With open arms, welcome to our home at 31 Charkay, where the air is filled with an abundance of love, delicious food spreads across the table and an endless amount of great wine is shared. 31 Charkay is a shared plate family style restaurant set on the vineyard views in the beautiful Okanagan Valley region. With an emphasis on locally sourced fresh ingredients, we have created a Contemporary Canadian menu that is inspired by the diversity of cultures and flavours across Canada.
Beautiful cozy ambiance, scallops were fresh and tasty, Steak forage was phenomenal could get more mushrooms to justify the name of the dish, potato pavee paired so well with the dish and the blue cheese topping was a game changer. Panna cotta was sadly disappointing (did let the server know), Presentation of the dishes were really good. Service was good and personalised. Good experience!
Just came back from the best dinner at 31 Charkay!! The food was incredible, and they surprised us with complimentary appetizers and dessert. We loved our server Estefan, and the chef who kept giving playful looks through the window 😂. Would highly recommend for a nice night out. Go on a Friday, after the happy hour next door at Grizzly Winery where they have live music from 5-7pm. Thank you guys for the amazing dining experience!
Very good experience. Well seasoned food and good portions. The mushroom fries were so good and the steak was cooked perfectly. Our server was very knowledgeable about the food and ingredients. Some of which they grow themselves. Super cute decor as well. Definitely will go back.
Had lunch on the patio today. Was lovely to find a restaurant that’s dog friendly in west kelowna. The food, service and atmosphere are all 10/10. Will be back for steak dinner soon.
Graham was a wonderful attentive server! The restaurant was testing out a new menu and were so positively receptive of our feedback. Because our scallop and fish dish were under seasoned, they offered another meal complimentary. I ended up getting the seafood pasta dish and my husband the filet which had great flavor. We appreciate the attention to detail and ensuring our experience was the best it could be. Thank you graham for your incredible service!
I had high expectations for this restaurant after seeing it featured by food bloggers on Instagram, but my experience was unfortunately underwhelming. The “host” who you would expect to be friendly and welcoming, came across as rather standoffish. The ambience was pleasant and quiet, ideal for conversation, and the decor was well done. The service was slow. It took a while for our server to greet us, and by the time our food arrived, every dish was lukewarm to cold. The duck confit wontons were lacking in flavor, the sauce was too watery, and the pink pasta was bland. Portion sizes were generous and the pricing reasonable. Our server she was very sweet and friendly. The matcha crème brûlée was decent, but the host cleared it away rudely, assuming we were done. Hesistant to return.. it’s a shame because the restaurant itself was beautiful
Came for lunch. Service was excellent, especially for families with kids. Decor is very nice. Food was good. Helena's pasta tasted great, good flavors and was a standout dish. Salmon was pretty typical. Wine was good. Overall a good place to visit. Food could be elevated a bit plating wise, to match the high end ambience.
My wife and I stopped in for a late lunch/early dinner. First of all, the dining/reception area is very spacious and well-appointed, with large windows and comfortable sitting areas. Due to the timing, we were the only table, so we had our pick of where to sit. We had the scallops for an appetizer, and the salmon for the main. Both were amazing - done to perfection! Then we had the cobbler for dessert, which was also delicious. Our server (sorry, didn't get his name) was exceptionally cordial, informative and efficient. We really enjoyed talking to him. I highly recommend this restaurant, and we will definitely be back to try other items on the menu.
Nice dining environment, special food, great choice for friends gathering
Server was trying hard but seemingly inexperienced for a fine dining restaurant. She didn t seem proud of the food she was serving us and I don t blame her. Food was served lukewarm, although nicely presented. The steak was a nice cut but the gravy was cold and only warmed the frozen blue cheese to the point where it was edible with the steak. The fish was slightly overcooked and the puree was bland. My plate looked as though someone had their fingers in it. Dessert was pre-made and our matcha creme brûlée was cold. Overall a very underwhelming experience, I wouldn t recommend at this point. Not sure if it s growing pains or what. Also the wine selection suuuuuuucks. Do not order the grizzli wine, it s over produced and sweet. The staff were honest and nice, they did the best with what they had. Pros: ample parking, able to accommodate celiac disease with knowledgeable servers. Parking: Loads of parking
I cant say enough about the amazing evening we had last night. Our host and server, Graham, was so kind to our toddler. He was patient, friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable. There honestly arent enough nouns/adjectives to describe our food experience. And yes, the food was awesome!!!! Thank you 31 Charkay and Graham for the wonderful evening. Xo
Spectacular experience! Food, wine selection, service and ambience were all excellent. And lots of celiac/gf options! Dietary restrictions: Lots of gluten free and vegetarian options!!!
Although we were hesitant due to the reviews, I enjoyed the food, music and service well beyond expectation. I will come here again Dietary restrictions: Gluten freindly went very well
Wanted to support local but this place is just bad. Appies were mediocre. Ordered a steak frite meal, steak was thin overcooked and tasteless. Fries were soggy and tasted like rancid oil. Could not eat any of it. Waiter was very kind and tried to bring other items to try but our group of 8 were just disappointed. At these prices this place needs to be better. Decent wine list and the waiter tried his best but they need a real chef in there and higher quality ingredients. Sorry . 31 Charkay but it s a pass from me.
This place has potential for sure. I would definitely come back but only for happy hour. Happy hour menu, small plates amazing. Mains at best average. Only gave it 4 stars for the small plates. Our mains didnt do much for us considering our bill was about 3 bills.
I recently hosted a fifteen person dinner at 31 Charkay. With the help of Amber, the organization of the seating, menus and selections was a breeze. Upon entering day of, the host was attentive, very friendly and ensured we were happy with the set up. 31 Charkay designed special table menus and name cards for us. It was a special touch that we appreciated. A bread service was included as a kind gesture, demonstrating to all attendees that 31 Charkay will go above and beyond to taking care of you. Within the two course menu, our guests thoroughly enjoyed a Carrot Bisque and Seasonal Salad. The mains were fantastic, showcasing quite a few dishes 31 Charkay has to offer including their beef dish, sesame chicken dish, salmon dish and pasta dish. Guests agreed that their meals were a hit. The wine list is well thought out and curated to please even the fussiest guest. We found the wine service prompt and seamless. 31 Charkay also kindly offered a coffee/espresso service before the end of our dinner. We found this to be a special touch and it was appreciated. All in all, it was a fantastic experience and we would not hesitate to come back. The restaurant is incredibly gorgeous, the service was top notch and the food/wine is a complete asset to the Westside Wine Trail. If you re looking for an upscale experience, a no details missed designed restaurant and incredible hospitality - you ve found it with 31 Charkay. A special thanks to our attentive host, the kind wait staff, the very talented kitchen staff and the lovely events organizer.
I really hate giving bad reviews so this is hard for me but I just feel it has to be done. My husband and I dont go out to eat often as financially its a big splurge for us. We got dressed up and headed to 31 Charkay with high hopes of a lovely evening with great food and wine. Sadly the wine was horrible. I was so confused as this is located on the winery property. We enjoy almost ALL Okanagan wines but we tried 3 different ones and they were not even palatable. It almost tasted like home brew if that makes sense? I thought maybe they sat out open for a long time. The food was tasty but for the price defiantly not worth the cost. I have to say the server she was lovely and she was training a girl who was also lovely. They truly did a good job. Food was ok....wine was terrible...the restaurant itself is beautiful ...service was good:) We both just felt really disappointed. 180.00 and for ok food and I couldnt even have a glass of wine with our meal. Likely will never go back which saddens me because I think it has a lot of potential.
We had a wonderful evening there to celebrate a birthday . Everything was excellent and we will return. Service was a 10/10. Food
I had an amazing experience! The front of the house treated us very professionally and nicely. The food was perfect
Stop in for lunch, the service was great (Thanks Shelby!) the food was excellent as was the setting. I would definitely recommend dining at 31 Charley! Parking: Lots of room
Ordering a medium-rare steak turns into very rare beef jerky, which can only be chewed and swallowed
We were an out of town group of 4 visiting for the first time; we had late dinner. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at this well appointed restaurant. High ceiling, glass windows and a welcoming space. Mary was our server and she is a gem. Consistently checking in throughout the meal service, friendly and efficient. We had salad, duck taco, steak, thai curry chicken, red wine, lychee martini - and my favorite was dessert, matcha creme brulee. I absolutely loved the creme brulee, it was amazingly delicious . High points: Mary; ambiance. We will be in town until Sunday and plan to grab the Sunday Brunch at Charkay. We are looking forward to the revisit.
Graham was amazing!! His service was top notch, the food was delightful and the wine topped it off! 10/10 would recommend :)
Had an incredible evening and our server Graham was exceptionally great! I would recommend this place to any one and even request Graham to serve you if you want the best experience!
31 Charkay is such a great addition to the Grizzli winery! From the people who run it, to the ambiance of the space, and the amazing wine they offer its a must visit spot.
We had a lovely experience when we had lunch yesterday. The atmosphere, food and service were outstanding. I had the Red Thai Curry with Tofu. Delicious!!
Great food, great wine (and beer), and even better service! Our server Graham was amazing and took great care of our party!
Four of us went for dinner. I will list the Pros and Cons (more pros). Pros: Service - was attentive and friendly. Our server was lovely. Atmosphere - location and overall vibe is fantastic. Food - everything was presented beautifully and flavours were good. 2 of us had salmon and they were overcooked. Rather than waste food, we ate them but did mention it to the server. The other dishes were good. Overall, a pleasant experience and I would give it another go.
I recently dined at what was supposed to be an upscale establishment, drawn in by the enticing menu descriptions and sophisticated ambiance. Unfortunately, the experience fell flat due to one major flaw: the food was shockingly bland and underseasoned, leaving us disappointed given the potential of the dishes we ordered. We shared a Filet Tenderloin Steak, an 8oz tenderloin served with smashed baby potatoes, grilled vegetables, and a port wine demi-glaze. While the steak was cooked to the correct temperature, it was disappointingly flavorless. The meat lacked the depth that a well-seasoned cut should have, and even the port wine demi-glaze, which should have been rich and robust, failed to elevate the dish. We also ordered Helen s Pink Pasta, a beet-infused spaghetti that looked vibrant but tasted disappointingly flat. The dish featured prawns, scallops, and salmon in a creamy white wine and dill reduction, but only the scallops had any real flavor. The sauce was bland and lacked the expected punch of dill or richness from the wine. In summary, while the menu reads like a gourmet experience, the execution was far from it. The lack of seasoning was a common thread across both dishes, making what should have been a memorable meal a forgettable one. It s a shame because with proper seasoning and attention to flavor, these dishes could have been exceptional. Instead, they left us wanting more more salt, more spice, more flavor. I want to edit to add in response to the restaurant having mentioned a quality check was done, we had actually tried to flag down staff for salt and pepper right away and struggled to get anyones attention. After waiting for some time, I had to get up from my table walk half way across the restaurant to ask the waiter directly for it as its not kept at the tables and at which point I mentioned that the food was very bland. No offer to remake the dish was made, and it felt awkward to push for it. We seasoned our food and left disappointed in everything but the wine.
Such a shame, terrible experience at 31 charkay. We had such high hopes.. we were the first ones there for dinner at 5.30pm. starters took 30 minutes which were not hot. The restaurant then filled up as we watched every other table have their mains before us. An hour passed and still no mains.. servers didnt come up to us once to apologise. we ended up deciding to leave before our mains.. even when we paid for our starters we didnt get an apology... I understand its a new restaurant but a bit of awareness and customer service wouldnt go a miss here... Will not be returning
Keep working out the kinks, you guys will do great!
horrible service and overpriced for food that was overcooked
Love the food and atmosphere. The service was amazing and top notch. We ordered some bannocks, soup of the day, sesame chicken, Kabocha Ravoli and few more as we went as a group. The desserts Red & White paired with Grizzli Winery and Matcha Crème Brûlée is to die for. A must try restaurant and winery in West Kelowna.
This is West Kelowna s new hidden gem! Take my word and just try it. Amazing staff, atmosphere and ooooh the FOOD!!! Vegetarian options: Great selection of veg options Dietary restrictions: Tons of dietary options Wheelchair accessibility: Main level entrance, no stairs and washrooms accessible
Had an amazing experience. Graham our server went above and beyond to make our evening so enjoyable and the attention to detail went above and beyond anything I had experienced all weekend in Kelowna. Additionally Estefan was so kind and helpful and the overall service from both really added to our dine in experience.
Graham and Estefan were amazing. They really added to our experience dining here. Amazing food and service from start to finish
Great place to go. We had a bad experience at one of the wineries previously. Graham and Estefan couldnt do enough to help improve our night. We had did a wine tasting earlier on on the day with a young guy, brown hair. Not sure of his name. But he did great too. Cannot recommend grizzlies enough.
EDIT: Just visited and wow they ve really stepped it up in every way !!! Food was delicious, steak cooked perfectly, really nice side dishes. We also tried an appetizer this time and can t recommend the scallops enough !!! Really wonderful experience overall, great experience. MASSIVE night and day improvement from last time !!! Love Grizzli, the restaurant obviously still has some kinks to be worked out Also the food just came out and I m pretty disappointed. I ve never in my life been served a steak, with a side of potato chips that taste like they just came out of a vending machine Again, we LOVE Grizzli, and wanted to love this place, but the whole experience so far is disappointing to say the least. Like again, they re not even GOOD potato chips they taste like they came from a 7-11. Holy Lordy and was the steak ever OVERDONE !!!!! I ordered medium rare, closer to the rare side, and received WELL DONE. Again, this place obviously has some major issues to work out in its freshman run
We had an amazing experience at 31 Charkay! Food was delicious! Generous portions. Compliments to the kitchen! We enjoyed the dog friendly patio which is beautiful overlooking the vineyard. The restaurant itself is elegant and sophisticated but very welcoming! Our server Estefan was AMAZING! Very welcoming, friendly, knowledgeable about the menu and made excellent recommendations. His enthusiasm for 31 was contagious and elevated our dinning experience. Highly recommend 31 Charkay! We will return as the cocktails are fabulous with an extensive wine menu too. Try the Daily Greens! The matcha crème brûlée was fabulous too! We could go on and on. Enjoy!
Fantastic food, fabulous service, beautiful atmosphere inside with a great dog friendly patio outside. You will be well taken care of as service was top notch, our server was Estephen, very knowledgeable! Compliments to the kitchen and cocktails are elevated. Vegetarian options: Red Curry Bowl is delicious with tofu, veggies and rice. Great portion size.
Love love loved our experience here! Been here twice now and Chef Tye always impresses us. We keep coming back so we can try everything on the menu. 1000% recommend!
Beautiful restaurant inside and out! Food was fabulous and our server was so pleasant and knowledgeable. We Will definitely return.
Beautiful place, Graham was very awesome and pleasant to be around! We ordered the Pear n Beets Salad for the starter. It was very light and gentle savory. For the main, we tried the beef tenderlion with garlic potatoes (POTATO WAS SO NICE) and chimichurri NY steaks with vege. All very nicely balanced flavor. We loved the Matcha creme brulee. We did try the blueberry wine and it was amazing and sweet
Great food. Loved the atmosphere - well designed, good views, great seating options & dog friendly. Happy hour has amazing snacks!
Went for lunch.. Ok. so the place looks amazing with great vineyard view... BUT... the service far surpasses the views. Our server explained all the staff favs then expertly answered our questions on other menu items... THEN... OMG THE FOOD!! The warm bread with olive oil and balsamic is a definite show stopper. If you are a fan of duck, I cannot rave on the duck wontons enough! For the entre we shared the chicken bowl with an added lobster tail... I did NOT want to stop eating ANY part of this! The portions were awesome, flavor was AMAZING, and service is WAY above and beyond. We will be back for sure. We have to eat our way around the menu now!! <3
Mary was our server and was attentive to ensure we were thoroughly satisfied. We had bannock for an appetizer. Our table enjoyed steak, curry, salmon and ravioli. All delicious!!! The food, dessert and cocktails were excellent. We enjoyed the live music and atmosphere. Will return the next time we are in W Kelowna.
Amazing food and great service
Great restaurant, great service, extremely tasty food and nice atmosphere, just perfect, we had 3 courses
Wonderful ambiance and meal.
Quiet and enjoyable Excellent food and service Will come again Food : 5/5
Beautiful views and location, delicious food, and great service! Highly recommend the Sunday brunch!
Excellent eggs benny and latte. Great afternoon brunch!.
Came here with my family and had such a great experience! Food was incredible (pink pasta and lemon bar was awesome), service was attentive, and the view from the patio is breathtaking. Highly recommend !
We were really looking forward to eating at a new restaurant in West Kelowna which would only be an 8 minute drive for us. The restaurant is lovely with lots of windows and pretty view. That s where it stopped. The hostess greeted us nicely and let us sit where we wanted to. But he kept the red washing bucket on the bar chair the whole time. That s so tacky. No water was poured until half way through our meal. The red wine was warm, not cellar temp even though he put it in a chiller which did not chill the wine through our whole time there. We ordered a large salad to share but it was not separated onto two plates like fine dining restaurants usually do. My salmon came with unslighly slimy translucent onions on top which I scrapped off. The salmon was way overcooked and not tender at all. The tiny asparagus were crispy and greenish brown. My husband ordered his steak medium rare and it came to him medium well The rhubarb desert was yummy with ice cream on the top. It was baked in a casserole dish and the chef put a dollop of whipped cream ON THE SIDE plate so that the hot casserole dish melted it all before we were able to have a bit of it. Unfortunately we won t be back as the quality of the meal really doesn t warrant a $200 tab. Please guys get this sorted because the West Side could really use another good restaurant.
Great food and amazing service. Beautiful views to top it off
Had a wonderful anniversary dinner here on the patio Loved the dog friendly patio and excellent vegan options. Great portions, food, and drinks. Vegetarian options: Multiple great vegan options. Dietary restrictions: Excellent vegan options, more than one option in both small and large menu items at the time of me writing this. They were knowledgable on menu items and took care around an almond allergy. Wheelchair accessibility: No issues at all (small manual wheelchair user)
This is probably the best restaurant Ive ever eaten at in the Okanagan. The food looks simple but delicious. The cocktails are also very good, especially their Belgian beers. Thanks Jaclyn for your service. Forgot to take photos, will come next time.
I guess it was not there best night! Food was mediocre my steak was overdone ,,. Ate it cause I was hungry wines are nit that great ..:
Friendly staff and awesome food
This review is all based on food timing. The servers were very kind and apologetic. Didnt get our food for 2 hours and got the main course before our appies. At one point they brought us someone elses food. Food was mediocre at best. Hands down the worst restaurant we have ever had anywhere!!
Great food, amazing service, nice atmosphere. Will be back
Very beautiful restaurant, went out for my Birthday and was treated to the Mediterranean bannock, as well as raspberry, mango, and chocolate sorbet. The Mediterranean bannock was a one of a kind dish, and very tasty. All three of the sorbets were smooth and rich of flavour. Service was a 10/10 with our server Nicole, who accommodated us perfectly. Would recommend checking out this beautiful up and coming restaurant in WestKelowna!
We visited a couple wineries in the area but chose the Grizzli Winery with its 31 Charkay restaurant on a hunch. What a great choice! Very nice atmosphere and amazing food. Estefan was very welcoming and provided lots of information and recommendations for the area. Great service, fantastic meals, delicious wine and nice surroundings. We would come again!
Came into 31 Charkay the other day and had an AWESOME experience, great service, great food, and a beautiful restaurant. Ordered the Pear and Beet Salad as my appetizer and for the entree was the Filet Tenderloin. Both plates were very tasty and full of flavour! Highly recommend visiting this restaurant off of Boucherie Road!!!
Absolutely incredible! The food was amazing, the view is incredible, and the staff are all so friendly and fun! We drove out from vernon and it was absolutely worth it!
Everything was delicious. The bannock and matcha crème brûlée are a MUST. Also loved the pastas. Great service, great view, and vibes!
Excellent food, excellent ambience and service , the views from the tables are stunning. The drinks are fun and inventive
