Family owned and operated, world famous fish and chip restaurant in beautiful Horseshoe Bay, West Vancouver.
Trolls became along the years a tradition when we are in Horsebay. Cool and relax atmosphere, great fish & ships and friendly staff. Tonight was another great evening, the fog in the harbour brought a misty and serene atmosphere and the waiter was super friendly. He made our day!
Came here for the Oyster burger. Love it! Famous for fish and chips but I find it pretty oily. Nonetheless food taste great. Overall wonderful experience.
Fantastic genuine family-style restaurant! We stopped for lunch while waiting for our ferry to Nanaimo. The staff were wonderful, and there were plenty of food options. The menu even included directions to the ferry terminal, which is helpful since Google Maps can be a bit confusing here. A great little find!
Food wasn’t that great it was over priced. They charge groups of 8 or plus more 20% more. The washroom was not clean and the toilet seat was so GROSS! there were even bubbles in the toilet it was so gross, very very very tiny space in the washroom area. I do not recommend this place and I believe I’m not going to go back there ever again.
We had a lovely dinner last night at Troll's. My white sangria was perfection and I enjoyed my huge garden salad and crab cakes. Hubs said his salmon salad was yummy as well. The staff is super friendly. Highly recommend.
We had Fish and chips. The fish was OK but I never thought that french fries can be bad until I ate these ones. calamari was good as appetizer and the portion was big. A servant broke a glass just beside our table which is a normal accident but no one even check on us if we are doing good although the glass splashed under our table near our feet and no one even bother themselves to clean it up!!!!
I had an amazing experience at Trolls restaurant! The seafood was fantastic, especially the calamari—definitely one of the best in Vancouver. Megan provided outstanding customer service, making the visit even more enjoyable. If you’re a seafood lover, Trolls is a must-try!
I love going to Trolls for their amazing brunch. Every family occasion or after every long hike, we plan to go there. Thats my special treat to spend quality time with my loved ones. The atmosphere is really cozy and welcoming, perfect for hanging out with friends or just enjoying a relaxed meal. They recently adjusted their prices, but the quality of the food is still satisfying . Their famous Fisher Man Breakfast is a must-try 🤩 it comes with a complete breakfast along with tasty french toast. Its a great choice for starting your day right. The staff is friendly and make sure you have everything you need. Whether you're in the mood for a classic breakfast or something a bit fancier, this place has it all. Overall, Trolls is my favorite brunch place worth driving all the way from Vancouver to Horseshoe Bay. Good food, nice atmosphere, and great service make it a five-star experience. Definitely check it out!
Good food and amazing service. They offer gluten free options though limited but not short of amazing. I had the gluten free bun with the salmon it was truly delightful.
We recently dined at the Troll s restaurant, but unfortunately, it was not the experience we had hoped for. We ordered the Salmon and Chips, a soup, and a rice bowl. The Salmon and Chips were passable nothing remarkable, just average at best. The soup was disappointing; after a few spoonfuls, we decided it wasn t worth finishing. As for the rice bowl, it was outright inedible. We couldn t bring ourselves to eat more than a bite or two. The service was fine, but the quality of the food left a lot to be desired. We left feeling unsatisfied and regretting our choice. Sadly, we won t be returning anytime.
The service has always been good here. The clam chowder has changed over the years. It had a richness to it that made it quite desirable. It started to get thinned out and less enjoyable for me the last 4 or 5 times. Overall the food and coffee are good and it is only a short walk from the ferry.
Had a great lunch at Trolls with Gabby as our server. She checked up on us regularly to make sure we had a great experience. Breakfast was delicious.
Had some delicious tasting halibut and chips here. The waiter was friendly and helpful.
Shame prices have doubled in recent years
This place used to be the best fish and chips place. In recent years, it has gone downhill big time. I had the cod burger last time I was there, and the slice of cod inside the thick batter layer was no more than a 1/4 thick. For the 23 bucks plus tax, it was definitely not worth the money spent. The waiter and the atmosphere were good but the food has not been great for a long time! Up your game and get back to the great restaurant I remember!
Get you food quality back where it was 10 years ago!!
A staple for our family when we are waiting to catch a ferry! Thank you for always providing good food and a smile Food
There were 6 tables when we were having lunch. I waved my hands possibly for 5 mins before someone came to take our order. We were mostly ignored, suspect staff might be slightly racist. There were about 5 staff just standing around but nobody served us. Should have gone to the restaurant 2 shops away instead.
Back again!! As usual food was delicious Beautiful view along with food Food : 5/5
Wendy is every bit what every business wants and strives to achieve! And the cook is just as good. Highly recommend this establishment and most definitely will be a repeat customer!
Halibut was great!
The seafood chowder I ordered for takeout tasted kind of off (sour), I didnt have time to take back as I was leaving on the ferry. Not the friendliest of service, no smile with a greeting, what do you want?Didnt offer the menu, the takeout bag was dropped in front of me, the waitress had a scowling look on her face. Not going back.
One of the best fish and chips in the world Must try Highly recommend Food : 5/5
Busy and slower service. Great food worth the wait! Parking: Trolls parking lot behind the restaurant. Free and paid parking along the street. Food : 5/5 |
A restaurant that closes at 7pm and only employs teenagers. Enough said right? How do we Raye less than 1 star?
Fast service and their breakfast was awesome!
Classic OG diner of the bay. Nice renos over the years, been coming since I was a kid. Food never disappoints, but can sometimes be slow if theyre really busy.
Dietary restrictions: Gluten free Food
Food was great. Especially the Texas Burger. Em was a great server and super sweet.
Amazing place to be while u wait for the ferry to go home.
Fast and friendly. Good fish and chips. Vegetarian options: I wish they had more veggie options Food : 5/5 |
New experience! Discriminated tastes compared to the usual cram soup. Food
I ve been going here for 30 yrs. It s gone so down hill that s it s just sad. The staff and food are terrible now. Clearly whoever is running the place is disconnected with the state of the business and doesn t really care. You could tell everyone was having a similar terrible experience last night at the place.
Best restaurant for breakfast!! We love going there on weekends. The food is always good and the service is excellent!! 100% Canadian experience
The BEST fish&chips you can get in Vancouver Food : 5/5
Trolls is trolling everyone. The eggs are over cooked. The coffee is stale brown water. Its a diner at mid range prices. Just get a muffin anywhere else.
Beautiful view outside of the restaurant, you get to see the mountains. Food was okay, but service was great!
Staff are friendly. The food is good. Vegetarian options: Not really sure Parking: They take reservation for big crowds. They automatically added 20% tips for bigger crowds. Kid-friendliness: Yes Wheelchair accessibility: Yes
Stopped by after sightseeing in Whistler Its near the ferry terminal, but its hard to find without a navigation system. The restaurant looks like a family restaurant by the sea, but is it a celebrity? I guess its a popular store because there are a lot of caricatures of him posted there. The food and service were excellent and I was very satisfied.
Good restaurant good food
Very busy, staff were unorganized. Food tasted bland, pasta was overcooked.
one of the most lovely restaurant
Fish and chips were good, service was alright and they had a decent selection of beers. If youre in the area, its definitely worth checking this place out, especially in the summer. The patio is awesome!
This was our first time here. We came for lunch while waiting for the ferry to Nanaimo. The restaurant was full, and the staff were doing well to keep up with the demand. We both ordered the one-piece fish and chips because we had seen the large portions and felt one was enough. My wife had salmon, and I had halibut. We each had the IPA that was on tap. Despite being busy, our food arrived quickly. The fish was delicious and cooked to perfection. We were well taken care of by the hostess, server and other staff. This was an excellent dining experience.
Nice family style restaurant. The cod tacos were awesome as were the fries that came with another dish. Service was friendly, polite and unobtrusive. Vegetarian options: Not sure, but there was a vegetarian in our group. At the least, they had veggie burgers.
Fantastic
Overall, a nice restaurant in a nice town. Food can be better. I had the crab cake egg benedict. The crab cake tasted more like stuffing than crab and the hollandaise sauce did not taste good. However, great view of the harbor. Get a window seat if you can.
Love the foood and decor. Staff was awesome. Only thing is the calamari was very oily and not battered enough. Great experience still! Food : 5/5
Everything youd want in a Marina side diner.
Great meal and atmosphere
Excellent breakfast, excellent service! Especially when youre not running for the boat
Salmon burger was delicious, home tartar sauce was on point .!
Sitting at table and kitchen put food in a takeout bag. Then server realized mistake and served it on a plate. Was totally ignored by server the whole time. Had to go to bar myself for extra water. Tipped the usual 15% but tip was not at all deserved. Guessed they were short staffed. The food was good, as usual. Another server helped with my request for a few extras. This was a first time, poor server experience after many visits. Usually the service is excellent.
Worse fish and chips I had ever. I think they didn t change there oil in last two weeks. One of the waiter dropped the glass of water on the table and our child s dress gets wet. He used our napkins to clean the table and after that we 3 times asked them for some napkins.
Very delicious chowder. Highly recommend.
Great reliable halibut fish and chips while waiting for the ferry.
It was adequate. We had breakfast there. The eggs were cold and not great. The French toast was quite good. Overall about average.
The fish and chips were great and the staff was friendly. Nice location with a great view of the water.
Very poor service. Food make us sick.
You know the food here is good. They have everything. Fish n chips. Crab and artichoke dip. Or maybe you want baked salmon?! Get it in yah!
Our server Megan was so sweet and kind, and the fries are to DIE FOR! Garlic aoili is amazing too! Patio views of the ocean and a great atmosphere!
Megan, MEGAN! She s absolutely amazing! Honestly this place wouldn t be nearly as special without her. With perfect service, great food, vibes and all staff hospitality. I couldn t have asked for a better random visit to this gem of a restaurant. If you have the chance to visit this ocean front patio, ask for her. She s quick at service, friendly and personable. Most importantly though. Her beauty inside and out, outshines this patio. Will come back everytime for the amazing food but most importantly her!
Easily the best breakfast Ive had in who knows how long! The eggs Benny were absolutely perfect
Might be home of the World famous fish and chips, but my fish had a chewy, inedible part.
I wanted to revisit Trolls after 35 years when I lived in Vancouver. A very pleasant experience...food was just as good, service top notch and atmosphere warm and friendly. The view of the harbour harbor only adds to the allure. Keep up the good work folks! Hope I can come back after the next 35 years!
Nice spot for breakfast with a decent view from the outdoor tables. West Coast Benny was quite good. We had breakfast here after arriving and parking for the ferry 2 hours before departure and had enough time to get back to the car for loading. Food
had some amazing halibut here and equally amazing service. Thanks for such a great experience, Faith! :)
Wow, impressive! Worth it!
Best fish n chips Ive ever had. Randy was awesome as my server and he told me they couldnt be beat and he was right. Started with the crab dip on his recommendation and it was dynamite. The atmosphere was awesome as well. Will definitely be back. (Also the bartender makes the best milkshakes!)
Very friendly server, nice vibe, great patio with water view. Good Fish & Chips
We had a lovely lunch here as a family. The service was good and the food was delicious. Unfortunately my kids had their hearts set on the chicken strips and they were out. Otherwise it was a very good experience.
Delicious food! Amazing restaurant overlooking the harbor. Very friendly staff. We were a big group and the waiters really made us feel at home. Definitely coming back!
Passing through, and spent the night. Stopped in for some fish n chips - great food and staff. Very friendly. Beautiful view from the patio. Enjoyed!
I have been coming here for over 2 decades and its been always good. Yesterday, everything was good but I didnt appreciate to be seated at the corner in the beginning, many open tables by the window (moved to a different table). Please sit your clients at the best table possible instead of corners since wed like to enjoy the view if possible!
Good food, good service.
I really like this place. Best patio in horseshoe bay. Service and atmosphere is great. So far I had all the different types of seafood and burgers and they were amazing every time. But, what s going on with their fries. Not once was it fresh. I don t like sending food back and never have but if you wanna order fries as a side dish ask your server ahead of time.
I really liked that food. I had pancakes with bacon and syrup. It was so, so good. The bacon was amazing. The view was amazing too because weve been waiting for ferry and if we wouldnt have that nice view we wouldnt see that its already there. They even had informations about them, ferry and all the stuff and i really liked it. And we could also see the olympics on the TV. So thanks.
Absolute classic of a fish n chip place. Everything I ve had there was as it should be at pub levels of richness. Would go back.
The young woman that took our order and served us at take out is amazing. She has a bright future. Love the smile. Food is fresh and delicious.
We decided to order take out here while waiting for the Ferry, and all i gotta say is that this was the best bacon breakfast ive had ever.
Fish and chips, along with the beautiful Horseshoe Bay atmosphere is a combination unlike any other!
The atmosphere is so comfortable. It has a neighborhood feel, causal and great staff. I had the Salmon and it was cooked perfectly.
When in the HB I keep it real. I always fpuck wit Trolls nah mean
Pub grub was tasty but nothing special. Service was fast and friendly
Good memories here.
Had a great lunch, service and food were both good.
Batter with some fish & destroyed chips. Not Fish & chips.
Fish and chips
Always delicious!!! A great spot!
We always come back to this place many times. Love the fish and chips
I do not recommend this place. Our server was nice but the food was terrible. We had the cauliflower appetizer that was fried, a salad, and fish n chips and all were pretty terrible.
Fish 5 stars, cauliflower bites 4 stars, chips 3 stars. Nailed the fish! perfect crunch and super fresh! The chips taste like they had been fried, put in the fridge and then microwaved. Maybe try air frying instead of microwaving.
scrambled eggs dry soup cold, taste like canned soup sausage dry, over cooked, Overall . Well not good
Yum food!
My recent visit was nothing short of a nightmare. We were a group of 14, planning to enjoy a meal together but intending to sit separately in three smaller groups. To our shock, the restaurant insisted on charging a 20% service charge simply because we were part of a larger party, even though we clearly stated our desire to dine separately. The staff was inflexible and showed no understanding or willingness to accommodate our reasonable request. This rigid and unfriendly approach left us no choice but to refuse to dine in and take our business elsewhere. It s baffling how a restaurant can have such a ridiculous policy and expect customers to accept it without any consideration for their preferences. If you re planning to visit with a group, be prepared to deal with unreasonable charges and unaccommodating staff. Save yourself the hassle and find a place that actually values its customers and their dining experience. This was a truly disappointing and frustrating encounter, and I wouldn t recommend this to anyone.
Good food, server was nice but majorly understaffed Restaurant couldnt be in a more beautiful area Food
We went twice on our trip when catching the ferry. The chicken fingers are actually surprisingly delicious with large portion sizes. But the reason we go here is because of the vegetarian omelet is the best omelet I ve ever had. The egg part is really nice and thin, and the filling has vegetables that are nearly caramelized and taste fantastic. Delicious
Trolls was something out of the history books. Youve got that small town, old world charm, fish and chips and fries. The menu though was HUGE. The 2 piece halibut fish and chip plate was $32. Service was attentive and sweet, although they messed up a few times, but nothing worth mentioning. I will say my favorite part of the meal were the fries. They came out looking oddly anemic and then had this wonderful texture on them, almost crispy little puffs or shards of something that made them very pleasing. If in the area, would 100% return.
Food + View = Double Enjoyed
Excellent service(thanks Randy), food was very good and reasonably priced. Wed go back!
Booked online and showed up 5 min before to be told they turned off the booking system and dont use it. They quickly fit us in and food was decent
We each had fish and chips. I also had a diet Pepsi. One piece of fish each. Guess what the bill was? 75 bucks after the tip. $75 and Im an average tipper. For two people having a simple lunch of fish a chips. One piece of fish. $75 bucks. Now I dont begrudge people earning a living wage and the service and food was great. Pleasant atmosphere, pleasant experience. Food was greasy but then its fish and chips what do you expect. But riddle me this: would you expect to leave $75 the poorer? Idontthinkso dot com.
We got there 2 hours before our sailing and thought I d be a nice place to eat before our ferry docked. Turned out there was only 12 tables that was open, my fiancé noticed 3 tables that sat down and served before us, we didn t get our food 48 mins after we sat down. Was a bit disappointing with the services .. we were drained from the long drive on no sleep. Needed the energy for good food before we boarded the ferry. It was around 935am may 25th. Was our first time experiencing something like this. We didn t get no attention of refills or communications with the server. She did say sorry about the delay but I felt a bad energy when we first walked in. I m usually a person that tips on services but I m just upset and we were very hungry. I wouldn t feel comfortable going back there if our destination leads us back that way ..
Best fish and chips I ever had. Our waitress said they are known for the cod, and it did not disappoint. The tartar sauce was sooo good. So flavorful.
2024 Update: Sadly, I need to downgrade my original review. We ordered food for takeout this week and were quite disappointed for several reasons. First, the quality of the Red Clam Chowder has decreased significantly. What used to be a delicious chowder filled with seafood is now a think slop filed with tasteless flour or cornstarch. Second, there did not appear to be any staff over 18 working the evening we were in. The young lady that helped us handed us a bag that was missing half our order, then she tried to pass off a small soup as the serving size. While she was figuring that out, the lady beside me shared that she d ordered a salad 45 minutes ago and was still waiting. I sincerely hope Troll s goes back to using their original, delicious recipes, and has at least a few mature and experience waitstaff on each shift. Simply the best Clam Chowder I have ever had. A Must Stop after a day skiing at Whistler, a ferry trip top/from The Island, to entertain out of town visitors, or Just Because. A family favourite since 1967; we can always count on Trolls to deliver delicious seafood in the charming Horseshoe Bay Village.
Bay view, good food, great service.
I was really wanting breakfast. They serve all day breakfast here which is really nice. Good service. Zero complaints.
Great brunch for mothers day, great service, glorious view.
I just wanted to take a moment to recognize how awesome this place is. Not only are they a popular, high paced and a very busy restaurant at times but they have running it down to a fine art. My boyfriend and I were in there on Friday night near close. We had the amazing Matt serving us. Both of us were so impressed by how effortlessly and smoothly Matt served us. We were served within a minute of sitting down. He always checked in to see if everything was ok. He was on top of filling our drinks. Every side sauce or change was made. He didnt miss anything. I frequent this establishment with others and every single time we get Matt its a refreshing change from what kind of service that you tend to receive at other restaurants these days. Matt is a superstar! I spoke to Ben, the friendly and out right fun manager on at the time and wow, just more awesomeness. My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our conversation with Ben. You can tell that he is very passionate about his job. Even though you guys were closing we had no idea. No one rushed us, our service was 100% and the food was amazing. I love that Trolls has a family feel, from the atmosphere to the rapport that they build with their customers. You can tell that the staff are like one big family. Always familiar faces. I think that says a lot about the management. Its so nice to see. You guys have many great staff, it just happens that we get Matt quite often. Awesome job everyone! Cant wait for our next visit!
Absolutely lovely gem in easy walking distance from the ferry terminal. Service was good and fast. Food was delicious also!
Wonderful restaurant nice and open never feels crowded. Food was quick and well executed for everyone I came with. Super friendly staff very energetic. Food : 4/5
Ordered to go. Staff was a bit aloof.
Fish and chips is my life. I sat at the outdoor table and relaxed while looking at the scenery.
Brunch on the patio with a beautiful view
Great location love the history
Famous fish and chip restaurant in beautiful Horseshoe Bay
I am coming from West Vancouver my mom from Sunshine coast is a great place in the middle. Will be going there often. Owners helped on the busy day. They were accommodating for my mom on walk on walk off at the very picking up the package and they watched it safely while we had lunch and walked around horseshoe Bay Wheelchair accessibility: The staff for more than willing to move a bunch of tables around. To sit me and my mom for her visit for lunch.
Service was not bad Food was average, fries were cold We ate and left Food : 3/5
Expensive but very good food, 1 piece haddock and chips.
Love it here been coming here since i was a kid and most of my family been coming here since it first opened long time ago . Pictures below are strawberry Milkshake, vegetarian veggie burger ,yam fries, coleslaw , house fries . They got other yummy food
Great!!!
The haddock and chip were delicious, but they changed the recipe for the tartar sauce, but not in a good way.
Stopped in for breakfast while waiting for our ferry. Not very busy at all which was nice. So that said you wouldnt expect the food to be cold by the time it arrived. Our server was pleasant and met our needs. Only complaint was the cold seafood omelette and the eggs and toast. Sausage was okay but the potatoes were barely lukewarm. Just glad it wasnt busy.
We had a lovely lunch here. I loved the food! Great service and atmosphere.
Gluten free burger is fantastic!
Dietary restrictions: Healthy food choices available Food
Hate leaving negative reviews but service was brutal. Food was fine but not worth the 100$ Got us drinks fast and ordered fast but got our order wrong. Im aware it takes time to remake food but we saw the correct order sitting in the heat lamp for a good 15 minutes waiting to be delivered. Wasnt checked on once other than when I had to correct my order. Drinks sat empty the entire time we were there. I had to flag her down to order for my son. Wasnt asked if we needed anything else just handed a cheque. Multiple waitress just sitting around the bar chatting. I get this is a fast turn over restaurant due to the ferry but a little customer service would be appreciated especially when the first gratuity option is 20%... tipped 15% and should have been 0.
I m sure their dining room is great but I always go to their take out window and eat in the park in front of the restaurant. There are lots of benches and green space there .nice to do a picnic in summer! Halibut and chips or oyster burger is my usual to order. The fish is so large and juicy it s often enough to share with two. They have decent beer selection to go as well.
Long standing local destination with one of the best fish & chips with very reasonable price! Always go for 2 piece fish & chips (you will know why when you are there ) Only reason why I gave 4* is because they serve fries that are already fried and been sitting a little making them taste very oily. I am sure it doesn t happen all the time but thats what I got. Overall, great local vibe right in front of the water and cute little playground for kids! Parking: As it is somewhat a tourist attraction area and very close to the ferry terminal, parking does get a bit challenging on wknds and holidays
Excellent breakfast. Good coffee. Friendly service. Down bay the bay.
I really LOVE the fish&chips. I wish my sister was with mr cuz she really like it.
We were a group of 7 and when the waitress brought the bill it looked way too much for what we had ordered plus she processed the payment and gave back the card reader to add the tip, which started at 20% and then 25% and 30%. Upon reviewing the bill, as we grew suspicious we found out that the tip of 20% was already added to the bill and the waitress was charging an additional tip on top of the full amount with already added tip. Left a very bad aftertaste. Definitely not an experience I d go back for. The food was okay.
Tasty breakfast! A nice spot to grab a bite in the morning while you wait for the ferry. Coffee wasnt the best, though. Service was fantastic.
The employees were nice but the service lacked. The view was great. The food was greasy but tasted ok.
Best fries ever! (the sauce was awesome) Food
such a rude old lady works there..possibly racist! ...was wondering to change my beer because it tasted bad and been looking for our server she came out kitchen with foods passed without saying anything and i was watching to see if its our table that she is going into to say about the drink to her suddenly this lady from the kitchen with he loud tone shouting HEY YOU CANT WALK AROUND THE RESTAURANT WITH YOUR DRINK! THERES NO BAR HERE! WE ARE NOT LICENSED HERE! and i was like im looking to change and remove this beer from my bill it taste bad! and she was like THATS HER SERVER OVER THERE AT YOUR TABLE SHE CAN HELP YOU! and i was wondering was she having just a bad day or personal peroblem.? this attitude literally made feel so pissed of for the first time there after all once a week visit commuting from NV. im not sure should i come back again with good vibes again and be worried to be down or this is how they act towards human being costumer.
The food is really delicious, the best fish and chips you have to try it!
Great food, great place to go while waiting for the boat.
Charged me 46 dollars for 2 patties bacon and cheese. I didnt even want fries.
Everything was great! Came highly recommended and did not disappoint.
Best view... quaint town. Lots of history honored.
What an excellent spot for lunch while waiting for a ferry!! Very cool, rustic atmosphere. Wonderful server. Great food!!
Great local fish spot near the harbour. Been around since 1946, which explains the authentic rustic atmosphere. Prices are reasonable and portions generous. Id imagine its quite an institution in west van. Had the trolls chowder, which was rich and not too creamy. Not as good as the chowder I had in Seattle, but pretty good.
Great food and good service.
Ive been going to Trolls since I was 12yrs old.(Im 70 now!) My dad took me, now I get to take my grandkids. Something to be said about tradition! Thank you Trolls and all your staff..
You want fish and chips, then go to Trolls and you will leave happy and satisfied...One piece Cod is not enough as you will need two pieces because they are so tasty...Their coleslaw is also amazing that you may need to order a side of it and the fries are delicious to the point where you will need more tartar sauce and douse those fries...mmmm....Go ahead and try them out at Horseshoe Bay and you will see why there is a line up outside to get a table inside...They are so good that their take out window is busy too... Parking: If you park in a free spot far away, it is worth the walk to Trolls so dont be discouraged as if you look around, you will find a spot
Absolutely Delish food and amazing service! Darryl was a absolutely wonderful server! Food
Disappointing experience at Trolls Restaurant. I ordered fish and chips for takeout, but unfortunately, it was not crisp at all and was covered in excessive oil. The taste was lacking, and to make matters worse, they forgot to include the sauce. Overall, not a satisfying or healthy meal. Wont be returning.
I order fish and chips to eat. The cost of a meal for two people is 52.5 Canadian dollars including tax for fish and chips alone. The cost-effectiveness is low and the food taste is so-so.
The fried fish and chips are fresh and delicious !
The fish and chips was 10/10 and our server was very friendly and helpful
Wouldnt have eaten here unless we had to as there arent many options in the area while youre waiting for the ferry. Food was bland, beer options were low, and server never came back to check on us at our outside seating and forgot to bring us utensils so we waited and asked a busser who was behind us setting the table for a set. We tipped 15% as standard and she gave us a stink face after seeing the bill and ignored us when we said thanks and goodbye. We never complained and was courteous throughout.
I m painting a mural in town and wow, this poutine I just murdered was a 10/10. Crispy, tender, thick-cut fries with a generous smothering of gravy and a respectable volume of curd, melting atop this exemplary mound of savoury glory. Hats off to the chef; you nailed it.
If you come to Horseshoe Bay you have to eat here, we make a point every time we are close! Great Food and even better service!
Food was mediocre nothing special. Staff was good but busy
Today I was in front of the desk waiting to be seated, and some people arrived after me and my wife, and they sat them down first without asking anything, I decided to leave, I didnt like that action
Everything was awesome.
Good Fish and Chips but sometimes inconsistent quality. Why is coffee so bad in Vancouver restaurants?
The service was expeditiously provided with a smile and good grace. The restaurant itself was real cozy and unique. The food was good but the batter on the fish was not crispy and felt like it had sat out for too long.
Food was okey , Atmosphere was not bad but we were waiting for a long time for our food. We don t have a good experience with this restaurant .
The food was nice so was the atmosphere of the place. The server however, completely ruined the experience. A group of us paid separately and half left tips but she had SO MUCH attitude when the rest of us didn t leave a tip saying it was customary but during our time didn t ask us if we wanted drinks and then also got our food order wrong? We would normally leave a tip if the service is exceptional but in this case it wasn t. We work in hospitality ourselves so understand the need for tips but you should not expect tips and you should also not give attitude to customers if you don t get one as you do not know their situation.
The fish pie was so good!! This place has a homey, comfortable vibe, good service, and good food! Its a family businesses that has been there for over 70 years. I would definitely go back! Parking: There is street parking in front and a small lot behind.
Trolls is an institution!! I have been enjoying Trolls for as long as I can remember. Grab lunch and then head down to the docks and watch the ferry traffic and fisherman while they bring in their catch. The perfect afternoon!
My parents and I did a leisurely drive from Delta to West Van via Marine Drive and ended up at Trolls. We had a lovely visit. The service was super friendly and the fish and chips were the best weve had in a long time. Mom said they were the best she ever had. Again, the service was stellar and the bathrooms were super clean and roomy. Thanks for a fun visit.
Very nostalgic restaurant Food was awesome Very friendly staff Food : 5/5
Lovely servers. Busy environment
Looked forward all week and was not satisfied. Fish was bland, chips soggy. No taste. Malt vinegar watered down. I will stay with the British restaurants instead. Thank you for the food poisoning on Sunday night!
