2427 Marine Dr, West Vancouver, BC V7V 1L3, Canada
Familiar British meals, draft brews & cocktails round out the menu at this homey bar with a patio.
Enjoyed a beautiful evening on the outdoor patio of the Red Lion while visiting West Vancouver. The service, drinks, and food were all fantastic! The calamari and mussels were incredible!
Cozy, classic & charming atmosphere! We were sat by the stone fireplace and big window, and there was a piano player which added to the already lovely ambience! We shared some delicious smoked sausages for appys and then enjoyed some beer battered fish and chips. Quite tasty and satisfied our cravings. I found the Dark and Stormy was done well. The Irish lads with us loved the Guinness, so big ups to this place!
The afternoon was swelteringly Summer-heat-wave hot after nearby appointment, but inside the Red Lion Pub, in the very heart of historic Dundarave, cool air-conditioned respite, many savory menu choices, and welcoming servers awaited to make a really great experience! Opted for the "Red Lion Burger" platter. Beef was tasty and nicely seasoned, accompanied by bacon, cheddar, and romaine lettuce. The side fries -- perfectly crispy outside and tender fresh inside. The restaurant interior definitely takes equal billing with the terrific cuisine: classic British pub atmosphere and fascinatingly divided into several cozy semi-private alcoves, dining/entertainment areas: i.e., self-contained dining room with focal stone fireplace and facing conversation area; sports-bar zone at rear on 2-levels with upholstered booths /bar stools / table-seating -- plus 2 large screens for watching hockey/football matches -- all dominated by the backdrop of dark carved-wood bar; and finally the signature Red Lion patio space fronting Marine Drive with its forest of red umbrellas. If you're interested in Dundarave - West Van history and cool memorabilia, the interior vibe is truly like a "way-back machine" and all the artefacts will give you almost as much enjoyment as the brilliant menu and friendly people.
Wonderful spot on Marine Drive for a bite to eat! The fish & chips were yummy, just a bit too much batter for my loving! Drinks were tasty, plus the service and outdoor seating atmosphere were perfect!
My server was a very sweet lad. Looking around, he was even wiping down the handheld debit machine between customers. Didnt throw a fit when I asked for half soda half coke. I opted for a Ceasar Salad with grilled salmon. Salmon was cooked to perfection, and salad had a great balance of dressing, croutons, and cheese.
We dropped in after spotting the outdoor patio, and as luck would have it happy hour is from 3 till 6 so we took advantage having shrimp gyoza and tempura shrimp. And a couple of sangria..the menu coveted most pub meals and a full bar...bon Appétit
Stopped here near Dundarave to have a quick bite to eat .. was so glad there was indoor eating as it was hot outside 🔥🥵 travelling from Niagara Falls and I thought we had it hot there 🙄 I had one of the best cheese burgers I've ever tasted. Apparently it is from Blue Goose Certified Organic Beef . You could tell the difference ! The tasty fries complimented this dish . Enjoyed my dinner here and the atmosphere was nice as well as having AC. They also have a great happy hour 3pm till 6pm ..too bad I don't drink 🍻 Thanks Michca for great service . I'd definitely recommend this place here for a bite to eat. 👌
After a long day flying we found the Red Lion on our way through town and enjoyed a nice meal and relaxing break. The pub/happy hour menu was broad so all in our group found a favorite. A nice assortment of craft beers and cocktails made everyone happy. The fireplace was lit and the glow against the dark stained woodwork made for a cozy spot.
Everything is always good in this place
Great atmosphere! Very cool place
The restaurant are cozy and the food is good and the employees ( especially that woman take orders) are very nice and friendly.
Most expensive place to drink in West Vancouver! The male server completely ignored our group and had to constantly flagged down to order or use a waitress to call him over.
Delicious!!!!! Everyone should eat here. Love the caesar salad and this nacho I got that looks like a chicken. They also have a lovely clubhouse:-)
A great neighbourhood gem
Don t come here for the food. Worst pub food I have had in years.
Better be amazing calamari over 20 bucks yikes but that s where all the ritch and not so famous hang out so Money don t matter
Had a very weird experience. Place was not busy but it took us 5-8 min to get a table. Then waited another 15 min before we were given a menu. The waiter was extremely not interested in having us.
Terrible male waiter.
Went on fathers day. Service was slow and food overcooked. Maybe a bad day....
Red lion is a few blocks away in Dundarave West Vancouver . Solid food and good times are best authentic English pub in Vancouver.
Very nice staff let me use the wifi to order a uber. As the service is poor around the area. Thanks
Loved the patio this time. Friendly staff. Great food and location. Loved the nachos.
This time I visited around 8pm on a Wednesday night. Ordered two pastas, two burgers and a salad. It took over half an hour for the food to be served, but it all arrived in one go. Spaghetti Peppino is delicious, but the noodles are a bit wet and chewy. The red lion burger was supposed to be a special selection just like the name of the store, but in fact it was just an ordinary burger. The beef was a bit burnt and it was dry without sauce.
First time Cutie little pub Our server was a very nice young man Enjoyed my gluten free club house The bread was delicious Asked our server where the bread was from so appreciated that My husband said his clam chowder was delicious & a good serving Thank u
It was such a pleasant surprise to be able to eat outside, with our dog on the bench beside the table, and on the side of a main street. The food was served hot and timely, and the server was friendly without hovering.
We had a delicious meal. It s almost like home cooking there. The atmosphere is fun. They had a piano man who was very good. We ll go again for sure.
Great place. Be prepared to wait for service if youre not a local.
Food
A short walk off the beach was convenient and the street is a nice spot to sit and watch the world pass by.. Should have joined them and passed this place by too. Had the driest Caesar salad I have ever had. Lettuce, 5 croutons and a drip of dressing. The other salads at the table were equally as dry and uninspiring. Better meals to be had nearby.
Food was great, Nachos were loaded to the Max. Nice dog friendly patio.
Everything was excellent, food and service in a lovely place, enjoy the piano music and the ambiance.
Average food quality with exceptions of brilliance. Shrimp sandwich is however consistently good. Lovely staff. Thankful for this place as sunny patio is the best.
This place is awesome, food is great and the staff go above and beyond
Really cool place in Vancouver. The food was great and the staff was very friendly. Also when I stepped inside I felt like I was in some kind of authentic English pub. Very cool
We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend lunch with friends at Red Lion Bar and Grill. The food was excellent; two of us tried the burgers, while I opted for the steak and kidney pie, which was delightful. My other friend tried the honey garlic pork stir fry, which she believes wasn t enough for a main course :). The atmosphere was fantastic, and the staff were professional and attentive. We look forward to returning in the future.
This has become our weekly dinner out spot. I love the steak and prawns but everything weve tried has been amazing. Cozy seating, fun piano guy and the servers are the best. Highly recommend.
This is the first time I have been in an authentic british pub. It was nice to see older ones sitting and chatting while enjoying a pint. Our food was really good. We shared a table with a friend and the conversation was excellent.
This place definitely has a story. Very nice vibe and chill people. Good food too.
Food was good and service was great!
Great little pub with a nice atmosphere, great food and great service.
A bar for older people, pleasantly good food, fair drinks, a place to chat. A bar for older people, nice good food, fair drinks, a place to chat.
Unfortunately we were not able to be seated because of the outrageous rudeness of the manager who berated us for requesting to be seated away from others indoors as there was no service outside. After a flippant rude response to our request he turned on his heel shaking his head saying I can t believe you said that! leaving the waiter looking like a deer in headlights so we were instantly out of there! Take heed, there are still some customers who are immune compromised wanting to enjoy an afternoon lunch on NYE day before places fill up making it more risky for them to enjoy a nice pub meal for their celebration. Thanks for ruining our afternoon. Rudeness gets you a whole lot of nothing! Your loss of reputation for plain human decency!
Best pub in all of Vancouver with the best clam chowder and steak and kidney pie in the city
Excellent to find a pub with bitter on tap
Great local place...... little pricey...but I guess that goes with the neighborhood
Wheelchair accessibility: Stairs to door Food
Friendly and delicious. Went during lunch and got to meet the owner. Definitely a go to place.
Great friendly service, casual pub style, Will go back for sure
. Huge wait times and when food came was not that good. Service wasn t that good either. It s a good location tho. Not a great restaurant
Unbeatable yam fries. And I love vegetarian portobello mushroom burger
Great little pub. Well stocked, great appies and pub fare meals ( bangers and Mash... Yum)
As British a pub as Canadian regulations can make it! Warm, publy atmosphere in a prime location!
Just perfect !!!
Nice warm atmosphere
Great service
This place is actually really good and I think it should have a higher rating! Staff is great, food is awesome (I would challenge you to find a better clam chowder) and portion sizes are great! Awesome atmosphere with live music, how can it get any better?!?
It is about $20 a plate and good to share if that seems high to you. There is usually an economic choice as well.
Very delicious, good atmosphere
Cozy n warm
Super good!
The patio is open till late.
Cool English Pub Style, relaxing patio vibe in Summer.
Great place for happy hour. 3-6 pm
Love the decor
Went for Fathers Day lunch with my husband. We were seated right away. I had the Shrimp Papya Salad. My husband had the Fish n Chips. The food is delicious & the pub is exactly how a pub should look.
We had the greatest Father s Day dinner and the Atmosphere was 5
Great neighbourhood pub serving happy hour pints and appetizers. Or pop in for yummy fish and chips or some of the other delicious entrees. Friendly staff always make you feel welcome!
A good address, including good food.
Nice food nice viee
Beautiful food, great atmosphere. Would definitely recommend
Enjoyed great burgers, fish and chips, and beer on the patio in Dundarave. The salad serving was a little small, but the food was delicious, and the service was friendly. I will definitely go back to try the chicken pot pie!
Beat in Dundrave. Fries, wings and clams
At Red Lion with wonderful friends, so the meal could have been lousy... luckily it wasnt... it was great. I typical neighbour hood pub.
Trendy British style pub and restaurant, located close to Dundarave. We enjoyed our seating on the patio. Menu was excellent with a lot of English inspired pub fares. I recommend the fish and chips, or beef roast dinner on Sundays. Service was excellent - staff are attentive and friendly. Will repeat again!
While staying in West VC, every time I shopped at IGA, I thought it was a nice store. The beer I had on the terrace facing the bus route was delicious! There is also a wide variety of food menus. The Caesar salad is plentiful and enough for 4 people. The Chinese-style seasoned pork was surprisingly delicious, as was the fried rice that came with it. The beef in the hamburger is juicy and the portion is huge. The standard fuchsia & chips are also extra large. My sons friends and I had a fun and cheerful night at West VC. It was a nice shop with a happy atmosphere and the staff.
Good spot for a pint, great British pub atmosphere. Disappointing (almost soggy) fish and chips, but incredible chowder. Definitely recommended.
Good place to sit and watch the world go by on the deck with a cold beers
nice place - good service, food & prices.
Great old English pub fare. Great tap selection and super good service.
Friendly spot, and a decent pint of Guinness.
This place was lovely. The food was okay. But the drinks were good.
Excellent, fast and careful service. Very good food. I highly recommend. A relaxing and warm interior setting.
I love this pub! The calamari this time had to much batter. My hamburger patty seemed like it was a frozen patty. The bun and topping were lovely. My husband loved his Vermouth Scallops. The atmosphere is amazing if you love an authentic pub experience.
Jordan gave amazing service, 10/10 get the Sunday roast
Authentic interior.. poor service.. food isn t that great .. prices updated though .. wish for a better service .. a bit low class, nonetheless snobby
Very poor service
Loved this place. Cozy pub with a nice atmosphere and fireplace. Food was great and friendly staff. Awesome after a nice little hike, a perfect day!
Great food , good wine , good service , great atmosphere
Dont go here if you expect good service. The experience started off nicely... Our server was attentive and had good suggestions. Then our food came, my partners Curry chicken rice bowl was delicious, however my spaghetti dish was under salted, but nice tasting otherwise. We ran out of all beverages and we were ignored for almost 25 minutes. I was unable to eat my slightly spicy food without my drink to calm the spice down. No one paid us any attention for this time. My food went cold. The busser finally noticed and came over. She was very accommodating in getting my food reheated. However she did not tell our server that what we wanted for the next round of drinks. My warm food came... But no drinks. 15 minutes later, our server finally paid attention to us instead of his friends and brought over our drinks. By this time, the damage was done, we were both very unhappy. It took almost 90 minutes from the time we ordered to the time we left. Also, on top of all of this, we had the company of a little mouse constantly zooming around our area. It was definitely around more than our server was.
The night started off fine, we were seated, placed our orders, and then everything went downhill from there. We got our drinks, which were fine, Guinness and a good recommendation on wine. Dinner took a while to get to our table, but eh, ok, nothing seemed amiss. Until our server forgot about us. My girl wanted another glass to go with her dinner, to ease the spice in her spaghetti. 30 minutes of waiting, a busser seen our distress, helped us. Which we thought would help, but no! We got the spaghetti reheated, but no second drinks! Until our server remembered us, and got our drinks. By that point I just wanted to cut our losses and leave. As we were finishing up, we did not realize that with our mediocre service, we get free mice! Presuming you could catch one. We seen one or two skittering around on the floor, giving us more attention than our server did. Food was good, but thats about it.
Great, old style pub. Love the ambiance. Great drinks and snacks.
Good service good dead frog nut brown ale and delish super tender calamari. Very nice old English style decor too.
Mediocre. The food is crazy expensive, 1 lb of wings 20$... happy hour food are snack size portions. Glasses were all water marked and server seemed like they didnt care to be there. The ambiance inside is really relaxing and welcoming, wish the staff and food was the same.
Food isnt very good. Limited selection of beers. Saw a mouse run across the floor.
Worlds best fries! You can put that on your sign! ;)
Great variety of foods, beers and cocktails. Great for the whole family
Nice tap beer and Montreal sandwich
the food took long to come and was not the best. Expensive for what it is. Don t recommend this for place.
One of the nicest pubs I have ever been in. I had a terrific steak dinner.
My clams were excellent, my table mates enjoyed their steak and kidney pie and salmon burger too. Service was a little lacking in attendance considering how many staff were on and how few people were inside but our server was friendly and the food came out fairly quickly.
Had 4 apps to start between 4 ppl... then everyone had the prime rib roast beef the Sunday special and they all loved it I had the liver and onions n it was also very good strongly recommend this place..
Good experience at this pub. It s my grammas favorite lunch spot. I generally go there for dinner with my grandmother. It s a good experience Moscow mule 7/10
Great food and a local pianist!
Dogs are very much welcome on the outdoor patio.
Decent bar for food and drinks
West Vans best kept secret. Just a wonderful dining room with near perfect acoustics for conversation. Great food, paneled walls, a fireplace and a piano player.
My favorite pub/restaurant in West Vancouver.
Nice patio but soggy mushy fish and chips. Batter was thick, greasy and floppy. Very disappointing for an English styled pub. At least the atmosphere was nice. Service was indifferent. Never asked how the food was or checked on us until we asked for the check.
Great pub with sunny patio
We love this pub, whenever we are in West Vancouver. Great food, friendly staff. Vegetarian options: Veggie Burger Parking: Street parking
Good patio and good food, but a really bad service.. we arrived at 8:45 pm because we saw the place closes at 11 pm but the server was always in a rush , and even took my plate before I finish it.
Went for a drink
Nice patio
Excellent service and food.
Food was good but I felt uncomfortable with our server. He sounded like he was in a rushed or stressed. Heard the manager yell at the bus boy to hurry up then laugh (not sure if this is a bit but was still uncomfortable to see).
Good portabella burger. I would go there more often if the bathrooms were sprayed with bleach mist to kill the always present background urine smell.
I love the burgers. Patio is nice on warm sunny days
We were on vacation and went to visit this neighbourhood as my partner previously worked at a cafe nearby. We decided to eat at this pub since it looked busy on the sidewalk patio. The food was decent, and the server was friendly when he came to our table. He saw to us when we sat down and ordered our drinks and food, but rarely saw him again for the hour and a half we were there. We wanted more drinks but he never checked in even when he would look over at our table with the empty plates/glassware while he was serving everyone around us. Food took a while to come out of the kitchen, but not entirely sure if thats because the kitchen was backed up or because the server wasnt paying attention. Great service when we had it, just didnt see enough of it.
Simply one of the best wings Ive had in Vancouver
Firstly, the servers were terrific eventhough they were slammed. They were out of the roast beef dinner by 6:40pm. Tried to order the Schnitzler but they were out of mashed potatoes so attempted the chicken pot pie but that was also off the menu so on my 4th attempt is ordered the burger. When it arrived it was so shriveled and dry, only a tiny piece of lettuce and a couple onions on the bun. It was the worst burger in my life, will not return. The 9.50 pints were good.
Good atmosphere freindly service Parking: Easy to park Wheelchair accessibility: Easy Wheelchair access
4 bits of gyoza + 2 glasses of wine for a final total (that included tax + 18% tip) over $60 caused me to rush home to make another 10 gyoza for ~ $2 and sip a glass of Kim Crawford for about $6. Wont be back any time soon. If you like gyoza, buy them by the bagful at TNT and enjoy them at home...
Came here with my two you children and was treated like family. Very warm, welcoming and accommodating. Service was great and food was savory. Ill be back!
The RED LION is a great neighbourhood pub to meet your friends for drinks and enjoy pub food. Red Lion is hosted by Mario Corsi and Tom always remembers what you drink! We look forward to every Friday to meet the Barfly gals and the guys sit at a different table to chat and enjoy the warm & cozy atmosphere.
Our new After-Zumba class gathering place. Kitchen is open till 9 on weekdays and the staff is awesome.
Ok this is one of the best clam chowders I ve ever had. Tiny bit difficult to get the clams out of the shell, but that s because it was so piping hot! Really really outstanding. Will come back to Dunderave just for it. Service was throughout excellent and attentive! Can t recommend the chowder enough. My partner loved his chicken strips too!
Fabulous neighborhood pub. We try to drop in for a beverage and an appie whenever possible.
Server was rude and ignorant. We came on a weekday. Guy was tall, thin, blonde hair, late 30s- early 40s. This is not West Van worthy.
Great place but the hours on google are wrong. Closes at 10.
Love the space and decor, this pub has a ton of potential. We arrived at 9:30pm on a Sat. Google says it s open until 11:30 but we were told before we sat all the way down on the bar stool that it s last call. After we got our drink the bartender told us I ll get you your bill right away 10 minutes of our drink included a guy from the kitchen screaming, apparently suffering a burn. One worker guy ran out the front door and the other workers stood around chatting and ensuring one another that last call was announced.
Great! Fast covid safe
Great place for a lunch on a sunny day
Live piano music when we went on a Friday night. Loved the atmosphere. Very cozy, old english pub vibes. Food was great. I am definitely coming back here again!
Great food great atmosphere friendly staff!
Food so so and service a little slow sometimes.
Very nice. Really enjoyed this establishment.
Unfortunately, was a horrible experience. The food was plain, overcooked, even the red sangria was bad. I feel bad for the front team, but is not a place to come back or recommend to a friend. My recommendation, don t go. We ordered nachos, clam shoulder, crepe, salmon and calamari.
Clam chowder is terrible, the salmon plain and overcook, the restaurant was not full and we waited more then 50 minutes, please dont come, luckily the servers are very friendly
Long wait for the food. The food was plain and tasteless , apparently they have no salt in the kitchen. The rice was hard and tasteless too. Runny clam chowder, soggy calamari, overcooked and plain salmon. Worst place to go for dinner. The sangria seemed to be just water with a little bit of color. I wont come back.
Very good vibe to the place and enjoyed the food
I came in this evening with my boyfriend and a good friend, and we all really enjoyed having Kim as our server. She has a really great, easygoing attitude, and shes just has a (for lack of a better word) realness about her, which we all appreciated, espescially after the last year without being able to connect much with people! The food was absolutely delicious too! Great experience! Thank you Kim for your great service, and to the kitchen for feeding us such deliciousness!
Fish and chips are good, calamari was soggy, burgers are just ok.. we went to try something new..
Good food
The food was delicious!
two thumbs up!:-)
Overall, the service is fine, food was okay but the price was too much for what you get. Better to go else where.
I know restaurants and bars are struggling for staff at this time but this group are ridiculously unprofessional. First visit to Vancouver and loved it all. Will be back with family. Definitely wont be back to the Red lion!!!!!!
We had Bangers and Mash and seafood crapes ....excellent. A great place to people watch
Have stayed here twice now, first time was a bad experience but decided to give it another try. Second experience was better except for confusion on a service dog we have. Saul was very awesome and professional to deal with and handles the matter, but the guy at the counter the next day ( didnt catch his name but he was a teller bald guy) was quite rude to us and did not make us feel welcome at all
The Red Lion Bar and Grill is one of our favorite stops in Vancouver. The atmosphere is cozy and convivial just what you d want from a pub. The food and service do not disappoint!
Good food nice place
Happy locals in one of the few English pubs on the North Shore
I have visited several North Shore for lunch over the past few weeks. This is place is by far the best in terms of food and service. I was with a disabled friend and every effort was made to assist him with his coat and to get seated. I was impressed!
Perfect. Excellent server and atmosphere. Going back
Good lunch.. Burger way over done..
Great ambience, good food, terrible service. Slow, took forever for food, it was cold... had to go to bar to get more drinks.
Its good atmosphere. Good food....
