91 Vulture St, West End QLD 4101, Australia
Dissapointed. Came here with my friend and thought the food would be good as the restaurant is run by two older indian women. We both tried 4 different curries and we both agree all of them are lacking in flavour, which is confirmed by other reviews on Google. The only redeeming quality is the prices are cheap and the staff are nice. Wouldn't come back here and I don't understand how they got a 4 star google rating.
Absolutely excellent Indian food in West End! After living abroad for years this was one of our first stops back, now we have brought friends that also live overseas because it’s just so good! Love the creamy butter chicken, garlic and cheese nans. Drool.
Really delicious and flavourful curry, great value and I couldn’t help but feel the food was made (and served) with love. The owners aren’t overly smiley or anything - they’re just careful and deliberate in serving you, they’re not in a huge rush. It’s nice somehow. I recommend the thalis for people who can’t pick (like me). Everything tastes good and freshly made. There is seating inside and outside, it’s not a fancy place to eat but the tables are clean, nothing is wobbly and there’s Indian music playing for the vibes. Would come again. I’d like to try the lassi next time ($5.95 in September 2024 for a big cup) with a meat curry but as you’d expect there are plenty of vegetarian options.
BEST INDIAN I’VE EVER TRIED! Authentic, great atmosphere and extremely reasonable price. Food was yummy yummy in my tummy
My favourite Indian in Brisbane. The mango chicken is so good. Serving sizes are enormous and is great value for money. The ladies are very lovely although they take their time serving you so be patient. They are in no rush! There is usually always a line. The plain naan is so good but you should order it first because they take some time to cook as they make it fresh.
Delicious Indian food! The place has a takeaway service, so the food is ready to serve (they also have tables in case you want to eat at the restaurant) The service is fast, the food is delicious and the staff is very friendly, they have excellent customer service, always very concerned They also have vegan options In my case I asked for the takeaway option and they were very generous in serving the food. Highly recommended!
If you’re looking for Indian comfort, look no further. 5* for the easy dine in or takeaway menu. Pricing is one of the reasons this place is always so busy, options are plentiful for meat lovers or vegetarians. Fresh Naan’s made to order & if you like to keep things interesting - try some of their pickles and relishes (behind the counter, lime pickle, mango chutney etc) OR a chilled lassi (mango, rose water and other flavour available) the family warmth here & acceptance makes it the perfect stop for anyone in Brisbane looking for a good feed!
Probably the best Indian food in the West! Indian cuisine is second to my favourite food. I love their veggie korma and lamb korma, you got to have their cheese garlic naan! Priyanka is really helpful and remembers us whenever we visit and eat, love her service. Food is amazeballs.
The food is great here but the service seems to have dropped a bit. Everyone stands in one spot waiting at the sale system waiting to take orders. You should take orders at the start. Send to kitchen or person dishing out food in the middle. Then have someone on the end who takes payment as written down. I cant blame them because they seem to be struggling with the point of sale system. But it made ordering very difficult and stressful. This will put off lots of return customers. Hope you guys can figure it out! I love this places food. Its classic
Come for the food - stay for the company 10/10
Reliable, local and convenient. Their vego range is frequently changed up which is great. Love their roti over their naan (preference). They have a great mango lassi. Favourite dishes 3 veg and rice. Mango chicken. Butter chicken. Good value for money.
Very good food, they give you quite alot for a good price. Keep up the good work
Indian food made for the western palate. Extremely average.
Amazing food for a cheap price, feels very authentic. Recommend the nans that are HUGE and tasty!!
Ive always really liked this place. Tasty well priced food and friendly staff.
Best indian! Always amazing!
Great food. Awesome staff. The 2 sisters are just beautiful and friendly. Butter Chicken is my favorite
Omnomnomnomnom. Great Indian, lovely owners, so glad West End has this absolute institution on the main street.
My friend and I love this place. Food is fantastic, portion sizing is excellent for price, staff are friendly and kind
Very good, maybe the best...
Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian options Dietary restrictions: Lots of gluten free options Food : 5/5 |
Delicious food and very friendly staff
Sadly ordering through Uber eats you cannot see specific reviews. This review pertains EXCLUSIVELY to the Butter Chicken. The Uber Eats ratings had us believing that this was the penultimate Butter Chicken... on arrival the first thing I noticed was its unusually iridescent pink/red coloring. First mouthful was spat out, it was grotesquely sweet more closely related to campbells condensed soup than a Pataks simmer sauce. Unless youre ordering with the intention of having it as a desert, skip it and buy the Lamb Rogan Josh instead... it was half decent. Really disappointed and annoyed that no reply to my query through the app was recieved.
Great value and tasty fast food
Lovely little corner store for Indian Food. Well worth getting the curry with rice and a naan bread of your choosing as a side. Would recommend bringing a friend along to help finishing the Naan because its bloody big, tasty and fresh. Yes, it has gotten a bit more expensive over the years but I do truly believe the extra price was put towards delivering better food and service. That said, it is still more than reasonable considering I can get a large curry w/ rice + naan bread for 17 AUD!!! Vegetarian options: Vego option available
Delicious and generous serving of Daal. Would love if they brought more vegetarian/vegan options
Love Indian Kitchen soooo much, and the people who run it. Excellent Dahl, excellent breads. Great food, Great value. Always a friendly smile and warm greeting! Highly recommended !
very good. great food.
Food and staff are incredible.
Price is great, the portions are big, the food is absolutely delicious and the service is wonderful.
The serving size is great, my only problem is that the curries which I expected to be spicy, werent.
Cheap place where you can eat authentic indian food
Very bad customer service
Great food, exceptional service, well priced
Best Indian restaurant around with affordable prices! If there was 6 stars, I would give 6 stars to this restaurant
This place used to do a large curry with rice for $8. The curry wasn t very strong, but it was very filling and had a generous amount of meat and sauce, I mean it was $8 you can t complain. Prices have gone up recently, as has everything. Still good for a quick feed
I love this place
The (North) Indian food served here is for western buds, so it does not have much spices or chilies to it in general. I recommend them to provide curry varieties from south India in future menu.
I used to speak incredibly highly of this place for 12+ years until recently we have made the drive there for dinner and TWICE they have been closed for a personal reason or a holiday. We are a fair distance away, the least you could do is adjust your hours on google for people that don t live locally. Such a let down. Unfortunately myself and family of 7 will not be back.
great food and really nice people!! i love the naan, saffron rice, lamb vindaloo and mango lassi
Good for a quick bite
My go to for a quick curry in West End.
Good place for a quick and delicious meal!
Yummy indian food and affordable prices too
Definitely on the lower end of west end cuisine and below average Indian for Brisbane.
Spent 55mins waiting for a delivery, got told it was done in 10 mins and it got cancelled as the driver arrived to collect :( was keen as for a feed
Been going here for over 20years, excellent food at great prices. Best in town
Banging chicken and lamb curries
Nice meal here tonight. Prices have changed but still good value . Staff were lovely. Garlic naan delicious.
Wonderful Indian food in my wife s memory as a student! Still like before, traditional and classical!
Best food for dollars spent in West end. Try the mango chicken Vegetarian options: Its indian Food : 5/5 |
Great people, great food. Great prices. Been going there decades. Really hard-working, gracious folk who love being appreciated- dont we all. Ever tasty, ready on the spot (unless queueing as usual). Not meant to be gourmet but is pretty good n great value.
Palmy Indian Kitchen is the best authentic indian food restaurant on the Gold Coast. With their extremely friendly staff, great prices and their food is consistent and delicious. Both take-away or eat in with BYO. Thanks for your extremely friendly place of dining.
Cheap clean delicious In fact the cheapest restaurant in Brisbane Food
Absolutely GLORIOUS ! This meal was awesome, ill come back soon and i truely recomand this restaurant. Food is home made by real indian sisters (i guess), cant expect better for a quick high quality meal, and the price is competitive ! Thank you very much ! Food
Always consistent value for money.. As well as Happy service Food
I ordered a rice + meat set and 1 tandoori leg. It was prepared on the spot, so I received it quickly. It was a lot for the price. I ordered a large, but there was some left over, so I ate it later. I ordered the butter chicken because it seemed to be the most popular, and it was delicious. If you live near the West End, you can get a cost-effective meal.
The BEST Indian food in Brisbane by far. We can t go anywhere else anymore because we are always comparing it to here! Reccomend the creamy butter chicken and cheesy garlic naan.
Couldnt believe how cheap it was - $29 for two curries with rice and a huge naan! Food was delicious too. Will definitely come again.
West End classic serving affordable Indian curries, rice, Naan and Samosas.
The food was amazing and Roshan was absolutely beautiful to deal with. An absolute pleasure. Will definitely recommend and be coming back
The best, and most affordable, indian cuisine in Brisbane. Excellent Naan bread too!!
Always a great experience, the staff are always friendly and happy. And the food is DELICIOUS :)
Fantastic, Im always satisfied with the food and the value. Which is why I keep coming back!
Amazing food, lovely staff - those Butter Chicken Samosas are heavenly
Such big portions for the price and AMAZING FLAVOUR!!!!! One of the best places I ve visited in west end!!
Worst butter chicken I ve ever had, way too sweet and and only tastes of tomato. The chicken itself has no flavor. I will definitely not be back
It s almost criminal to make food this good, but then to also close on Saturdays the vindaloo and naan here are top shelf. Nice people too.
Small restaurant with good Indian food at very affordable rates.
Yammy
Best Indian restaurant in brisbane
Very cheap like one meat and rice for 11 $ ! and good size portion ..tastes great also
It is a lovely Indian restaurant. We ordered garlic nana, and mango curry (extra large) to takeaway to eat at South Bank. Those dishes were very good value for money. They served really fast and food tasted absolutely delicious. We had mango smoothies too. They open long hours till late at night to 10pm. We came back from Gold Coast late, so we decided to try this restaurant because most shops were closed.
Worth six star , food was served with love, excellent.
Great takeaway Indian food. Naan cooked fresh and quick. Good sized servings at reasonable prices.
Best indian food in Brisbane region
Quick and cheap meals , would recommend
Edited. Thank you for this response, I appreciate you taking the time to deal with this.
Excellent prices and great food.
Yum
You get what you pay for here. Delicious curries, great deals and portion size is more than enough. The spicier butter chicken is great
Great food and awesome value. Pretty slow service when I went in. The queue was out the door with only one serving so ended up waiting in line for about 20 minutes before ordering.
Ordered vindaloo lamb and rice with onion bhaji to go....curry was a little mild for vindaloo although nice, and the onion bhaji was cold and hard....bit disappointed.
Best value curry in Brisbane - great prices and big servings, plus very tasty, very fast (for curry alone, naan is cooked fresh so has a little wait) and open late. I would definitely recommend checking it out. We dont live in the city but this is our regular go-to and we will detour here on our way home after work or sports just to get this curry.
Cheap n good variety
Such a great place to get super tasty and cheap Indian food. Highly recommend the butter chicken, mango chicken and garlic naan. Also very popular due to the consistency in great food.
Absolutely love The Indian Kitchen. They re all so lovely. Big servings and value for money. Taste is 10/10. Definitely recommend.
Always an excellent feed. Cheese and garlic nan to die for
Lovely place but my order wasntnthst tastey
Tasty and cheap Indian delights
Delicious food and lovely staff, and good value. I ate here a while back and thoroughly enjoyed the spread. It s humble and generous with an authentic feel of Indian hospitality. Many thanks for our delicious spontaneous meal.
Wonderful food. Needs more vegan options.
These guys have genuinely ruined my partner and I being able to get curry from anywhere else! There butter chicken and there garlic naans are the best value for money and they are delicious. The owners remember customers which is sweet
Can only be described as the McDonalds of Indian food
Really good price/quality.
Great value
Still a great restaurant (over 20 years) to have a meal or takeaway !
Best Indian in Brisbane
Excellent food and service all round. Very kind and thoughtful staff. Thank you for holding the Naan bread for me which I forgot..We loved our lunch today.
Ordered a range of things, think that the curry here is quite good and cheap. Really worth it. The naan wasn t too great though, a bit too floury and tough for me - thus if you are going here, do get the curry and rice deals because they are not only good but worth it as well!
Good food and tasty ..
Great vegan options, amazing food and lovely staff who always service quickly and friendly. Super affordable and delicious 5/5
Great Indian food. Simple. Honest. Cheap. What else?
Delicious, flavourful food at great prices. Best Indian food in town!
Very popular for eat in and take away
Great place to dine nice food and great service. every time we in Brisbane we go to eat there. recommended
The butter chicken was far too sweet. So disappointed as I d read good reviews but this food doesn t even taste like curry, no spice at all :(
Please STOP putting sugar in ALL your curries!!! It tastes awful, just dont cook with sugar at all unless it is golab. And stop being insolent you know when you are adding sugar to your cooking. Sugar kills peoples health, just STOP cooking with it.
Best value for money indian on the south side Change my mind
Wouldnt recommend. Have been there and been totally ignored by the owner and walked out. Saw her cleaning around the curries with what looked like a pretty dirty wash cloth and have also had problems doing deliveries with them. Have eaten their samosas before and I thought they were the best I have tried but went back for a second time and they were rock hard like they had been sitting there all day. Proceed with caution there is definitely better places in Brisbane.
Good value, large selection of curries.
Good service, good price, good food
When choosing between two rentals, the deciding factor was proximity to Indian Kitchen.
Great local indian restaurant. High quality and affordable food. Always happy to see you and serve up an excellent meal.
It didnt look like much from the street, HOWEVER... the indian food was fresh and very tasty, I thought the portion sizes were great value for the price. Lovely staff. Good range of dine-in or take-out options.
The best Indian food in Brisbane! Always so fresh, amazing customer service and such a humble store. The naan breads are out of this world and made to order, they are worth the wait! I would sell my soul for the dhal recipe, that with a little vindaloo sauce on top is my idea of heaven. It s amazing value for money and I ve never had a sub par meal from here. Takeaway or dine in, the quality is so damn good!
Very bland veggie curry and rice. Samosa and onion are bland as well. Garlic naan was good. Overall very bad experience with the food. Staff not helpful. They look like they are doing their customers a favor by serving them food.
The sign said $8 for the vege curry with rice. I didnt want any rice so I was charged $14. I wont be going back here ever again. The curry was pretty ordinary.
Such lovely service, so cheap and such good tasty food! Cant possibly give less than 5 starts.
Good like any other place and cheap as well, I definitely recommend it. Although they are currently temporarily closed
Smiling to your customers is free
Great food and absolutely priced accordingly cant say much about the authenticity of the dishes but people who are in the know think its good (and thats good enough for me). I love the pickles, chutneys, naans with different fillings and the veg curry. The ladies are always pleasant and give great helpings. Love the fact that this is such a local and family run business.
Enjoyed a tasty meal here. The friendly staff and good food make this a regular choice when in the area.
Probably came here for the first time in 2014/15, got a quick dinner here on the way home recently and regretted it. This place used to be an institution but the taste/quality definitely isnt there. Got a lamb and a veg curry with rice, the chickpeas in the veg curry werent cooked properly and everything tasted pretty mediocre. I wouldnt have thought much of it or cared enough to review except I was sick the next day and a half. Wont be back.
Food is absolute yum-yumsta! They even have Rose Lassi! Bring it one, babe! The only small disadvantage is that because the place is very popular - it get really busy there and they only have 1 person behind the counter, so the line of people waiting for food gets really looooong that you have to wait for at least a half an hour to grab that yum-yummy butter chicken. Otherwise, absolute yum-yumsta is the food here!
Terrible customer service
Excellent quality food, we eat here a lot and not once had a chewy bit or anything else unsatisfying. Very affordable and delicious fresh naans, great service and who doesnt love BYO at no extra cost/corkage.
First time went in, bought a biriyani and a naan bread. Guess what the biriyani was tasteless and oily, there were too many cardamom and cloves. It didn t taste like a biriyani to me. The naan was ok not that great They need to focus on the customer service to be honest.
Absolutely amazing food!!
Food was bad. Service was bad. Mood was sombre. Overpriced. Had high hopes but thoroughly disappointed.
Great food, friendly staff, their aloo paranthas and naan are my favourite. Just they could introduce more options in curries especially vegetarian ones.
We have been coming to this little gem for years.. and as always they were awesome
Best meat and chicken samosas in Brisbane. Id recommend trying their Naans too, including their stuffed Naans. Yum! Tasty Indian food for something from a Food Display Cabinet. Very cheap/affordable, given the generous serving sizes. Some staff are a bit hard to communicate with and there isnt much seating/nothing classy but it still deserves a 5 star given their prices, fresh Naans and samosas are unbeatable (given the prime West End location they are in)!
Rrally good price and portions
Best food ever and at a great price.
Vegetable curry tasted old, blant with a weird sour taste not typical of indian sabji, was rather expensive being $8 for a very small portion with a couple of slices of potatoe, green peas and beans. Samosa was ok and deserves a star. Overall a very poor experience will not return unfortunately.
Very bad food and sErvice.
A West End icon. Great curries at very affordable cost. Lassis are a treat as well.
Great place to get awesome food
My favourite local Indian takeaway. Always good.
The food here are made to eat immediately if you plan to take home put it in fridge you cant eat it this is not Indian at all. All curries are just full of sugar and Nam is just terrible
Been coming here for literally years. Great flavour and great prices. Always friendly staff. One of our favourites and we no longer live local or wed be here much more often.
When I lived just around the corner, I had Indian Kitchen for dinner two nights a week for several years.
I liked the butter chicken and rice, though it s lacking something.... Aloo paratha (Potato naan)was good different. Veg kadhi was not something I d order again, I had a few spoons to try it and it went to waste. Onion Bhagi was ok.
The mango chicken and garlic & cheese naan! Do yourself a flavour and try it.
Was okay for the price. Worth a try
Cheap, decent white people Indian food. Lets be honest here, the attraction here is the price and quick service. The food is not bad, I like it; but theres a reason why out of the years that Ive been going here Ive never seen an Indian eating here.
Good curries at very affordable prices. Always fresh and large servings. You wouldnt be disappointed .
The food was OK and the quantity given for the price was great... The food was tasty but sugary... I would have expected smile while serving the food but was disappointed... Hope they improve their services in future
top class cheap and great food, delicious fresh roti and all round great westend vibe
I did the dirty and ordered a butter chicken, only to receive overcooked chicken pieces in a combination of tomato sauce and curry spices. The Naan was reasonable however for the average curry that I expected I had what can only be described as an 8 year olds unattended attempt at a curry. For them to bungle the most basic if curries was a straight up affront to Indian cuisine.
The butter chicken was bright red and tasted like tomato sauce from the bottle. The drumsticks were grey and made us ill. The saffron rice was watery and tasteless.
I dont recommend it. Eating is not fresh. And the spices are not good.
Very fast but food is mostly mediocre. Pretty good service though.
Great food and great service with great prices.
Bland old food. Please stop cooking. It use to be best Indian takeaway, last one year they have been changed totally.shame
Yum
This a classic neighbourhood joint with family service and friendly staff always willing to help. For is quite adequate for a takeaway joint and the variety of nan beads goes beyond the usual expectations. Food is very tasty, likely to be authentic while only moderately spicy and the portions generous. Highly liked by its west end locals. Great character and quirky atmosphere. Good vegetarian options.
Been going to this place for 15 years and its still the best value for money. Food is delicious and servings are generous
Cheapest authentic Indian food in brisbane. Service is fast and the food is delicious.
Used to be my togo place when I fancy curry and naan. Naan was okay, but curry was definitely lack of some flavors. Feels very diluted and watery. I may need to stop going this place I guess.
Great food and value love it and I can assure Ill be back
My favourite Indian place. The naan bread is amazing! Definitely worth the wait for it!
Good food never stops.
Average food at a decent price! The butter chicken is horrible ! No cream or nothing but the mango chicken is decent. And at $8 its a great deal
Really great food and everyone was friendly. Never had India before but I recommend it and look forward to Going back
Not paying to staff properly. Really abusive and crucial toward employees. Exploitation of international student. Bad treatment , not respect to employees.
Best Indian food in the area! Especially love the mango chicken and butter chicken but all are awesome . As is the garlic & cheese naan bread. Now has eftpos to make purchases easier.
Best Indian and amazing value
Tasty Indian food. Great prices. We especially liked the mango chicken.
Affordable, tasty and good portion size. My go to take-away :)
Excellent value for money and great friendly staff
Best curry in Brisbane. So much love into the food. Will not regret. Great value
Best value healthy veg options in Brisbane!
Fantastic food and service
Be weary the herb garlic naan bread has capsicum in it. XD.
Love their hospitality, nice food
Never a terrible meal, best delicious meals ice had, beautiful staff, and feel luckiness if you are Blessed with beautiful Rosnibi, heart of gold and deserves an achievement award. Thank you for this great great beautiful place for myself. Legends. And the way they handled coronavirous. Number. And those naan and curries delight me every time. Thanks for the best Indian Ive experienced. And Ive been around. Roshini awards are needed plea
The taste is average. Good value for money. There is no much vibe, just a fast food place.
Very low quality and under average taste of food. You better pay five bucks more and have a decent meal.
Great Indian food
Extremely poor service. The staff just throws the food on the table.
Great place for a quick Indian treats or takeaways. Service is always friendly, been coming back here for quite a long time now and will keep coming back.
5 star, enough said.
Long term West End institution, The Indian Kitchen is the best spot for a cheap and quick curry.
Inexpensive sustenance
amazing food
Best Naan bread in Brisbane. You will be blown away with their Garlic Cheese, Herb Cheese and Garlic, or Spinach Cheese and Garlic Naan. They use a real tandoori oven which gets that perfect smoky crispy texture. Also keep your eyes out for their mango chicken curry - it is creamy, saucy and tender - perfect for dipping their fresh naan. We come to Indian Kitchen basically every week
Avoid at all cost. The food is bland, cheap and nasty and it had obviously been sitting there all day since it made me ill the following day. The woman who owns it speaks very poorly to her staff also. I wish Id left after witnessing that and saved myself the grief.
