The menu is actually outstanding for pub food . The chili chicken bites were dynamite. My bartender, Kelsey was super accommodating and knowledgeable. 10/10. Anytime you re waiting for a ferry- this is THE place.

If you re a fan of huge, cold, undercooked, over breaded, over sauced, slimy chicken wings then this is the place for you.

My husband and I came here with 2 of our friends for supper as its been a really hard day and we came in and we had this amazing lady named Christian as our waitress - she was friendly kind attentive and gave us tons of conversation ! She definitely changed my day around and we didnt run out of drinks at all and the food tasted amazing. This moment really helped me know that there is greatness in the world. Thank you

Nice place to chill

A wonderful place to break for lunch while waiting for the Horsebay Bay Ferry. Service was a bit slow, but nothing too bad. The food was delicious. We had the chicken tacos and burgers in lettuce wraps. We sat outside on the patio and enjoyed the lovely end of summer air. I would recommend coming here.

Do not come here if you are in a rush/hungry. This is very much - it ll be ready when its ready type of place. For the lack of speed to get our food, i had hoped for better. The bahn mi taco was better than the fish and chips. Got bar seats outside looking out to the pier. All in all, i would return for the view, not the food

Came in by myself to get some dinner, and they had amazing people, amazing service and excellent food, the hot wings were amazing!!! so delicious!

Verrry dirty pub. The manager who sat us admitted it had been weeks since the glass had been cleaned when i mentioned it..explaing it was due to being busy...we were there about 945 pm tonight and it wasnt suoer busy yet she was sitting doing roll ups instead of maybe cleaning? I noticed so many dirty tables that stayed that way the whole time we were there...sticky seats and sticky tabkes could also be explained by the rag they were using Honestly i worked in service industry for years and all i could think was wow how can anyone look at this mess and leave it? Ill attatch some pics of the glass on patio visible to all customers and people...i mean they are the only place open so maybe thats why they dont care? Its just gross in there. Hope they can get some good help there Cheers

Great local pub, I dont drink anymore but the environment and food are fantastic. Staff all rock, too! If youre unsure, just go - rotation special menu is worth the check in alone when youre coming through!

The Troller is a great restaurant and great pub! The crew is always super every time we have been in. They are welcoming, friendly and attentive to you, and you feel like everyone is proud of what theyre doing and serving. Speaking of which, the food is great! Many delicious and well-prepared items on their menu. I had the Yorkshire Pudding this time and it was absolutely delicious! Fish and chips are really good here too, if youre in the mood for that. The cod is awesome and the pieces are really big. Drinks and beers are great too! Thanks guys for another great time!

The food is pretty decent however the service is awful, the servers plain out ignore you when you sit down, takes often 10 minutes to order a drink. Too bad, this place would have potential but they need to rehire some fresh staff

8 months later.... so I tried again. My hubby loves the calamari, he says best he ever had. I wanted salmon and chips, it was on their website menu. Hubby was told they have never had that.(pick up again while we were waiting in ferry line) I got cod. It was OK. Guys,you seriously want to update your online menus. Tons of people are ordering from the ferry line and checking the menu online. It must be accurate. Fish taco used to be so good. Just had some. It was tiny. And extremly spicy. Also I asked for the fish taco salad from the menu and they did not have it. So why is it on the menu (here online) Food was picked up my hubby, and he was told there is no such thing as fish taco salad, but it is on the menu here on Google..... Disappointed Note: my husband loves their fried calamar.

As someone who takes the ferry on a regular basis, I love spending time here. Brenden makes a killer chicken parm sandwich, and the beer selection is always stellar.

There are two sides to every story. There were 6 of us for dinner. The place was at 50% capacity and plenty of staff. We all ordered different items except two of us had the Fish Tacos. The protions were all generous except for the Fish Tacos. Advertised a two `large` tortillas as a` Main` dish ( not an appetizer), they were tiny. Fish and Chips were great, Burger was great, Beet salad was great, Yorkshire pudding great, Drinks were great, however, I`m not sure if the server is a little hard of hearing. Coffee is not tea and Pale Ale is not Lager. Otherwise, everything was good.

It was a stormy day and husband and I went to the first restaurant we saw off the ferry overpass. We had no expectations, just a place to grab a quick dinner. But we were pleasantly surprised. I had the crispy chicken sandwich and he had the chicken parmesan. My chicken sandwich was juicy and crispy, side salad was also very yummy. They also gave me a very generous pour on the wine, almost 1.5 glasses full. Definitely going back there next time we catch a ferry.

I swung through the other day and I was kind of having a rough go. Not only was she marvelous at her job, but Krystian managed to be a ray of sunshine in an otherwise gloomy day, and really made an impact.

Ordered Fish and Chips and I couldn t finish them. They re soggy and just kinda gross. Don t waste your money.

I had the calamari, friends had the fish and chips. Both were good. The drink selection is solid, and the wait staff was very friendly while we were there. I love this place, its definitely a cozy reminder of home for me as I travel through to the coast. There are plenty of nice places on the shorefront, dont sleep on this place. It has history, and good people.

This place is better now. Come on a sunday for the sunday roast served in a yorkshire pudding. It tasted good but a bit too much gravy. It is not a full sunday roast like in England that usually comes with roast potatoes. There was mashed potatoes hidden under the meat and gravy. It came with few vegetables on the side. It is good they still have full british pints which is becoming rare in Vancouver.

Went for Super Bowl while waiting for the ferry. Sat at the bar and had some wings, had better butb no complaints.. Nice beer selection, wife had calamari, she liked it, would go back

Didnt expect this the first time we visited, but this place consistently knocks it out of the park with delicious, from scratch dishes befitting any modern pub. Highly recommend trying ANY of their food along with your drink. Great gluten free options (for those who have to), and possibly the BEST fried chicken burger (not pictured) and Yorkshire pudding in BC... Portion and price for quality cant be beat these days! A hidden gem we make a point to come back to on the regular.

I went in last Sunday for some drinks during happy hour. I had an amazing server who was attentive and super fun, she recommended the chilli chicken bites and they were delicious. Also a great selection of drinks on the happy menu. This is definitely gonna be my new spot to go while waiting for the ferry

This was one of the tastiest foods Ive ever had. The customer service was above and beyond. A very welcoming environment overall. The view from our booth was spectacular. I definitely would recommend this place for quality food & service :)

Had a short wait before my ferry and I was craving some soup. They had a daily special available w. Grilled cheese and Beef barley soup. So glad I stopped by. Eventhough it is fairly busy with the lunch and ferry crowd. The Bartender was fast to get my order and got everything I needed ready to go cause I was short on time. Good was good and affordable. The service was to remember and made my life easier! Grateful!

Grab some off sales and take them to the Sunshine Coast with you ... Or to Nanaimo... Ah hell if you dont know which way then just stay for another round! The best Nashville chicken sandwich in town! I also cant leave out the chicken Bahn MI tacos with pickled onions, cilantro and spicy gochu jeng sauce. They are mouthwatering, a triple fusion of flavours that will take you on a tangy, taste bud vacation. Staff is absolutely great and theres a solid drink selection, with the tap list supporting local breweries; Philips, Backcountry, Persephone, Parkside, Rewind, Howe Sound Brewing, and the owners very own 101 Brewhouse + Distillery

Wouldn t let our party of two sit outside because they were waiting for larger parties to show up , sat us under loud speakers playing the usual top 40 inanity, then sat the next couple to come in minutes later outside, at their request and they also got drink service before we were acknowledged again at our table thanks for the service frens.

Pretty darn good pub food. Nice selection of beers. Patio is nice on a sunny day, but seating indoors - aside from booths - isnt too comfortable. I keep returning because of its a nice place to get a bite and a beverage while waiting on a ferry.

We went for a snack before our boat ride to Nanaimo, the service was impeccable, the beer selection was very good and the food was delicious.

Great place to get a drink and something to eat while waiting for a ferry. If your looking for a food recommendation I suggest the California Chicken Burger or the Bahn MI Tacos.

Given that there are fee options youd think youd need low expectations, but this place is constantly good. Always nice to grab a beer before a ferry ride.

Super friendly staff and amazing food!

Had a pretty good lunch here. But they need to stop with the shredded iceberg lettuce (soggy, no taste or nutrition), and come up with a dressing that makes sense for the tuna salad (which was otherwise tasty).

Excellent food, atmosphere. The pulled pork sandwiches were so tasty! The soup of the day was made to perfection.

We love the troller as a neighbourhoods hangout or spot when you are waiting for the ferry. They have really elevated their drinks and food over the last year or 2. We had the california chicken sandwich and fish tacos 10/10. Great cesaras too. Its a chill pub vibe with pub food, satisfying and reliable.

The food was very good. Very tasty. I ordered the daily special and it was excellent value. The service however was not so good. I waited on the server for quite awhile. I then asked the bartender if he could send someone over. I got my own drink from the bartender. I finally asked one of the girls who my server is and she pointed out my server. She never even looked at me. She was attentive to the two tables adjacent to mine, but wouldnt even acknowledge me. Maybe she doesnt like senior citizens, I dont know. It was weird.

Outstanding service! We sat at the bar and Peter the bartender is an absolute rockstar. It was very busy and he not only provided excellent service, but made you feel like you were his only customers. Quite a knack .well done!

Fish & Chips custom with Caesar salad, add prawns, split for two... Affordably on point and very well prepared. The croutons for a change were more than palatable considering what I normally am served from most other establishments.

The Ale house wasnt busy, but the patio server seemed distracted and was quite forgetful. Other staff members were delivering her orders but hadnt been directed where to go. So they were asking every individual on the patio. Simple fix, assign numbers to tables and seats and have them printed on receipt slips to prevent this from happening. Also the sand patio glass is filthy, covered in food and beer splater... Perhaps someone could pickup a washcloth in their free time....

They don t serve food in the evenings. Why not just keep the kitchen going with this many late ferry delays. More money and more happy customers.

We were a little disappointed. Food prices are quite expensive, but the portions are not enough. I had the fish tacos, just 2 tiny tacos, and they were not tasty as well. Service was great, but on a busy and sunny Saturday, they were understaffed.

Had a great shared meal - burger and fries: char broiled flavourful and very good. Beer selection is strong. Good place for a quick meal and drink. Seasonal cheesecake was extraordinary and very reasonably priced!

Had the chicken soup/grilled bacon cheese sandwich special which was very good value at $16 and quite yummy also. Had to pass the time having a late lunch as I just missed my ferry (yep its a regular thing). But beautiful sunny day so all good! Very friendly staff and quick service.

Mar11th Friday Night. 9pm there were three people drinking inside but the door was locked. I checked their website, and It says open til 10pm on Friday. I called them and they answered we are open for only drinks, but the kitchen is close I went there again and It is closed. and the three guy(I guess staffs?? ) is still drinking inside. I called them again and no answer haha. Thank u

The chairs are so uncomfortable, no brunch menu on weekends, sub par service. Never again.

I was very satisfied with today s lunch! Because all experiences are good. The staff are friendly and the food is very delicious. The AHI Tuna Burger is stuffed with a thick piece of whole fresh tuna, tomato slices and some crunchy things. How can this kind of burger be an unhealthy food? And super delicious! The after-dinner dessert, Sticky Toffee Pudding, was sweet but not greasy. I was worried that I wouldnt be able to finish it, but I fell in love with it after taking the first bite and finished it without realizing it. I really loved it! In addition, the bathroom is very clean. So based on my experience, I will give this restaurant a super 5 stars.

Has been good in the past. Hit or miss with the service. It seems the last few times the restaurant is very unorganized. Hostess was sitting tables record speed and the waitress was not serving tables in order. We sat for about 15 minutes with tables all around us being served that sat after, and just left. Definitely needs some proper management and communication between server/hostess.

I was very surprised on the food quality and portion sizes of this place... Definitely worth checking out.

Chose this place because we arrived late and everything thing else was closed or closing. Food was mediocre. I ordered the French dip; the meat was tough and flavourless. The au jus dip was also lacking in flavour and room temperature. Sometimes, you just eat the meal instead of telling the wait staff because you are so hungry and dont want to wait for a replacement meal! The side salad was good.

Easy to park and walk around. Some beer on tap and some nice fish tacos and Ruben sandwiches. A tray of mixed wi gs was good.

Food is amazing! I can never get enough of the Yorkshire Pudding dinner. Friendly and attentive service from being seated to served. Have been here with groups big and small, staff are always great. Whether it s a nice night in the summer, rainy Vancouver day or big ferry rush, staff are always smiling and food is always delicious.

Sat at the bar good service tuna boat was good service was good calamari was mostly small pieces and is ok. The dragon boat is a nice light snack but the stuffed York will be the next thing to try saw it and looks great.

They have a great new chicken burger on the menu and they had a good dark beer too, so two things I really like!

Happy Hour beer was okay but we ordered a plate of nachos and they were the worst nachos I have ever had - lots of chips very few fillings - a slight scattering of black beans, extremely sour pickled peppers and sparse cheese. Generous portion of salsa, guacamole and sour cream. Had to ask for spoons for the sauces, and also for napkins. Won t go back. There are better places in Horseshoe Bay to kill time waiting for the ferry.

The best food anywhere! Free street parking for 2 hours. The Yellowfin tuna burger was fantastic with the freshest Caesar salad Ive had in years. The fish & chips has no thick coating. Awesome soft corn fish tacos. Best beef dip anywhere,filled evenly end to end & the dip wasnt salty. Id give 7 stars all around for service & food!! Try them out!!

Best fish taco

I used to be a regular customer, the fish tacos were great. This last visit my 4 tacos became 2 tacos. I was told it was the same amount of food, but 2 bigger tacos. There is no way the filling was the same. There was a tiny amount of filling on each taco and I felt like I was eating 2 raw and empty tacos - like dust. I was also starving when I finished them. Not going back.

Understaffed. Underwelmed staff. Small portion of salad. Passionate commitment to Latvia vs Slovakia on the tv. But what else are you going to do when waiting for a ferry?

Great little Pub!

My wife and I and several friends dropped by for drinks and food. Our preferred watering hole was full, so we decided on an alternative. Took a while to be seated, estimated at 15 minutes. Finally got someones attention and were led to our seats. Once again we waited for service and had to request for some service. A server appeared and over a period of another 15 minutes or so, brought us our drinks. Two other tables next to us were then occupied and received the drinks within minutes. We ordered food and I kid you not, it took so long that the only conclusion reached was that our food order had not been placed. The other 2 tables had received their food order while we waited. Three members of our group of 8 had to leave due to the delay! It was a disappointing experience to say the least, much worse than our experience 1.5 years ago when we were also not overly excited about the service. Granted some of the staff were new and the place was busy this time but waiting over an hour for our food order was way beyond acceptable. Its too bad that this establishment has such challenges, so much so that we will not return for a third attempt. I dont usually write reviews about negative experiences so I hope that management can work to improve the quality of service and make efforts to train the servers more diligently. Great location, nice venue but they have some challenges to address.

We showed up, it was not terribly busy. I kindly mentioned we were on a time crunch because of the ferry. We Sat down waited 10 minutes and still no one asked us for a drink choice or our orders. I then had to ask the server if she could take our order. waited almost 30 minutes and still no food so I had to get up again and ask to instead have it put in a to go box. unfortunate as the food was decent. not a fan of paying for pricy food and having to ask for some attention.
