Zazu Dining & Bar in West End

Celebrated our 1st wedding anniversary at Zazu and couldn t pick a better spot. Food was amazing and we loved the atmosphere.

Went there last night since I have been meaning to eat there. I am assuming the dining manager took our order since he was the guy directing the waitstaff around. We ordered 2 orders of plain oysters, 2 rib eye steaks, and a roasted chicken, a glass of moscato, and a cranberry juice. We waited for almost an hour for the food to be served. The waitstaffs kept passing by with food for people who came later than us and never bothered to check on us. After an hour, they served the fresh oysters withsome weird aftertaste and the steak after a few more minutes. They got one order wrong since they told us that the lamb shank will be sent out in a moment but we didnt order one. So they whip out the roast chicken which looked more of a fried chicken to me rather than roasted. They offered a complimentary fries which arrived the last instead of giving some while we paaaatiently wait that we never get to enjoy. The dining manager offered to take the chicken out of the bill since he said that that was the way they do their chicken. I am attaching the photo for reference. Anyway, I am not after free food, i am after a good gastronomic experience. I am not sure if I wanna go back but the desserts look promising.

We have been to ZaZu a number of times and have never been disappointed. The staff are attentive and are highly skilled. The food is exceptional. Love the Lunch Menu, excellent choices. By the way, their cocktails are delicious too. It is easy to spend a whole afternoon at ZaZu, enjoying the experience. Its quickly turning into our GoTo place of choice. Thank you!! The experience was great, the service was unforgettable and the food was not bad at all. All the team members are always very friendly and take care of what you ask for, the food is certainly up to the standards of the prices and expectations. I would recommend it for the quiet and spectacularly decorated atmosphere it has, and they are always willing to give recommendations about decorating dishes or drinks . Today was my second visit and the service and food are still at the same standards

I would have given this restaurant six stars if I could have. The food was amazing, the staff and the owner even better and the atmosphere was wonderful. The menu prices were surprisingly reasonable. This was the first time we have been to Zazu as we live in Canberra. We visit Brisbane irregularly but next time I m in town I will be making a bee line straight to West End and Zazu. I ve told everyone I met in Queensland about Zazu and I know several who will be making reservations shortly. That you for a great experience. Parking: Next door in the shopping centre car park.

My friend and I decided to visit for the first time for their Super Tuesday menu. Our reservation was at 19.30, however I got there early at 19.15 and was told by the host I was too early and they had no tables ready, despite there being empty tables on the floor space. Fair enough, I waited elsewhere (bear in mind it was pouring outside) and returned promptly at 19.30, just to be led to an empty table that I had seen earlier! My friend arrived and we ordered at around 19.45, entrees did not arrive until 20.30. After a while, a waiter came to ask if we were waiting for our desserts, to which we said we were still waiting on our mains, he was as surprised as we were. I ordered a second glass of wine. Mains finally arrived at 21.30. Still no wine. It took several reminders to several different waitstaff for the wine to arrive. All the while I was watching the bar staff just hanging around . 22.00 comes and we decided to leave without the desserts. It was just too late in the night. Fortunately, our waitress was lovely and we were still able to get the 50% deal with just two courses. Overall, would not recommend and would not visit again. A total of a two hour wait for the mains is just ludicrous. Speaking from someone who works in hospitality and have worked in busy restaurants before, the service was way too slow, wait time was way too long and the food was mediocre. Very disappointed.

Came here on a date with my little one. There was a Man who seated us, who was also very rude. We asked for a menu on a Tuesday night and the guy immediately thought we were there for their Tuesday special and told us that we are not eligible as the Tuesday menu is only for 2 adults. Felt abit disrespected the entire time and had to wait almost an hour to get served due to being seated upstairs. Wouldn t recommend going here if you have kids. Kid-friendliness: Not kid friendly

Went in for the lunch special, mains took 1.5hours to be served after our entrees. I ordered the oysters for the entree, no disclaimer was provided that there was an additional cost nor the waitress said anything. Food was good.

Food was ok but not great for the price. They charged me a no-show fee despite dining in at the restaurant. Got it sorted after calling the restaurant the next day but very inconvenient. I personally wouldnt recommend the restaurant

Outside seating provides the perfect environment for conversation with friends. Food is tasty, well presented and serving sizes are about right. Three of us had the two course lunch special - the menu could be a bit more explicit in explaining that several items attract an extra cost. Service is attentive with being obtrusive. Good selection of wines.

Had a steak night here with the rib eye filet. It must be the most chewy rib eye I ever had. For $40 probably better not to have it. Not recommended. The Negroni was decent though.

We stopped by ZaZu for dinner before heading to the ballet. The cocktails were fantastic, and the staff were friendly, which made a great first impression. But unfortunately, the experience didn t quite live up to expectations. It took almost an hour for our mains to come out, and when they did, the steaks were a letdown. One was overcooked and chewy, and the other (also medium-rare) was cold. After such a long wait, it was disappointing that the food didn t hit the mark. The place has a lot of potential, and the vibe was great, but I hope the kitchen can improve on timing and consistency.

Delicious Food

Enjoyed the whole time we were there. Celebrated our anniversary & the staff were so welcoming & made us feel extra special without being over the top. Food was amazing so tasty & cooked perfectly. The scallops in shell, chicken kaarage & the pork gyoza were out of this world! That Szechuan sauce needs to be bottled! The lamb shoulder is tempting us to return.

What a wild menu! From bao buns to lamb shoulder there is a LOT going on. All of it very tasty, the only so so was the Vegetarian Lasagne. Cocktails, fabulous! Mocktails also fabulous. Really loved the space and keen to go back. There s a little to explore in that wild menu.

Large group that was well catered for. The portions are generous, the cocktails are inventive. Chips and sides were yummy was not partial to the sauce on the lamb and also the duck pancakes but others loved it.

Chicken Bao Buns were delicious and the 3 course menu option including espresso martini was well priced. My barramundi was good except the sauce (a lot of it) was quite sweet and overpowering for the fish. Some more wine options under $60 per bottle would be good, as there were only 2 and 1 not available, we were offered an alternate but was almost $100 which was a bit rich for Sav Blanc, especially when offering 2-3 bottles for the table. While our waitress was lovely, 2 other staff were abrupt and quite grumpy, so not great. The steak ordered was medium rare and came very rare, so had to be redone, also took a while to get a staff members attention to fix this, service could definitely be improved

We visited Zazu for the first time to have lunch recently after seeing many of the positive reviews online. We were also aware of the few reviews which highlighted the concerns with the wait time for food, but thought we would give Zazu a try regardless. We allocated two hours to our lunch and felt that would be enough time. We were the third group of two to arrive at 11:30am, and ordered our food within 5 mins. We ordered three entrees and two mains. The entrees came out promptly and were great. Lovely presentation and flavours. We experienced a good start to our meal and were looking forward to our mains. Unfortunately, we did not get our mains until 12:55pm (over 1 hour after we had placed the order). I believe that we would have been required to wait longer for our mains, however I politely asked the waitress to follow up our order as we needed to leave the venue by 1:30pm. I feel that it is considerate and courteous to let patrons know if they are required to wait an hour or more for their meals. Our steaks were also underwhelming and not cooked as we had requested. The venue is well styled and has a great atmosphere. I am sure that on a good day, this venue has the potential to be very enjoyable. I also believe that they have difficulty with consistently getting their meals out in a prompt manner (as you can see this common thread throughout previous reviews). I hope the team at Zazu are able to take on this feedback in a constructive manner.

Went for lunch with my husband on Wednesday to try it. From start to finish it was about 3 hours. We sat down before 12pm and left straight for school pickup. We ordered 2-course lunch special (incl drinks it was $140. They offered a free wine because I complained about the long wait). There are additional charges to the lunch deal, so read the fine print. The restaurant wasn t full, there was a big table but still quite a bit of empty space. It took ages to get seated, then menu, then order, it then over 1.5 hour between starter and main. The food was nice, but the whole experience wasn t great I m afraid. Same complaint as the some of the others, very long wait.

Unfortunately, our dining experience was disappointing. The food itself was good, made with fresh ingredients, though the crab lasagna was slightly salty. Drinks were enjoyable as well. However, the wait time was unacceptable. We ordered around 7:20 pm and didn t receive our entrées until 8:00 pm, with the mains arriving at 8:35 pm only after asking twice. While staff mentioned the kitchen was busy with multiple orders, no one returned with updates. Additionally, water wasn t refilled without prompting, and the staff appeared preoccupied with their tablets, seemingly focused on table layouts instead of service. For a restaurant of this price and calibre, this level of service fell short.

Delicious food and great range of new cocktails

Need more resources. Wanted to leave after 2 hours, they proceed to assure main are coming although. After 2 hours we had only received a starter and a drink. The starter we had was lovely but not enough to redeem the wait time with a pathetic glass of prosecco as an apology.

Visited Zazu on Thursday night and had the steak special. Was a little under cooked for medium rare but otherwise was delicious and would recommend. Staff and service very good

The food was nice enough so long as you have all night to eat. This was the second time dining at Zazu - the service was slow the first time but we thought wed give them a second chance. We had a 6:45 PM reservation for 4 people, and after a leisurely 2 hours and 45 minutes for 3 courses, we finally rolled out at 9:30 PM full but tired. We ordered cold entrees (oysters and beef carpaccio) which took 45 minutes to arrive. Our mains were equally tardy, with three barramundi dishes and a roast chicken all served with some variation of a puree (likely pre-prepared) and some vegetables, showing up at 8:20 PM (50 minutes after the entrees were served). We then waited another hour for dessert to be served (crème brulee and chocolate tarts). We assumed these would also be somewhat pre-prepared, especially as the crème brulee is served cold except for the toffee on top but they didnt come out until 9:20pm. Our parking had lapsed by then so we had accepted the fact that we would now have to pay for parking too. We could see one of the waiters was doing is best (or looking like he was trying to anyway...) but there was no communication throughout the evening of why there was such a delay or how long the wait on meals would, we also had to try and catch someone, anyone to ask for more water but attentiveness was few and far between. The table next to us was there for just over 2 hours, they finished their bottle of wine and only got served their entrees in that time - again cold entrees (one serve of oysters and one burrata). They ended up leaving before their mains were served. Between mains and dessert the waiter brought a round of Prosecco for our whole section - a nice gesture sure, but 3 out of the 4 of us on our table werent intending on drinking that night. While the food was nice enough it simply doesnt make up for the poor service and it certainly wasnt amazing for the prices (thank goodness we went on cheaper Tuesday). The service was truly one of the poorest and slowest we have ever experienced anywhere in the world. Im sorry to say we wont be back.

I booked for a table of 12 recently, and while we found the food very good, the service was very much lacking. I understand they were short staffed, but there did not appear to be any control or direction of the 2 waiting staff by who I assumed was the manager. Drinks orders took a long time to be taken, and we had to ask for drinks menus. Food came in a reasonable time, and the food is very good. However, some parts of the orders were missing and the 2nd course for several diners came nearly an hour after the entrees. Zazu really needs to tighten up their front of house service. Overall a reasonable experience.

We booked a table for 6 and when we arrived were shown to a table with settings for 4. This was queried and were informed that they were aware it was for 6. After numerous requests, the cutlery arrived. Water was requested and forgotten. The waitress had to be reminded. Also we were informed there was no bao buns and no lasagne which was very poor for a Saturday night. Our meals were ordered and after numerous requests, they arrived 2 hours later. Three steak meals were ordered. The first one was brown on the outside but raw in the middle. Needless to say it was returned. After waiting 2 hours for our meal, a new steak was declined as not prepared to wait a further 2 hours. The other steak meals were cold and the steak was poor quality. They were served on a bed of cold mash. This was a birthday celebration so it was a big letdown for the birthday lady. Even though we received an apology it was not good enough for a restaurant of this calibre. Would not recommend this restaurant at all.

Found out about this restaurant on Facebook, loved it, atmosphere and vibe very cool.. Note to self, catch an uber, was keen to taste more of the drink selection food was wonderful. Service excellent, French waiters and waitresses . I ll be back. Food

We were so glad we decided to eat at Zazu, every single dish we ordered was unbelievable in taste and the presentation. The service was fabulous, along with the atmosphere. We will be back without a doubt. This restaurant is so good! You ll definitely enjoy your dining experience with Zazu.

Very enjoyable food, star of the show for me was the Carpaccio Beef followed by the Baked Brie. Cockails were also fantastic. Staff seemed a litle dazed and confused. We ended up having Cassie as our server towards the end and she saved the experience, she was a gem.

We booked Zazu just to try out a different restaurant. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, but this hit the spot. A bonus as it was steak night on Thursday, so was not just impressed by the quality, but also came at a special price. Only problem was there were so many other things on the menu, we will need to go back again.

Sat for 1 hour and only had entre, service was really slow. Chips were brought to the table after the meal was finished. The food was very tasty however the experience was lacking due to the slow service

We had a lovely meal however the service was extremely slow, over an over here and we only had starters. Ordered chips with the main which didn t arrive until mains were almost finished. Shame as the food was really nice.

Saw the promotions on Instagram for 2 course lunches for $35 - and it didnt disappoint! I got the chicken bao buns which were excellent. Then I got the barramundi - friends got the eye fillet for $6 extra which were both cooked well. I will be back and keen to try more as the lamb shank looks amazing! The food is unreal. Every meal I have tasted at Zazu is well-balanced regarding flavour. After a 3 course meal, I always leave feeling comfortably satisfied. The cocktails are delicious too!

Unable to fathom the inexperience this restaurant has both in food quality and service management. Unfortunately a place I would not waste my time returning to. Food was average and expensive, atmosphere was underwhelming. Ordered medium rare steak and it was well over cooked. Seems their retention to keep customers happy isn t their focus and I hope they can do better for the sake of the West Village atmosphere.

We had the 3 course Tuesday lunch special. Now even though they were obviously short staffed, the service and food was exceptional. Value for money was excellent.

The waiter doesn t like customer be honest with their food, you can only say is great, everything is perfect Otherwise the waiter will give you a lesson, and said he was head chef back in his country So just lie to the waiter, unless you want to see the waiter shakes his head on you

I go with friends and family to Zazu up to 3 times at week and it has been very good. Unfortunately due to medical reasons I have to take a few accompaniments with me to add to my meals but out of the blue on Friday when I was meeting a friend for dinner the new Manager would not let me bring this on the restaurant. I left and went to a nearby restaurant who had no problem with this. I have cancelled 4 future reservations and will no longer return as a result. Very disappointed that the new Manager will not enable me dine because of this rule so I will take myself and several other customers elsewhere where we are welcomed. It is a shame that the new Manager is not embracing of people like myself who have special needs.

Delicious food, but 1.5 hours to wait for a main is a bit ridiculous. From the time we sat down until the time we were served our dessert, it had been over 2 hours. If it s a busy night, you need to employ more staff. Credit where credit is due though, the food was amazing.

We came to Zazu to celebrate our 2nd year wedding anniversary and it was the best experience. The atmosphere was lively, the staff were exceptional and Gus really looked after us. The food was delicious and the portion sizes were huge. 10/10!!

Love steak night! Love the service as well and i love how thoughtful they were. I usually like sitting at specific areas of a restaurant and they definitely accommodated us. Food s yum!

Walked in as a group of four for steak night and were seated immediately. Our seats were on the second floor, and it felt more private compared to the lower floor, which I liked. Our server, Gus, was very friendly, playful, and our group enjoyed his jokes. We ordered the baked brie to share, and two of us ordered the rib-eye fillet, and two of us ordered the spinalis wagyu steak. I ordered the spinalis wagyu steak and it was the best steak Ive had in Brisbane so far. The medium steak was tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned. The accompanying miso jus and Crying Tiger salsa dipping sauce complimented the steak, my personal favourite would be the salsa sauce. The asparagus was lightly seasoned and perfectly cooked and our whole table absolutely fell in love with the mash potatoes. The mash potatoes were fluffy, creamy, buttery and addicting (some of us were even contemplating on asking how it was made). Overall, $50 for a steak meal is a great deal and I would recommend giving it a try.

We went for steak night. Our steak was excellent. Cooked the way I asked, full of flavour and juicy. The edamame were excellent. However the margarita cocktail wasn t that great, low tide and not presented well, but otherwise we had a super evening .

Great service otherwise middling food. I tried the chicken katsu which was as dry as any typical parmigiana, and crab lasagne which was good although having a small serving size with the obligatory wide brimmed plate you find in west end. This asian fusion cuisine left me hoping for more, while charging more than most Food

The restaurant fit out is done to a high standard however don t be fooled, this was the worst steak I ve been served in years. Presentation and quality poor. Requested medium rare steak, yet received a rare steak, which was sent back only to receive the same steak cooked slightly more, yet still underdone. Thankfully the side sauce made the meal edible. Requested wine and water, but received only wine. Was only offered water whilst paying the bill. They offer rare cuts but this is not a quality steak restaurant.

Set course lunch was great value, even my son age 8 ate all 3 courses. Beef Carpaccio was a standout, you get 2 chicken bao buns per serving which could fill you up if you have a small appetite. We had steak and barramundi for mains, they were cooked well and great portion size. Next time we will skip the chocolate caramel tarts and have sorbet only. Lots of choices for cocktails, great for girls lunch out.

What a great place! Was walking past and noticed their 2 & 3 course lunch offer. Very good value for what you get, as their food is fantastic. They also have a comprehensive drinks menu with some incredible prices. Will definitely be coming back!

Service is a really important part of a dining experience. You really notice it when its no good. Wed been planning to go here for a while and liked the many varied options on the menu. We were so taken with the entrees and couldnt narrow them down that we just decided to order five of them, and we asked our waitress if they could all be served together.This was affirmed. We ordered chicken and beef yakitori skewers, zucchini and some fries to share, plus duck bao buns for me. The initial impression wasnt great. 15 minutes after ordering our drinks the barman started shouting toward our server, who had run past them multiple times, to take them to our table. She seemed to be moving at high speed the whole time we were there, not sure it was to any great effect. Shortly afterward both skewers arrived and were very nice. I can recommend both. After 10 minutes however it looked like the rest of the food was either delayed or forgotten or ? We flagged down the front of house guy to ask what was going on and he apologised, saying that the system worked by placing two entrees and the rest as mains, despite us specifically clarifying at the outset that they should come together. A full 40 minutes later the zucchini, fries and bao buns appeared. My wife wasnt having the bao buns, so she ended up with two meats followed ages later by two sides. It was kind of crazy. How anyone looking at our order could assume that was what we wanted was pretty baffling. The general indifference to this, the failure to do anything about the two early dishes that sat uncleared, failure to ask if wed like another round on our long empty drinks or any attempt to make things right just left for a sour overall experience. If service was better wed have enjoyed this place, but as it happens it ruined our evening.

We visited for an early dinner during their 50% Tuesday promotion, so we anticipated a busy time. Unfortunately, we were unprepared for the over-hour wait for our main courses and an additional half hour for dessert. For mains, we tried the crab lasagne and lamb shank. Both dishes were enjoyable but not exceptional enough for us to return. The real disappointment came with dessert. We ordered the chocolate fondant, expecting a molten center, but it arrived as a rock-solid mud cake with a layer of chocolate frosting on top. When we asked the waitstaff about it, they informed us that this is how it is served at Zazu. It was a disappointing end to the meal. Although I usually dont emphasise service in my reviews, the floor managers rudeness and abruptness really stood out. I wish l could give this restaurant a 0 for customer service . We got there for my daughter s birthday. The manager looked shocked as if we had no reservation made , after that it took about almost two hours to get our main courses , after l asked what was taking so long . I saw people who came before us get served and leave , as we were almost leaving , they offered us complimentary coke and wine which they spilt on my 18!months year old daughter and my sister . Our receipt was also over billed . So disappointed

Talk about melt In your mouth.....the steak, the rib eye fillet was actually to die for and SO soft!!. I have never had such an experience, our entire night was fantastic and I mean it when I say this steak was cooked to perfection, I almost didnt even need to cut it, the scallops to start were beautiful, the freshest tomatos I have ever had with the buratta. 10/10 service and attentiveness, we can not fault this place, 9 year anniversary and they held space for us to bring our pram with our 4 month old, this place blew away my expectations. Thank you so much

The food was amazing as usual, however, the service that was given to us by the manager on the day which was Wednesday 18/9 for lunch was so unpleasant, he forgot to attend to us on every occasion and only topped up our wine glass once, we had to do it ourselves, he forgot to bring the glass of ice we asked for, our food order was delayed for ages as he didnt come back and get it. He never smiled or spoke to us at all, it was such a horrible experience, that I hope it doesnt happen again, I live in West End and Ive taken many friends there, and wish to continue going, but he needs to change

Delicious food. My husband and I ordered off the lunch menu and really enjoyed the food that was served up. Honestly, I couldn t flaw any of the dishes. I would definitely go back. We went into Zazu for Wednesday night steak night, and what a lovely surprise! The venue was clean, modern, comfortable and fresh. The service was warm, friendly, and welcoming. And the steaks were the best!

We were disappointed with the level of service during our visit. We waited over 30 minutes before being approached by the wait staff to take our drink and meal orders. When our drinks finally arrived, only one of them was served. Despite asking for the second drink twice, it never arrived, yet we were charged for both. Additionally, we requested condiments twice, but they arrived only at the end of our meal.

What an incredible dining/service experience paired perfectly with mouth watering food. The crab lasagne was absolutely phenomenal - but for me, the hero dish of the night, had to be the Spinalis Steak. I can t wait to visit again soon!

If you check images, there are timestamps for when we have received each course. We arrived at 6 p.m. and ordered four entrees, three mains, and two desserts for three people. The entrees arrived at 6:30 p.m., which was great. However, the food overall was not hot and lacked flavor. Our mains arrived an hour and 15 minutes later, cold and bland. We had hoped to be prioritized for dessert after already being seated for two hours, but instead, we received gelato that we didn t order, and the rest of the desserts were served 30 minutes after we finished our mains. We came to the restaurant with no expectations since it was offering a promotion of 50% off a three-course meal, but we left feeling dissatisfied. We spent more time watching other customers arrive, eat, and leave. Disappointment is an understatement. Unless you have three hours to spare for dinner, I do not recommend this restaurant. .

Kora service was incredible and the food was beautiful

We dined at Zazu on their Thu steak night. Food was not bad and the cocktail were excellent. We have the crab meet lasagne as an entree to share, sauce is tasty but cannot quite taste the crab. The steak is bit dry and sauce is unconventional. The service is average as we ordered wagyu steak and the wait person placed some other steak for us. Also there is barely any walking space for the staff and they have constantly kicked the back of my chair. Sorry I won t go back and recommend, at least for now. Hopefully this can be improved.

Great food and wine selection But the most kudos are for being super kind. The manager helped me when i needed water for my dog without me eating or being there ever before. Good humans Food

On a cloudy Monday during the school holidays, my dear old friend and I stumbled upon Zazu and were delighted with the ambient surrounds, the fresh eclectic menu and the friendly, attentive service from Guillaume. We shared a delicate salmon carpaccio, a spicy Thai beef salad and a decadent bowl of fries with truffle Mayo washed down with a couple of glasses of smooth roses. Yum! Well be back!

We had the most amazing service , experience and dinner at ZaZu on the weekend . We were greeted by the lovely head of service waiter , he then escorted us to our table upstairs and introduced us to our waitress for the evening , Kora . Well what can I say , Kora was the most amazing friendliest waitress we have ever come across , she made our dining experience one of the best to date . Her friendly nature and service was next to none and we could not rate our night highly enough . We can not wait to dine back again and hopefully have Kora as our waitress . That just the service !! Well what can I say about the food ! The most delicious, flavorful meal we have eaten in quite some time . The attention to detail on every plate was incredible and the flavors were out of this world . Do yourself a favor and dine at ZaZu Parking: Woolworths car park is free for two hours and longer on weekends I believe .

Food was good but i dont understand why you are handed a menu with some nice options on the first page that says Thursday Only on an insert that looks like it was made to be customisable. Why are you putting this into your menu and give it to customers 7 days a week when its only served once.. Also the tap beer of Great Northern was a bit flat might want to check the keg.

Stopped into Zazu s for lunch on a girls day out in the West Village with my family on a Saturday lunch. Really surprised to find the restaurant to be quiet! We had a super pleasant meal and the atmosphere is very chic and calming. All the staff were super pleasant, attentive and accomodating to our table as we were on a bit of a time crunch so the service was very quick and efficient. There were plenty of veggie options and I really enjoyed the mushroom gyozas and veggie lasagna, and the lunch time specials made it a super convenient but nice place to eat out if on a budget too! We ve been here monthly for date night since they introduced Thursday Steak Night. But today was shocker, I m not one to complain and sometimes the restaurants have an off night! But we ordered or usual medium rare eye fillet Thursday night special, but is was still moooing, and no signs of grilling, after three attempts, yes you read right. 3 attempts, the manager Gary, informed me the head chef was in hospital so the souz chef was in charge. On the third unsuccessful attempt, they took my dish away to show someone but then never informed me what was going on! Both the manager and waitress passed by but no comment. I was so embarrassed. They offered a free drink! Ok but what about dinner? They seemed to then ignore us. So we left! Sorry never done that before but it shouldn t be stressful to have date night. Not sure if we ll be back anytime soon How embarrassing. The couple on the table next to us said there s was also raw, it was there first time, had heard such good things, but this was just as shame. Parking: 3 hrs free in shopping centre

When you think of a $30 Steak night you wouldnt think it would be that good. But the eye fillet was cooked to perfection! Jodies steak was abit too well done but still good. It was seasoned well and melts in your mouth delicious. The sauces were really nice too but I didnt think it needed it. The mash and asparagus was delicious too. I could have had two of them if we didnt have entrees . All the dishes we had were super tasty except the salmon. It lacked flavour which was abit disappointing. But still edible. Oh and the tempura calamari batter was so thick it wasnt nice at all. The service was lacking and all over the place. The waiters just standing around while we wait to have order taken. We also waited for over an hour for our mains to come. This is our 3rd time so not sure if we would come back as service did not improve at all.

Dont go to the hole of place. I went tonight 19 July 2024 with a friend and we waited for 2hrs for our dinner. Their apology was 2 free drinks when the dinner cost over $200 dollars. Terrible service. I had never waited for 2 hours not even in hungry jacks. The Senior Manager needs some customer service skills. The only nice person was David , the guy on the reservations desk apart from that this place is disappointing. Waiting 2 hours and asking us to pay for the whole meal. What a joke. If U ARE hungry DONT GO TO THIS PLACE.... DISGUSTING... I will make sure to share this review everywhere including where I work which is a newspaper organisation.

Ive been coming here since it opened and theres plenty of things to love about it. Thursday night $30 steaks are amazing. Pair it with a gorgeous old fashioned and some sides and its a perfect mid week dinner. My favourite item on the menu though has to be the lamb shoulder. Just writing about it in this review is making my mouth water. Charlotte took care of us on Thursday night and she was fabulous. Made my brother and I feel right at home.

Awesome food and atmosphere! Perfect for a date night but to also enjoy some great Eurasian food. We were recommended to get the Crab Lasagne (it tasted great but because the sauce is pretty creamy we suggest getting this to share rather then having the whole lasagne by yourself), also got the crispy skinned pork belly, calamari tempura and a few sides (broccolini and zucchini, duck fat potato and Japanese fried rice). All tasted great . They also do special steak night and happy hour for drinks! Gotta come back and try that and other things on the menu. Parking: Parking in west village, first 3 hours free.

We had dinner for a 30th birthday celebration. The food was great. Not a good option for kids though. We booked an early seating (5:30) to accommodate to having kids with us. The table wasn t set out with the high chair requested and I advised we also had a 2 week old baby. There was barely room for a pram and we only got it in and out with much shuffling and disruption to other diners. Disappointing on that side and that there was no place setting for our 2 year old grandson. We did enjoy the food, but wouldn t rave about it.

Exceptional service and a scrumptious menu, the crab meat Lasagna is to die for and the steaks were cooked to perfection. Highly recommended

Had a nice dinner last night with my girls. We loved the service and most of the dishes were really really delicious. The wait staff we had for our table who was a tall man with european accent he was very friendly and patient while taking orders for us and made us all very comfortable. We were slightly disappointed with chicken roulade but we left feeling full and pleasant. If I could recommend a dish it would be japanese fried rice. Next thing was we were seated right at the entrance where check in was happening so I believe its a manager, correct me if I am wrong, who was a lady in black outfit she looked bit unhappy with our table, kept giving some looks to our table and it was bit uncomfortable so we tried to finish dining asap as we had little cake before leaving for one of our friends birthday. Maybe we sat 10 minutes longer than the time our table was booked for. Over all we enjoyed the dinner.

We had a great evening at this restaurant. The chicken roulade and the Eye Filet were succulent. Thanks again to our server Esteban who was patient with us throughout the evening. We will come back!

If you love sand crab lasagna this is your place. Although, their menu has plenty of other choices I couldnt resist ordering my favourite dish. This did not disappoint, it was absolutely amazing. Reminded me of the one at Il Centro back to when they were open. I have been looking for one ever since and this is the fisrt time some rises to the challenge. So happy to have found this place. The restaurant staff were also very nice and even thought there was a slight delay in the kitchen they kept us informed.

We didnthave a booking but got popped at the bar ledge, we missed out on the lamb but were pleasantly surprised with the chicken. The bar service was exceptional. Looking forward to booking a table and revisiting

I have been several times now and have tried a wide range of their offerings- it s my go to place for special occasions or a quick Burrata for lunch

Have waited since ZaZu opened to taste Crab Lasagne. It did not disappoint!

Really wanted to love this place however unfortunately was a big let down. Literally lining up to get seated for at least 15 minutes because the host was doubling as wait staff. The tables were also not set and before people were sat, guests in front were waiting for the staff to set and clean the tables. And it was 1.00pm so it wasnt like people were finishing up their first sitting. When we were sat no water, no menus. We had to chase someone up to provide menus and water. There was no explanation of the menu, no suggestions, no asking of any dietary requirements. We then had to move tables before our orders were taken because the table was so rocky it was impossible to sit at. We ordered food and after being sat at 1.15pm no food came out till 1.45pm. We ordered a bunch of share items, mains, and fresh oysters. After half an hour not even 6 oysters came out. We had to follow up on them as the hot food came out first. The response was yes they are coming. This was now 50 minutes into the lunch. Throughout the day we constantly had to follow staff up for drinks, water etc. Then we thought the actual food was underwhelming. Presentation was great however it was unfortunately not as exciting as it sounded on paper.

The experience at Zazu was impeccable from the moment we entered the restaurant - the staff were warm, welcoming and attentive and ensured our every needs were met as customers. Our food was phenomenal with the pork belly main being the star of our dinning experience. Every effort has been made to provide a comfortable, intimate and special environment for patrons to enjoy, from the bar staff and waiters to the front of house hosts. We left with a feeling of appreciation and gratitude for such a wonderful dining experience like we haven t really had before - the only concern we had was deciding when we would be returning. Highly recommend.

I don t even have words to describe how delicious the combination of flavours were during our dinner here last night Had the duck roll ups, prawn dumplings & pork belly and every mouthful was incredible. My only constructive feedback is that the chilli sauce on the duck roll ups was so so spicy and would be more enjoyable if made a bit milder in spiciness. Otherwise, one of the greatest dining experiences I ve had in a really long time & is certainly my new favourite for Brisbane. Ambience and vibe is great, bar and drink selection was fantastic and the menu is one of the most impressive I ve seen! Great staff service and engagement and the value is unbelievable. Very keen to be back many more times! So good in every aspect.

Delicious food. I can particularly recommend the pork skewers. Excellent coffee. The coffee came with some handmade chocolates that are just to die for. I will make a point to return here until they close down or I die of old age.

We had lunch at Zazu for our anniversary last Tuesday and we were very pleased with the food. We ordered the chicken stir fry and minute steak from the lunch specials menu and my goodness, they were full of flavour, a decent portion size and great value for money at $19.90! The waitress was very attentive, topping up our water and offered us some sparkling to celebrate. The food came out a little slower than expected considering it wasnt busy however it was a great experience and we will be back for those lunch specials!

We went here for an early dinner on a Saturday night. The food was good, the crab lasagna is their signature dish and it lives up to the hype. The sauce that comes with it, is delicious. The beef skewers and chicken baos were tasty. The pork gyozas were alright. The Vietnamese oysters were delicious. Service, unfortunately wasn t as exceptional. We had a dish that was forgotten and ended up cancelling as they hadn t even started cooking it, after we had finished all our food. The restaurant is a bit tight inside and we did have a pram (which we disclosed in our booking), but we would probably recommend sitting outside next time, for space. There is quite an extension cocktails and drink list and that alone, might be worth visiting as they were delicious. Parking wise, you can park at West Village for 2 hours for free.

A great restaurant for a special occasion, friendly staff, good food

Really impressed by the food and service at Zazu. Waitress was attentive and came to check if we were enjoying our meal. Food came out quickly and in an orderly fashion. The portions of the mains was enough for each person and nice for sharing. We ordered 3 sides, 2 mains and a starter and it was more than enough food for 2 people. I didn t think the sides would be a reasonable size. The lamb was the real winner tonight but in saying that the salmon was also cooked really well. Overall a wonderful experience and worth coming back to. Probably on the pricey side $130 for 2 people but better value than other restaurants in the near by area.

Amazing staff from the moment of booking to the finish, excellent service from attentive staff. Food was absolutely delicious and very generous servings. Great atmosphere and a extensive drinks menu.

I came here for lunch today and was pretty disappointed with the service. It took 30-40mins for our food to come (we only ordered smaller menu items) whilst not being very busy. When we received 2 of the items it became apparent that the pork gyoza was sitting for awhile before coming out as they were cold inside and out. We then proceeded to get the wrong item and was told the correct item was 3mins off and got it 10mins later. The rest of the food was yummy but the service did not make it worth the price. It seemed only 2 people were working and many people didn t appear happy. It would ve been nice if the wait time was communicated to us before sitting.

Wife and I are back for the second time. Good value lunch menu and the food is delicious. Staff are prompt polite and attentive. Only negative points I would nit pick is they dont have chop sticks and ordering food with extra chilli doesnt give the kick I was expecting.

Wow. One of the most flavoursome meals we ve had out, and the vibe is lovely here. Came in for the lunch special ($19.90 - huge portion!!) and it was incredible. I went for the chicken stir fry (the crispy rice was something I never knew I needed in my life) and my mum went for the beef noodles. They also had a cocktail special ($12 each which is a steal!) so we ordered the margaritas and they were delicious! Staff were very welcoming and attentive. 10/10 - the rating speaks for itself.

We celebrated a birthday dinner here. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth and hospitality. The ambiance was inviting, with tasteful décor and a relaxed atmosphere. The menu offered a fantastic variety, catering to different tastes and dietary preferences. Each dish was a masterpiece, bursting with flavor and expertly prepared. Not only was the food exceptional, but the service was also amazing. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable, providing recommendations and ensuring that our dining experience was nothing short of perfect.

The food was good, I enjoyed the skewers, Japanese rice, and pork belly in particular. However, this was let down by the service. Following up multiple times to get water to no avail, finally to get water and not have it refilled once. Servers standing around as you try to get their attention. Difficult to get their attention to pay the bill which they forgot once as well.

Poor service - had to ask for water thrice before we got served which didn t get refilled once during the meal, and then had to ask for the bill twice

Wonderful decor welcomes you as you enter the restaurant. If only the staff were as wonderful. The prawn cone spring rolls are not to be missed, served with a generous salad. Unfortunately the Thai beef salad was drowned in dressing. Id ask for it on the side next time. Pickled ginger is a tasty addition to the salad. There is an extensive wine list. Parking: Parking is free up to three hours.

An ideal dining spot where Service, flavours, ambiance and good vibes meet in one place. Highly recommended.
