I understand that many restaurant people criticize me for not giving out higher ratings. However, I believe that a 3-star rating is an excellent one. For me, it’s all about the product as described. The food was delicious, considering we only ordered two dishes. The price was very reasonable. The restaurant was also clean. However, I must mention that finding parking spaces can be a challenge. If you are in west Vancouver and looking for a quick bite, I recommend the spicy cumin noodles.
Lao Cai Chinese Cuisine is an exceptional choice for those seeking a truly authentic Chinese dining experience. Their hand-made dumplings and noodles are a real highlight, crafted with such care that you can immediately taste the difference. The freshness and texture of the pasta and dumplings are second to none. Also, I learned from the staff that they source their spices directly from China to ensure the food preserves its traditional flavors. So, if you're looking for authentic Chinese cuisine, particularly hand-made dumplings and noodles with genuine flavors, Lao Cai is a must-visit. Highly recommended! :D
Vancouver offers plenty of East Asian dining options, but this restaurant is truly something special. With parking available, it's easily accessible for those living in West Vancouver, North Vancouver, and downtown. The moment I walked in, the decor and cozy atmosphere made me feel as if I had been transported straight to China. The food is authentically prepared, a refreshing change from the typical "NYC Chinese food" you might be used to. Our server was polite and took the time to explain each dish, the menu options, and even shared stories about the regions near Tibet where they source their unique spices. The handmade pasta was thick and flavorful—nothing like the ones you'd find in a supermarket. One of my favorite dishes was the "bread with shredded pork" (see the pic). Sorry for not remembering the exact name, but it was absolutely delicious! Even the washrooms were clean, which is always a plus in my book. My only complaint is that it's a bit far from Richmond (the Asian hub in vancouver metropolitan region). However, I heard they're planning to open a new location there soon, which is great news.
One of the best Chinese restaurants in Vancouver! We had a variety of dishes and the quality of the food was very high. My favorite dish was the dumplings which they make everyday from scratch and the hot-oil noodles! The cucumber salad and the sweet and sour pork ribs also delish. Truly one of the best dinning experiences, hard to pick just one dish :)
Heard great reviews about this place so checked it out. The place was nice and clean and the service was so so friendly and they truly cared about their customers. Highly recommend their dumplings and if you love them as much as we did, you can buy some frozen ones as well (what we ended up doing). Their noodles were nice and chewy. Will definitely go back again.
My partner and I LOVE coming here, any time we are visiting or driving through West Vancouver we make sure to stop. The noodles and dumplings are housemade and taste so fresh and delicious.
This place blew my mind. It is insanely good! I'm pescatarian so my options were very limited but their veggie options were solid. I tried the veggie dumplings and the spicy and oily hand cut noodles....everything was an ace! Can't wait to go back!
very authentic Chinese cousins from northern China. We loved the noodles and dumplings. People are nice and welcoming. For sure will come back again with friends and family.
Lao Cai Chinese Cuisine is a hidden gem! The prices are super reasonable, and the portion sizes are generous you definitely get your money s worth. The food came out so quickly, which was perfect for my busy schedule. Everything we tried was delicious and fresh. The staff were friendly and efficient, making the whole experience even better. If youre looking for great Chinese food without breaking the bank, this is the spot! Highly recommend!
Great food and very warm and friendly service! Always love going back
We got the lamb hot pot, shirmp&pork dumpling, and sour&spicy soup noodle. Everything is so good Even their sauce selection is perfect! Unforgettable!
Lao Cai s Liangpi is the most authentic!
Don t know what to say, didn t like the food, the manager gave me a why are u here vibe, the decor was depressing. Maybe this place is really authentic, so don t look at this review, it was too authentic for us, even their attitude was authentic ;). The dumplings were too thick, the noodle soups lack flavor.
Went for lunch and got the pork burgers (one per person), the shrimp dumplings (so good!), scallion noodles, and boba. We were thinking of taking some leftover noodles home, but they were so good we finished them all. Also the tea they served was very nice. Not the usual house tea. Tasted like a peach oolong. Well definitely be going back.
Authentic Chinese food that suits the Japanese palate. Perhaps I had arrived at the store at the right time, but there was a huge line after I entered. We recommend making reservations in advance.
They need to work on their service. Slamming dishes and menus on the table. Serving chipped glasses. Delayed service, even the 2 customers behind us were served a head of us. Constantly, waving them down for service. Like for some water and tea. Omg we ask for tea. We got tea and no cup, then the server ran away. Now, the food was ok, nothing that I would crave for. Overall, bad experience. But, did liked how they were repeatly cleaning the tables for the next customers.
I had Spicy Hot-Oil Noodle and dumpings. The noodle was authentic so tasty! I love Spicy-oil Biangbiang noodles! Also, service was friendly and price is good. Id love to come again soon
Amazing food, excellent service.
Food is great, environment is great, service is great, everything is great! Kid-friendliness: Kids and family friendly Food : 5/5 |
Shaanxi people are really good at making pasta! Must order Cumin Lamb Noodles This is a blind spot in the category of hand-pulled noodles and mixed noodles. How many people have to order depending on how many people are eating! ! ! ! ! So delicious, the noodles are kneaded so well. Soft, strong and springy. Noodles with tomato, egg and oil Its delicious, made by the elders who are the best cooks in the family. Leek and Shrimp Dumplings, Boiled or Vegetarian Filling, Boiled First of all, the skin is definitely Num 1, the filling is very juicy and full of flavor, and the shrimp is used well. We usually order sour radish and duck soup, which is a domestic taste. Brother Mao s soup base haha. The cold skin is a little bit hard. In the afternoon, there were two particularly handsome young foreign waiters who could communicate with you in very standard Mandarin with Chinese accents. For the first time, you were stunned. Just because of this accent and cumin mutton noodles, you must try it!
Wow the food here is out of this world. If you like noodles youre gonna love this place. I ordered on Ubereats and it was delicious. The last time I had authentic Chinese food was in Nigeria! I ordered the spicy hot oil noodle with beef, tomato and egg sauce, the noodles were chewy and bouncy, the beef so juicy and tender, the bean sprouts were soft and crunchy and the bok Choy went perfectly with the noodles!!! I also ordered the onion and beef boiled dumplings and the juices/broth bursts into your mouth with every bite. Finally, I tried their dirty tea and surprisingly it was sooooo sweet and delicious, definitely beats regular bubble tea from Chattime. All the dishes were 10/10 and I would highly recommend trying the food. Cant wait to try other menu items.
Great food and service.
Northerners certified delicious
Are you feeding the birds ? The chopsticks didnt move.
Wonderful and authentic flavors, great selection of regional favorites. Excellent choice for both a cultural and culinary experience!
Wonderful staff and delicious food! Everything is made in-house and highly recommend the pan-fried dumplings as they were super juicy and crisped to perfection! Noodles were also amazing!!
I was visiting Xi An 2 months ago and can tell you this is authentic Xi An food. And its delicious! The Liang Pi is a must try Vegetarian options: Theres a cold tofu dish with a preserved 100 yr old egg
First time here and I had an awesome experience. Staff is friendly and helpful, food is delicious. I can t wait to come back and try more!
Tastes good
Great chinese place with the best dumplings and the friendliest staff!! They gave us chinese donuts on the house because they accidentally gave our noodles to the wrong table. So sweet~ My favorite thing was the boiled shrimp pork chive dumplings
The service was really bad, the menu was thrown in front of us, we hesitated a little while ordering, and our attitude was very disdainful. They also treated us differently from the Westerners at the table next door. You really are not the only restaurant in Vancouver. I can understand if I am too busy, but I really cant understand if the service attitude is poor and people are treated differently.
You can get your food very quickly, thats pretty awesome especially when you are super hungry, size is big, taste is OK
Great noodles! Duck soap with pickle radish is surprisingly tasty! Kid-friendliness: My kids love their pork and noodles. Food : 5/5 |
This beats even some of the food inside mainland China, with fresh ingredients and extremely traditional cooking, highly recommended to visit. Pricing is extremely fair considering the atmosphere and service
Lao Cai Chinese Cuisine is fantastic! The food is delicious and authentic ( I tried Chicken and noodles), the staff are friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere is cozy and inviting. A perfect dining experience. highly recommend! Food
One of the best meals I have eaten in Vancouver. The food here makes me sad, because I live too far away to eat it every day.
Xian flavor
Great Chinese food at a nice location with accessible (FREE!) street parking nearby. Servers were very considerate and welcoming. I tried a lot on the menu, and every single dish was good; Liang Pi was exactly what I expected it to be. The fern noodle appetizer was also nice. My favourites would have to be the spicy lamb cumin noodles and the duck hotpot.
Great place to dine
Ordered takeout regularly for years, still delicious :-)
Food & environment is decent, fairly busy on a weekday lunch, one downside is you hear the chef in the kitchen loud and clear from the moment entering the restaurant until leaving the premises
Authentic Chinese food, reasonable prices, and price-matching service. Today we specially drove here to have a meal to support Lao Cai Restaurant. We hope that they will not be affected by the recent turmoil and stick to their own ideas to serve the community.
My girlfriend and I stopped here for dinner last night and we couldn t be more pleased. The staff were friendly and cheerful and the atmosphere cozy! We shared several dishes we had never tried before and were blown away! Great way to end a great day! We will definitely be making a habit of returning to Lao Cai whenever we are in town!
Surprisingly realty good. The dumplings and the lamb
Love this Gem in West Van. Authentic taste. In love with they beef noodles
I just had a stew beef noodles. The beef had a very strong gamey and weird taste. The broth was NO flavor. There were two servers. The male one is good. The female one is not pleasant at all. Her service below average worst than food court. I paid and gave her tips. No thank you. I ll not recommended to anyone. I don t know how they got 4.4 ?
I might be wrong because Im not a Chinese, but it felt like an authentic upscale Chinese cusine (not a fancy restaurant, but the quality of food was upscale). All the foods were incredible. I ordered four dishes for 3 because Ive been unsuccessful with some of my orders at somewhere new. Guess what, this time - ALL FOUR were fantastic!!
Delicious, authentic, rare to have someone who cooks seriously and doesn t fool around
Food is nothing special, edible. Service was painfully slow.
I usually come here with my friends, and the servers are always friendly, especially when they discover that you can speak Chinese! The variety of dishes is pretty decent, and, from what I ve ordered, they taste pretty decent too.
Have tried this place several times, both for take out and dine in. The noodles don t do well for take out, but they re pretty good for dine in. I really enjoyed the dumplings especially - I don t think there is a better option for them on the north shore.
Cold noodles is my favourite. Best Chinese in North shore
Some of the best Chinese Ive had in Vancouver. Servers were excellent and made great recommendations.
Food is good, but the teenage server should be fired. Completely horrible service, very disrespectful and assumes the worst out of any customer. He wants to believe in his own subjective reality and it is disgusting and pathetic. The rating can improve, when this horrible person is removed from the establishment.
This is white people bro, customers are not the first priority he said after we asked him to clean off the bird pop on the table that was covered by the menu but was ignored for 10 minutes. RACISM ALERT
Bad service
sb The waiter ate garbage from the food and ran away without leaving a tip b.
The foreign students in the basket are still out of breath, so they know how to post online and underline their typing. They are good at literature and martial arts. I will give you a solar lighter to give you a weak light. I will have to spend a lot in the future to support Lao Cai. Very good porcelain !
When we came to dine, we were assigned a table. When we sat down to read the menu, the waiter found that the table had not been wiped and there were oil stains. Then the guests at the next table moved the table until it was close to our table. During this period, there was no polite inquiry. The waiters ignored the guests when they saw them moving tables and chairs by themselves and doing inappropriate things in public places. I explained my unpleasant experience to the waiter and asked to change tables. During the process, several waiters did not say anything about it. They did not stop or remind the guests on the other table of their continued behavior, and they did not apologize for my unpleasant experience. Finally left without eating anything. A very uncomfortable store experience.
Amending my earlier review below. I wasnt impressed this time. Takeout - the noodles were stuck together and the cumin lamb was more like a meat sauce over everything. Got bored eating it and Im not fond of gristle in my meat. Will not be going back, although maybe other items are better and of course takeout is never as good as in store. Waste of $20.00. The food is not like usual chinese cuisine in vancouver. Its nothern China and I was pleasantly surprised. Very good!! Went twice and will go back again. The ambiance of the place is a little rustic and not charming but very clean. Thats why 4 not 5 stars.
Good authentic Chinese food.
Delicious food, friendly service, easy to find location, convenient parking
There mid week lunch, 3/4 full about 10 tables, service a little slow, pleasant, ordered ripped noodles with pork for 2 $24.99. Amazing flavours but would have liked more noodles and broth
Everything is delicious and service is great
No more Duck Noodle Soup. They stop serving this yummy dish.
Amazing noodles and dumplings. The signature dry noodles with lamb and cumin are simply amazing. Great atmosphere too, definetly worth the wait. Suggest to book before coming to avoid the wait. They also do take out. We ordered lunch at 3pm and was very fast.
Tastes good. Come here often.
The roujiamo and mutton soup taste very good and are very authentic northwest dishes. Although there was a little hiccup along the way, the stores service attitude was excellent. Will visit again in the future.
Great authentic Chinese food. Im from China and this is best Xian food I had in Vancouver.
Above all, you get a very, very good feeling dining at this restaurant. The servers were smiling and helpful in answering questions about the menu. The table settings and decor are attractive and comfortable. The dishes - we had spicy cumin lamb noodle (!!), sour and spicy hand-ripped noodle with soup, and house-made pan-fried dumplings ) - are unique and delicious, and the prices are absolutely reasonable. This was our second visit, and we plan to return again and again to try everything.
Food was amazing! Would definitely come back. Dumplings were so good, my beef hot pot, and the noodles were so good!
I prefer this cozy bistro-style restaurant, especially with the warm-toned lighting. Basically, the food in this restaurant is quite delicious, and it s not too bad! In addition, the waiters are all warm and friendly, which is relatively rare in Chinese restaurants! Because the experience is very good, I will come here from time to time. recommend!
One of the best Chinese restaurants I ever try in Vancouver
If you crave an authentic taste of Xian, this restaurant is an absolute gem worthy of five stars.
We almost never eat Chinese food but we came here wanting to try the dumplings. This is not what most would call Chinese food . It is Soo much better! This is real home cooking, with hot pots, dumplings and a lot more. Everything was so delicious. Vegetarian options: you just have to ask and they will explain everything you can have with out meat.
It is a cute little restaurant. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Food is ok. However, it is quite pricey. The portion of your food is way too little.
Incredible Chinese hot pot and pot stickers. Lot of house made baked goods and pot stickers. Definitely a top place on the North shore for Chinese. Service is well intentioned but a bit inattentive..
Wonderful spot for excellent Xian cuisine. Dumplings were fantastic! And the soup was really good too. If you like Chinese food and looking to try a cuisine from a different region of China, this is a great place to explore.
Cold noodle is the must order , so authentic!
The food taste good. We ordered a beef noodle, chicken rice and dumplings All of them are good! Recommended dishes Stewed Beef Noodle Soup
I like the sauced elbow the most, it is moderately fat and lean, moderately soft, and paired with the soul sauce, it tastes great . The old duck soup hot pot was so good that I almost drank up the soup. The sour soup wontons, roujiamo and milk tea all taste good, and the production is of a high standard. I will try other dishes again.
Tasty lamb hot pot and stewed pork burger, was gonna try cold noodles but sold out, would be an again and highly recommended! Also was there in Sunday night with no reservation, took 15 mins wait to sit down. Full house with only two servers, but they re efficient and Recommended dishes
Fantastic food and great service. Prices are very reasonable too. One of my favorite restaurants on the North Shore.
One of the best xi an restaurants I ve had in Vancouver. Noodles and dumplings are freshly made. One should also try that pickled radish as well. The seating environment can be improved but food is excellent
Best noodles ever. The bite is just right. The duck soup is to die for. Their little side dishes are perfectly seasoned. The only minus is the harsh lemon cleaning spray they use on the tables. I dont think they know there are unscented cleaning products that do the job just as well.
Stumbled upon this place while stuck in major traffic going over the lion s gate. Service was absolutely excellent and the food was amazing too. We were pleasantly surprised to learn this was Northern Chinese food from Shaanxi. We ve been going to a place out in Kingsway for Xi an food for a while so it s nice to know this place is here and closer.
Excellent lunch - we enjoyed the homemade cumin lamb and noodle dish, the duck dumpling soup and the pan fried dumplings!
Lamb soup was great.
My second time here. Loves the food, the service, and the interior of this restaurant
Great food, might have to wait awhile for seats but worth it.
It s delicious as always. I ll warm myself up with the old duck soup after skiing. Recommended!
The soup with duck meat was so smelly and we didn t like the tastes very much. The positive point was that the waiters were so polite and friendly.
I saw this place recently last month and I reminded myself we have to dine here. Heres my review : omgggg sooo good!!! My partner has never ever tried wood ear mushrooms and he fell in love with them because of how they were cooked and how it was flavored. The dumplings is the best I ever tried in my entire eating dumpling life! These dumplings were soup filled , steamed and partially pan fried..and plumped up in perfection. Ive never tried this type of Chinese cuisine before as it sits in a different region in China. The tea they serve is also very special its flavor has hints of floral with a sweet smooth light taste. Noodles and Dumplings are handmade inside the restaurant. The decor reminded me of a little house that would be situated on top of a mountain top surrounded by trees and people would need a secret password to enter the area.
Super delicious Chinese food! The service was great as well!
Lao Cais Liangpi and Roujiamo are always so delicious The side dishes are also very delicious
Food was great, staff friendly but rushed off their feet.
A small unassuming restaurant with great food! We had pork bun, soup noodles, and dumplings and they were all good! My hubby tried their individual hot pot with his friends and said was good, too. Highly recommended!
The employees are open-minded and kind The dumplings, appetizers, and noodles, they are all perfect which makes this my favourite restaurant ever Food
Delicious & clean
I really like it. I want to go there. There is a waiter at his house, who may be a relative of the boss. He is so handsome.
Amazing service and hospitality with delicious food. Tried the Liang-Pi hand stretched noodles which happen to be naturally plant based.
Hand cut noodles. Amazing.
What a beautiful little restaurant
Amazing, wontons and dumplings. I have traveled all around the world and very familiar with Chinese food and I would say this was my best dumpling experience, hands-down. Duck wonton soup, spicy oil noodles (not that spicy), pan fried shrimp dumplings. Great price and value. Worth the drive from Richmond BC
Absolutely delicious. One of the best restaurants in West Vancouver.
Kid-friendliness: Really good and authentic xi an food. Ambiance is nice, great customer service and the food was amazing. Had the shredded pork ear, beef noodle soup, Liang pi and another spicy noodle dish.i ordered some drinks and they were delicious too. Would definitely be my go to spot when I return to Vancouver. Wish them all the best business.
Phenomenal gem of a Chinese restaurant. Had a hankering for Chinese and just by accident found parking directly in front. Auspicious start to a wonderful lunch. Ordered the cold noodles, sliced pig ears, curried lamb and noodles, and two kinds of dumplings. My mum is still raving about the crunch of the sliced pig ears, which were very tasty on a hot day. Then we noticed some pancakes being served for take out and asked about them. The waitress brought us one to try (no charge) and again we loved it so ordered a set to take home with us to accompany evening wine. The pickled green beans that came with the pancake made it. Everything was filled with flavour, and the noodles and dumplings were top notch. Definitely will be back and definitely recommend the place .
The best chive dumplings ever!
The noodles and dumplings were okay, but service seemed a little scattered. They were able to accommodate a reservation of 7, but food came out slow and they ran out of the honey twists donuts of which we ordered two. Thats fine, but it wasnt taken off our bill and I didnt notice until after we left. So we ended up paying for two orders we never received.
All dishes are very delicious and so nice to experience those Chinese authentic food. The staff were so nice, too!
Best homemade noodles! Texture and flavour was incredible! I highly recommend for everyone!! I will be back with some friends :))
Some of the best Chinese food I ve ever had! Wonderful service too!
Not so good! Not genuine Xi an food.
OK... this hidden gem is unbelievable!! Their Strawberry shlush is the kind of drink you ordered in and 10 minutes before you leave you order one for the road! The herb beef and shrimp dumplings are Amazing! Their chicken and Chilli noodles to die for. Everything in this joint is crazy good and the staff are top notch!! 5 1/2 stars out of 5. Everytime I hit the West end the LCCC is where I end up... standing applause!!
The service is excellent and they consistently deliver dishes made with the freshest ingredients. It has become our regular spot for indulging in authentic Xian cuisine. When dining there, we highly recommend trying their signature Xian cold noodles, which boast a delightful combination of flavors and textures. Additionally, their plum-flavored spare ribs are an absolute must-order, showcasing a tantalizing blend of sweet and savory notes that will leave your taste buds craving for more.
Fantastic! Everything we ordered was wonderful.
It tastes good, but the prices in BC are higher than in Ontario.
They have a slightly limited menus but everything was done very well. The food was flavorful!
Authentic and delicious. Don t miss out on the spicy cumin lamb noodles - delicious!
We ate well, in particular the tagliatelle with lamb were excellent. The pork ribs are good, with special sauce! The dumplings were good but they should have been pan-fried (grilled) a little better and the others drained of the water better. Friendly staff. The place and the bathrooms should be renovated because the food is worth it and the place could improve its level.
This was very delicious fresh home made authentic chinese cuisine with daily specials. We pondered the menu as there were many unique dishes to our experiences from the US east coast & NYC. We had pork burger, lamb & carrot dumplings sesame spinach pickled radish & duck soup broth these seemingly simple dishes were quite exceptional as was the very professional service. We are going back for their specialty hand pulled noodles & cant wait!
The sour and sweet hand pulled noodles are the best I ve ever!
They serve the most authentic southern Chinese cuisines in Vancouver. It is not localized like other restaurants. If you are Chinese the food will definitely bring back your old memories. And if you are not this place will give you the perfect Chinese food that you have never had.
Just incredible food, the dumplings are made with home made dough with great flavour and chew..the hand pulled noodles are delicious and have a wonderful texture. The lamb cumin noodle topping is to die for. Fantastic restaurant!
Delicious food and great service! It was very busy for only 2 servers, but the young guy s service was great. Food were delicious! We ll be coming back for sure
Have been here with the family and we were lucky to get a table on a Saturday, because there are a lot of reservations and many people have been waiting later in front of the restaurant to get a table. Why I am writing this, because it is really worth it. I never been to china but this food was great. Fresh noodles and wonton with tasty herbes and spicy ingredients. Also not too expensive. Main dishes between 17$ to 20$. Also the raw food with the cooker on the table looked good. Also to highly recommend are the slush drinks -> fresh and tasty!!! Service very welcoming and supportive! Well done and definitely try it! Cheers Marc
So yummy
I love that they have a small menu and some of the popular dishes come pictures so it was easier to pick. Foods were amazing, service was super friendly. Would come back and bring friends.
Absolutely amazing food, I cannot recommend enough!
Fantastic restaurant! The food was extremely delicious! Highly recommend the Spicy Lamb Cumin noodles, sweet & sour pork and shrimp, chive and pork dumplings!
Spicy Cumin Lamb Noodles and Dumplings are the best! The noodles are house made and amazing!
Food is delicious and authentic. Waitor is especially helpful. Will definitely come here again.
We love the veggie dumplings and the noodles! Go early to avoid the traditional mealtime rush.
The cumin lamb noodles are out of this world! I keep wanting to try something else on the menu, but I can t bring myself to not order the lamb noodles! The dumplings are also incredibly juicy and flavourful. This is probably my most frequented restaurant in Vancouver because the noodles keep getting me back.
Authentic Shaanxi flavor Liangpi and fern root powder are good The mutton soup tastes light and very healthy. The steamed buns were a little undercooked and the buns were not cooked thoroughly, but they were served with sugared garlic and chili sauce.
Amazing!!! Best soups, drinks, and rice bowls around. Took my family here multiple times, and we never left disappointed or hungry. Highly recommended Food
So delicious
The XiAn lamb soup used to be tasty with strong aromatic flavours. However, the soup I just ordered through DoorDash was a disappointment- flavourless, three pieces of lamb and that s it. The pork burger is Ok, but not as good as I expected.
Authentic Chinese and amazing taste
Very authentic northwest flavor, highly recommend the mutton steamed buns, the soup is very fresh
Very Friendly and kind staffs and the food is also amazing.
Food taste very good. We wanted to have Pho around the corner of Marine Drive, but ended up entered this restaurant. It s amazing!
There are some stupid waiters
Food was really authentic and presentations was nice. Service was good. Clean restaurant. Noodle was handmade and flavorful. Vegetarian options: Vegetarian noodle
Delicious and friendly staff. The first visit was so impressive that I visited twice :-)
Must order their spicy hot oil noodles and the duck soup. Amazing place and pricing is reasonable. Just remember to book a table on the weekend they do get busy we waited for 30mins for a table today.
Food was good!
amber was the nicest server, food was sooo delicious and the portion sizes were perfect
New favorite Chinese option for the North Shore. Different from the more common Cantonese options, these are great northern dishes - dumplings, duck soup and sweet and sour pork with rice are a must.
Service was great and friendly. We ordered a pork burger (spiced minced pork in a flat bread), sweet and sour short ribs, and duck soup with wontons. The ribs were super flavorful and the highlight. I liked the pork burger, but my partner was less keen on it. But we were both disappointed in the soup- the broth was kinda bland and the pork wontons had Szechuan numbing pepper in it, which is something I usually avoid. With that said, the ribs were excellent and we only tried a small part of the menu. So I may adjust my review up if we go back and find other things we like, but our first trip didnt super excite us. Important note: We are not Chinese, so its very possible the food was excellent, but just not to our taste.
Best Dumplings!
Parking: Food
Delicious food!
Really good Chinese food and good ambience for the whole restaurant
A late night dinner with the family on the patio at Lao Cai Chinese Cuisine. Featured here: Stewed Pork Burger Stewed Beef Noodle Soup Fern Root Noodle with Dark Vinegar Sauce Vegetarian Dumplings My husband said the beef in his Stewed Beef Noodle Soup was succulent and the broth was very tasty. Stewed Pork Burger was just OK. It was apparently lacking in flavor somewhat. As a Pescatarian, finding food for myself at this restaurant was challenging. I did manage to find some food which fit with my needs in the end but the food was just OK. Its not a place Id recommend to anyone whos a non meat eater. Vegetarian Dumplings were meh. I had hoped that my Fern Root Noodle would be a hot noodle dish but it turned out to be a cold noodle. As I tend to like tangy dishes, I did enjoy the flavor of this noodle but really wished that it would have been a hot noodle dish. There really isnt much else besides salad on the menu for people who dont eat meat. Other members of my family have come here repeatedly. They seem to enjoy the soup, noodles and hotpot dishes. Its a good spot on the North Shore to come for some hot, belly warming food if youre a meat eater. Cant see myself coming back to this restaurant again though. Service: Could have been better Parking: Free parking on the street Location: #130 - 1425 Marine Dr., West Vancouver
This is one of my favourite restaurants. I come here all the time and usually order the beef noodle soup. Everything is reasonably priced and always delicious. You seriously can t get Liang Pi this good anywhere else. The staff are incredibly friendly, and one of the main reasons that I love this place. I would give more stars if I could.
The noodles are outstanding hand pulled deliciousness .
delicious
Food was amazing! Like home cooked. Get the lamb cumin noodles, dumplings or beef noodle soup. Sweet and sour pork ribs and black vinegar peanuts were also excellent. My daughter especially liked the duck wonton soup. Adults and kids all loved it.
Great food, and reasonable prices!
The old duck soup hot pot is absolutely amazing! Hand-caught mutton~ Roujiamo Order a few noodles and get the old duck soup~ Parking: There is a parking lot at the back door, and you can also park on the roadside in front~
Great
everything was so delicious. some of the best Chinese food Ive ever had. got the stewed beef noodle soup, spicy pork ear salad, lamb and carrot boiled dumplings, and spicy cumin lamb noodle. the noodles were the perfect texture, beef and lamb the perfect tenderness. FYI wasnt very spicy and I have a low tolerance.
Today is the fourth time I have eaten at Lao Cai Restaurant, and it tastes pretty good. The waiters have very good attitudes and are warm and thoughtful. It s worth the 40-minute drive here.
Great cooking, great service!
Delicious
The duck hotpot is delicious and well worth a try. Liangpi is not bad. The waiters were very kind.
Get the cumin lamb
Very good food and very good service especially. I left my sunglasses and left after meal. The waiter ran out half block and returned it to me.
The other foods were delicious, but the dumplings were especially delicious. The sauce containing black vinegar makes me want to take it home...
Order tow bows mom likes them.
Delicious food, fast and friendly service, great place to get hand-made dumplings and noodles
I like the YangRou Pao-Mo ( mutton steamed bun )
Amazing hand pulled noodles and dumplings. Service was fast. The noodle texture and chili oil seasoning was top notch. On our list of places to dine at again
If you are very hungry, don t come here. It s super slow. As someone said before, you should come first in the morning and last at the end.
Authentic, reminds me of Xi an
Wonderful Xian dishes! Friendly and attentive service!
Authentic, hearty, wholesome food! We had the pork burger, sweet & sour ribs (on the appetizer menu), stewed beef noodle soup, and a couple of steamed dumplings. All highly recommended. The ribs are great to nibble on, the beef soup extremely deep yet clean, noodles and dumplings all home-made. The staff are super friendly and attentive. Will definitely visit again!
Loved it. The food was great and the setting is nice.
Duck wonron and homemade beef noodle soup. Best everrr Wheelchair accessibility: Ground floor. But not the washroom Food : 5/5 |
Amazing Dumplings and Noodles! Great small restaurant with great service. I enjoy every time I go!
Good homemade style Chinese food. Was a hidden gem and now super busy, especially at dinner time. Highly recommend their noodles and the lamb hotpot.
