes liquor. We shared everything. The stand outs are octopus, lamb, complimentary flatbread with ricotta dip, and chocolate rum drink. I couldn t believe how tender the octopus was. I was able to divide them with spoon! The surprise was the chocolate rum drink. It was not too sweet and hits you with a hint of rum at the end. Next time, I want to try the preorder dish - pig or lobster dish. I thank for the friendly yet professional service!
Brilliant long sunny Sunday lunch. Such a warm and welcoming place. Great food. Great cocktails and wine. Knowledgeable staff. Perfect.
A true Sardinian experience. Valentina came to greet us. Great Italian hospitality. Definitely suggest, one of the best Italians in Brisbane.
Really nice food, a bit different from the usual Italian fare, and good service.
Pilloni West End, a Sardinian restaurant, offers an impressive culinary experience that will captivate your taste buds. From the sensational charred corn chickpea tart, king fish crudo chickpea tart to the delectable scallop crudo, each dish is a delightful journey of flavors. The polipo, a charred octopus dish, was an absolute standout, leaving a lasting impression with its sensational taste. The spaghetti alle vongole, served with fresh vongole, was a satisfying plate of pasta that showcased the essence of Sardinian cuisine. The dessert menu at Pilloni is equally enticing. The menjar Blanc, an olive cake with white chocolate namelaka, milk ice cream, and plum, was a heavenly delight that left us craving for more. While the suckling pork was not as remarkable as the other dishes, the overall dining experience at Pilloni West End was exceptional, offering a taste of Sardinia in every bite. Note: This review reflects my personal experience and opinion of Pilloni West End, based on a single visit. Taste preferences may vary, and it is recommended to explore a variety of dishes to fully appreciate the restaurant s offerings.
Food is average and bland. For the price you are paying, you would expect better. The wine selection is excellent and the fitout is pleasant.
Exceptional. Will be back.
Great dinner and will return. Anchovies entree was delicious. Love the bar at the front for a drink before dinner.
The entrees were delicious we sample four of them. However most of our mains were disappointing and let down by the sauces and flavours.
Absolutely fantastic. A must if you re in Brisbane.
Great food and great service. Such a beautiful restaurant!
An absolutely stunning restaurant. Service, food, and atmosphere - all 5 star.
Atmosphere was nice. Great ambience. Drinks were delicious. The server was awfully quiet. We couldnt hear anything she was saying to us over the music and was not especially welcoming in any way. We ordered quite a few dishes and were left still feeling quite hungry. For $90pp we were quite disappointed that that was the case. The food was bland and underseasoned for the price we paid. There are better restaurants out there. I wont be recommending this place or coming back again.
This place is stunning. Truly great food. Lovely bread. Best octopus ever. Spectacular lobster. Interesting pasta. Great predominantly Italian wine list. Really terrific service. Looking forward to returning
Loved the private dining room and the menu. It was an experience I would love to repeat.
The staff were welcoming and the service was prompt. Whilst the ambiance was cozy, with very flattering lighting, the illusion was swiftly interrupted just after 10pm, as you could see the team hurrying for an efficient close. Although there was no salad option, the menu descriptions match the food perfectly, with a fair range of dishes to choose from. Our experience included flatbread and olives, a dozen fresh oysters, Octopus and the fish of the day (Spanish mackerel) with the celery side. All courses presented beautifully, with the celery being a surprising favourite for flavour, but would probably try some other things next time. Given the picturesque environment and attentive staff, I could see this becoming an easy regular for a classy mid-week drink so put it on your radar!
Very nice restaurant.. I loved the experience
An all round impressive experience. The ambience is perfect, as others have mentioned. A great wine list - many 4+ star wines by the glass. The meals were plated impressively and were impeccable.
This is a beautifully fit out restaurant with lovely ambience and attentive staff. However, the food we ordered was quite disappointing. I went with three other people and found that all of our mains (4 different pastas) were quite bland and one was served cold. Unfortunately for the price and quality I wouldnt be in a hurry to return.
Fantastic food and service
Ive been here twice now, and have been super satisfied with my experience both times. The first time the staff graciously accommodated us by moving us to a bigger table so my partner and I could sit next to one another (at the time both his ears were infected and he couldnt hear a thing across the table). Definitely recommend sitting at the round table next to the open kitchen if you have the chance it was wonderful to watch the chefs plate up the food and feel so immersed in the experience. The atmosphere was so warm, and the staff were friendly. Everything we ate was delicious, but we particularly enjoyed the polipo, swordfish, and funnily enough the focaccia... the tastiest focaccia ever. Highly recommend the Mirto Sour and Negroni In-Chinato for drinks. Thanks for the lovely time, well be back for sure!
Like eating at Nonna house. The authentic food from Sardinia is special. Far exceeds your average Italian. Do yourself a favour and visit this place... Soon Well be back next trip to Brisbane for sure. See Photos for the delicious dishes we enjoyed.
I m Italian and this place is the first one that gave me so much memories. Buonissimo e bellissimo
Authentic Sardinia restaurant high quality food and beverages, great service and ambience.
EXCELLENT EVERYTHING!!! The food was very very delicious and better than most other similar restaurants. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive and the service was terrific. Although the price is a bit high, both the food and atmosphere is definitely worth it! Would highly recommend! Parking: Not many parking spots dedicated for the restaurants. Mostly street parking.
A really beautiful Mediterranean style restaurant. The design and architecture is rustic, nestled amongst West End. The food is good quality and worth the money. The mocktails are delicious, it s the first time I ve ever reordered! The staff are kind and it s awesome being able to see some of the kitchen and the preparations they do.
Food was excellent, service was terrific and prices on the menu and wine were top end as well. Do not ask me to tip. Your menu prices justify everything. Probably the most expensive place in brisbane to eat. Stop asking for a tip. Other than that. Great.
I was very disappointed in the food, it lacked flavour. The service matched the food, the entire experience was poor! Food
The foccacia and swordfish were amazing.
Didnt know what happened with the chef that day.... the vongole pasta turned out like this... when the waitress brought it to the table, i questioned myself if i ordered the right dish as i recalled all pics i have seen on social media are like art works.... but this is like a kid meal... Didnt wanna make a scene on the spot so i didnt say anything to the staff (maybe i should have) And the taste was blend... i could only taste the oil.... what a big disappointment. I would have given zero star but the othe dishes were actually ok n the restaurant is pretty
We stopped in for a look on our walk one evening and ended up having oysters, olives and bread with a couple of drinks. It was all delicious - the setting in the bar is dark and relaxed. I loved it!
Amazing service right off the bat. Warm relaxed surroundings and most off all, prompt service while not making you feel rushed like many commercial style restaurants do. Pilloni is about well sourced produce and honest cooked food. Another wood fire restaurant in Brisbane could take some lessons from theses guys. They don t smother produce in sugary sauces and flavours, they let the food speak for itself. This restaurant deserves attention for discerning dinners. Lamb, pork or cuttlefish, it was all really good!
Amazing spot and a must try. Great service and extensive wine list.
Ball dropped tonight. Chargrilled cuttlefish was half raw and scampi fregola flavour was bland/confusing. Luckily the tartare and goat pasta held the fort. Restaurant decor and music was great though
Expect flavours that are authentic, and non-apologetically Sardinian. If you can afford one dish only go for the culurgiones and get the focaccia to soak up the rich sauce. Youre welcome. Will visit again to get through their excellent wine list. My order: Olives Anchovies Focaccia Culurgiones Goat shoulder in ragu Seadas Menjar Blanc
Best kept secret in West End. Spectacular food offerings and an interesting wine list in surrounds
Good food, good service and good atmosphere made my Friday dinner absolutely enjoyable and worth the drive (quite far from where I m living). The lovely young waitress Heeso was very friendly, helpful and professional. Thank you. I m sure we will go again.
Great Italian food fine dining
The place here is actually quite good, but quite limited options of pasta which hopefully they can add more options Wagyu steak was nice and tender and sauce was hitting it perfectly! But some of the sea urchin was a bit strong seafood taste so if you can t stand it probably better to other other pasta Overall quite good and recommended!
Service was very good. We had the suckling pig which was good but the sides were small. Olive oil cake was very nice. Id try the other dishes next time as Sardinian food is supposed to be good seafood wise.
Delicious food and amazing service for private function. The quality was excellent and great experience for special occasion
An exceptional dining experience great food combined with excellent service. Take a bow.
Pilloni boasts delicious, well-prepared food and a stunningly beautiful interior. However, slow service (especially with delayed drinks and long gaps between courses) and a loud, echoey environment marred the experience. Communication hiccups and the inability to hear each other took away from the enjoyment.
What an amazing restaurant !! Some friends brought me and my family to Pilloni to try their suckling pig (need to be ordered in advance), and it was the best we have ever had. All the food was fantastic and the service was excellent, the restaurant is also very well decorated.Highly recommended.
The food and service at Pilloni were exceptional! I particularly loved the culurgiones - delicious! Fabulous service too.
