Very fancy fine dining place in the heart of westmount. We were there for a Christmas party with work and we had a set menu. Amazing seafood appetizers ranging from Arctic salmon with salmon eggs, some raw tuna thinly sliced and rolled as well as the home made ham. For the main we had a steak and the salmon with lentils. The steak was perfectly cooked and tender. The service was perfect, very attentive and helpful staff. Overall great experience just don't go really hungry since the portions are really small.
Had a great experience at bistro La Franquette! Wine and food were fantastic. The homemade sourdough bread had a nice butter and flaky salt that balanced out the sweet caramelized Halloumi cheese, they were a perfect combo. And thank you to Coco for recommending the Gemelli pasta!!! Will be back:)
Truly an underrated spot in the city, the food is phenomenal, the wine selection is great, the cocktails are delicious and the service is amazing! Happy to come back here whenever I can 🙌🏻❤️ don’t miss out on their special collabs or their burger night.
A must try restaurant in Montreal. Everything was perfect. The food, the service. There oysters were very fresh and delicious. The halloumi, never had such a good halloumi Mains we had the ravioli and beef tartare with fries, highly recommended.
Visiting Montreal after many years and quite disappointed at this highly rated restaurant- booked last min and got a spot in the night, when we got in another 5 mins waiting by the door which was fine, then we sat down and I ordered the ravioli it was mediocre and I tried ordering beef tartar finding it was sold out! First time dining at a place that sells out which looks like they are not prepared for meeting the capacity of customers, I then ordered halloumi but it was too sweet and I couldn’t keep eating after finishing half. The sorbet was quite good I guess it made up for the bad mains. I left the resto with a hungry stomach and don’t think it’s worth $90 for what I got. Also I had to yell the entire time because I couldn’t hear my friend due to the extremely loud atmosphere. Service was slow I had to ask three waitresses the same question on whether my dish will be delivered…..won’t go back
I came here for a birthday celebration and was unimpressed. First of all, the staff was unkind upon our arrival to the restaurant, the server was annoyed at the 4 times we spoke to him, while simultaneously he spent a majority of the time looking by our table seeming to listen to our conversations. But I digress. The food was decent, but the bread was the highlight of the meal. For such a small menu I had expected higher quality and/or better tasting food. The restaurant is fairly small and packed so there was no distance between my table and the table next to us. Funnily enough we had distant friends show up on the table next to us otherwise it would have been very awkward. Overall I saw the idea with this restaurant, yet it was a very mediocre experience and I don’t think I will be back again.
Finally making a point of adding this review after countless meals that were absolutely superb. Louie and Renee know exactly what they’re doing and they do it so well. If you are looking for an unpretentious vibe with great music, where you will simultaneously be blown away by unique and truly delicious food – Franquette is your answer. Gorgeous wine choices, insane desserts, and a menu that has never once let me down! That’s why I keep going back.
Went here for my birthday and it’s now our new favorite restaurant in Montreal! The food was beyond amazing from start to finish; we had their MTL à la table menu and got to try everything. It was well worth the price! One thing that really stood out was their impeccable service. Everyone was so warm and attentive, it enhanced our dining experience and made my birthday feel even more special. Thank you again and can’t wait to come back!!
Not a bad first experience.
The tartare was delicious, as was the bread. Wasn t the biggest fan the tuna crudo and my virgin shirley temple tasted like cough syrup. Would go back to try out other things on the menu.
Coming with two friends on a Saturday evening, its chic but you feel at home, a simple welcome and very pleasant service. The dishes were delicious, especially the salmon. I will come back and recommend!!
We had a fantastic experience. The food was incredible and the service too. Highly recommend this restaurant. Kid-friendliness: They have a high chair
10 out of 10!! The service, the food, the wine and the cocktails - everything was perfect! I really had no expectations going to La Franquette and now it s one of my favorite restaurants in Montreal! Love the cozy atmosphere too.
Remarkable food - thoughtful, surprising, delicious - in a beautiful environment. And the head hostess was amazing. Honestly, can t say enough good things about that head hostess.
Amazing dinner!
So I ll start with, you should go. I ll get to the food in a sec but as soon as you walk in you feel the warmth. They have a cozy and intimate dining room that s great for a night out with your favourite people. We had the sourdough bread and halloumi starters, which were ok, but for the mains we had the ravioli, rigatoni and the hangar steak. All of them were incredible. The one large ravioli with pockets of ricotta was served al dente, it had the right amount of chew, with a tomato basil sauce which was nice and light. The rigatoni with beef cheek also was served with perfectly al dente pasta in a deeply flavored ragu, which I think sort of tasted like a stroganoff. The pastas were served together first, and then they brought out the hangar steak. Medium rare, with fries that remind you why Montreal is so well known for them, but also with some sort of a glaze or reduction which I didn t know was there until the plate was finished and I scraped up whatever I could with a spoon. In fact, I scraped all three dishes clean using a spoon. This isn t an Italian joint but they need to help me do scarpetta maybe having that sour dough at the end with the mains so you can mop up the deliciousness on the plates. Service throughout was so kind, unobtrusive but so attentive. Staff accentuated the warm and welcoming vibe of the dining room. I would go back just to be taken care of like that again. I can t wait to go again.
Bistro La Franquette is easily by far my favourite restaurant in the city. The service and food is always excellent without a doubt. The Staff is made up of genuine people who make the experience delightful and special. The food never misses. I was amazed by their Pate en croute. Highly recommend visiting this place with friends or family.
The co manager is very very unpleasant I dont understand how she manages to get customers, she speaks very very badly it seems like she works just to be unpleasant with customers a very very bad experience this is going to be the second time I have came and still disappointed with his behavior
First of all Jenny s service was 10/10, very knowledgeable and familiar she was much appreciated. The halloumi and rigatoni were some of the best dishes I ve ever had, and the wine recommended to us was perfect. All at a very reasonable price, I ll be back soon.
Just try it already . It s delicious and great ambiance. Food
We ve eaten twice here recently with out-of-town friends, and both times were excellent. The bread was wonderful, with truly great butter. I had a great mushroom velouté, and the halloumi with balsamic and honey glaze was phenomenal. My ravioli was flavorful and delicious, and my husband said his steak was the best one he d had in several years. And the pavlova was definitely worth leaving room for! The staff were warm and attentive, and the whole evening was great. If you d like a meal that s a bit of a splurge, I definitely recommend it!
Second time eating here...I always give a resto 2 chances...both times, everything was outstanding...so the first time wasnt a fluke. The food is simple yet delicious, the waitstaff attentive, friendly...probably my favourite resto. Love this place
Prohibitive prices: tiny oysters at $4 each. 4 shrimp in the shrimp cocktail and the bread pays off! Very expensive for what it is. The place is very beautiful and the service is very good but you pay the price of an excellent table while the offer is ordinary.
The terrible experience in my life :) Two weeks ago, my boyfriend brought me to this resto. We had an amazing time, and the food is excellent. We decided to come back today. However, we had the worst service ever from the owner as she told us. My boyfriend ordered two drinks and food (cod cheek croquettes, hanger steaks, rigatoni)at the same time; after 30 mins, we started asking our waitress. She replied us : that s the kitchen , she doesn t bother to go to check. Even though there is an entrée dish, we don t even have it. And then, we look at the owner , my boyfriend asked her about the food. She was holding a glass, didn t want to put it down and came to talk. She just craned her neck and looked at us . I never received that response in a restaurant. Especially, the price of the food we pay, we don t deserve to have that service. Plus, FROM THE OWNER. With that attitude, we would rather go to eat at Chinese restaurant . They serve better than yours. We waited for our order, and she told us to leave:) I recommended a lot of people to come but now I regret
Im on vacation so was really looking forward to a meal here. However with 3 empty tables the manager said the indoor table could only be available for a party of 2 on Fridays? Manager insisted I only could sit at bar or outside. I left disappointed but also glad most restaurants dont treat customers like this.
Went there for our 3 year anniversary. Was our first time there and could not rave more about it. A really friendly, warm and cozy atmosphere. The food and cocktails were delicious. We highly recommend!
Amazing food!! I can t stop telling everyone how delicious everything was our waitress was so sweet and gave us the best service just excellent
Military like afraid of the waitress/hostess
Simply wonderful food. Classic dishes with modern twists done really well.
Really safe side, thanks to social networks. Prohibitive prices, $200 for a meal without wine, without dessert is just exaggerated. If again at this price the experience was extraordinary, but to be punished by waitresses in fangs at this price is unthinkable. The food is nothing special, not even terrible. I really dont recommend it, another great scam. Without forgetting the tip of 18% because the 15% n h is more.
Superb French bistro. The food is classic and perfectly executed. Special mention to the service, attentive and always present. I recommend it for anyone looking to eat well and have a good evening.
Just Wow!!!
Totally on point! Excellent service, fabulous family feeling ambience, tremendous food from start to finish. We ate everything we are still here and if they would let me, I would have a nap (chairs and banquettes are super comfy) and order more fries in an hour and probably more cod and the dessert! I ll be back sooner than later! Cheers to Reneé and Louie, we can taste the love and passion in every detail of our meal
We were not able to eat at this restaurant because of poor reservation management and communication. For context, we made a reservation over a month ago for a birthday celebration. We received a confirmation call on the day of the reservation, which we took as a good sign. We arrived on-time and see a small queue, but were told it would only be a few minutes because a table was paying. No problem. A few minutes stretches into 15 minutes, then 30 minutes. We ask about our table and are told that two groups are close to paying, but then see other groups, of the same size and larger, get seated inside (at the bar and at tables). When we expressed our displeasure at the situation and asked when we were to be seated, we are again told that it will be a few minutes. When we asked why at least one other couple that arrived after us were seated, we were told that they had an earlier reservation (that they arrived a full 15 minutes late for, as we watched them check-in), and asked if we wanted to sit outside as it was pouring rain. Having no faith in the staff and no trust that we would be seated within the hour, we left after waiting 41 minutes past our reservation time. We could have easily gone elsewhere, but were gaslit into staying for as long as we did because tables were just finishing. We are visiting for the weekend and were excited to go to this restaurant, though we could have gone to any number of others in a city full of great restaurants. Waiting happens, particularly on busy weekends, but the poor table management and even worse communication really ruined the evening. Avoid this place if you can.
Louie is so talented! The steak and pasta and chicken liver mousse (I can go on) is the best in Montreal (full honest). Wine gal Renee is very knowledgeable-listen to her! I love this place so much- I go all the time. So much heart and hard working folks. Can t wait till my next visit!
One of the best restaurants in Montreal!!! Always fall in love with the food and wine and feel very welcome. A must!!
Thank you to Renee, Louie and the whole team. We could not have been happier with our experience. The food, the service & the wine were all top notch. Every dish was perfectly executed. Such a beautiful restaurant too. Cannot wait to go back!
Love this restaurant
It s very rare that I am truly WOWED by a restaurant. Le franquette is a WOW. The sea bass is by far one of the best fish that I have ever tasted in my life (including my travels around Europe). Not only is the food incredible but the staff are so delightful. We experienced nothing but smiles, positivity and warmth. We will 100% be coming back soon. I also appreciated how diligent the restaurant was with verifying if there were any dietary restrictions or allergies. Prior to our meal, the restaurant even took the time to call us to ask us if we had any restrictions as well as if we were celebrating a special occasion. This attention to detail does not go unnoticed and is unique to the bistro. Ps. Yes you NEED the fries. Vegetarian options: The carrots were incredible and they also have a halloumi dish that looks divine! We will try this next time. Dietary restrictions: I eat mostly dairy free and they had many dairy free options, they also take the time to ask you about your dietary needs.
Arguably the best steak I ve ever had. Fantastic fries and incredible aioli. Great wine selection and amazing service. Highly recommend!!
One of my few favourite restaurants in Montreal. Everything from the food to the service is A+. Me and my girlfriend have come here many times - the food and service always holds up. My personal favourite dish is the hangar steak. Good job to everybody who works here - keep it up :)
Quite simply a wonderful dining experience. Attentive, professional service delivered with a very positive attitude. The menu had some unique offerings that were across the board delicious. I highly recommend Bistro La Franquette!
One of the best meals Ive ever had. Run, dont walk. If you can afford carte blanche, I would highly recommend it. Thanks to Louie, Renée and the rest of the fabulous team!
Great experience! Hangar steak is unmatched, very good wines by the glass (including dessert wines!), and service is on-point
Came here based on a recommendation by a friend. Did not disappoint! Warm, trendy and inviting atmosphere with impeccable service. The dishes were absolutely next level, packed with perfectly balanced flavours. Try the halloumi entrée and the sea bass! Will absolutely be going back.
Great service and great food!!
There s no telling how delicious their food is. The mezzaluna dish, a pure delight. We had outstanding service!
I loved my experience, everything was delicious. We had the 5-course menu for Valentines Day and we were not disappointed at all. The service was also excellent!
First time at this restaurant and it was extremely enjoyable. Best dining experience I ve had in Montreal this year. The team went out of their way to make sure everything was to our liking and you can tell the place is run by seasoned veterans. Great atmosphere too
Lovely dinner experience! Ill be back for more.
Perfect Service, very good wines by the glass and Delicious Steak Frites.
This is the second time I have eaten at this restaurant and all the dishes are delicious. The first time I went was for a friends party and we had taken the service of a fixed price per person for a carte blanche menu so we were able to try quite a bit of the entire menu and it really was fantastic the service is perfect the people who work there are so welcoming and efficient! We went back yesterday and again the welcome 10 out of 10 same thing for the service, the atmosphere and all the dishes served there. I definitely recommend this place for all occasions, I plan to return soon for sure.
A wonderful and intimate dining experience. The casual but inviting environment is perfect for either a special occasion or if you re looking for a great dinner out. A restaurant that clearly knows what it does well and stick to it. Highly recommend.
Incredible service and food, I feel like a star every time I go there!
Just incredible! Went there for my birthday and it was perfect!
I am lovin it! And Renée is the best angel on earth!
I love this top quality restaurant, amazing service and food!
Franquette had been recommended many times before I had the chance to dine here and I am kicking myself for not coming sooner. We decided to do the carte blanche menu which was such a treat, we gave a couple pointers and they took incredible care of us. The food was borderline mind-blowing, and the wine recommendations were stunning. The service at Franquette is bar none. Every member of the wait staff was charming and attentive and they made the experience that much better. A new favourite spot that I cannot wait to return to. Thanks to Renee and Tiffany specifically!
On my first visit to Franquette, I was very intrigued by the menu and struggled to choose what to order (or, more importantly, struggled to choose what to miss out on). There was no such struggle on my second visit. Despite a thoroughly refreshed menu, we placed our full confidence in the kitchen and ordered the Carte Blanche menu. We were rewarded with a thoughtful procession of impeccable dishes, each seemingly better than the last. The service was also flawless, with special mention of Renée s expert and friendly guidance on wine selections and Tiffany s warm and personable attention. The food, service, and ambiance at Franquette hit all the right notes and it won t be long before we return, again.
This menu is simply exceptional! Grilled sablefish is a real delight. The roasted red pepper sauce brings a touch of sweetness and suavity that harmonizes perfectly with the fish. This menu is a true symphony of flavors and textures that will delight the taste buds of all gourmets!
Greatly executed food and service!
Best bistro in town, its a blanket of comfort for the mouth
Best steak frites in Montreal
Great food. The starters in particular were stellar. Prices more or less fair. Definitely recommend!!
Outstanding food and great service.
Easily one of the best steaks I ve ever eaten. The staff are all very kind and knowledgeable. Will definitely be back !
This place is nice - the food is decent (nothing special just standard French bistro fare) - the location is nice and convenient if you live in Westmount and want a place that is walkable - if you are willing to get in the car and take a drive there are MUCH better bistros in the city. The liver mousse pate and the French fries were probably the best things on the menu - the hangar steak was fine but kinda tasteless (and given that it had herb butter melted on it in but sure why it wasnt more flavourful) - the worst part though was the service - we had to wait over 25 minute between courses for our mains to arrive after our appetizers - the place wasnt particularly busy and by the time the food came we werent really hungry anymore - the is one of the biggest fails a restaurant can make IMO and the waitress didnt even seem to notice or apologize. Again, if you are looking for a nice Bistro that is walkable in Westmount this place is passable; if you can go a little farther afield there are much better options for this type of food in Montreal. Edit: the owner replied saying that we changed our reservation from 5 to 6 people and that was what caused the 25 minute delay - what an awful excuse rather than just a sorry - we messed up. Half our party shared main courses - there would have been no extra work for the kitchen with 1 extra person. I have an even worse taste in my mouth for this place now.
To say this restaurant was marvelous is an understatement. We ordered both pastas, every dessert, each got a steak and had some drinks from the bar that were faaaaantastic. When I told the owner that although we were originally supposed to be a party of 3, the now party of 2 would eat like at least three people. She later came up to us when we ordered and said boy you re not kidding and led us to a bigger table. It melted me!
Excellent from start to finish from the lobster wrapped in a tasty brioche, to the fresh seafood tower to the financier dessert. Highly recommend!
Feel-good quality food that fuels the soul. The ingredients are fresh and the taste is on point. Definitely worth coming back since the menu changes often!
The service The food The staff Everything top notch!!! Save yourself the headache and get the tasting menu so you can try everything well worth it!
If you know whats good this is the spot youre looking for
Having gone to La Franquette quite a few times by now, I can say that it never disappoints. The food is absolutely incredible, and service is kind and friendly. A true gem to not miss out on!
The food was delicious and there was a large variety. The view from our table was beautiful. Our waitress was friendly and helpful.
Delicious food, great ambiance with good music and outstanding service. Definitely recommended. Try the orechiette with ricota, the tartar de b uf club sandwich and most of all the sea bass!
Intimate, very good food and very good service! I recommend :)
top tier decor, design and ambiance. insane wine list too!
Went for the first time last week for my birthday. The staff couldnt have been more welcome me. The wine selection was fantastic and our server was extremely knowledgeable. Have been raving about this place ever since. Looking forward to my next visit!
My absolute favourite restaurant in Montreal. The food is to die for, the wine pairings deeply impressive, and the vibes? Immaculate.
Great people, great food, much love! Welcomed atmosphere and super friendly staff!
Ordered the flank steak with fries. Came with a garlic mayo for the fries and an herb butter for the steak. Steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare and was flavourful, and the fries were also excellently cooked with just the right amount of salt. Only complaint is that the butter didnt add very much to the dish. The wait for the food was very long, but I understand that it takes time to make a quality dish without cutting any corners. Servers were always refilling water and checking in on us, and were very friendly in general.
Wonderful evening dining at le franquette. They are very passionate about their food and wine. Service was friendly and attentive.
Good table. Friendly service. We asked to slow down the pace of the 4-course meal since after 15 minutes, the aperitif, appetizer and starter were served.... The request was well heard and respected. The cuisine is good without being exceptional.
One of the best services I have had in recent years, we never lacked for anything. The food was excellent, the portions were large even in the tasting menu. Definitely worth returning
I recently moved from Montreal, and I can say without hesitation this is the place my partner and I will be missing the most. Renée, Corrine and the whole team are a delight. The food is outstanding and their service is the best you will find in the city. If you want to have a beautiful restaurant experience, this is it.
Had an awesome night here. The food and service were top notch. I ll 1000% be back!
We dont normally venture this far from our own part of the city (Rosemont/Plateau) to go out for a meal because we are spoiled with options around there - but we are SO glad we came to La Franquette for MTL a Table. The service was top notch, the space is chic and calm, and the food was truly unforgettable and generously portioned. The highlights were the cocktails, the homemade halloumi, the risotto (which I usually hate!!!), and.. ok the whole meal. Thank you! We will definitely be back.
Dined for MTL A Table. It is a small place, if you are taller ask for a table with chairs as you will be a lot more comfortable. The two seater booths are made for children. The food is exquisite, the haloumi and sourdough were not to my liking and lacked a punch, but the risotto and creme caramel desert were flawless. It was probably the best creme caramel Ive ever had. Service is attentive. Vegetarian options: They do ask and take allergies seriously.
I went here for mtl a table (83$). While the restaurant is charming and the service was above average, I am not super thrilled with my experience. Most of the cocktails were over 20$, which is puzzling when looking at the ingredient list. The portions were minuscule and my 3 slices of steak were tragically underseasoned (I asked for salt but still ) the creme caramel, while delicious, would have been better had the caramel not been burnt and the slice of carrot cake we got was comically small. The final slap in the face was the credit card machine having 18% as the first tip option. Restaurants need to stop doing this it puts a bad taste in the customer s mouth no matter how well their evening went. In conclusion, I felt like this restaurant was trying to squeeze every penny out of me with the highest priced mtl a table menu, stingy portions and suggested 18% tip minimum.
Delicious food with exceptional service. I regretted not having enough appetite for the desserts. The salted caramel icecream tester was heaven!
We had a terrific meal and wonderful service. The staff were very friendly, knowledgable and the service was very fast.
This is one of my favourite restaurants in Montréal. The food is amazing , they probably have the best French fries I have EVER had . Amazing wine selection . The service is impeccable!!! I have been a few times with my partner and they always remember us and what we usually like to order which makes it that much more amazing . I am pregnant now and they made me such amazing mocktails, ones that actually taste like drinks . The oysters , the steak , the tartare , the fish everything is great , I have not had a bad meal here . Highly recommend this place .
While passing through Montreal, we were recommended this restaurant, we did not regret our choice. The products are cooked with passion and this is reflected on the plates. From starters to desserts, we enjoyed ourselves. The welcome and service are warm. We had a very good evening. THANKS.
Delicious food. Really amazing cocktails. Super friendly service. Portions were surprisingly large for a fancy place. Nothing not to love about this place!
New favourite place in town. Good service, attention to detail, cozy vibe and superb food. We have started with the lamb entrée which you could have with the sour dough which was probably the best entrée I ve had recently followed by the beef onglet and the sea bass. Also 5 stars for the cocktail menu. Definitely coming back and forth. 11/10
Had a fantastic dinner here! The staff were lovely, the food was delicious! We had the halloumi and lamb starters followed by the sea bass and short rib. We ll definitely be back!
A balance of simplicity and complexity, delicious standards and a lot of fun experimentation, superb wines and service you cant ask for more. Date nights, anniversaries, catching up with old friends... whatever reason you go, the nights here fit like a glove. If you havent eaten here yet, you need to wake up and make a reservation ASAP. No excuses.
Unreal.
A rare gem of a restaurant, bringing together spot-on service, fun ambiance, and truly excellent food. Thank you always for your warm hospitality, and for nailing it time and time again with meals that are both creative and downright delicious. See you soon!
Very good restaurant! Very professional service. Highly recommended!
Best service I ve had in Montreal. Every single plate we ordered was completely flawless. Not a single negative thing to say. I would highly recommend saving room for dessert.
Really good little bistro in Westmount. Easy going staff, laid back atmosphere. Steak Frties at $36 is amazing value. Tartare with cauliflower à MUST-try. Everything is good. Tommy makes amazing drinks. For a chill night with the wife and no kids or with buddies.
Absolutely stunning from the moment I sat down to the moment I left. Expert level cooking paired with incredible wine selections. Hands down best meal Ive had in memory
New favourite restaurant in Montreal! Nice intimate setting serving dishes that are not pretentious but highly sophisticated. The servers and chefs are super friendly. 12/10 will come back & recommend to friends. A must try.
Very disappointing for the reception military. Like entering a concentration camp. Obligation to take the menu decided by the chefs, $85 per meal, if 6 people. For 5 people, possibility of eating à la carte. What an inconvenience. Table of 4, a little distant from 2 guests in the group? possible to order a la carte. Really not recommended. So we went to the PARK restaurant, next to this military place.
Delicious food, friendly staff, and nice ambiance. I love this place!
Excellent food and great service. The ravioli was lick-the-plate delicious and I could have been happy just eating the sourdough bread with butter and a glass of wine. My wife thoroughly enjoyed the sea bass and we shared a beet salad. Finished off with some fantastic cherry cheese cake that was a good as the main course. Highly recommended!
I had been hearing about this place from friends for awhile, but never have the chance to eat there because distance and covid. I was lucky enough to be able to make it down to Montreal and the first thing I wanted to do after that long 6 hour drive was eat. I got to Bistro La Franquette and I wasn t sure what to expect except that it was going to be a good night. I think good night was selling them short. From the moment I sat down I felt like I was family. It was a very relaxed and diverse atmosphere, on one side of the restaurant looked like a guy that drove a car that cost more than I make in a year, and on the other side two people that look like students out on a date night. That was the great thing about this restaurant, I had probably one of the best meals of my life from the food to the wine pairings and I didn t break the bank doing it. If they had a place in Toronto with the same food same concept I would be there every weekend. I highly recommend this place to anyone that has a pulse and tastes buds , I give this place a 5 star rating
The best food, wine selection and service. I just love coming back here Home runs each visit.
Bistro La Franquette is the perfect restaurant if you are looking for an evening filled with amazing food, great service, and a cozy, yet vibrant, atmosphere. The entire staff was accommodating and friendly with our large group. The meal is served family style, and the menu changes seasonally. Every dish was fresh, unique, and memorably delicious.
Exceptional atmosphere and food! What kindness from everyone! Bravo to chef Louis!
This was an experience! We got in after 9, but was pleasantly surprised by their late menu. The sea bass, and chicken liver pate (no pics, ate too quickly haha) was delicious. I couldnt stop talking about it all night. The custom drinks were a nice touch but this place stands on its food & service. Louie and his crew are doing something incredible here.
We spent a pleasant evening on the terrace. The dishes were tasty (we ordered: oysters, halloumi, agnolotti, steak and fries). Attentive service. A good choice in Westmount.
Check out what the owner had to say to me below. A lot of it is false and we were mistreated and talked down to at the restaurant. We are not from Westmount and were treated as such. Thats all I need to say.
Great service served with great wine, but the only problem is that the food (beef tartare, sea bass, steak) was all TOO SALTY!
What an great dining experience at La Franquette! Curated drinks menu to satisfy the likes of all cocktail and wine lovers. Menu (with seasonal/daily options) of well portioned, savoury dishes and fresh desserts. Classy, casual, but intimate ambiance. The icing on the cake however was the service! From the hosts, bar staff, servers, and everyone else involved, careful attention was made to inform us of the menu, recommend different choices and options, efficiently but respectfully ensure our table was cleared, and provide an exquisite dining experience. Would recommend to anyone interested in great food in a laid-back, classy atmosphere where you re treated like royalty.
This was one of the best meals I have ever eaten. Hands down. La Franquette is a true find. We were able to enjoy a variety of courses in a very special prix fixe experience - and that s what it was: an experience. The servers were attentive and sweet. The vibe was relaxed and generous. The food was incredible. The steak tartare was a revelation. No lie. Is it weird to say we were moved? The truth is we were moved. We left grinning, with little desserts for the road in our hands.
Fantastic local bistro. The menu is simple, but everything is very well-prepared. The steak-frites is among the best Ive had -- good beef, well-prepared, and perfect fries -- and the other mains are all good (we went several times without trying the guinea fowl, and its fantastic). Appetizers and desserts are innovative and delicious. The wine list is varied and reasonably priced, and the staff are very helpful with recommendations. The service is relaxed and professional - always friendly and informed.
Wonderful ambiance, super delicious food, amazing staff and service. Such a great night out, thank you!! Top tip: get what the server suggests!
One of the best addresses in Montreal. The staff is always incredibly professional and kind. The food is amazing. Simplicity, quality, the flavors are always on point.
Worst Dine in experience: One of the waitresses yelled at us and said Excuse me, other people are also dinning in here. when my 1 y/o was playing with spoon and making some noise. She could have showed little manners and politeness.
Delicious! Homemade burrata, scrumptious steak. The service was excellent. A neighborhood restaurant that really delivered.
5/5 Service was great and all the food was amazing. We had their homemade burrata which was very tasty to my surprise. The oysters were super fresh and their sourdough bread was divine (extra soft). Their beef steak was simply perfect, even the fries were flawless (crunchy and salty). Really have nothing bad to say about this place. You pay for the high quality you get.
A New restaurant in westmont with a lovely outdoors sitting. Supper was delicious service was great!!. Every dish was fresh and tastey from the burrata with the cherry tomatoes and the pasta cacio e pepe with roasted corn was a huge success!!! We also had the Hanger steak and fries ( meat was a bit tough but had a nice flavor) and the baked halloumi . There fresh bread is AMAZING . Will defentially go back again ...
Come for the incredibly executed takes on classic bistro fare, stay for a mind blowing dessert tasting menu, return for the unparalleled hospitality of the supremely attentive staff. Not to be missed.
great event with ile flottante servers couldve received a better briefing but food was great. thanks for a lovely evening
What a fantastic bistro, its just a pity we didnt try it sooner. Amazing food -- seriously, everything is delicious from the sourdough bread to the steak frites -- super friendly and attentive service, excellent wine list, plus a very chill atmosphere. Best Westmount dining experience weve had!
One of my favorite restaurants in Montreal, a must
Bistro La Franquette is THE restaurant you dream of having in your neighbourhood, and we feel very lucky to live close by! We went several times since we moved to Westmount and we totally recommend Bistro La Franquette. The food is amazing, the ambiance always perfect, and the staff is so professional and friendly at the same time, they are all so warm, with a great sense of humour. Whether we went for date night, with friends or with family, we were always amazed. Make sure you ask Tiffany s recommendations for pairing wine with your meal, she s always perfect at matching your tastes with your meal, as well as with the awesome bottles they have we tried and discovered so many wines there! Also make sure to ask Tommy at the bar to prepare one of his cocktails, he will never fail you. Bistro La Franquette is worth the detour; every time we leave after a meal, we are always looking forward to going back.
While the waiter was kind, the head hostess was rude. We asked to not be seated near the door as there were some tables near us and were told that those tables were not for two people and that people were coming. Soon enough, the tables seated two people. We were treated as if we hadn t reserved a table even though we did online. Food was extremely salty (and pricey). My side salad was $14 and also, they offered us a mini dessert since the food was so salty. And guess what it was ice cream bars with vanilla sea salt and salt caramel. That part was funny but the part that was less funny was that this offering came right after we d ordered our $18 dessert. Hmm overall a very ironic, passive aggressive experience. Never stepping foot
Excellent food, phenomenal service
I was able to experience the delicious collaboration between the French Bistro La Franquette (@bistrolafranquette) and the Japanese charcoal grill restaurant Otto Yakitori (@ottoyakitori), celebrating La Franquettes 2 year anniversary. Great food and amazing dessert in a beautiful atmosphere, with quick and friendly service. On the menu: Chicken liver mousse, consommée gelée, cornichons, house mustard, toast. Grilled black cod, artichoke barigoule. Chicken thigh skewers (Momo) and Black Angus beef skewers. Chicken meatball skewers (Tsukune). Dessert: Pear, phyllo, dark chocolate, bay leaf ice cream. Dark chocolate log, passion fruit, mouse, green tea, almond cake, orange cream on the side.
Loved it - great food, service and wine.
Unreal. Make sure you save room for dessert!
Amazing take out for a refined dinner during quarantine.
Got delivery on a Friday night. Delicious hangar steak and chicken ragout cavatelli. Generous portions and the wine prices are the best I ve seen in Montreal for restaurant delivery bottles. Awesome new spot and can t wait to try more.
Outstandingly flavourful food! Was really impressed. Oh and the friendliest staff ever!
A very good buttered ham. One of the best baguettes in town, if only it was sourdough...
consistently delicious meals and incredibly delicious bread
Best restaurant in Westmount! We ve ordered numerous times from here, food is always outstanding and cooked to perfection. Very reasonably priced for the super quality of the food.
*** attention *** theres new kids in the block and they arent messing around. This must have been the best piece of meat weve had in ages, perfectly cooked, tender, gorgeous Fries. Every detail is thought through. Definately a new Weekly go to in the area. .sit down with red wine and the onglet Service was impeccable as well. Thank you
Wow! Even the butter was spectacular Why you ask? Because they make it themselves! Just like so many other of the wonderful delicious ingredients in everything we savored this evening. Everything, I mean EVERY THING is made with love and passion, and we appreciated every bite! You must try this restaurant! With much appreciation and gratitude, Sharleen
Best restaurant in Westmount. The dishes are excellent, everything is homemade (even the bread and cheese). The service is also very good. Lots of attention to detail. We will go back without hesitation.
Based on the comments, I had high hopes of having a good time! However, upon reception, I was chilled because the person was not very empathetic, making me understand that I was not very smart for not having known how to reserve a table on the terrace on the site (there has many people who have succeeded because, look, the terrace is full!...). Even if it is true, even if she thinks it, this professional should put herself in the clients place and explain without implied judgment. Then, the chosen dishes turned out to be without any particular taste. On the other hand, the desserts were very good, which allowed us to end on a good note. When the person at reception told me, after his explanations, that I would be able to make a reservation on the terrace next time, I replied: if there is one, now I know that there is no There wont be any.
Awesome vibes, service and food. All the ingredients seemed very seasonal and fresh and the staff was so attentive. Could easily become not only a Westmount hot spot but easily a Montreal favourite!
We eat very well there. the staff is warm and takes great care of us. surprises and even my delicious birthday cake accompanied by a small candle and the birthday song. I was truly satisfied
Although the waitress was lovely and very attentive, the portions were very small. My husband and I were hungry afterwards. It was also very loud, not easy to hear conversation with our friends and we were sitting by the window. The food was tasty though.
A very nice discovery! Everything is homemade, the bread, the butter, the cheese... and the taste of the dishes is fantastic, it is cooked with very good products. The atmosphere and service are impeccable. We will return!
We had a very good evening! The dishes were well seasoned, the service impeccable and the desserts excellent. I recommend!
Came here for a birthday dinner and the food was absolutely delicious, and so was the wine. Good music, attentive and friendly service. I m blissed out. Will be back very soon.
I don t want everyone to start coming here because then we won t have a spot when we call to reserve but this place is one of THE BEST places to eat at in Westmount. The food is very good and the service is INCREDIBLE!
Couldnt have chosen a better place for a first date. The food and service were superb. The ambiance was really special.
Best meal I have ever had. Took my partner for their birthday and went home very satisfied. Great wine pairings to match the food. Attentive and knowledgeable service staff and a professional culinary team in an open concept kitchen. Very nice experience will return.
The food, the service everything was amazing. Highly recommend this gem in Victoria village.
Excellent value for money and the service is personalized and attentive! I recommend the experience
Excellent experience with superb service and delicious food!
Went for dinner by myself, I sat at the bar and tried as much dishes as I could, given that everything is amazing, service was nice and the food tastes like there s a lot of work behind every dish, very talented team doing everything from scratch and working with the best products, have to say the best part are the desserts
This is one of the best restaurants Ive ever been to. The homemade haloumi is a must get, as is the homemade sourdough bread and the homemade cacio e pepe linguini. The cocktails are amazing. I would give it more stars if I could. Wow!
Unbelievable!!! These guys know how to do AMAZING food AND AMAZING service! Can t wait to go back again soon!!!
Excellent service. Food is always fresh. The halloumi dish is my absolute favourite. Also always creative.
Excellent French bistro in the hearth of Westmount. The home made pâté de foie is a must. Their beet tartare covered with baby chips is very creative and simply delicious.
Everything was perfect, from the seasonal and elaborate starters and dishes, to the fine and surprising desserts. The sourdough bread was equally amazing, not to mention a carefully curated wine list! Highly recommended!
Had dinner here on the weekend and what a lovely meal and overall experience it was. I would recommend getting many small appetizers and they were all so delicious. The homemade sourdough with in-house made butter, and then the paté are a must-try. We also really enjoyed the Halibut with the smoked Eggplant. I thought it would be too rich but the flavors worked really well together. Grazie a tutti!
Delicious! The welcome was warm, the pasta was exquisite and the wine recommended by the waiter went perfectly with it! The musical atmosphere could not have been better chosen! I recommend everyone to go there!
Unpretentious, great, attentive service. Not noisy, can hear yourself talk! The ravioli was fantastic, and the desserts are out of this world good. Wine recommend was spot on too.
Food was very good with above atmosphere. If you are coming for dinner consider making reservations in advance.
From reception to departure, more than 5 star service! Don t hesitate to go to Bistro La Franquette! Look no further, you have found the place for your special dinner:) Everything was perfect from the welcome to the presentation of the bill, still reasonable given the quality of the service and the meal. The service was of exceptional quality, they were able to advise us on our choices of meals and wines. We will definitely return!
The food and service were incredible! One of the best meals of my life. Their wine list is on point and the staff is incredibly knowledgeable. Honestly an amazing experience.
The best experience (food wise) we had in Quebec! The staff were very attentive and friendly. We were seated at the bar. Our server/bartender answered all of our queries about the menu and checked on us frequently. Everything we got was phenomenal! Especially, the duck breast!!! That was the star of the show. Definitely recommend this place, it is busy and you d have to book ahead to get a table but so worth it!
If the enthusiasm of the staff equated to the quality of the food, then 5 stars would be in order. Sadly, much of the food falls short. Pasta, that is touted as homemade, is tough, chewy and over kneaded. Duck breast looks more like beef. Thick, tough and fairly tasteless. The duck ragout was dry and lacking sauce. The biggest plus were the oysters, perfect! For the cost, you can do better.
The salmon and the short ribs were out of this world, best baguette I ve had in Montreal!
This is extremely high level cooking. I have no idea who these people are, but they clearly have the talent and the personalities to be a huge success. The guy making the food is full of charm, and the lady behind the cash was so sweet and professional. 5
Flawless. A modern interpretation of a classic menu, fine flavors, a crispy baguette... And a very friendly team. A beautiful address to discover.
