Beachside specialty coffee, food, and experience..
I used to love this place but the food has gone downhill. Fish & chips were greasy, barely any fish in the batter with soggy fries. The tuna poke is no longer a fresh bowl, it was so salty and served on salty chips with nothing else. So sad, hopefully by next summer it will improve.
Had coffee ☕️ Here .... its got indoor and outdoor seating areas at this restaurant and take out ,very busy here
Looking for a restaurant with an incredible ocean view? Look no further! •Service: we ordered at the window since we wanted to sit and eat on the beach. The girl who took our order was very friendly! Our food didn’t take long, maybe 8-10mins. •Chicken Burger with Fries, 3.5/5: I’m sad they don’t make the chicken burger they used to, it was a 5/5! The new burger’s served on a soft brioche bun, chicken was nicely cooked, lightly seasoned and deep fried. Coleslaw on the burger was a nice touch, it gave me pulled pork sandwich vibes. Unfortunately, as you can see in the photo, this seriously lacked BBQ sauce, or I would’ve given this a higher rating. I’d still recommend trying this burger, just ask for extra sauce. *Boat Shed, if you’re listening, please bring back the old chicken burger, it was outstanding! •Cod Burger 3.75/5: there’s nothing quite like eating fish and chips by the sea! Again, what’s with the lack of sauce? Also served on a fresh brioche bun, we got a generous piece of cod, which was cooked to perfection! The batter’s thick and well-seasoned. Once again, coleslaw’s a nice touch, especially on this burger. You’ll want to eat this fairly quickly, between the soft bun, coleslaw, pickle and battered fish, it can get a bit soggy. I wish there was more tartar sauce, I would’ve given 4/5, but I still highly recommend this, just ask for extra sauce. My friend and I agreed this was the better burger of the two! •Parmesan Truffle Fries with Garlic Aioli, 2.75/5: truffle isn’t my favorite, but my friend loves it, so I tried a couple. We agreed that given the mild truffle flavor and sprinkle of Parmesan, these didn’t justify the $4 upgrade. *Side note, my friend said they’d get Garlic Aioli as a dip for the regular fries, it was good. •Regular Fries, 5/5: delicious! Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, served piping hot. The fries alone make me want to come back! Overall: Burgers cost $20 and come with French Fries, or upgrade to Yam or Parmesan Truffle Fries for an additional $4. Portions are generous, depending how hungry you are, two people could share a burger and fries. After these tasty meals today, (minus the sauce issue, which I know to ask for extra next time), I’d return to try other things!
I was walking beside the beach while I was looking around for have a meal and then reached to this cozy restaurant. The atmosphere was pretty friendly and the beer was good enough. I ordered the “boat-shed burger” which I though it should be their best burger, however it could be more delicious than what it was. I saw a lot of people who grabbed ice cream, so my next order will be this item in the future.
Gosh it doesn’t get better than this! Oceanfront, sandy beach and the best drinks and food with great service. The boat shed is a beautiful establishment and represents WestVancouver at its best. There are three types of seating, one under the tents, one loung seating by fire tables as well as beautiful enclosed green house to sit indoors. We also had the luxury of a live band called Kasual when we visited and we had a blast. We spent extended hours at the location and had food from lunch, snack and dinner through the day and evening 😃
Enjoyed a lovely evening there with great food and a beautiful sunset! I love how close it is to the playground. It helps to keep our little one happy! Lamb salad was really fresh and not gamy at all. And all three of us just can't stop munching on the yam fries! My husband particularly love the dipping sauce. I love the nice Coastal decor. We would be back again!
Cute, casual place with awesome beachfront location. Local beers on tap, and a great semi-enclosed patio with heaters or firebowls. Diverse menu. Breaded chicken burger with bacon/pineapple was a big hit! The fish in the fish tacos is just like in fish & chips rather than the more classic breaded or grilled, so just be aware - tasty tacos!
Enjoyed a delicious lunch in this beautiful decor right near the beach. The service was good and the food was very tasty. My friend had the Lamb Chop Lollipops and I had the Baja Fish Tacos, very yummy! Definitely will be back in the future.
The food is really basic. It used to be better. Frozen fries, soft oily fish, etc.
I visit The Boat Shed regularly with the Ambleside Parkrun group who come here for post-run coffees. The locations is brilliant, with stunning ocean views, and the staff are always friendly. The only area for improvement is that it would be great to see more vegan options here.
I was ok, fries undercooked from frozen
They said it would take them 20 minutes to make our food (our order was yam fries and chicken strips) it took about an hour and 30 minutes and a bit more! We ordered at 1 so by the time we got our food it was no longer lunch time. And when we went to ask about our food we didn t let us finish and just said not ready yet. Extremely unhappy!
Great pizza & burgers with a view!
The food & coffee was so cold I hated it ! And the customer service was 0 so mean and disrespectful. The environment is pretty but overall I don t recommend it at all
Cool Spot on the beach but customer service today was a little lack lustre Food
Casual On beach
Its right by the water! $8 white claw or $9 beers.
Burgers were amazing , sitting beach side for food is always a bonus, food came out quick and correct..Price is a bit high but would come back again
Great ambience, good service and good value for money
I recently visited the Boatshed Ambleside with my girlfriend, and unfortunately, our experience was disappointing. We ordered a glass of wine and a cocktail from the menu. The wine was listed at $14, and the cocktail was around $12, yet our total charge was $38. Upon reviewing the menu after finishing our drinks , I noticed the discrepancy and brought it to our server s attention. I was informed that I had ordered a $20 wine instead of the $14 one, despite clearly stating the name of the $14 wine when I placed my order. This kind of misunderstanding and overcharging is unacceptable. It s crucial for the staff to ensure that orders are accurately taken and prices are correctly reflected on the bill. Unfortunately, this experience has left me hesitant to return to Boatshed Ambleside.
Great experience today. Good portions, delicious food, and solid tunes and ambience. Good stuff. Keep up the good work.
Yum yum. loved it.
Great fish and chips.
$6 .
It s a great little restaurant right on the beach great service tasty food. Really enjoyed it.
It is pretty hard to beat this dinners location.
Enjoyed the boat shed very much.. love being on the beach enjoying a meal... 3 starts for service is only because it was not table service per se have to order and pay at a counter... But the girls were wonderful and they do bring u food so its not all bad...
The Boatshed is such a disappointment. It was fantastic when it first opened, with full table service and lots of great options to accommodate folks with food allergies. Ive been a couple of times this season and since theyve updated their menu there are *very* few gluten-free options (though apparently theyll have gluten-free pizzas in the future) and even their dine-in is self-serve. A staff member came by to clear a table, but didnt wipe it down after several minutes, so we tidied it up ourselves. They always seem to be understaffed and it shows. Lots of cut corners. Its a pity, because the location is fantastic but its not worth the money nor the hassle.
I wait along time just for burger and he came said sorry ready for 3 min later and served for me 20 min later not 3 min.
Experience ruined by the extremely rude blonde girl with glasses. English/ maybe Irish accent. Place was great before but she s extremely rude and will be contacting owner. Decided to go elsewhere after her attitude
extremely rude front take out girl April 9 2024, approx. 3pm
I stopped by for an afternoon meal, waited 4.5 mins in the front to be seated the server told me just a sec which was absolutely fine, waited another 3.4 mins and waved at someone who was working but she pretended I wasn t there, So I asked them sry why r u ignoring me . She could just say sry and help me but instead she was rude and mean , she told her colleague or manager about the situation right in front of me and started talking negatively of me with other customers saying I started a fight, this was a huge shock to me. I tried to talk to them and explain that I wasn t mad or it probably was a misunderstanding but they did not listen and continued with their snarky cold attitude. This is the first time such an awful interaction happens to me in my whole life, At the end not only they didn t apologize but literally told ANOTHER table about how some customers (me) have no manners. Definitely won t be coming back
Amazing Food and so friendly and kind crew. Lovely Ocean view. I love to bring my kids here and they recommend chicken tenders and the playground is really nice.
It has a very cozy and friendly atmosphere.
This place was great for the first few years. Last year and this year I had so many bad experiences here. From food not being fresh to absolutely horrible service. Its such a great spot, however not worth it anymore.
Had an amazing lunch in this beautiful place. Paveil (hope I am not misspelling it) was amazing and helped us had an amazing experience. Would love to come back again.
This is a wonderful spot if you keep your expectations clear. Great for a coffee and snack in the summer looking out to the beach from the patio. Great for a drink and some pub food otherwise. During covid it was wonderful to sit outside with the fire going with a light lunch. I have found the staff to be very friendly. Downside is the music for me. Too top 40, and too loud. Feels like its for the staff instead of the customers.
Good atmosphere Nice Staff
Fantastic fish and chips
Painfully slow service, food is Inconsistent at best and not good ever. Ridiculous prices but let s face it there s nothing else at the beach
This used to be the very best outdoor dining experience on the North Shore. Such a disappointment as of June 4, 2023
This place was SOO good last summer... what happened? No service (literally, you have to order from a window, they still expect a 20% tip tho), terrible music, and below average food (overcooked rubber chicken and a burger that tastes like a frozen superstore patty). They get two stars cause its a cute spot in a great location right on the beach. We wont be back tho ..
Use to be good, not anymore. Chicken strips are often cold and dry and stringy. Fries are burned and or overly salty. Will be doing take out at Earls next time.
The best margaritas in North America! Tacos are amazing as well !
OMG. My first time here and totally amazing all around! I planned on just getting a beer but then had to get food and finally a coffee too. Great service. THANK YOU. I ll be back..
Perfect place for enjoying the day !
Fantastic location, fantastic atmosphere, terrible restaurant. My friends and I are a bunch of ~18-year-olds who typically have low expectations, but even we were disappointed. To start off our meal, we were given 3 sets of cutlery for the 4 of us. Not sure if they expected #4 to eat with his hands or what, but even after being seated we were not given any water or cups and had to ask for them ourselves. Waitresses were clearly inexperienced and served our food one person at a time, telling us something along the lines of You enjoy your meal, your friends food will be arriving later, with the other food still 5-10 minutes out. Were the rest of us supposed to sit there and watch as one person ate? Was that one person supposed to resist temptation and wait to eat (while their food cooled in the open air)? This happened twice, and yet only when all our food was finished did we realise they even forgot to bring out one of the side dishes we had ordered! We tend to be rather understanding people, but the waitresses clearly did not care. We were served by two girls who looked about 16 and who were visibly apathetic to their jobs, only doing the bare minimum to scrape by. They didnt even have uniforms on, just their regular everyday clothes, though thats probably more on the owners. Lastly, the food was not very good. It was certainly edible and not something Id attest to giving a second chance, but I would rate my specialty Boat Shed Burger as a 6/10 and my friend gave his fish and chips a 5/10. Our most satisfied had ordered the vegan tacos, which were a 7-8/10. However, the food was cheap enough for the quality, and despite being served in paper plates (!) I wouldnt really go as far as to cite the food as a major turnoff. The atmosphere is fantastic, though that much is visible from the outside. I would find it hard to accept this as a substitute for the poor service and mediocre food, however, and the four of us will be visiting somewhere else with our $80 next time. Vegetarian options: Most of the food is available vegetarian. My Muslim friend (who cannot eat any meat) had no trouble ordering. Wheelchair accessibility: I did not pay particularly close attention (I am an able person) but I do not see how a person in a wheelchair could access this restaurant.
Very good food. Great spot for summer dinning. Friendly service. Definitely coming back
What has become of the Boatshed? It was such a nice spot with good food in that lovely beachfront location. Now you order at a window and the just-short-of-inedible food is delivered to you in a takeout container. We spent $60 for greasy soggy fish n chips and a Caesar salad swimming in bottled dressing. Is it new ownership? Whatever, we won t be back
There is no beachfront cafe like this in Vancouver so it is a true gem! Delicious food both for dine in and take out, amazing patio spaces, friendly service and great coffee! Just steps from the beach and playground - this is a spot not to be missed!
An amazing venue on the ocean, Food is great, servers are friendly and efficient . Dog friendly patio. I see many summer meals coming up here
Nice food. Nice location.
Nice outdoor seating ....great salmon burger and salad...very well cooked!!...good coffee free refills
You can t beat this location , right on the beach , great friendly service and delicious food . Truffle fries are only $8 and Happy hour is also well priced .
Honestly some of the worst fish and chips Ive ever had. I got a tiny piece that was quite tough - I had to saw at it to get through it. The slaw was quite bland, and it was a tiny serving of chips.
The chicken avo sando was spectacular (half already eaten in the photo), chips were out of this world, price was very affordable. Great music and a happy vibe.
It s all about the most authentically beachside vibe in the lower mainland. The burger is excellent as well as the (small portion) fries. Unlike the overly glossy and ho hum food at the English Bay Cactus Club, this little shanty feel like it is actually integrated with the beach culture.
The best cocktail I have ever tried! Your bartender Cian is such a alchemist! I would really recommend it!
There is a dog friendly part in the restaurant, but you cant sit anywhere if you have a dog ( ask them where you can sit). The food was good (the tastes & the appearance ). Ill go there again...
Went here for food recently and the food was delicious! service was top notch would definitely recommend
Fantastic place to have a busin food, nice service and great environment
The frier is so sexy
The Boatshed Ambleside is a fun, relaxed restaurant, right on the beach, with excellent food. Our daughter s puppy was welcomed and given a doggie treat. The staff were friendly and competent; we had a great time!
Nice place on the beach for casual fare. Tacos are good!
Great food and great service, and Aoife is the best. Memo 2 cooks amazing Food : 5/5
Best truffle fries I ve had on any beach! Max helped me out and she was a delight. Wish there was more sauce but alas! 10/10 would order the truffle fries again.
Nice place to visit in familie with your pets. Also you can enjoy a beutiful sunlight in the afternoon with nice ambiental music.
Best fried cheese in town
Super busy place right by Ambleside which makes it a perfect stop to grab some food when youre hungry! Although we had to flag down our server a couple times to get their attention, the food was delicious on the other hand!
Well located near the beach; I only had a coffee to take away.
Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, The Boat Shed has a policy were they refuse (will not) cook you a burger and fries until noon. They insist on pushing the breakfast menu. Any other day of the week they will cook you a burger before noon. Why? You cannot cook an omelet on one burner and a burger on the other?Customers and their kids want burgers and fries at 10am, 11am, 12pm 1pm etc. The lady at the Boat Shed said that she doesnt understand why this is an issue. Well, West vancouver families want burgers please on those days that you are imposing these restrictions
Staff are fantastic especially Pavlova. We just missed the breakfast at menu perhaps that should extend into 1pm cause the parking is quite limited at Ambleside. The food is worth it. The hamburger looked a bit under cooked so I took it home. Hehe It is more like a take out place. So not expect the cashier to know what food product they are out of. It is a dog friendly place so I took my dad and his dog there Thanks dad for buying lunch (and dinner)
Beach drinks and food. Best in town Dietary restrictions: Anything you require Parking: Parking at park tons of spaces available Kid-friendliness: Yes! They love kids
Its sort of this cute little place, tucked away, but right on Ambleside beach. They used to have full service, but now it operates more like a food truck, you go and order from the takeout window, but you can eat it there. The atmosphere is very cute and cozy, and the food has always been good every time Ive gone! They specialize in seafood/fish and chips.
Loved it a lot better when it had full table service.
London fog is amazing
Dishes we ordered were lovely. Cheers to kitchen. Getting cutlery, napkins and proper supply of water is another matter. After our dishes arrived, found our wait staff having a chinwag with hostess, while cutlery was waiting on a tray. Table next to ours had a jug of water and glass. We had 1tumbler of water, with no attempt to check for a refill. Customers need to be proactive to have full dining experience at this establishment. And to wait staff- for great tips, keep in contact with your customers.
Just got lattes to go. It was busy so there was a wait for 10 min.
Yummy crumbles fish! Cant say much of the atmosphere because we went at lunch time for take away but it seems a nice place for a quick meal.
Good food, great views, and friendly service. Reasonably priced given the location.
Nice place. Appreciate they ve added a vegan option, but more plant based foods would be great! Also, would benefit from adding a baby change table in the washroom!
Evening delight awaits you at Ambleside Beaches amazing Boat Shed restaurant and coffee house. Friendly efficient staff serve top class cuisine made from fresh local produce. Cozy atmosphere provided by tableside fires in a casual tent and garden greenhouses. What an unique place for all to enjoy!
It was the first time, I invited my family to this place. We arrived at 7:00 p.m.! We were attended at 7:05! The first lady told us that we can sit inside the cottages. We were deciding weather it is cold or not; she left us! We asked for assistance for the second time and the second lady attended. She told us (not very politely) that all tables and cottages mist be reserved online. This contradicted the first attendant! We lost 20 minutes of our time and left at 7:20. A very bad experience which will stop me and my fiends and family to be there again!
We had my Father s 90th birthday dinner at The Boat Shed. The food was excellent and the service was top notch. The unique set up made it really private & something special. Thanks to everyone at The Boat Shed!
I was there for dinner on Sunday with two other people. We ordered 4 dishes: 3 dishes to dine-in with and 1 dish to take away. The 4th dish never arrived. They forgot it.
Great for COVID social distancing, with individual family Greenhouses. Good service great food
Super disappointing experience waiting over 25 mins for one chai latte. Literally no no line. Why is there ONE person making the drinks and the other two are walking around?
This is a cool spot right on the beach at Ambleside. Good food, good service, gorgeous location! I took some friends from out of town and they really enjoyed it. Uniquely Vancouver way to enjoy a meal!
We dined under the stars at The Boatshed Ambleside. The ambiance is fantastic! We are seated in our own plastic greenhouse complete with heater, Bluetooth Speaker and lighting. The food is good: The menu is all over the place from burgers and tacos to marinated lamb chops, and grilled pear salad. Dessert from churros to lava cake; however, there was no flowing chocolate in the cake and the churros were underwhelming. The prices, location and ambience scream fine dining experience but the food and service do not match. The service was sub-par- considering they include an 18% gratuity. We received a drink included in the fixed price menu and a carafe filled with water. The server came numerous times to pick up empty plates and bring the next course but never once asked if we would like another drink or replace the empty water carafe.
We came to Ambleside on a whim and saw these cute greenhouse seating. I immediately wanted to check it out for the aesthetic. Unfortunately, we didnt get to that point. We waited outside to get a table, and the server was so incredibly rude, I was shocked. As someone whose worked in the service industry, I understand that sometimes you feel overwhelmed and busy. But the waitress was so snappy, rude and unwilling to help. I came with my dog after a long walk and what immediately turned me off was my dog had barked at something as she walked by and she loudly yelled at my dog OMG SHUT UP This right away told me that it wasnt a place I wanted to be. We left before being seated.
Rude male greeter, over priced for what you get.
Beer is good. Friend of mine ordered chicken wings with salt&pepper. Bit salty. It looks like the chef accidentally pour entire salt in there.
Latte was excellent, kids had a vanilla steam milk, and chicken strips and fries. Everything was cooked perfectly. Fries were delicious! Cant wait to go back for a full sit down dinner.
Cute location and ambience but sadly not enough staff for when it gets busy. 2 pm ish on a Monday Afternoon. We were kind of guided to our table and weren t formally asked if we had been helped. I then watched people walk up outside and get their order taken before we were even asked if we wanted drinks? 20 minutes had passed and the wait staff never came by our table. Other patrons had to get up to pay for their meals as it looked like the one wait person was run off their feet. Then after 20 min the people outside got their to go food again before somebody attended to us. We grabbed our coats and left. Too bad really, cute looking place.
Wait was a little long but the food completely makes up for it. Friendly staff.
Food was great, view was nice. 5-stars for a 100% compostable takeout service.
Great place right next to the sea. Friendly service and great coffee.
Amazing for with a great sunset view.
Nice views but menu too limited.
Wow. Stunning food, very reasonably priced. Steak sandwich, stuffed jalapenos, Tacos, Wings all fantastic. Amazing service. Cant wait to try everything else.
Beautiful
Great place to stop for a drink and a bite. Since Covid, they have managed to still provide the locals with great dishes and a good selection of wine. This is more than a beach burger counter...it is a place to enjoy a nice dinner and meet with friends. The view over the bay is lovely...going there in the late afternoon, guarantees a beautiful sunset. Plenty of parking, great service, good menu. Its a place to keep on the list of venues to go.
Abysmal! 45 minutes from the time we ordered two basic sandwiches to the time our order was ready. No warning, explanation or acknowledgment. If you can t fulfill orders in a reasonable manner, don t accept the orders. Maybe this business should stick to packaged foods and give up on involving the kitchen.
Lawrence make the best tasting Chai latte EVER!!!
Pretty horrible service, too bad as the food and coffee are actually pretty good. Just can t justify going to this place anymore after many visits. There s a point when you get fed up with aloof staff that really doesn t seem to want to be there. It s a Friday at 5pm in May and they will do everything possible to not sit you. Interesting to find a business thats works to not make money. Very curious???
The staff is friendly the food was decent and beautiful area in West Vancouver.
The waiter was indifferent when we asked him for solving a problem in the restaurant. He just told us I am too busy and do not have enough time to think about that let alone solve it.
I ordered cesar salad Lettuce was not fresh I told them She take the salad in front of me to inform the chef I mean, I did not eat salad and they did not bring me anything instead And count the money! It was the worst restaurant in the west Vancouver
Fantastic coffee, great menu selection
We loved this place and used to go often. The location , atmosphere is beautiful . unfortunately , food quality has changed recently, I hope its temporary.
Mediocre food with terrible service. I think the restaurant was understaffed. You need to wait to be seated as per the sign and there were only two servers and no host or hostess. We were standing there for 10 minutes before anyone attended to us. The friendly waitress took our order, delivered our order promptly , but never came back to see if everything was alright and whether we needed anything else. The fish and chips were ok. The batter was crispy enough and the fries were hot. But 2 piece cod is $22. Pajo s at Rocky Point is only $16 and is quite delicious. Overall it is passable. Maybe if I drank beer I would appreciate the restaurant more.
I had the johnys pops .I took the Blackberrys cheesecake one omg was so good and it took no time thank you for your good service
I miss the clam crowder at this place
A great spot for a meal. Tasty food and courteous service
We ordered takeout to eat on the beach. Two burgers and two non-alcoholic beverages came to $60. The wait was 25 minutes. The food tasted good but the fries were scant, especially compared to the photos of dine-in meals, and especially considering we both paid more for specialty fries. Maybe a dozen each.
Great food and chill vibes
Service was ok, kinda slow. Great view. Fish tacos are great and so are the drinks. Kids burger was over cooked and chicken planco burger was too dry.
Good environment
Rude staff
Great burger! The place is so popular they ran out of fries! Theyre doing a fantastic job of making the place a go to joint.
Food is always delicious. View of the ocean. You cant go wrong here.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR BEING DOG FRIENDLY!!!!!!!!!!! Service and food is very good also :)
Good food and good service
Love this place for the view and relaxed atmosphere on the beach. Good drinks and chow, too!!
Love the boatshed! Cant beat the location, only disappointment was the calamari. Really small order and over cooked. But everything else was great
Awesome experience. Nice food and beautiful view
Really good 90% of the time. Weve experienced days when they forgot the seasoning on the batter before and they seem to run out of sangria often. They seem to follow a pre-mix system. Overall, really good. Good: Fish and chips, cod burger, ahi tuna (with tortilla chips). + sangria, mai tai and margarita. Bad: Calimari (maybe a bad day - only tried once) and Caesar (ratios wrong). Mainly, its the music. At first we were excited for the live music!! but he does not have a nice voice unfortunately. He also repeats the same songs during the same set so we actually try to avoid days where he plays (sorry!). Some seem to enjoy him while others are being polite.
Parking: Public parking in park Wheelchair accessibility: Ground level
Idyllic setting and good food and drinks. Let down by the service sadly, which often ranges from slow to unhelpful and borderline rude. Looking at other reviews I see Im not alone in experiencing that :-/ Hopefully the service improves as the location is perfect.
I have been a loyal customer for 2 years already, dining at least 3 times a month at the Boatshed. The experience for the last 4 times at least has been really unpleasant, other guests being offered a table before us, whilst they were not on the waiting list (there are no booking options). Confusion can happen, but 4 times in a raw really shows a problem. The experience at the amazing other location at Cypress (the Shed) is sadly not much better with loooooong waiting for a pizza (sometimes over 45 minutes and last order far too early). The Beach House at Dundarave is where we ended and even though it is not the same budget and food, the efficiency and attention of the staff makes it so worthy!
Weve been there a couple of times, love their burgers, very lovely place
Awful fish and chips. We got some to eat on the beach and the pieces were mushy and frankly gross. The tarter sauce was heinz packets. Overall it was absolutely a waste of money.
Beautiful location, delicious food and amazing service! Highly recommended!!
Burnt-smelling fries, sluggish and super oily fish & chips and expensive. Felt like having food from a portable food truck, but with a price from a decent restaurant. Service was good. Won t recommend the food at all. Better off going to Cactus Club.
Absolutely loved our sunset dinner. Lovely service, good food, reasonably priced and location you can t beat.
It was really good, excellent calamari
Good food, great location. Loved the salmon burger
Great location with a great view and access to the beach. The service was very friendly. Food was good but with a few details that require more attention from the kitchen (this is the reason I am not giving it 5*, for now). Overall it was a very joyable experience and I would definitely go back (see if I can give them the 5* ). Last but not least, the patio is pet friendly. Kudos for that! we enjoyed bringing in our Until next time!
Great place for dinner or lunch. Few steps from water feels like you are on vacation. The live music was very nice.
Great place, great food options (vegetarian options). Hostes service was not the best, just regular. They gave us a table and Claire was really nice. We wanted to change to a table that had sun and we had to ask for it three times in a row. We change to another table and the new server was not as kind as expected (tronca). It took almost 30 minutea to get our meals. I must say food is great, but host and service performance can substantially improve. A smile one once in a while would be appreciated. Coffee is awesome. Service is essential.
Pavel and Aoife made my day, great food with even better service!
Went on 28th August to get 3 Johnny pops and first paid for three then after giving the three popsicles the guy said oh, sorry I charged only for two so do one more so I tap my card again and left without getting a receipt. Checked my credit card and found two payments, first of which was of the first three pops that was $14 something and an extra Popsicle that I never got for $4.73. So not too happy that I paid for three bad tasting popsicles.
Great presentation, tasty food. Nice little spot in Ambleside.
Do yourself a favor and heft the Passionate cocktail on a summer day. Sooooo good and refreshing. My wife loved her mezcal marg.
Nice spot by the water. Sweet service.
The best location
We live in Nanaimo and whenever we get to Ambleside this is the first place we go. We always looked forward to the salmon plate which had a variety of different cold salmon appetizers on it, we were sooo sorry to see that they have taken off their menu, it was the best!! Can t find anything like it anywhere, very disappointed but the tuna poke bowl is delicious as are the fish tacos, can t wait to go back!
Unbelievable attitude from every single person working there. Zero customer service whatsoever. Its a good thing the food is at least decent
Product quality and taste was not very good. I also think the portion is small for the price. But the patio was very nice.
It is fantastic to be able to eat while looking at the beautiful sea. The steak sandwich I had for lunch was really really great!!
Our first time there but definitely wont be the last. I loved the beach vibe.
Beautiful brunch spot with a view. Good service. Relaxing environment.
Nice to watch the sunset and have a beer/wine
Youre essentially paying for the view and not the food ; given the location. Average service at most. The price verses the actual worth of the raw materials required to purchase by this establishment to make the food, makes you ponder. Doesnt justify or reflect the prices they stand for. Simply a cafe amped up by the view and its location serving tad bit above average quality food in a shack. Get over yourself people. I mean, this could apply for the entire demographic living in this North Shore region.
What place gives you you own private fireplace? A great place to have a drink and food after a walk on the sea wall
Nice
The food is fantastic and the view is great, hoping to come back here on my way back through Vancouver. Definitely one of those places Id like to try everything on the menu.
So, first time here. Breaky cold, sent back with apologies to waitress. Not chefs problem; waitress. Ms. Irish not only didnt give us her time, but very much dismissed us. My friends that I went there with couldnt believe it as they had massive, wonderful things to say about the place. When my food came back, it WAS THE SAME PLATE, and not what I had ordered. No yolk to play with (my fav)with toast; just reheated to destruction. Effin with us is what comes to mind; all three of us sent breakys back. And I had enough of her attitude so I just said no thanks. No break on my friends bill as it also came, 2x, cold. With all the good reviews? I wont go back... they wont miss me, but they keep this garbage up and downhill we go.
Beautiful place and the taste is good also.Quantity of lamb chop is to small
I would give a 5 if it were not for the little bit of lack of effort from our host/greeter. Needed to sit on the garden patio as we had a dog but she said it was full....yet when our group was seated at another area (dog could not join us), a table became vacant at the spot we wanted but she did not offer it to us and sat the next party in line. Food was amazing, server and counter staff made up for her confusion. Plus the view and proximity to the beach front is awesome! Plenty of picnic tables around too and greenhouse tables were cute. Warning, take out menu has much less available items than dine in.
Lovely place . Best Aloha bowl ..
Second chance again months later to see if things had changed and still a disappointment. First time here we put on names on the wait list and over an hour later we heard nothing. Wife went back to check on status and our name was randomly crossed off the wait list. Restaurant provided free coffees to go for the mistake. Second time we went with friends for dinner. Put their names on the wait list this time. An hour later no call. Went to check on the progress and we were rushed to the worst table outside. High chairs with no backs, next to the Bluetooth speaker and no candle at our table but LED lights. Waited 10min for our waiter to come back to take our order. Our drinks came right away and then our waiter completely vanished for the night. Never saw him again for the rest of the evening. An hour later we ask the hostess where our food is and she heads off to the kitchen and returns to tell us it will be out in 2min and sorry for the delay. I am sure they had lost our order and waiter. Food was excellent when it finally came out but wait staff was almost nonexistent for a completely full restaurant. Hopefully they can find some staff to wait on the tables in the future. I wouldn t recommend going until then. Unless you are ok waiting almost 3 hours for your food. We arrived at 6pm. Were seated at 7pm and finally paid the bill at almost 10pm. Prices are really reasonable but would rather get take out next time.
This is a wonderful little find. The restaurant not only has areas for indoor and outdoor dining but it also has a side counter so you can order food to-go and sit on the beach, which is only about 20 feet away! The food and service was excellent. I will definitely be coming back here.
Very nice patio seat. Each patio section has different theme...very unique.
really nice place to hangout with family and friends. Kayak here is an advanture for wave is unstable compares to inlet.
Great ambiance, nice wine, friendly staff and good food.
I went here tonight for food and drinks and I just want to say a big thanks to Kate Jessie and Anna! They were very attentive and friendly! Up the Irish
Great beer and service
Great view! I loved my order, Lamp salad
The spinach and artichoke dip was delicious, customer service was average and the atmosphere was calm and cozy
Very nice place to dinner and spectacular view
A local gem! 10/10 Great location, beachfront with stunning views. Inside heaters and seating with central fireplaces makes it a perfect spot all year round. Even on those drizzly Vancouver days. Fantastic, attentive, friendly staff. Incredible value for money. Food was delicious. Not to be missed!!
The chicken burger here is delicious and crispy, and the fries are amazing
Great ambiance - live band, family, pet and vegan friendly. Food was tasty and affordable. Was lucky enough to get a table outside on one of the last good summer days.
I dont know what to say about this restaurant or even where to start. We came at night, the window view was very dirty - from the slow service, to tiny minuscule oysters (38$ for 12) - terrible soupy clam chowder made with barely no ingredients other than cream. The entrée was below mediocre (Steak was good but nothing special compare to any other steak places - Cajun tacos had old fish in it). I would imagine this place being much livelier at lunch when you can actually see the view and not dirty windows? Do yourself a favor and grab something simple like a burger and youll be just fine.
This is a great place for lunch right next to the beach! We got the fish&chips and the cod burger, everything was delicious and the prices are really good.
Ate outside next to a warm fire. Food was good and great that our four legged friend could sit with us while we ate and watched the sun set
Great location with a beautiful patio, near the fireplace and delicious food especially the Fish & Chips and Ceaser salad. The manager, Jason was very kind and helpful but some of the staff was not. But overall, I recommend trying it.
No boat sheds at the Boatshed restaurant... boo.
Excellent festival experience. Enjoy the evening under the stars - rain . The patter of rain while enjoying dinner with close friends
Loved dinning under the starts. Very romantic and warm. Lemon Dill Salmon was great.
