1534 Marine Dr, West Vancouver, BC V7V 1H8, Canada
Now Re-opening. Thank you for waiting. We are back in business! Come in and enjoy!
Kiisu was good before the renovation and is just as good if not better now. The new modern interior is nice, however I personally preferred the old more traditional design prior to the remodel (but that's just me) Food wise, it's great and well-priced. The salmon is very clean and has little to no miware from what I had. Recommend! Probably one of the better sushi places you can find in West Van
Fresh sashimi, tasty appetizers, and generous portions! I ordered Kiisu sashimi set and was pleasantly surprised by the amount of uni it came with. I would definitely come back again!
We tried this beautifully designed and renovated Resturant in the downtown of West vancouver this weekend. Nice decoration and simple design of the restaurant made it very comfortable, especially the beautiful and comfortable white leather seats. Food menus had plenty of options. We ordered a couple of launch boxes as well as sushi rules and starters. Food were all great, fresh and tasty . The portion was generous and the prices were reasonable and very competitive. The service was so fast and great. In less than 1 minute we seated, our server brought us tea and water and handed out the menu. Food also served in less than 10 mins. We had a great experience here and would like to recommend it to everyone.
Had a great experience here. Our server was attentive. The Saba lunchbox had good variety and the grilled fish had no bones. Everything tasted fresh and well-balanced.
All the food was delicious and fresh, even the wasabi was delicious! I loved de House Roll stuffed with everything and the miso soup is really good. The waitresses were attentive to everything, even ensuring that we had no shortage of tea. The place is relaxing, very clean and comfortable. We will definitely return!
Quality quality quality. Kiisu isn't the cheapest of the sushi places along Marine but the quality of ingredients you get is great. They have excellent sushi and a delicious oyako don. We came here multiple times in the short time we spent in West Van and it's been consistent every time. If you like rolls, sushi and Japanese food, this would be the go to for the area.
The whole family had an excellent lunch here! Very calm and clean environment with exceptional service and super high-quality food! Everything felt fresh and tasty, with a good portion for each serving! Decent variety to choose from as well. I'm sad I can only give them five stars. I highly recommend this place!!!
The restaurant is located on Marine Drive, and has free street parking for 2 hours, or alternatively there is parking available along Ambleside Park. The staff were amazing and showed outstanding customer service - the two ladies that served us were incredibly kind and accommodating. For example, my friend has some dietary restrictions and so asked for a few modifications to her dish, and they created something especially for her. We ordered spicy salmon nuggets, seafood salad, Dx. assorted 18pcs, and sushi, and all of it was wonderful. The quality of the seafood was so high - it was like butter melting in my mouth! Every single bite was fresh and beautifully presented, especially the 18pcs platter which was like a work of art! The crockery was also beautiful. This restaurant wasn’t necessarily cheap, but I wouldn’t consider it expensive bearing in mind the quality of the food, service, location etc. More than recommended!
Our go to for sushi.. the tempura is amazing, the fish is super fresh. I highly recommend the long bean tempura, and temaki.. also the presentation is top notch. Service can seem a bit flustered at times but all in all a great place
Very good
Very nice
Taste beyond compare. Light ready atmosphere, good staff, best sushi. Truly enjoyable and delicious.
Considering that I was at a table with 17 other people, the service was fantastic. The food was great and they served all of us miso soup on the house.
Everything was so delicious, I strongly recommend miso soup
Had the oyakodon and Saba lunch menu. Tasted different from competitors. Love it. Great service too.
First of all, extremely great sushi for price, very big portion for the money I spent, it is 1am and I ate here earlier today and I can t stop thinking about how good the sushi is. The place is very nicely designed with great aesthetics, incredible service, and I normally don t leave reviews but when food is this good I might have to. I ate the real crab and dynamite roll and for its name I can taste the real crab and it is not imitation crab! The washrooms are very clean as well and smells amazing. I would highly recommend this place and will be my go to from now on, please try this place out and I can support the incredible reviews!
Great service here, love the black rice rolls
Excellent sushi and very friendly service.
The service is good, but the taste is not much different from other Japanese restaurants in Metro Vancouver. The Tangyang chicken dipping sauce included in the set meal for two is very special! Except for the fried udon noodles and salmon rolls in the last two photos, all of our dishes are set meals for two.
Food was ok, decent tekka maki. Service was really unpleasant. Thank you for dinner
Always a delicious stop for Japanese food on Marine, surprisingly cheap as well. We are regular customers.
Eating in or doing take-away from Kiisu in West Vancouver, you ll be treated to impeccable service and great quality food. Highly recommend.
I visited this lovely Japanese restaurant on my own and felt completely comfortable. Great service and excellent food!
The food was absolutely delicious and the service was great! I highly recommend trying the seafood salad - it had an unreal taste.
Food is good but it always feels like they are one waitstaff short. They are so busy running around they often forget parts of your meal or drink, or you re waiting like 30 minutes to order or pay. Great restaurant but looking for other place as I m tired of being full from my appetizer because my roll took another 20 minutes.
I like the sushi a lot. And the noodle dishes. Just the right amount of rice wine vinegar for the rice Our kid likes this place alot.
A must go to in West Vancouver.
Great variety of freshly made sushi dishes served with a smile
Tried the Dine Out Vancouver menu for lunch - this is the best Japanese food we have had in Canada this place deserves to be much busier. Well done to the chef.
Not bad
My new favorite sushi restaurant in West Vancouver. Friendly staff and really good sushi with reasonable prices.
It has really nice atmosphere inside and a very nice server. I tried the sashimi and nigiri is amazing as well as the tempura. It s my go-to place especially sashimi, sushi and rolls. Would highly recommend checking this place out.
Had a delicious dinner at this new restaurant! Will definitely come back!
As regulars prior to the closing during Covid, I was extremely excited to eat here again. The atmosphere was very cozy and clean. The new floor plan allowed the servers to see us easily while remaining private and in the comfort of the booth, which was sparkling clean. Our server Olivia was polite, swift, and extremely knowledgeable about the food on the menu. I have allergies and she knew each component in the dish I was ordering, ensuring the ingredients were safe. Finally, the fish was extremely fresh and had silky taste, all in fulfilling portions to the amount we paid 15-25$ per person left us wth leftovers. In all, the renovations are for the better, the food has gotten better, and the service was fantastic! Props to Olivia for taking such good care of us.
The restaurant was clean and the seating spacious. Their food was decent and reasonably priced.
We were seated and then made to wait several minutes while the servers made no effort to so much as bring the menu, a glass of water or even say they would tend to us shortly. The restaurant was not very busy and the servers had enough time to wipe down several tables while we sat and waited. Customer service training is badly needed at this location.
Sooo gooood!! very responsive staff, quick service and hot delicious foods!!
A day after eating the house Special Rolls, a friend and I both endured a food poisoning attack, the stomach pains, nausea and all night throwing-up were seriously bad. There is definitely something very much amiss with the food handling at this restaurant.
Good quality sushi! The portion is good too. Pleasantly surprised.
Probably the best sushi restaurant I went, so glad they reopened after those few years!
Best value for money sushi in West Vancouver. Overall, it is very high quality at a good price. We always order the Dinner For Two and take home enough food for a lunch for one the next day. Our go to sushi restaurant.
The restaurant was bigger and much nicer than I expected. Foods are good, I enjoyed the crunch crunch roll a lot. Unagi rolls need more unagi sauce. This restaurant now became one of my go to sushi place on the North shore
Nice food and good service
Overall the most meh with poor service. The rolls are so packed with rice and are so massive that you have a hard time focusing on the ingredients. Nigiri tuna was stringy. Should have taken the hint when we were the only ones in the restaurant. Nice atmosphere with comfy booths though. Super expensive for what you get.
This place is an absolute staple for sushi lovers in Vancouver. As a special roll kind of guy, their Krazy Dynamite and Dancing Dynamite is the bomb. Great to see you guys back after closure! Keep up the good work.
My favourite sushi place! I honestly don t understand the negative comments about this place cuz the quality of the food and service here never disappoint me. Their sashimi is always fresh, amazing, and worth the money. I ve tried pretty much all of the special rolls they have on the menu and they are all sooooo good.
the best food and service, the qualty of sashimi is out standing
Fresh!
bad service the waiters are extemporaneous the food is in poor condition the bathrooms are very dirty and there are no bathrooms for men and women bad experience do not come to this place
My new favourite sushi place. The food was on point and I can t wait to go back and try new rolls.
I love this sushi place! We ordered the sashimi platter, the avocado combo and a spicy tuna roll and it was perfect. The fish is so fresh!
My family loved the old location--wooden accents inside, a darker interior. Since this new location opened up we wanted to revisit an old favourite. The food was phenomenal. However that atmosphere we loved was gone--replaced by a very open and bright layout. White interior with lights coming down from all angles. That old charm isnt there anymore. It was also quite expensive, however it is very good food, made and presented with care and skill. Vegetarian options: Buddha roll is quite good.
Super good. Friendly helpful staff. Great food. Fast service. You cant go wrong eating here!
Food is amazing 10/10 . Very nice staff and a warm atmosphere. Very reasonable price
A great experience at Kiisu, they provide fresh food and exceptional customer service, thanks to the nice and friendly staff
Very good food and service, the spicy chicken don was amazing
My first time dining in this restaurant! The service from Ham was amazing, the food was fresh and delicious and presentation was lovely. I would highly recommend, and will definitely be back for more! Thankyou for everything!
Service and food is phenomenal here, Ham was my server :)I always heard good things about this spot living in west van - always meant to go here. $20 for lunch special for the amount of food you get is so good!
Great food, lovely staff, fast service. Is definitely one of the go-to places in west van
THE BEST SUSHI IN VANCOUVER I SWEAR! I know it s got such a long time to re-opening the restaurant. Finally, I had a meal here! They still use various fishes and that was so fresh and tasty. As well as it was very reasonable price. After having a meal, I had another Togo order for my wife.
Ki Isu Sushi is back to their old place after a few years renovating. We went back there tonight after a few years. Staff are great.
I am revising an old review where I was not happy. This sushi restaurant used to be fantastic. Then, just prior to the building being vacated and rebuilt, it wasnt very good at all. But now they are back. And the food is divine, up there with the very best 5-star sushi places. Really superb!!
My favourite sushi restaurant is back in town again There are kind staff and great food as before. I am glad they are back
Top quality food, fantastic service. These folks have the attention to detail that you want in a dining experience.
They suddenly closed restaurant 2years ago for renovation and they re-open now. The taste of food is much better now than before and quality of ingredients are even better. I feel like they are using variety of fish than before. The taste like a eating sushi in Japan Tha fantastic taste, reasonable price and good service. 100% for sure. Re-visit again~
Probably one of the best sushi places in all Vancouver. It was amazing unfortunately it is closed now. I hope they open elsewhere. More expensive sushi places are still open but they will never be as good.
These folkes know sushi. Quality product and busy, so always fresh. Yum! Update: Closed for building repairs :( but their sister restaurant on Pacific @ Homer is really good. I hope they re-open their West Van locale soon.
Such good value, amazing chefs, and lovely waitresses! Plus it s a half block from the beach for sushi picnics
its good. Good for 5-year-old children and good for adults. I use it often and all the food is generally delicious~^^
The BEST sushi in West Vancouver. The staff is always friendly, the fish is always fresh (and Oceanwise) and the service is always quick! Love this place :)
Good draft beer. Good food for the price. Unusual teriyaki. Love their blood rice.
Delicious sushi , great prices and fast service. I always get take out here. The crunch crunch is my favourite.
Best yam roll around!
I got a roll for take out and it was old and cold! They keep their take out rolls in a container in the fridge, I had to throw it away. The exact same as save on food premade sushi! Very disappointing.
Best sushi place in West Vancouver. But again West Vancouver has a very limited restaurants and food options.
Great food and service, as usual.
Food was excellent. Space well laid out. Staff very attentive. We have been coming to this restaurant for years but hadnt been there in last few. Was very impressed that quality and presentation have improved upon the excellent it already was. We had an amazing dinner. Thank you so much.
One of my favourite Japanese restaurants in Vancouver. Good customer service and prices are reasonable. Quite a spread in the menu to choose from. :)
Rich everything
Closed indefinitely since March due to the buildings structural issues.
Love their dinner boxes. Yummy, fresh Japanese food with good prices!
Great sushi and service!
Love it every time!???
Great sushi, small dining room ( hard to find a table for more than 4) fast service.
Absolute gem!
Fantastic! I love the dinner boxes, they are a great deal!
This sushi is reasonably priced and the ingredients are fresh! The service attitude is not very good!
I showed up and ordered take out, leaving a healthy tip. I sat waiting 10 Min without anyone offering a warm tea while I wait. I actually had to ask for it.the food that came to the tables while I waited (and waited it seems) looked good, so hopefully when I eat itllibe worth the wait and wait.
Great little Japanese restaurant in the heart of Marine Dr. Ordered the Dinner boat platter. Very delicious, esp the Chicken Karage. The tempura sauce has a unique taste. Service was good and prices are average. Highly Recommended!
Amazing sushi & very affordable!
Always good for a quick bite. Good location with plenty of parking in the area. Service is good and most importantly the quality of their sushi is decent. Can take out if its too busy and enjoy by the beach. Good people watching spot as well, not that West Van is that interesting or diverse. Can watch soccer moms denting innocent peoples bumpers in their big German SUVs and their offspring behaving entitled. Sorry, didnt mean to put you off your food. The sushi is worth it.
I eat here occasionally and its decent sushi. But the reason for the poor review is that they are doing that irritating thing of pre-setting their payment to make you select a tip amount when you pay by debit and credit card that STARTS at 20%! Or if you feel inclined, you may leave a 30% tip! I find this incredibly presumptuous, especially since I am usually picking up take out so didnt even get served. They seem to have forgotten that its called a service because its the choice of the customer to pay on the basis of the quality of SERVICE. Im not patronizing this place anymore for this reason.
good, try California Salad
Greedy staff. I used to love this place a lot. I order lunch most of the times. I give tips even for take out orders. This time I got the cash and forgot my wallet. They charged some extra for rice (that s fine) and they have recently increased the price and I wasn t aware of it. I had only 10 cents less and the lady said I need exact cash. I was too disappointed and a kind guy was watching there and he offered me 10 cents. I paid but would never ever willing to visit again. You guys gets lot of tips and once in a while can t let go 10 cents.
The sushi starts around $4 and a solid meal is ~$12. I really enjoyed the sushi I ate, so much better than some of the other stuff Ive been eating
Good sushi at decent prices, fast service. Solid place for lunch.
Very nice special rolls, good quality and service
Takeaway Domburi was great but sushi wasnt fresh - as we had takeout we didn t take it back (rice was hard, fish was warm, too warm...) really disappointing.
Great food. Amazing taste, good quality, reasonable price.
I have eaten here often and enjoy the Avocado Tuna salad. This time I dont know if it was the red tuna nigiri or ebi nigiri or the goya or the spicy agatashi tofu; I felt ill within an hour. Not a good experience. My son ate something different and was fine.
Good service. Pleasant staff. Good portions. Tasty food.
Used to be good, awful service now, Oh so sorry we forgot your soup, drinks, and the box to take the leftovers home. Teehee reary swrorry. Never going back. Other places in West Van are better for service and quality of fish.
Good quality sushi at a decent price. Check out the lunch specials as they provide good value. I find the Tuna really good here as well.
Totally average. I will not go again. No life. No spirit.
Friendly staff and great service. sushi was good, not amazing. Would still come back but trying some other places nearby could be worth a shot too.
Liked it. Small place but fast service and good food.
Fresh and tasty sushi
The best Japanese on the North Shore! This is the only place we get our sushi. We tried others and this is the best. I highly recommend the dinner boxes as they are great deals.
Fresh sushi, and a good selection of rolls and specialties
Basic sushi overly salted. Quality has declined over the last year or so.
Nice salmon and mango
Always good, prompt service. Best rolls in West Vancouver
awful - box combo came with teriyaki chicken and karaage chicken? Teriyaki sauce was flavorless and the other chicken did not look very appetizing. The gomae was tasteless too.The place definitely has gone down since last time I came. Never coming back.
I have been here many times and the food is decent but Im very disappointed with the customer service I received during my last visit. I went into the store around 8:30pm and ordered sushi to go. My tab came to $65 which was fine, and I tipped them an extra 10% (even though it was take out), still fine. What made me upset is that I asked for low sodium soya sauce because my friend is on a strict diet and she tried charging me another $2 for a small plastic sauce container. The waitress claimed it was policy and I told her I just tipped her for doing nothing. She didnt budge and I walked out knowing I will never return. Customer service needs to improve, there are better sushi places (food & service) in west van.
Excellent sushi restaurants. Varied fish and generous slices. The price is more than fair and the service is friendly.
Not too bad. I tried their Unagi Don and it is very delicious but small in portion.
yummy yummy yummy - great vegan options - keeps everyone happy :)
The quality of this restaurant has dramatically gone down since the first time Ive stepped into the restaurant 4+ years ago (Ive been going back regularly) . Back then, the food and service was great. Especially the food! All types of rolls and sushi were excellent. Now, every time I order aburi tuna stack or brown rice salmon sashimi, they would continuously tell me that they run out or black and brown rice and only have white rice. Theyve also added crunchy stuff to replace the avocado in the brown rice salmon cake. Sushi rolls are also now shorter than they were previously! :( Service is just rushed now. They dont care much for their clients. Well there you have it Ki Isu, youve just lost an old loyal customer.
Best crunch crunch and tampura Love this place
Great food and cozy place
Went on a date night here. very good
If you like eating randomly packed meals to go, this is the place. For months, I have ordered the same thing for takeout every Saturday night to the point they even know my name: Dinner Box A with no avocado in the California roll. And every week, the order is wrong. Tonight was a double doozie. Chicken teriyaki became beef (even though the bill states Chi). With no teriyaki sauce. Dynamite roll has slices of tuna in it. In the past, I would open the bag to check the order, but always got sad looks of distain from the staff, and therefore, stopped. The laws of probability dictate that they should periodically pack the meals correctly just by sheer luck, but no, so its time to move on. Too bad, because the food is good when assembled correctly.
Great, healthy, high quality Japanese food. Love the brown and red rice.
I ordered take out! While I was waiting I could see the chefs and their helpers working on orders! One of the helpers picked his nose and then started putting seaweed salad with his bare hands in the bowl. I got so disgusted and felt sick to my stomach! I told one of the girls and she said I am so sorry........ We will change your salad! Not only the guy did not wash his hands he continue to fill in the next orders! The girl reluctantly mentioned it to the chefs/owners and to my surprise there was not any reaction except laughing and speaking between each other in japenese! I throw out the salad, the sushi was just ok and pricy! I had the same experience few years ago and stopped going there but today I gave them the second chance and to my amazement they are still practicing what they were few years ago! As Maya Angelo said believe people the first time! Never again and I recommend to watch it when you order food there!!
Just looks good.
Their crunch crunch roll is awesome! Overall a great sushi place, wish it didnt close early on weeknights.
Nice Service, friendly personal. Good sushi
Fresh and tasty food. Service was little slow but it was weekend. Well go again!
awful
Great, good prices and great quality. Service is fast when half full and food is delicious.
Best sushi
When we first moved to West Van 7 years ago, we asked for Sushi recommends and this one kept coming up. Its now our favorite. Always fast friendly service and good, not the cheapest but not outrageously expensive either. I like that when you eat in the restaurant, they serve the food on real plates, not plastic dishes. Our waitress always remembers us and reminds me that I prefer sushi with brown rice (because sometimes I forget). Not all restaurants offer brown or black rice, but this place does. Take out is always on time and as ordered.
Small restaurant and we LOVE IT. The menu is straight forward, don t hesitate to ask a staff member for some help on what to pick. They are very friendly and helpful, more than willing to lend a hand. Everything is delicious, well presented and very fresh and it is great value for what you get. Every bite is simply heaven. Service is always excellent. The chefs are real masters. Genuinely, this little place is one of the highlights of West Van. We highly recommend coming here! Rimma & Svetlana K.
Kind of a small spot but was very happy with the product. Had never tried black rice sushi before but we got that topped with toro and toppings as a pie sahpe. Had to be one of my top 5 favorite dishes ever and a surprise to boot. J
