DO get the Cacio e Pepe sandwich with sexy potatoes. This dish should be on Montreal foodie tour must try lists. 10/10 banger. DONT get the chicken cutlet sandwich. Very boring 4/10. Clarkes and Bossa’s are much better.
Came here for a friend’s birthday, and it was perfect! We shared the breakfast croissant sandwich and the ricotta crostini—both were packed with flavor. I especially loved the combination of ricotta, goat cheese, and fig jam on the crostini. That said, $16 for just a piece of toast felt a bit steep. We also shared the pancakes with the group. The orange zest sauce was absolutely delicious, though the texture of the pancakes was a little dry. Thankfully, there was plenty of maple syrup to make up for it. The atmosphere was really pleasant, and I’d love to come back to try their lunch menu.
Johannes your cappuccino is fabulous! Awesome foam it’s so good not a bubble in it! Thanks Mike for being such a great host and making sure I’m comfortable outside and putting the heaters on. Anna love to see your welcoming smile
Been to Gentile for several years, even when I worked near Chabanel. The food is always delicious with great presentation. Their rosé sauce and fresh pasta is one of the best in the city, as is their margherita pizza. This visit had some amazing sandwiches, the classic chicken cutlet and the Caesar chicken wrap. So fresh and delicious. But don’t forget to wash it all down with their savoury fries, the perfect compliment to any dish on their menu! Too full this time for dessert, but I highly recommend their cannolis and tiramisu. You will definitely need a reservation for Friday or Saturday nights!
I was pleasantly surprised by Cafe Gentile. The menu is pretty well diversified, with plenty of homemade pasta dishes available, along with a great drink selection. The Peach Me Up was notably delightful. Gnocchi was a real treat, and the Sexy Fries were to die for. Service was good too. There is only one issue… The prices are a little out of control. I’m well aware that eating out costs more than it used to, and I have no qualms dropping good money on a good dinner. Our dinner was $127 before tip, with two mains, fries, a mocktail, and two desserts. I have had more economical meals that were arguably better. $30 or more for a plate of pasta is a bit too rich for my tastes (it was good, don’t get me wrong). That may not be the case for everyone, but it’s why I took off one star.
The place is nice and connected to the cafe/resto next door. In general, the food is good. Portions are on the small side and the food is expensive for what you get. I took the more expensive fries and they lacked taste and seasoning. I don't see the justification of a $21 simple margherita pizza. I also tried another pizza and it was ok.
Not bad, but not worth it. I did not like my pesto pasta. The portions were quite small. And the prices were high. Our server was nice and very attentive. Service was a little slow on the side of the food. I would recommend for a casual dinner but nothing to write home about. My friend had the lamb ragu pasta, she did not like it either. The pasta was too salty and too acidic. The lamb was tough. Lastly, there were a lot of flies and fruit flies in our area, it was not a nice sight.
I am fond of this place. Their food is amazing! I have had both brunch and dinner at this place - 2 different kind of menus. Dinner is more formal than the lunch. I had the gnocchi for dinner - out of the world! Their veal meatball is also awesome. I tried their chicken sandwich with rosé pasta on the side for brunch which was very good too.
The food was great! Service was okay, nothing really bad in particular and the atmosphere is okay, I just find it a little tight in the central part of the restaurant. Vegetarian options: Very delicious vegetarian options! Parking: There is paid parking around, but it is very hard to find parking as it is downtown in a popular area. Better to take public transit. The Atwater metro station is a block away.
I love everything about this place.
Amazing place with good food, very nice and friendly staff, especially Olivia..We all are very happy:)
Such a disappointment we gave our order received wrong order . I order a cafe aux latte it was cold then they spilled it didn t even cleaned it .
Olivia is amazing and Anna so friendly. Love the food, the friendliness the ambiance- it s my go to place!!
I loved my experience
Great food.
Cozy and great food
Little toppings on the pizza. But delicious
Best italian food great welcoming people are so nice well served ..
I love this place. Impeccable service, attentive and very friendly. Anna is simply adorable. Everything is very good. I highly recommend.
Fantastic contemporary dishes in an upscale casual setting. All around recommended
Best cortado in town
Beautiful simple little restaurant for a date or quiet evening with friends. Beautiful, good & affordable . Would recommend!
Great place, great food, amazing atmosphere!!
Solid spot to stop in for a bite. First time being here and will be back next time I m in Montreal. Had the chicken cutlet sandwich with fries, was good. Service was great but found the seating tight.
Love it! Westmount location is everything and more!
Very welcoming, comforting and accommodating; Id accidentally knocked a couple things off my table and the servers were able to get them back for me, and I was especially delighted at the free coffee refills. Dietary restrictions: Gave me suggestions when I said I dont eat red meat
The people behind the counter make this place
Veal meatballs are out of this world. Cavatelli tastes better than my mom s. Served by owner who made perfect recommendations. This place never disappoints.
Excellent
A Montreal classic for authentic Italian. The food is tasty and so fresh. Ive ordered takeout dozens of times; I was disappointed only once and the situation was immediately rectified. I am honestly impressed by their customer service! I also appreciate the chic and relaxed atmosphere for eating there; whether for brunch or a dinner with friends. A must try absolutely!
Best cafe/resto in mtl!!! Staff is amazing.
Always fantastic!
I took an order to go . Ordered multiple time there a year ago . Today I was so disappointed . The portions got smaller, it doesn t look like the picture. False advertising. Will not order again
I use to like this place but bahhhhh, they call this ravioli au homard
food and neatness is good but the servers are very rude no smile i dont know its problem in quebec i have never seen this thing in ontario
Ice tea is always crisp and I highly recommend it. Their sandwiches and pasta are also good. This cafe has a great location with a great design. However, the fries were not that good.
Excellent food with warm service!
Incredible food and service! That staff was fantastic! A must if you re in the area.
Visiting my mom in town and wanted some great Italian food. This restaurant did not disappoint.A1 service, nice ambiance, great teamwork from staff, food was AMAZING and I am a VERY picky eater. We will be back for sure!
Worst employee a Restsurant could have ! Avoid at all cost !!!
Best coffee ever !
Great food, service and ambiance!
Good place for the day
I recently went out to dinner with friends. Unfortunately, it was a disappointment on (almost) all counts. Food: 4 starters, all very expensive, and all mediocre. The tomato sauce in the squid was sour and had a metallic taste. The scallops were not seasoned at all. The burrata, not much to complain about and the tartare was just ok. As for the main courses, a steak that was way overcooked (we asked for rare). Terrible pastas, particularly the seafood busiate and the mushroom rigatoni. The only positive point: the desserts were good. Service: Friendly service, but slow. Apart from bringing the dishes, no one came to check on us to make sure everything was to our liking or to see if we were missing anything. One of the servers dropped a container of olive oil on the table, apologized, but never brought back a cloth or anything to clean up the spill. We had to do this with our table linens after a while. Then, at the end of dinner, we had to ask for the bills several times and wait a good 30 minutes for them. Atmosphere: Beautiful restaurant and pleasant atmosphere. Conclusion: Expensive and very disappointing. I will not set foot here again and unfortunately, I will not advise anyone to go there either. If you ask me, go spend your money elsewhere.
Food is always good here. Especially the homemade ice tea lemonade. Outdoor sitting can be quite noisy due to cars passing by. Service are friendly but do need to wave them down here and there. Parking: Parking in the back streets are free depending on the day and time.
I came here with my friend for lunch yesterday and I got the Arugula Sandwich with grilled chicken. It was so dry, it said it came with baldamic glaze and mayo? though there was barely any mayo. The chicken was really dry, I had to ask for extra mayo and even then the sandwhich was dry. Next time go hard on the mayo, it will be much more enjoyable.
The best for lunch. The pasta and the sandwichs
I visited this restaurant on Saturday, June 22 at 8:30 p.m. to have sandwiches and coffees. Unfortunately, upon arrival we were not informed by the employee that it was not allowed to sit outside if we only ordered sandwiches. After waiting over 30 minutes to receive our order, we began to enjoy our meal outside. However, after just 5 minutes, another member of staff asked us to leave the premises under the pretext that we had not ordered full meals, despite the fact that the restaurant was not crowded at all. This situation was extremely embarrassing and shameful!!! We quickly picked up our food and left the place. Although the sandwich was good, the service was some of the worst we have experienced, with the employee being particularly rude and rude.
Super good!!!
This restaurant is a local favourite of ours. We love sitting in the glassed in porch area 3 seasons of the year, love the food, and the inside is very cute, with nice leather benches, muted lighting, and reflective surfaces that give it a great vibe. They also have the best pistachio gelato of anywhere, and with the soft Sicilian biscotti on top, its to die for, and you can get it to go if youre just strolling by. We reserved the inside restaurant for a function Saturday afternoon for 28 people and it went absolutely great. There were delicious appetizers (arancini, focaccia pizza, caprese skewers), great first course served family style (loved especially the endive radicchio salad and the fried calamari!) and great second courses with eggplant parmigiana, grilled branzino and vegetables, meatballs, sausage cavatelli) and for dessert our favourite gelato and biscotti. The service was great, plates cleared promptly and fresh ones brought, drinks filled, and it was a great atmosphere. We loved having the whole place so we could switch between tables and talk to each other without bothering other diners. Really, really happy with the experience! Totally recommend!
We were at lunch group of 5, first we don t understand each other because place was too noisy and over crowded, But me and my friend had steak and cheese sandwiches, we both couldn t eat, meat was like a rubber. Impossible to eat. We send them back to kitchen, we fully charged that meal, no exchange, no excuse and either no free coffee or something, food sucks, atmosphere to crowded and noisy, Service minus 10. Usually I give second chance to most of places but this place doesn t deserve that. Bye bye
Recently, I went to Cafe Gentile for dinner service. I go for lunch fairly often, but its been years since ive been there for dinner, and something has changed in the kitchen. I was honestly disappointed in the quality and flavor of the food. For the high price (200$ for 2 people), I expected more. We shared 3 appetizers + 2 pasta dishes as the main dish. Every dish except for the meatball entree was mediocre. The tomato sauce in the grilled squid was acidic and tasted like it just came out of the can. The 21$ Argula salad had a bunch of yellow, wilted leaves, like 2 tomatoes and 3 shavings of parm. And the pesto burrata pasta portion was TINY, lukewarm, and barely had any burrata on it. And it lacked a depth of flavor for 34$. It was really underwhelming. The service was very friendly, but SO slow even though it was early dinner service (like 6pm) and it wasnt even busy. After our food was served, the server never came to check on us once. We had to waive him down twice to ask for bread and to clear our plates and for the bills. The only redeeming quality this restaurant has at the moment is the atmosphere. The decor is trendy and the vibe is nice.
Ive been ordering and going to Gentile for years... and its always been hit or miss... this time was a miss sadly... we were 3 for lunch. Vibe was good... busy ...waitress was nice. Poured us water... first thing was a dead fly/fruit fly in my friends water... rough start. Fuggeaboutit was pretty dry. Sauces couldnt quite save it. Sausage and coleslaw sandwich was very good. Other friend hand the Portuguese style chicken sandwich... said it was decent. Sexy fries were a little undercooked... but not too bad... it just became a little much when ants were crawling on our table.. ice tea was great though... had the 2.0 with the mint... there was also some dead bugs in the light fixtures... was pretty off putting ... again... ive had good and bad experiences here before... was unfortunately not up to par this time
Update: I should brush up on my review; the food quality is not as good as expected. This restaurant/cafe is near my office, so I have been there quite a few times since the first visit, so it is time to adjust my expression about this place. They need to elevate their food quality; otherwise, it s worse to try, let alone the PRICE. ( Ill refer you to my latest picture of their frise, witch almost burned and not crispy and highly likely not fresh ) ------------ 3 years ago ------------ Ill give the restaurant/cafe 5 stars, in general, not only because of their delicious food but also because of their attitude and customer service. _ I ordered fish from one of their meals of the day, yet it didnt go with my taste. (Nothing wrong with the food, just not my type) So, I asked for a different dish (to be added to my bill, of course), but they generously replaced my plate with fried veal and stuffed cheese, which was amazingly tasty. I would recommend this cafe; moreover, check it out, as it is marked as my weekly lunch spot.
Amazing as always.
Phenomenal service from Phil! Food was amazing!! New brunch menu was delicious!! Staff super organized and hosted our group wonderfully! Excited to be back
Had a birthday with a group of girlfriends and we had such an amazing time!! We had their brand new group menu and all the food was outstanding. Service was really professional and everyone was friendly! Amazing experience overall ~
amazing restaurant, staff is so nice and such a good vibe
Had the pleasure to have my 25th birthday hosted here! Such great food with their new set menu for brunch and amazing service by Phil. Made my birthday so special!
Had a great time while celebrating a birthday. Their Sunday brunch menu was delicious and Phil catered to all our needs. Staff was friendly and service was great!
Spent my sunday enjoying the most lovely brunch with fantastic Service and great atmosphere. Highly recommend
Great experience! Beautiful and tasty food, beautiful vibe! Thank you!
Ive only been there once and the food was disappointing for the price. $30 and up for a plate of dough, I was expecting at least a standard and tasty portion. I also ordered a steak for $54, presentation was good, but nothing special in taste. Im not a glutton and I would say that for a normal person you wont be full with just one main dish unfortunately. I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for value for money. The service was good though, I left a good tip despite everything.
Food is okay, nothing special.
Good Italian food. The seafood pasta was quite good, slightly al dante.
You catered a dinner for me, it was awsom, very fair price, much appreciated. Ron Salzman
The staff is always very caring. I love coming for breakfast!
I came here with my family for sandwiches one afternoon. I had heard great things about this place and was not disappointed. I ordered the fuggetaboutit and I enjoyed the flavors. The fries, which come separate, were pretty standard. While the sandwich was good, I didnt think it was one of the best sandwiches in the city. I also felt the menu was a bit limited, so Im not sure I need to come back as I got to try the dish that I wanted. Overall Im happy to have tried it, but not exactly worthy of a second visit.
It s the middle of the night and I m realizing that the decaf cappuccino they made me wasn t actually a decaf.
Good food, staff always ready to answer question about food, only bad thing is music too loud
Kind and attentive service. Mushroom pasta was delightfully umami and a good portion.
First time dining at Cafe Gentile. The service was absolutely impeccable. Our waiter was patient and friendly. He made fabulous suggestions for our meal. The atmosphere was ambient and very comfortable. Everyone who came to our table was respectful and professional. The food was absolutely amazing. Highly recommend. Will definitely return!
I highly recommend Cafe Gentile to anyone seeking not only delectable cuisine but also a top-notch dining experience, thanks to the service delivered by Olivia. From the moment we were seated, Olivia welcomed us with a warm and genuine smile, setting a positive tone for the entire meal. She effortlessly guided us through the diverse offerings, making excellent recommendations based on our preferences. Not only did Olivia excel in her service, but she also added a personal touch to our dining experience. She engaged in friendly conversation, creating a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere. I highly recommend Cafe Gentile to anyone seeking not only delectable cuisine but also a top-notch dining experience, thanks to the impeccable service delivered by Olivia.
I love it.
staff are all super friendly and accommodating, very busy but they re still on top of everything!! one of the smoothest creamiest lattes ive had, fries are super yummy and well seasoned, got the pavarotti sandwich really loved the grainy ciabatta :) and wowww the iced tea was so sweet and lemony! really loved everything we got, thank u for the amazing service this morning <3
Inadequate service and food
Very pleasant, the dishes are good and generous, the service is also very friendly, a good address to keep
Thank you Yohan, Gerry and the whole team, Nice evening spent at your place, great discovery!
Love the vibe! Super nice staff
Nice restaurant with 80 s music. Pizza was delicious Kid-friendliness: They have booster chairs for toddlers.
Very courteous staff from beginning to end. The atmosphere was entrancing: I enjoyed the nouveau-retro synthesis. The atmosphere extended to the food as well: both traditional and experimental options. Great healthy meal options and indulgent dessert choices available. All topped off by feeling like your at your families dinner... so friendly. Oh, they have drinks too: adult beverages and kid friendly
We ordered many different items for a team lunch. Everyone was satisfied. The sandwich was very good. Highly recommend for lunch.
Good sandwiches and great ambiance. Friendly staff we order the chicken cutlet and grilled chicken, was good and hit the spot. If you re around you definitely have to try!
Salty food Bolognese was overcooked Food
Very nice place for meal amongst friends or family.
Very noisy. correct flavors nothing more. Courteous and fast service.
Cafe Gentile offers a very pleasant dining experience. The staff is nice, the venue is spotless, and the atmosphere, both visual and musical, is impeccable. Its a great spot where the music is just the right volume that you can appreciate the playlist, whilst still having a normal conversation with the person sitting next to you, and the noise generated by the patrons adds to that heartwarming experience. The food is great ! Big portions are offered without sacrificing presentation, but just a tiny bit pricy for its quality (which is certainly good, but not quite enchanting). Just a smidge. All in all, its one of the better brunch experiences in the area. Go try it out ! Vegetarian options: Plenty of option with no meat or fish, like the frittata. Kid-friendliness: Its a family restaurant ! Plenty of families with children come here, and theres food that will please any age.
Sandwiches are great. So is the ice tea. So great they get 4 stars. Everything is below average. Suggestion from a frequent customer: limit your menu and focus on what you do well.
Just about ok service, food is hit or miss, cocktails are good and the staff seen genuinely happy to be there
Café Gentile is always good! With chef Nelson Maceira recently in the kitchen, the result is there and you can taste it!!! The pasta is sublime and Nelson adds his personal touch. A must in Montreal.
Whether you are looking to grab a coffee on your lunch break or craving a plate of pasta I definitely recommend Cafe Gentile! The coffee is exceptional, the atmosphere is inviting, and the service is excellent.
Hidden gem! Excellent service every time :D
Amazing place in Westmount for authentic Italian food! Love the decor and vibe! Amazing service! Definitely recommend!
Great sandwiches . Highly recommend coming here for lunch. The pasta was very good and super fresh and the service was great.
Very rude staff with the delivery, when referring to the fact that he is working denigrating the delivery as if they were not working, he simply ignored him for 10 minutes as long as he did not attend, in his words he said if you want, cancel the order since he was not willing to want to deliver it, and all due to the fact that the person who picked it up was a Latino, who is simply working just like him, by taking orders to other clients in their homes, what happened was today March 31, 2023 at 8:10 PM
If you plan to ask for a delivery in this place, think twice, cause they are not interested in the order or the person who is going to pick it up, the staff attends rudely and leaves the delivery man waiting for more than 15 minutes, they must attend equally to those who are going to consume in the place, taking into account that is a order for a customer, the customer are waiting for his food, unprofessional staff.
If I could, I would rate this ZERO stars. I ordered the 26$ (tax incl) mac and cheese and it was the WORST mac and cheese I have ever had.... hard to believe right, that something so simple and expensive could be messed up so badly. Called to see if they could offer me something else. The girl who answered the phone was so belittling, rude and condescending; all the wrong qualities to have in customer service. She told me I can order something else off the menu... at my own cost. Does the problem is not our food but your taste sound like an apology? No Solution was given. Very disappointed.
Always great food and service. The clientele aren t my fave tho lol. Can get a bit loud and obnoxious in there but we try to avoid peak hours.
I ate the worst Caesar salad of my life. A badly cut lettuce leaf with an inedible dressing at an exorbitant price
Really good pizzas. Has a restaurant side and a bar side. Good service.
Not bad for the food, very salty. However I ordered a king sized latte and I received a half filled cup Either my delivery driver drank it or someone needs new glasses.
I don t often write reviews, but this time I think I want to do the owners a favour because I really like this place. I ve been here many times, but today was unacceptable and really disappointing. I came in for lunch with 2 other people. We ordered the fuggetabouit sandwich, the Tunisian sandwich and The fried chicken Sandwich. We also ordered the arugula salad and some french fries. The french fries were absolutely terrible , they were under cooke and very salty . Burnt on the outside and raw in the centre indicative of poor timing and temperature when blanching them initially. It seems like they were not rinsed long enough in water to remove excess starch and were blanched at too high a temperature for too short a time.. My sandwich was also really bad. The chicken was very dry and cold the bocconcini was also void of moisture. the fried eggplant was an extremely thin, dry , cold, hard slice that seemed to have been over cooked and made earlier that morning if not the day before but who knows. It was really unacceptable. Especially given the fact that ive had it before and was not at all the same product. The salad was also very flat and drenched in very acrid unbalanced balsamic vinegar . We spoke to our waiter regarding the fries he was kind enough to take them back and get a new bowl but unfortunately they came back worse . They were now a mix of burnt on the outside and raw on the inside or just raw and lightly cooked ones . Needless to say I could not finish my sandwich, or the fries. When our waiter came to clear our table, I mentioned all this to the him. He was very understanding And accommodating and was kind enough to comp the sandwich and fries, even though we did not ask to be comped. I am not leaving this review to put down this establishment. I know what it s like to run a restaurant And the challenges of finding competent , passionate cooks that can follow through with the intended menu and vision of the chef/owners. We came to eat at 3 pm it is possible that the cooks were at the end of their shift and just wanted to go home and therefore were less vigilant in what they were serving even though this is not an excuse, I am giving them the benefit of the doubt. I know that you can do better and I hope that this information is taken constructively and that whomever was cooking today in the kitchen can also see this as constructive criticism so you can adjust these issues for your future clientele. Besides this, the service was great and our waiter was Really nice . thank you .
Westmounts breakfast mecca, where the authentic aroma of Italian roast coffee merges with the splendour of the pastries. Conducive to the best conversations
Excellent place for lunch! The sandwiches are to die for, Peroni beer tastes great, you can t go wrong with Gentile.
Not a great experience. We went for Mothers Day Brunch and it was a total disaster. Horrible service!
Yummy!
Now its pizza parlor and café gentile joined together, the coffee is very good as well as the caramel almond biscotti, we also had mozzarella. Excellent stick. The bartender was preparing drinks, we tasted a very good pineapple mezqual tequila cocktail offered by the house. We will surely come back for the plates
Kale salad hardly had any goat cheese. The eggplant parmigiana was good but the tomato sauce was lacking that extra something to make it better. Service was great; only thing a bit annoying was with that our water glasses were refilled every time we took a sip. The place itself is looking a bit worn and in need of an update but nonetheless charming.
Really nice bistro feel to it. Food is well prepared and presented. Fresh. Great atmosphere. Daniel our waiter was excellent. Grazie.
Still prefer the one on Chabanel but nice coffee shop and way more upscale then the original one in the garment district
Just had dinner. We shared the salmon tartar, burrata and Seafood linguine. The salmon tartar is more like 2/3 couscous and topped with small chunks of Salmon. The linguine pasta was sitting (floating) on a bed of olive oil that did nothing to save the overcooked seafood (the seafood was literally dehydrated). The burrata was the only item that made sense and that was edible. Was looking forward to coming back to Gentile after living away was very fond of their sandwiches so figured their dinner options would be just as good. Bottom line - not impressed. Also it is to be noted that the restaurant was at best 20% full in case one should think they were swamped at the time we made our order. Update: you can see on the bill I attached it was yesterday from 530pm - we left close to 630pm.
Food is okay but it s really pricey, the amount of the pasta is not enough for a meal
Always fun to go to Gentile. Pasta is always delicious, service is fast and efficient, price is decent. I just miss the pasta duo they used to have at lunch time. But at dinner, you have to share a eggplant parmigiana. Perfect place for a lunch or a family dinner when you dont feel like cooking at home but want homemade food
Small tasteless portions. The only reason I gave 2 stars is because the waitress was excellent. This is my 2nd time in row that I found the food subpar. That s probably why the restaurant was empty on a usually busy night.
Had to change my original review. Usually my go to spot for Italian food but the use of frozen herbs really disappointed me. For $40 with tax and tips (for a single plate) I expected fresh quality. Don t think I ll return
I visited Cafe Gentile twice, once for breakfast, and once for a snack. While the ambiance and the decor were very nice, the food was not impressive. I would go for a coffee or a quick bite.
Excellent meal, excellent service!
Very good restaurant, with impeccable service. Relatively simple but very satisfying dishes. In conclusion, a sure value without leaving your comfort zone.
The food is usually good i really dont know what happend here but the potatoes i got with my breakfast were ...well carbon, they were burnt black hard and disgusting they looked like 3 day old reheats. You guys need to either change the type of potatoes you use or train your chef on how to cook one of the simplest vegetables to cook.
So so bad small portions, totally overpriced, lack of freshness, slow service, rookie staff .what happened to the authentic Gentile? It was a Total disappointment by my whole group of friends!
Nice atmosphere Delicious food Not good for working catchup since the music is so load Food : 4/5
I enjoyed my experience, food was good. Omelette a bit overcooked, great potatoes. The eggs in a casserole with the tomato sauce is what I liked the most.
Excellent service
I was really not impressed. The food was really just not delicious. I got the Creste de Gallo - the pasta was fresh, but there was really nothing special about the rest of the dish. I could have easily made the same thing at home and not spent $50 for it. Someone at our table got the veal scalopini. It was pretty tough - not great. To top it off, the waiter forgot two of our items, and we had to remind them a couple times before we got it. One of the sides only came once we were all finished our meals. The atmosphere on the terrace is nice, that was the only redeeming factor here.
Stopped by with friends when they opened for brunch, what a great place! Food and service was excellent, highly recommend
Nice atmosphere but very expensive
Great food, great atmosphere!
Had a great (strong) morning coffee. Fellow at the door was so pleasant and served me outside - I m in a wheelchair. They DO have a handicap entrance but I was happy to sit in the sun.
Fun vibes, great cocktails, and yummy food! Dont miss their brunch!
Food items were overcooked. Uninspired presentation. Grossly overpriced. Do not recommend!
Superb italian restaurant, food was delicious, service very good. Lobster ravioli was the star of the show.
EXCEPTIONAL!!! Not only are the dishes at the restaurant excellent, but the home catering service is extraordinary. Chef Nelson and his team have prepared a magnificent table with all the typical Italian delights; pizza, antipasti, focaccia, polpettes, beef tataki skewers, giant shrimps and what can we say about the choice of cheese!! In addition, I confirm that they only choose quality ingredients. Anthony is very easy to do business with, he will make sure to choose a menu that suits you, according to your tastes. Very nice experience. Julia THANKS : )
First time in mtl, ate at gentille never going back to Ontario, one of the best meals of my life.
the vibe. the people. the food is UNMATCHED!!!!
Honestly this place is a true gem! The pastas are always amazing, the brunch menu has everything you want with an extra twist. Overall this is a 5 star experience through and through. From having a simple espresso to experiencing so much flavour from a simple sandwich, they have you covered.
Wow it was sooooo good!!!
I have been to Gentile s many times, and it s always being an amazing experience. The ambiance and service are fantastic, and the food is to die for. Will definitely be going back!
I was poorly received and only spoke English. Bad service!
Nice selection of sandwiches ,salads and pasta ,you can go nextdoor for pizza the food is delicious and the service is awesome
Amazing staff! Gentile hosted our company Christmas party and helped make it a wonderful success. The meal planning, the service and the food was all exceptional. I will definitely be returning with my family. Thank you!
Fantastic go to spot for all your Italian fare - great coffee, drinks, wine list and tons of goodies during the holidays.
The people serving you could not care less. I waited 25 mins for avocado toast the size of my palm when there was hardly nobody there. After about 20 mins I asked the manager behind the counter who was eating something quite clearly In front of his patrons ,where my food was , to which he responded it s gone.. I m eating it Very funny I responded . Unacceptable. I will never go back . Unprofessional.
Food has no taste, staff is rude, the only thing I would give for 2 stars is the vibes of the place other than that I would not recommended it at all, better to go to chabanel s Branch
The sexy fries are a must!!!!!!! Delicious!!!!! 10/10 also got the salad that has walnuts and summer pears (dont remember the name), really refreshing. Coffee and service were great too, food came fast.
Outstanding dinner experience the service, the food, and bustling atmosphere was above and beyond my expectations. The staff so professional and courteous and the owners make it point to visit and assure your to satisfaction of the delicious courses that tantalize the pallet. This would truly be a miss not to experience.
Just ordered on Uber and very disappointed $36 for veal scallopini and I got 3 small pieces of potato and 2 small pieces of rappini , my pasta arrived cold all this to say that it was definitely not worth $100
I ve been to this Cafe Gentile couple of times now, and never been disappointed. At lunchtime, patience might be required to get a table, but it s all worth it. In a rush? Ask if there s room on the pizzeria side (as good!) Our waiter was funny and on the ball with our orders and water refill. We had a shared parmigiana eggplants as appetizer, and took the pasta of the day which were made with ragout!!! Wow, both were soooo tasteful! Til next time, again. Thank you for all the flavors and good service.
The best coffee around
Love the food !
I walked into this place once before with my family and other then being in a loud atmosphere, I thought the food was good and didnt think much of it since we were sitting at the corner big booth. But about a month ago I walked in again with my wife and this time we felt very awkward since they set us down in a very small round table right next to the bar, very uncomfortable chairs everyone is cramed up to each other, you cant even look around without starring at other peoples eyes lol...and a weird waiter that was serving us, very loud atmosphere. We ordered the chicken cutlet and steak sandwich, since the waiter recommended the cutlet sandwich as being best seller and we liked the taste of the steak seasoning instead and the cutlet felt like very dry chicken. Overall im sure theres better places for a good sandwich.
Awesome cafe Ricky and Johannes are awesome!!!! The best baristas ever. Love this place
The coffee, retro look and their staff are absolutely incredible
I loved it
The pasta is delicious but the service is slow and lacking.
A tall, bespectacled waiter is very arrogant. I have served hundreds of restaurants and this is the worst cooperation experience. Imagine waiting 10 minutes for their meal to be packed and swearing at the delivery guy. Dont take orders from this restaurant! !
Delish. A bit noisy
Lovely lunchtime ambiance. Delicious food, served quickly, attentive service.
Delicious sandwiches, coffee, and cannoli. Friendly staff!
Amazing service and delicious food.
The worst customer service n montreal wow !
They should rename it to cafe hostile. Bunch of ***** serving $*** food. With annoying attitude on top.
