Earls Kitchen + Bar in West Vancouver

Had the most marvelous girls lunch the other day at your restaurant! We ordered brunch and cocktails, followed by dessert and coffee. Our server was friendly and efficient, our meal was perfectly paced, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal. Thank you for a great experience, we will definitely be back.

Great visit with my former colleagues from the BCMEA Food

The food was good and prices were reasonable, but the service was disappointing. While we were still finishing our meal and talking, the server repeatedly asked to clear the plates, which felt rushed. When we agreed, the bill was brought without asking if we were ready, implying we should leave if we weren t ordering more. Additionally, there was no option to skip tipping on the machine, which is frustrating because some people prefer to leave tips in cash separately. Overall, the experience lacked hospitality and professionalism

Our visit to this restaurant left us extremely disappointed with the service. During dinner, before we even finished our meal, the waitress came over, took the plates, and immediately brought the bill without asking if it was convenient for us to pay at that moment or if we wanted to stay longer. This gave the impression that we were being rushed out, even though the restaurant was half-empty (the visit took place at 6:30 PM). Unfortunately, this kind of attitude completely ruined the overall experience. I do not recommend this restaurant.

The drinks and the bartenders were great. The host, meh. We came in for a drink and asked to sit on the patio, and she explained that that its winter and too cold (made me feel a bit dumb for asking, even though its 11 degrees and sunny and super nice out..and they have patio heaters) then 15 minutes later sat a table on the patio... Cool thanks!

Certainly one of the best vegan pizzas Ive had. What a pleasant surprise! We also had the vegan tacos, which were amazing. Highly recommend this place!

The staff was amazing tonight. Upon arriving at the restaurant, I started suffering from painful heartburn. One of the servers approached me and asked me if I was well. Very quickly, three more staff members approached me, and one of them kindly asked me if he could run to 7Eleven to get me some Tums, which he did. I am so impressed with the level of care that everyone showed me tonight. The manager followed up with me later on at my table to ask me if I needed anything else. Thank you, Earls..... the food was pretty amazing too!!!

My friend and I went to Earls to celebrate my Birthday and it was a wonderful experience. We were sat at the perfect table, had a wonderful server (Brandon) and the assistant server (Elsa) was a superstar! Thank you for the fun birthday plate of goodness!

Came here for dinner and it was terrific. What really stood out to us was how kind and welcoming our server Janice had been. She was very diligent, bubbly and made our experience here that much better. Will definitely be coming back thanks to her!

We had a fantastic experience dining this morning at ambleside earls with a large group. Our waitress Elsa and waiter Brandon did an exceptional job managing everything, ensuring we were all taken care of despite the size of our party. Their attentive service and friendly demeanor made our meal enjoyable. Highly recommend this restaurant!

We waited a long time for the order to be taken. This is due to under staffing. The beer showed up right away, but the tea did not. We had to ask again for the tea. It came warm, not hot when we had almost finished eating. This seems to be a trend at this Earls, they cannot do hot water. This is the third time we have had warm or cold water for tea. We asked for no sauces on the impossible burger, with cheese added. It came without cheese and all the sauces. I do not think that we will be going to this Earls anymore.

Had an excellent experience eating on the patio on a beautiful sunny day. The apps, cocktails and mains were all delicious and the service was prompt and friendly. Would definitely dine here again when I m in the area

Nick the night time manager went above and beyond. Our server was tied up all night with other tables and Nick provided an exceptional service to us. You can t pay this man enough for what he does to the earls name.

I ve never written a negative review, but unfortunately I had a very disappointing experience tonight and thought it was necessary to share. There were a few things I want to draw attention too: 1. We made a reservation for 8pm to celebrate a very special occasion. After arriving on time, we were told our table was not ready and ended up having to wait outside for 40 minutes until we were finally seated. 2. Our server was extremely inattentive to the point of us having to wave him down to get another round of drinks. All empty glassware was left on the table when the second round was brought out. We wanted to order dessert, however after spending 20 minutes trying to flag someone down no one came and we ended up getting the bills. 3. We were a party of 9 so when the bills came there was a 20% auto-gratuity applied. As a server myself, I understand this is policy, however, we were never informed prior to payment which is quite disappointing considering service was so poor. 4. After bringing up our concern with the (lovely) server assistant who took our payment, it took over 10 minutes for any other staff to come speak with us. 5. The manager offered a free dessert, however, our Ubers were waiting and considering the distasteful experience we asked if there was any alternative solution, in which the answer was no. Again, I understand the industry is tough and I can empathize it can get busy on a weekend night, but the way in which everything was handled is ultimately what led me to write this.

We were there on a busy Saturday night and Brandons service was exemplary. We eat in our hood a lot so nothing comes as surprising but Brandon somehow is able to give me that sense of personalized or private dining. You know how as spoiled first world spenders, you want to be treated as unique special or VIP with genuine and authentic service? You want to feel that you are just not one of the many in the crowd? You think I am exaggerating? No, I am not. You should talk to the people that work for me or work with me lol. Praises from me are as rare as the albino grizzly bear. Brandon made recommendations which were spot-on and simply turned our simple evening in the hood into a private dining experience. On top of that, the chicken portion was generous, the steak was better than usual, and the dessert was just the right portions. You have eaten out, dined out, taken out, been surprised, amazed, disappointed, outraged, and devastated by your food experience - you have seen it all coz you are a Vancouverite. You do food. Its what you do, its what we do. This was a simply superb and sublime A+ experience. 95/100. And I am not giving it 100 only for the purpose of honoring you can always improve principle. This evenings experience, thanks to Brandon, has vaulted this Earls location into the next level. Now I am getting my hopes up next time I step into a Cactus or Earls or Milestones or Beach House.

Had a lovely Sunday date with my fiance here. Every detail of our evening was perfect thanks to all staff and especially our server Alicia. She was super friendly and knowledgable. Excellent location with beautiful views of the ocean. Food is high quality and what I would expect from Earls. Professional, fun and friendly staff makes this a welcoming and warm environment. The only downside is parking is difficult to find in the area.

Nice location, nice staff, but the staff was not attentive at times. The waiter needed reminding to bring items after a long wait, and the steak was overcooked. It was medium instead of blue, and it was unclear if the waiter understood the difference.

Amazing place, ambience, absolutely great food ! We were lucky with a very nice and friendly server named Elsa. She was so helpful with our kids, and suggested the best dishes in my opinion ! Could definitely recommend this place for anyone who wants to try something different at the heart of Ambleside, in West Vancouver.

There is this bar guy called Pablo, he is truly the best server ánd bar tender Ive had in many years. Very distinguished man!

Worst working environment I ve ever been on. Employers & coworkers show no respect, care and not even a slight proof of appreciation for your work. They expect you to know everything, and there were always ego disputes in the kitchen as who was right instead of helping each other out. The pace they work at is exploiting & we didn t even get a chance to get our break, as they told us we should not leave the station when it was busy which was all the time they re open. Would recommend this if it s your last resource of income, but just for reference everyone there was pretty new meaning they don t have employee retention. Trust me, nothing there is even fresh. Everything is canned or preprocessed

This was a disappointing visit for a group of four. Food was served cold. Two people shared an entree which was brought out on two plates as requested, but the single piece of garlic bread was literally ripped in half, not cut with a knife. Part of an order was missed entirely and brought out late. There were other small missteps by the wait staff such as bringing one single sugar packet when two people ordered coffee with cream and sugar. One guest requested sriracha sauce and we all had a good chuckle when it was finally brought out after the meal was finished and the plates cleared. Waitress was quite friendly and helpful and did her best. Her attitude and personality was probably the best aspect of our visit but wasnt quite enough to salvage the errors of others.

Can t go wrong with a visit here, friendly staff, decent food and free parking around the neighbourhood. Happy hour 2-5pm, plenty of choices on food & drinks.

Came here for late lunch on September 4th and haven t stopped thinking about it since! So I m here to write my review that I will be back :) Came here with my partner and had the best time. Food wasn t the best I ever had, but it was delicious and hit the spot. The server we had though was the best part! She was lively and lovely, took great care of us and it was nice to see a server being so happy, that s very rare to see. So if you happen to be dining in here, definitely ask to be served by Janice!

We went to earls west Vancouver today and had an amazing experience dining there, The food as always was amazing and our server was very friendly and welcoming. Went to Earls Ambleside on Thursday and had Steven as our server. The atmosphere was absolutely beautiful and the food was amazing. I remember like 15 years ago they honestly had better food. I still miss the Californian pizza. However it was pretty decent. I wouldnt say great. Had an August 3rd reservation, the hosts were awful. The Filipino girl with the tablet I told had a reservation unbelievable I stood there like I didn t exist, as she walked away & stood where she went looking at the tablet doing nothing next the guy behind the desk seated 2 others who walked in without reservations, barged in front of us & were seated as we were left standing there as if we didn t exist. I spent over $200 for dinner & was most insulted. There is no structure to receive guests in the order in which they arrive . I have been to the restaurant b4 & the hosts were polite & well trained

Love the brunch Happy Hour (discounted food prior to 11am)! Eggs bennie were beautifully prepared, served on a piece of sourdough, accompanied by both a delish mixed green salad and a layered potato side (bit greasy but very tasty). Beautiful space, excellent service. Tasty Caesar too!

I recently dined in at Earls ambleside and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory due to the poor customer service. I leave in building that Earls is, Grosvener Building. From welcoming I got bad attitude from the host, I have VIP card as well but she was like nervous person. ALSO, When placing our order, the waitress seemed confused, which led to a mistake in what we received. When I pointed out the error, she refused to accept that it was a misunderstanding and instead insisted that we ordered what she brought us. To make matters worse, we were charged more than we should have been for the incorrect items. I hope management addresses these issues to prevent future customers from having a similarly disappointing experience.

My parents went there for a midweek happy hour and absolutely loved it. The service was amazing. Mina was their server and she was excellent. The dessert was delicious

Sometime in early August 2024 we had a late dinner. I arrived wearing a hat & sunglasses. Having left late & dark at 10pm, we went for walk along the pier, set down my hat & glasses to take a photo of Lionsgate Bridge. We then left to return to our vehicle. But then realized I didn t have my hat & sunglasses! Back at the restaurant now, staff outside & inside were looking everywhere for them! We eventually retraced our steps & found my hat & glasses! Back at the restaurant all staff were searching still so happily reported our items found. All staff members & Hudson were amazing in searching the premises so a huge accolade & appreciation for all staff members at this location involved in my silly upset!

I recently went to the ambleside location with my family and had a great experience. I was very impressed by our server Mina who was one of the best servers I ve had in this location, she greeted us right away and helped us with ordering and checked on us regularly and was very polite and friendly. will definitely come back!

We had an early dinner on Saturday evening. Our server was Laura Merrin and she did a fantastic job. She was knowledgeable with regard to the menu items and the suggestions she made were delicious. We come here often! Love the fantastic patio, the food, and service. I didn t think to take pictures, but felt compelled to leave a five star review after our recent experience. It was steak & wine Wednesday and our server, Brandon remembered us and even remembered how we liked our steak frites!It s always delicious, but it was especially perfect on this night with extra hot, crispy fries, delicious tender steak and a half price bottle of the Decoy Cab. It was a perfect, romantic evening with my husband. Brandon was there when we needed him and left us alone when we didn t. Then Leo, one of the managers came by to see how our dining experience had been. I told him both food and service had been exceptional. He asked us as frequent customers, if he could treat us to dessert which we gratefully excepted. I had this slice of cheesecake that was absolute heaven. It came with the perfect amount of fresh ripe strawberries, perfectly whipped cream and a beautiful coulis that was not too sweet. The perfect amount of everything. I was euphoric! So in my food coma, I asked to please meet the chef and his team. Mohab is their head chef and mastermind behind this well-run team. Brij is his second in command and he is a humble genius. He made sure to tell me that it was his team that is the superstar. I met Kaya, who made that amazing cheesecake dessert. She was also very gracious. A big shout out to all the kitchen team and service team at this location. You guys are top-notch and definitely worth a five star review. Wheelchair accessibility: They have handicap parking on the street and in the underground parking. The restaurant is all ground level and the patio doors are wheelchair accessible.

Was the last place in the area, that served food after 9pm. Didn t expect much, drive there and were absolutely flashed of the cool Ambiente and the nice food we got. Happy hour was an unexpected cherry on top.

For the price you pay, the food is really mediocre. My wife ordered a burger and maybe the meat from McDonalds would be better. It s really embarrassing. I don t know why the restaurant is always so packed. They have even the audacity to ask 18% as starting option for tips.

I love their patio in hot summertimes where you sip on your cocktail while getting a nice breath of ocean air. A good people watching spot for summer wekkends!

I was drinking my beer at the bar while waiting for my lunch when a Canadian-born guy in his 40s arrived and started a conversation with me with this opening line: What kind of brown are you? I was shocked and told him, This is racist. He tried to explain that he was trying to make a friend, but it was shocking for me after being in Canada/Toronto for 22 years and never hearing something like this. The bartenders who overheard the conversation were very supportive and apologized once the guy left. The restaurant should stop providing service to people like him.

Busy day but I had a wonderful time at Earls! Sina really made the experience special. On a hot sunny day, he recommended an excellent bottle of wine that paired perfectly with the meal. The food was delicious, and Sina s service was outstanding. Aria also ensured everything went smoothly. I ll definitely be asking for him next time!

Nice room and tasty vegetarian options, but service was a little hit and miss. Server was nice but not very present and the hosts were cold and unresponsive. Great for family friendly dining though!

This was a great spot to enjoy happy hour after a short round at the Ambleside pitch and putt! This Earls had amazing vibes with the main dining space opening up to their patio and a view of the ocean! The red sangria was delicious, too. It felt like we were on vacation in Europe! We plan to come back again soon!

Good food and good location!

Overall, I do enjoy it here on the patio. Service is always on point and the food is solid. My main critique would be how signicantly some of the prices have gone up recently. Ill still come back for the patio and great service, but just less often as Id like to now.

Very unpersonal when the waiter only asked half the table for replacement drinks and I have to call him back , only for him to come back over to the table and stand there and punch in on his tablet my 2nd beer order without saying anything then leave to go get it???. Couldnt he have said Ill get that for you now and punch in the order on the tablet off to the side. Not a professional manner for him to reorder a beer the way he did.

All the staff were beyond amazing. They did a fantastic job and was easily the best service we have ever received.

We went to Earls Restaurant in West Vancouver with eight of our friends to hang out after a few months, and we had an amazing experience. We ordered the barbecue ribs and Caesar salad, and both were perfect. I especially loved the BBQ ribs; they were juicy and well-cooked. The service was also excellent, and we had a great time with our friends. For a huge BBQ Rib and a big Caesar Salad and nothing for drink we paid $85 and you don t need to pay tip because 18% will be added to your bill automatically . After all, Highly recommend! The setting of this restaurant by ambleside park is fantastic but it s the least impressive Earl s I ve been to so far. Service is so so. Maybe if you are a regular and they know you and know ahead of time how you are likely to tip. I would not to go so far to say, don t try but I would prefer other Earl s locations if I am getting the same food.

Earls is very consistent across all of their locations. The best part about Earls at Ambleside is that you can see the water while you eat. I ordered the fish and chips. I got a nice large piece of fish. It tasted nice and the fries were also good. Only thing holding this back from a 5 star is the pricing/value. Obviously everything today is expensive and there is not much that can be done about this but it still would be nice to get more value.

I ordered a medium steak that came so well done that it was like shoe leather. I had the option to return it, have a new steak cooked properly, and end up eating alone because everyone else would be finished or eat it as it was. The server, Brandon, was amazing (I didnt tell him about the steak until later).

I am BAFFLED by this experience I had today at earls, as a proud Earls Worker myself, I experienced terrible service by the Earls Ambleside team on June 19th 2024. My party was told a 1 hour wait which we were keen on waiting for even though it was quite long. We came back after an hour to check in and the hostess with the pink blazer said hopefully 30 mins, we are waiting for this large table to leave then we can seat you. We followed up again and still she said another 30 mins. Our table ends up getting seated by another host after waiting 2.5 hours and the same hostess comes up to us to remind us about their 18% automatic gratuity after SPLITTING our table in half. (Note so many tables were opening up on the piato already.) Food wasn t cooked the greatest while also the bartender was throwing out trash and carrying it in the middle of the dining room. Disgusting restaurant, not coming back.

We came in late night for a quick bite and were sat at the bar. I came here to write this review before I left just to mention how genuinely impressive the service was. We had a young girl serve us, who was so kind and warm and just down right good at her job. I ordered the chicken kung pao, a martini and a desert, which were all so fresh and crisp. Over all, I must say tonight at earls was such a good experience, I would 11/10 come back especially if I got to have service from our bartender. Fernanda was her name I think! So fun! Thanks Earls!

Absolutely Horrendous Service Greeted 25 minutes after being seated along with having waved down multiple people asking to be served ( our menus closed, stacked to the side of the table w water glasses empty ) Continuously asked for water from the beginning of service, was brought a pitcher at the end of dinner Server apologized for not greeting us by saying we re busy Server popped in at the end to say Anything else and brought the bill after another 20 minutes. Nothing was quality checked, essentially we had 2 conversations. We re busy and here s the bill. Reservation was at 5:30pm May 5th Sunday

Whenever I ve been to your Ambleside location as a dinner guest with other people, I ve been served well. Sitting at the bar, as a single woman has been mostly awful. The other day one of your staff members sat down at the bar abruptly - causing a glass to smash into another glass right beside me. It was loud and scary and glass smashed all over me I couldn t move as members of your team picked glass shards off my body. I moved from the bar to a table to allow your staff to clean the area thoroughly. Nobody brought me my water or beer I had just ordered and had none of because of the glass incident. I sat patiently and waited. Someone finally brought me my drinks, but I was shocked to watch that they had not actually replaced the beverages where the glass had just smashed. I asked to please be served new beverages bc I didn t trust there wasn t glass in them. When I asked this, all of a sudden the bar tender told me they would no longer serve me. I was very upset. The whole ordeal was extremely traumatizing. Nobody came to check to see if I was alright after moving seats, and the fact that I was served my same beverages without any second thought and then told I wouldn t be served anymore when I explained I d like new beverages is appalling. The fact that half your staff sits at the bar after their shift, chatting with whoever is on shift honestly is uncomfortable. With the exception of a few individuals, those on shift also have a habit of hanging around together instead of offering excellent or friendly service to your patrons. Your bar is not a friendly or welcoming environment. It s extremely disappointing because I have always enjoyed coming for meals with family I ll never go to another Earls.

The most expensive fish and chips Ive ever had, but it was good at least.

Usually great experience however my friend and I got food poisoning from the seafood platter and the manager had no solution. Not even a refund. Super disappointed as this used to be my favourite place to eat.

I m happy to give Earls Ambleside 5 stars, thanks to the remarkable improvement in service! Despite arriving at peak hour on Mother s Day, coinciding with a game night, the hostess manager was impressively in control, and we were seated promptly. Our waiter, Sam, elevated our experience even further. He was friendly yet professional, offered great suggestions, took our orders promptly, and always made sure we had everything we needed with a smile and eye contact. Our food arrived on time, and drinks were refilled before we even had to ask. It felt like we had a private server on such a busy night. Other tables he served seemed to receive the same stellar service. A great server can truly transform a dining experience, and Sam did just that. The food, as always, met their high standards. Consistency in both food and service when eating at Earl s is key to their success. Party of four and we had crab cakes, steak and fries, fish and chips, poke bowl for dinner and shared a key lime tart for dessert. All were good.

Great location, amazing kale+mushroom pizza. Caesar is fantastic sometimes (last time was below average), Waiters are supper nice but sometimes they are quite distracted and you need to confirm your order or wait longer to get some stuff.

Stopped for some cold drinks and a marg. pizza on the sunny patio. Server, Soph, was excellent: anticipating the style of service her guests might prefer, including me, a solo reader, who was happy for rare but well-timed and very pleasant interactions.

I recently had dinner at Earls Ambleside for the first time and Im sorry to say it will also be the last. Great service unfortunately cant make up for awful food--Im there to eat, fam!! The servers were truly awesome--real characters--but, man, the food. Genuinely terrible. After my mango coconut whatever cocktail turned happy hour to SAD hour, with its poor, wilted mint leaf (why even put that in there??), I had overcooked salmon pickled in sea salt, with Uncle Bens instant jasmine rice and microwaved seasonable vegetables. In an effort to avoid having a stroke due to the sodium overdose, the kitchens *take two* on my salmon was plain, still overcooked salmon, with pepper on the side. This place is always packed, and I expect its because of the fantastic location and perhaps diners get too boozed up to care how bad the food is, but at over $100 for two meals and a couple of drinks at happy hour prices, its so not worth it.

I loved every detail of this restaurant, as soon as I entered a beautiful lady asked me if I preferred sitting in or out, she dressed formally and and acted professionally and she asked me to sit in the waiting area to find me a table outside and after 5 minuets another polite staff asked me to follow him up to my table ,and then a really nice and professional lady (Mina) asked me whether I wanted to drink or not and finally I got my amazing burger which was served in a nice tray with fries , can t remember name of it but at lease I can say that there was 3 different burgers that one of those was the basic one and one of them was the IMPOSSIBLE BURGER which was vegan and I got the third one that has bacon in it , burger was so nice and fresh the taste was so good and burger was juicy enough, I had cheese cake with whipped cream and salted caramel with latte as a dessert that was so good too although coffee could be hotter btw highly recommended Vegetarian options: Impossible burger was the vegetarian burger there and it was one of the vegetarian options there

Tried Earls out again after getting a rock in my potatoes at a different location. This time our food took 45 minutes to come out and my pulled chicken sandwich was just a big piece of flavorless boiled chicken breast. Fries were also stale. At least the manager was nice enough to make the food free because of the delay.
