Celebrated restaurant overlooking Downtown & the inlet featuring local seafood & aboriginal art.
The Salmon House in West Vancouver offers stunning views of the city, creating a beautiful ambiance that's perfect for a special night out. The tasteful decor and interior design truly enhance the dining experience. I highly recommend making a reservation, especially during peak hours. While the food was decent, I have to admit that the seafood chowder was a bit disappointing. I was expecting a rich, creamy clam chowder, but the taste was just okay and didn't quite meet my expectations. One thing that caught me off guard was the $7 charge for the bread basket. Most other restaurants provide this complimentary, so it felt a bit off to pay for something that is typically included. On a positive note, the Alder Grilled Salmon Trio was fantastic—definitely the highlight of the meal! The Alder Grilled Beef Tenderloin was just okay; it was cooked more to medium than the medium rare I had requested. Desserts were a delightful finish to the meal. The Affogato and the honey and rosemary crème brûlée were both excellent! Overall, while there were a few misses, the ambiance and some standout dishes make the Salmon House worth a visit, especially for the views. Just keep in mind to manage your expectations with some of the menu items.
A favorite each time we return to Vancouver. Unbelievably beautiful views. Excellent seafood choices. Delicious meals. Attentive servers.
Salmon House on the Hill is as its name suggests, perched high on top of a hill in West Vancouver. The view from this restaurant is breathtaking and it would be challenging indeed to find another restaurant with comparable views to the ones found at Salmon House on the Hill. Featured here: Salmon House Seafood Chowder Salmon House Sampler Alder Grilled Salmon Trio Dark Chocolate Lava Cake Affogato Did I mention how great the view is from this place? The food here is way overpriced so it's really the view that you're paying for when you come here. The Seafood Chowder was a very tasty soup but really not our idea of a chowder. Chowders are usually thicker whereas this consisted of a thin, light broth. It was a wonderful soup and the light broth was perhaps better for our stomachs than a typical chowder would have been. Just that it didn't quite fit our concept of a chowder. Some of us found the salmon to be a bit overcooked. The restaurant was good enough to have the kitchen cook another order of it for one of us (only one of us dared to complain about it), and they didn't charge us for the first order. The second one was an improvement, but could have still been a bit more moist. One person in our group who has a nut allergy began to have a bit of an allergic reaction to something he ate. After consulting with our server who then went and checked with the kitchen it was discovered that pecans had been used to make a sauce that had been on top of his food. The restaurant apologized and didn't charge us for this dish either. It's really quite surprising that they didn't think to list the pecans on their menu. When so many people in the world have nut allergies, it should be standard procedure for any restaurant that uses nuts, to list those nuts on the menu. This would enable customers with nut allergies to make more informed decisions when choosing what they'd like to order from the menu. Oh, and the Dark Chocolate Lava Cake wasn't very Lava-ish. Having already deducted two entrees from our bill though, we weren't about to go and make a fuss about the Lava Cake. Service: Good Parking: Plentiful and free Location: 2229 Folkestone Way, West Vancouver, BC
One of the BEST and underrated restaurants for food and view jn the city. We come all the way from Langley for this incredible service and seafood. My partner doesn’t enjoy steak unless it’s here ! We’ve previously tried scallops, prawns, crab, lobster, risotto, steak and every single thing is a perfect 10.
Good food, and lovely service. Their specialty of the day was their halibut which was very tasty. Our friends shared their seafood tower and they loved it! We will definitely go back!
Seafood tower for two is so fun for a date/celebration! Everything tasted great, some things were particularly spectacular like the in-house candied salmon, the crab salsa, the butter for lobster and the sauce for the oysters. The view can’t be beat too. Service was the best I have had in a really long time. I’m really surprised that I have lived here for so long yet never heard of this place. Give it a try if you haven’t yet!
It's been years since we've eaten dinner here, went here for Valentine's dinner. They had a fabulous set menu, all were delicious and the special hibiscus margarita was awesome. ❤️ Always a great experience eating here, wish we were sitting by the window but it's still ok. Great view of Vancouver!
Update September 2024: Beautiful night, excellent service. The lemon-pesto salmon dish was fantastic, and the salmon was cooked to perfection. The Affogato dessert with delish cookies and Baileys was amazing, the ideal sweet finish. They're likely open into late 2025, make sure you stop in! --- August 2021: Pricey but excellent service and delicious food. Ideal for special occasions and out-of-town guests. Salmon Wellington is wonderful!
Food was unbelievable the atmosphere and the view were amazing. The waiter spilled my wine glass all over my shirt. Didn t offer to cover the meal or anything and he got an automatic gratuity of $300 not too happy about it.
No better place for seafood and the view and service always topnof the heap!
Have eaten here several times over the last 5 years. Lovely slightly smoky west coast atmosphere, very welcoming on the typical dismal wet evening that is common in this part of the world. This time the food seemed less good than on previous visits to the point of seeming like bad value. Also the server forgot our appetizer, though she was very apologetic about it.
Fabulous birthday dinner with some friends! Lovely service! Beautiful celebration
Fresh and tasty
The recipe in unique, you can try new tastes here
If you are looking for a quiet, relaxing, and romantic place to have dinner this place is it. The furniture is definitely aged but the experience was not. Food was amazing and service was great,
My favourite restaurant in town!
Food is really good
I enjoyed every bit of my experience at Salmon House On The Hill. Our server knew how to help me avoid gluten, and she was helpful throughout the meal. Our meals were exceptionally well designed and executed. The spectacular view topped it off! Dietary restrictions: They have a good selection of gluten free options including desserts.
Great place good food. Incredible views Definitely worth trying Food
Amazing spot!! An absolute must if heading to or from Vancouver to Squamish or Whistler. Sooo good! Went twice during our week out west. Get whatever the daily special is! Food
We ordered the selfish set! It s so enough for two people, maybe order that with three people and order some meat!
The service was great, the food was awesome and, the view was great. Chef is kinda cute Food
Fantastic view and amazing food. The prices are a tiny upscale but really affordable still. The waitress was very accomodating Food
One of the premier restaurants in Vancouver ..great food great views on a clear day great service
An outdated old school restaurant. Old-fashioned cuisine, service not customer-oriented. The view of Vancouver is incredibly beautiful. Unfortunately you can only see this through dirty windows. Our request to go to the terrace to take photos was rejected. Even after paying the bill, which was very high even for Vancouver and disproportionate to the service, it was impossible to take a photo of Vancouver at night on the freely accessible terrace. The passages were blocked with thick chains. The whole restaurant and customer friendliness was a completely overpriced disappointment. I can only advise against this restaurant.
Sensational food, very good service, unique view over Vancouver! Also quite inexpensive. Parking: Right in front of the house.
We went there to celebrate a birthday. Food was very bland....wild salmon main dish was overcooked, halibut had no taste and texture was like wet paper. Dungeness crab(over $100) was fresh but lacking flavour. They charged us for bread without telling us....we have been to many high end restaurants downtown, we were never charged for bread offered before main meals to arrive. Service was slow and not attentive enough. they did nothing about birthday, not a little thing to offer to the birthday person when we paid $300. very disappointed. We wont be back.
Very nice food and kind service
This place will be demolished in a few months.
Great spot with stunning view of the entire city. Fine dining with a West Coast flair. Make sure you book soon because the area is changing to accommodate housing soon.
This Has got To be the nicest restaurant in town with the best view.Only the food supersedes the view. And nice people working there.
Great food, extremely slow service .waiter Ignored us after dropping off the mains.
Amazing experience, delicious food.
Great views overlooking Vancouver along with a good selection of seafood dishes.
Great View, friendly staff, great experience.
Amazing food amazing view bit high on the price.
The food is delicious! The scenery definitely ranks among the top five in the Greater Vancouver area! Thats the business hours. Its not open at noon, and its not open on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Wonderful, peaceful, romantic. We had the oysters and scallops to start, followed by sable fish and beef, yes, I know beef. All very nice. Our server Maria was all one could wish for.
March 31, 2024 went to this WONDERFUL restaurant that I visited 30 years ago. It STILL HAS IT scrumptious seafood, impeccable service (Christian was great) and the cleanest washrooms in town. The cosy wood interior and lovely curated artworks as well as the warm, caring and attentive staff made for a MOST MEMORABLE EASTER FEAST. My family HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS FANTASTIC RESTAURANT. I would give it ten stars out of a possible five stars if I could. It is only a very short drive over the Lion s Gate Bridge so it is an easy drive for Vancouverites and WELL WORTH IT!
Absolutely sublime meals. The Halibut was like tasting a dream. Incredible view, awesome decor, smells like a log cabin, excellent service, an experience we will talk about for years to come
Its ok. Its what you expect. The portions were amazing, salmon cooked professionally, the rice with shrimp was an amazing touch. And the red wine was perfect.b(syrah). We will be back!
The salmon dish was excellent. The night view from the hill made the food even more delicious. The staff were also kind and helpful, helping us find wines that would go well with the dishes.
I love thé fact that the Japanese owner still owns and runs this place. Met him years ago and thought he was a nice man. That was when we were all younger and he was sitting in a coffee shop. My family seems to like coming here for special occasions and I myself seem to find myself here at least twice a year. The classical salmon house menu has served them well. The view is always outstanding and with one exception (the spring rolls came a bit burnt) everything else was good. Nice solid place to take a date or family meals. I am excited for the new one when they build it.
Always reliable and very consistent.
Nice restaurant.
Ive never had a bad meal here and the place has been here since the mid 1970s. The views are spectacular, and most tables have excellent views. Reasonable prices
A very popular spot with a nice atmosphere. Great food but the menu hasnt changed much in years. Food is still excellent and the wait staff is quite attentive.
Dessert is a must try! Oyster is fresh with special flavor. Romantic vibe too!
Great place for seafood and amazing views of the city and water.
This is my familys favorite dining place. By far, better than any restaurant in Vancouver. Offers greet service, Delicious food and beautiful View.
We sent this letter of appreciation to Salmon House and wanted to share it publicly as our review as well: On behalf of our entire family, thank you for making our mother/grandmothers celebration of life such a special and memorable event for all of us. We firstly really appreciate you reaching out to us in such a timely manner to help organize on the fly such an important event, which my gran had specified in her final wishes. My grandparents had frequented Salmon House on and off for the better part of two decades until my grandfather passed in 2006. It was their lunch date place, and they always had such fond memories there. They held the occasional family function at Salmon House, so we all got to enjoy your great restaurant from time to time. Being able to hold the celebration of life for my gran was really perfect. From the time we arrived to catch the sunset over Vancouver, to the layout of the room, and the exceptional service provided by Maria, our server, yourself, the bartender, and busboy (my apologies, we didnt get the names of the latter two staff but they were equally phenomenal) was simply superb. Our guests - family, my grandmothers caregivers (who are like family to us), and close family friends of my grandmothers and ours - were just in awe about how well the evening went, in no small part thanks to Maria and the team, the kitchen who prepared such an amazing meal for us (we still have people calling up to reminisce about their dishes), and the most agreeable atmosphere that Salmon House exudes. Thank you all for creating such a positive experience for all of us. There were no tears, only laughter and love, and deep heartfelt emotions. My grandmother would have loved it, and, really, we all felt her presence there in the most wonderful way. From all of us to all of you at Salmon House, thank you. With deepest appreciation and respect, Alexandra Hejduk (granddaughter) Cristina Hejduk (daughter)
Really nice place to have a relaxing lunch or dinner.
A great place for a special birthday celebration
Have not been here in over 10 years but glad I came the service was great the food was wonderful and the view is as amazing as ever. Our server Jose was wonderful as well.
I came back from Whistler last night and came here directly without even going home. Every dish is exquisite and delicious, and it s always new when you eat it!
Excellent food and great views
One of my favorite seafood restaurant in Vancouver. Good food, good service and great view.
Very nice place and service. The food is also very good: We ordered a salmon house seafood chowder soup to share between two (very good, in fact the baby tried it and already wanted it for herself) and for the main course a seafood tower for two (very delicious). We got quite full. For the baby we ordered a wild salmon from the childrens menu and we were surprised by how vast it was, it looked like an adult dish, and it was also really very delicious. (The photo is of the seafood tower. Too bad I took it in the middle of the meal)
What can I say... love this place!
This is where you take them for Valentines Day. The view is gorgeous. I asked for a change due to my diet and it wasnt an issue. Best service! Dietary restrictions: Allergy warning: This place serves mostly fish and shellfish. Some keto friendly dishes. Kid-friendliness: There was a baby there when we went and they provided a highchair.
Ive lived in the Fraser Valley for 42 years and this was my first time at The Salmon House. Ive only ever heard great things, and they surely lived up to expectations. My son who is a picky eater loved his kids papperdelle. My husband and I shared the Clam Chowder, Dungeness crab and mushroom risotto, and of course, the Seafood Tower. The atmosphere is like no other. It is unique and gorgeous. The service was exceptional and our waitress was attentive. Kid-friendliness: Kids menu available.
A unbelievable date location for those who enjoy seafood. We had the seafood tower and it was magnificent and basically a perfect amount of food if you go in hungry. Parking: Great parking.
Had the seafood tower and it was incredible!
Went here for Valentine s dinner earlier this month. Others I spoke to have mentioned they re quality has declined over the past years but I thought their longevity in the business was an indication they were doing something right so I gave it a try. Set menu, $105 per person plus 18% gratuity plus tax. We were both quite disappointed. Food was salty, parts over cooked, and service was slow. I would have assumed that with a set menu they would be more dialed in, however service was also slow, with 15-25 min wait between after finishing each course. Not sure if gratuity auto built in was their excuse to offer sub par service but it was disappointing. Many other better options in the area; feels like they are using their past fame to deliver mediocre service in the present.
We went here for Valentine s dinner it was amazing going to go again! Service was excellent. So happy we tried them out
Excellent food, great ambience. Must try the salmon trio. The oysters are the best I ve had.
Food id good but too expensive. Nice view of the sunset.
I hadnt gone to the salmon house for many years because of previous experience. They have really stepped up their game. The food was excellent, and the service was amazing.
Went for the view at the best time, when they are closed.
Great ambience, good food, it was a bit under staffed for the night that we went. Overall felt great, a bit on the pricier side.
75th birthday dinner. Excellent good and service.
Simply scintillating and mouth watering experience!! Hands down, a pescetarian paradise both in terms of food and service. Will be visiting again when in town.
The Salmon House has been around for a long time. That speaks to the quality of the food that keeps their doors open while restaurants rise and fall in Lower Mainland. In fact, I remember my dad telling me that when he worked in the factory, the workers used to save up scrap metal to sell to the scrap yard so the money can cover a meal at a nice restaurant for all of them to share. I distinctly recall my dad speaking highly about his meal here. While I had no idea where this restaurant was originally, I always remembered its name. It was time I saw what my dad was talking about, so a reservation was made. Dont let the exterior design fool you. Inside, the restaurant was beautifully highlighted by cedar and single-figured Haida Totem Poles. It did not feel dated in any way. The tall windows faced the ocean and Vancouver, giving patrons a beautiful view. I noticed the unused patio area, which I imagine would be fantastic for the summer. I definitely want to come back in the summer for a meal outside. The surrounding forrest air and the nearby ocean must bring an incomparable dining experience! The Alder Smoked Sablefish caught my eye. Our servers confirmed that it was his favorite dish on the menu. My wife chose the Lobster Pappardelle, and my aunt got the Alder Grilled Salmon Trio. My wife also got half-dozen Fresh Local Oysters. I got the Salmon House Sampler to share. Finally, the kids got the Kids Chicken Fingers with Fries. My wife enjoyed her Fresh Oysters. I cant imagine Salmon House failing on this dish, especially being so close to the ocean and in world-renowned Vancouver. The Salmon House Sampler was beautifully presented. The Sweet Soy Prawn Springroll was crispy with a hint of ginger. The apple slaw paired well with it. The Seared Scallop with French Lentil Ragout was delicious and delicate. The flavors danced in my mouth. Finally, the Sesame Seared Tuna was perfectly done and could be a main course by itself. We all exclaimed about the flavors and texture of the tuna. My Alder Smoked Sablefish was one of the best sablefish meals that I have ever had. The Sablefish was so buttery smooth. The lingering smoke flavor complemented the fish so well. This dish alone is enough to make me a repeat customer. 100% recommend the Alder Smoked Sablefish! I had a bite of my wifes Lobster Pappardelle and was surprised at the lightness of the white cream pasta. Normally, I find that white-based pasta to be too heavy, but this was OK. The lobster pieces were fair and cooked perfectly. Still, this dish can not compare to the sablefish. My aunt got the Alder Grilled Salmon Trio, which came with a generous portion of salmon overall. I got a bite, and the salmon pieces were cooked just right, though still pales in comparison to the Sablefish. Get the Sablefish!! For dessert, we shared the Affogato and the Dark Chocolate Lava Cake. Both were hits among us and cemented the awesome experience we had at Salmon House. Kid-friendliness: Kids Menu
Delicious!!
We didnt like the food very much. The steak was in a sauce that was too salty to me. The halibut dish was in a sauce that was also the side dipping sauce for salmon roles, too much citrus-taste for having your whole food in it. But my biggest issue was that when it was 5 degrees outside, there were cold air circulating above our heads. All our party expressed that they were cold and our LO caught a cold. They said its because of their salmon bbq pit that they need to run them to remove the pit polutants and assured us that they will be off soon. But it never went off.
Really great place , real food , great atmosphere, great views of Vancouver . Highly recommend for any occasion!!
Food was on a bit of the saltier end but the service and view was amazing.
Amazing food. Great selection. A great kids meal with great fries. The staff is super nice and its quick. Atmosphere feels very cozy
What a beautiful spot! Dinner was Lemon Parsley Pesto Salmon and Asparagus, Mushroom, Spinach and Gnocchi. Very friendly staff and the food was delicious! Highly recommend. Recommended dishes Lemon Parsley Pesto Crusted Wild Sockeye Salmon
I reserved a seat a week ahead for a date night. When we arrived, they didnt offer us a table beside the windows, instead we were located on booth, not even near the windows. Tell me then, whats the point of booking then?!
Great food and service. Beautiful view.
The Salmon Trio was ridiculously delicious. A must try entree.
Lovely view and ambiance. Had the seafood bouillabaise in coconut thai curry. It was delicious. Just wish the A/C forced air wasnt blasting so strong by our window seat. Other than that, it was a beautiful evening.
Wow, the food was delicious. The oysters were great. The salmon, the ciopino, and even the dessert were wonderful
Certainly very tasty, fresh fish, adequate portions. I tried the risotto with shrimps and the salmon trio, I recommend it. You must reserve a table before coming
First restaurant Ive been to in a long time where when I sat in the chair it was actually comfortable! People seem to forget how important comfortable seating is, and it was a big part of what made the evening out so successful. The ambience was very good. Nice to also be able to have a conversation with someone without having to yell at each other and struggle to hear because of the noise bouncing off the floors and the walls. Whatever they have done to this place youre not having to put up with such a din! The service was great. Zero complaints there. Our small party had one fussy eater, and one with a couple of very serious allergies. The server and the kitchen staff were very accommodating. We all had a different meal. The halibut, which was perfectly cooked in this wonderfully delicious very light basil sauce, and came with fingerling potatoes. The duck was had by another, very much enjoyed although felt she should have asked for it cooked medium as opposed to medium rare. As she found it just a little bit chewy. A minor complaint thats all it was. The rack of lamb was a fabulous looking dish and a good size portion. The only complaint that would be had with that, was it came with fries as opposed to the potatoes, it would have been nice to be given the option. At best, the fries were okay, the potatoes were far Superior. So all in all it was an excellent meal. Again the only thing I would say on a constructive level, would be they should have asked if one would like fries or potatoes with the rack of lamb. If they continue to serve fries, they need to make them slightly fatter and deep fry them a little bit less. They were very crispy. Vegetarian options: Not a lot of vegetarian options unless you are a vegetarian that eats fish. If you dont eat fish I wouldnt recommend coming here. Dietary restrictions: Very good working with food allergies. Parking: I didnt count the number of parking spots, but there was basically two lots. One directly in front of the restaurant with some wheelchair parking there, and another closer to the entrance where you drive in. It seemed as though there was an appointment, and even if you have minor difficulty walking I think it would be relatively easy to park anywhere and get to the restaurant.
Great service and yummy food
A bit expensive, but everything worth the money!
Went for my husbands 56th Birthday and was severely disappointed in the food. Atmosphere and service felt top notch, however this is fine dinning with apparently chef quality food and way above average price. The salmon butter was so fishy tasting I couldn t even eat it, the salads we had were tasty and the best part of the meal honestly. For my main I ordered the lobster pappardelle with asparagus and baby tomato, the pasta was cooked perfectly but the sauce was just a watery bland mess and the asparagus and tomatoes were barely cooked and the whole thing was just off putting. The lobster was fresh tasting at least but the texture of the vegetables ruined the dish for me, I asked to have it re done as the vegetables were raw and it came back the same way minus the few pieces of lobster I had already eaten, at $68 I m shocked that the dish was not completely re made for me. My husband had the gnocchi and it was the same, raw asparagus and not much flavour to the sauce. The best part was at the end of the meal we ordered coffees and a dessert to share and I asked if I could get an extra scoop of ice cream with it, only to be charged $4.75 for it, after tip we spent $330 for two people and I feel like I ve had better food at a chain restaurant, sadly I think this is our last visit here as it felt like such a waste of money.
Good food and a view to die for. Took my mom for her birthday and she was throughly please.
Had the salmon trio and it was excellent. I asked the waitress what the difference was between sockeye, coho, and chinook salmon and she gave a most excellent description, so I had to try all three. I have not had such a great meal and great service in a long time. Worth every penny. Would highly recommend.
Some restaurants just make perfect dining seem so easy. Salmon House has it ALL figured out: amazing food, wine list, ambiance, views
A lovely restaurant and a great meal. It lives up to its name. Would be an amazing view in the daylight.
Excellent dining experience. Food was incredible, as was the service.
A fabuloys location. Off Chippendale Road in West Vanouver with views of English Bay and downtown Vancouver. Spectacular. The service was amazing. Really knowledgeable and helpful server. Really offered us a clinic. I cant day enough about how professional and helpful he was. I had salmon with pesto and enjoyed it. The others had salmon three ways and thought it was OK, but not remarkable. The samon was a little over-cooked. The others shared a sea food tower and said it was good. The desserts were good - creme brule and a pecan tart. It was a nice night.
one of the best views in the city. Beautiful place. Im a foodie and the mashed potato was my hit (and Im not a big fan of potato!). Everything was incredibly delicious and the service impecable. Update Oct 8, 2023 This place is amazing. One of the must go to, when having friends from abroad visiting. The food is delicious, service outstanding and atmosphere really enjoyable.
Salmon House on the Hill is a fine dining experience so is on the higher end for cost but its worth it. The servers are excellent, the view is amazing and the food is absolutely delicious! My only pet peeve is that, at the price of the wine and food, if you want bread, they charge you for a small basket of it. My family and I feel that it should come free with the meal.
Celebrated my birthday dinner here. The dinner, drinks, dessert, ambiance, service: All first class! Please patronize this amazing restaurant!
My place to go
Fabulous views, good food, topnotch service.
Everything was delicious
Had a perfect evening with my love for his birthday!
This is one of Vancouvers OG restaurants. Most days it has a great view. Contemporary West Coast cuisine with an emphasis on Alder grilled seafood. The seafood tower is a great shareable choice. The alder grilled salmon trio is a good sampler choice. They have an extensive wine list and the desserts are excellent
A family favorite restaurant for over 30 years. I have to admit that I have not returned here for a few years but my last visit a few days back brought back memories. The food was as good as I remembered and our server Christian was the best. We had the seafood tower, the risotto with yummy asparagus, the bread with salmon butter and desserts.
The atmosphere was really nice. The view out the window was warm and pretty. The food was fresh and not too salty, and the sauces were especially flavorful. If you make a reservation and sit by the window, you will be able to enjoy an even more romantic evening
Celebrated my husbands birthday and a perfect evening. Great food, the best service and the ambience only added to the experience.
Amazing food and service . Going back for Valentines dinner.
Amazing place with delicious food!
Great experience. Delicious food and comfortable environment. Recommended to special occasions like valentines day
Good food, good service, great view.
Hands down my favourite restaurant on the North Shore. We go there for all special occasions. Amazing food, ambience, wine list and views. Cant say enough!
Horrible food tasteless and service was a truly disappointment
I wish I could give 10 stars! We love a lot of restaurants but this is by far our favorite. My husband and I come here for all of our special occasion dinners. We know we re always going to have the best tasting food, wine and most of all amazing service. They have long term, very friendly staff. Their view is to die for and the atmosphere is welcoming and romantic.
The food was disappointing Go there for the view, drinks and service. We all ordered a fish dish, salmon, salmon trio, halibut special, and all were overcooked. There s no excuse for this as a place that specializes in fish. The service was fantastic however, and so was the view and the drinks.
Everything is incroyable
Fantastic view and excellent food. Would love to go back again when there next.
The food was too expensive compared to the quality. They cut the birthday cake and charge $3 per person. There were 8 of us, so we had to pay $24 and be careful before taking our order. We thought we only paid $3 for cake cutting. This is a complete rip-off. In addition, bread was an additional charge, and the tip was charged at a fixed rate of 18% with no choice. I dont want to come back to this overpriced restaurant. It didnt have the charm to keep customers coming back. I dont want to recommend it.
Beautiful ambiance, view!!! Type work also great food!! Thank you, so proud
Beatiful venue and great food. Staff were very kind and all went out of their way to make it a wonderful experience.
Salmon House is very classy, known for its view of English Bay, and, serves exquisite seafood based meals. I had the Salmon Trio with Shrimp Risotto and it was perfection. Great for special occasions..or just a memorable time! Bon appetite!
Tried the French Halibut special today. Very delicious!! The fish is tender with light sauce and vegetables ( the mango!) even it was raining but I could still see the DT view. Indigenous arts make this place even more interesting. I should take pictures next time for our dishes!
What Happened to the Salmon House? My husband and I have been regular customers of the Salmon House for the last 10 years. So many special occasions have been celebrated here including pregnancy news, birthdays, anniversaries and it has always been viewed as our special restaurant. We went out for dinner last night after having a babysitter for the first time in a year and the whole experience was completely underwhelming. Our server was fine but nowhere near the Salmon Houses usual standards of stellar professional servers who add to the evening. She seemed as if she did not want to be there. We asked for our meal to be sent in slow stages to savor the time away and first two appetizers came together immediately. Ok no problem - although caesar salad would have been better eaten on its own before being presented with a hot appetizer. She had assured us our main would come after being requested but no sooner had the dishes cleared our main was on the table. The restaurant was not busy so really no need to scoot us out in 45 minutes. Besides the disappointing service - the current state of inflation was not hidden at all. Prices have increased but portions are nowhere near what they used to be. Salmon candy from the salmon house sampler eliminated. Butter and humous for bread (which is an additional surcharge) eliminated. Salmon - miniscule portion and even the vegetables have been reduced. Dessert - completely scaled back - less phylo, less fruit and even less to the sugar ornament which used to decorate half the plate for the cheesecake ravioli. The cosmos had nearly zero vodka in them and were an expensive glass of cranberry juice. Consumers understand how much prices have gone up and do expect to meet those increases on the menu but a restaurant like the salmon house should not be like the new box of cereal with a huge price increase but now half empty. Sadly, not sure all our memories at this restaurant will be enough to draw us back at the current state of operation.
My friend invited me to this spectacular place. We sat at a table by the window when it was a unique view. The food was very good and the service was excellent. If you want to get away from the city and and go to a magical place, I recommend it.
Great food and beautiful view.
Incredible food and atmosphere. Great service and prices also ....Highly recommend to anyone in the Vancouver area.
Friendly staff and good views. The restaurant wasnt too crowded and would have been nice if we had the window seat. The cocktails, main dish and dessert were good. Parking: Lots of parking in the front.
amazing view chowder was bland, halibut was under seasoned, tempura prawns was very tasty
good taste nice view
Very nice place best staff
We attended an anniversary dinner at Salmon House this summer and it was fabulous! We hadnt been there in years, and we have to say that everything was top notch. The restaurant itself has an incredible view which we forgot about and made us fall in love with Vancouver all over again. Combined with spectacular surroundings, the food and service were superb! Will definitely be back on our list of go to restaurants!!!!
nice view and good food but little bit expensive
Kid-friendliness: Fine Kids Menu
I think its a bit of a hidden gem because of location, but a great view with decent food.
The place to be when you want to taste delicious and high end food.
Outstanding Alder Grilled delights! Amazing views, and cozy atmosphere. Very consistent quality over the 30 plus years Ive been going there.
Professional v& friendly service, the steak & fish all good, certainly will back again.
Killer view. Average food. Below average service. Utterly unreasonable prices.
A great place to celebrate a special occasion with my fiancé! Enjoyed a fantastic culinary experience. Fresh sockeye and smoked sable fish were impressive. A wonderful celebration!
Excellent food, especially fish, prepared in delicious menus, very experienced and friendly staff and a nice view of Vancouver are the perfect ingredients for a great evening.
This crab dish was absolutely amazing and a hit with the kids. It is expensive to eat here but a treat for yourselves once in a while.
Delicious salmon and a terrific view. The staff was top-notch.
Great views and food but slow service.
The food was delicious BUT- our meal was extremely rushed so we cant recommend it as a fine dining experience. When we made the reservation we were told we would have the table for 2 hours, but they rushed us out in less than an hour. First of all, our cocktails, starter & appetizer arrived at the same time. We tried to savour our way through the started (before our cocktails got warm and the appetizer got cold), only to have them try to clear our plates before we were finished (in fact I still had clams in my dish & a fork in my hand). Moments after we finish our starter/appetizer, our entrees arrived (ahead of the wine we ordered to enjoy with our dinner). Again, they tried to clear my plate before I was finished (I was literally still chewing). Its extremely irritating to have to swallow food quickly in order to keep them from taking your meal. Then, as soon as the entree plates were cleared, the waitress arrived with the dessert menu. We still had half a bottle of wine left, so we passed on dessert and got our bill before we finished our wine. The entire dinner was pushed through in 45 minutes. We barely had time to talk, let alone take in the view or properly enjoy our meals. We were there for a special occasion and as delicious as the food was, it was a very disappointing dining experience. What a waste of a good view and a good chef!
I had not been here in a few years, and was terribly disappointed. Id had such good memories of the dining experience at this restaurant from previous visits. My dinner was completely flavourless. Perhaps it was my mistake not to order salmon, or even seafood, the house speciality, but for the prices, one expects every main dish to be superb. The salmon sampler appetizer was shockingly tiny. Wine portions similarly skimpy. It was a very special occasion, and had made a reservation for a table by the window but were brought to the second row of tables. They had the usual pre-set tipping rates at 15%, 18% and 20 -- tacky. You cant beat the location, the view, and the buildings interior, but the food is something below mediocre, so I wont be back -- for any occasion.
Delicious and with a beautiful view, excellent service.
Excellent and very friendly service, delicious food, very original combinations m
Good food, great views but slow service.
Fantastic restaurant, fantastic views of Vancouver, fantastic food. Our wedding menu with friends couldnt have been better.
First, there is NO better view of the sunset then from this restaurant. Its too bad the outdoor patio was closed that evening. Second, the food is very good...not quite the quality for the price but almost. I would definitely return, but not my go to place unless I. Showing off the city.
Great views . Nice ambiance. Friendly people here.
One of my favorite restaurants. The ambience was very nice and was overlooking Stanley park. We shared an appetizer of spring rolls was hot and tasty. The service was good. I had the Seafood Feast Bowl and it was delicious. My guest had the Alder Grilled Beef Tenderloin which was a little tough but tasty. Overall we enjoyed our evening. A must place to try when in Vancouver.
The dishes are very tasty. The furniture is of high quality. Delivery is excellent. And a very beautiful view.
a destination type restaurant . Quite frankly one of the best views of the city I can think of and the lunch was delicious .
The Food leaves me stuck for words every year are company comes here for are Christmas get together. Im always blown away. The food and service is AAA you will not be disappointed with you choice in this restaurant. I promise.
This is such a beautiful venue with fantastic service, a great menu, and most importantly a lovely wine selection! Dietary restrictions: One of our party is allergic to gluten and the staff were very accommodating!
The only upscale thing is food. But its sooo expensive! We split $500 between 4 people! No table cloth on tables, waiters have cheap uniform No real view when You sit at the table. You have to go outside to see Vancouver which is partially blocked by overgrown trees. One trip was enough. Will never come back there again.
The vegetables that came with my salmon were so tasty I could have done without the salmon but of course I ate it all. They even made fingerling potatoes taste delicious. The strawberry creme brulee was the best Ive had. You do need GPS to find it.
Loved it
My number one place for a nice meal in the Vancouver area. Has a warm, cabin like feel inside with a stunning view overlooking Vancouver. The food is always great and cooked perfectly.
Our company did their Christmas dinner here last night. The service was excellent, the food was fantastic and the views were awesome. We had an incredible night and enjoyed a 4 course menu that delighted all night.
a perfect place for fine dining with astounding skyline view of Vancouver! The reception and staff are amazing and made our big party a memorable event!
Fantastic seafood paella best Ive ever had. Rich and an abundance of seafood that was perfectly cooked.
