Gran Gusto Ristorante in Woodbridge

The 5 of us just had a wonderful lunch at Gran Gusto Ristorante. My good friends and I really enjoyed our meals. The food was exceptional!! Very authentic and flavourful. They have a wood fire oven for pizzas. We ordered the fresh rosemary bread and pesto chicken with red peppers pizza for starters, both very delicious! For mains, we ordered the veal special made with a brandy sauce, potato pizza, smoked salmon pasta, and lamb chops. Desserts were all fantastic. The tiramisu was out of this world!! Very fresh. The chef prepared every meal with exquisite ingredients. Owner Ricardo is very friendly and welcoming. This establishment in Woodbridge has been around for over 20 years and is worth paying a visit if youd like to have a true Italian meal.

We had a wonderful friends Xmas lunch, large salad portions and great pizza. Note; Only thing greek salad didnt have chucks of feta in it.

Amazing food and service

The waitress was very nice and attentive. The food was bland and not very warm. The pizza Toppings were not cooked well. We tried the pizza and fresh spaghetti with tomato sauce. The Ceasars salad was good.

Terrific Italian restaurant the food was very delicious I could not be more happy with the service provided by Sonia our server for the evening. She was very friendly, patient and just beyond great in serving our table in which I and my family were celebrating my moms birthday. I definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting to experience a peaceful and pleasant night out. I will definitely go back!

Low key restaurant but the food is super delicious with reasonable prices. The lasagna, pizza, tiramisu and Oreo cheese cake were phenomenal.

Excellent selection of Italian food The pizzas had fresh and amazing toppings. And the pastas were huge! They brought bread for us and had spicy olive oil and vinegar.

We enjoyed a great dinner of rice balls, fettuccine Alfredo, Penne Alla Vodka and Fettuccine Boscaiola. It was so much food!!! Service was a family owned feel and tge owner said he has been there for 20 years. The pizza selection is huge and they looked great too. It isnt fine dining but I gave it 5 stars because it was good food and nice people.

The chairs where confutable

The pasta and fried fish dishes are unbelievable. Very tasty and an unreal portion size, like almost comical, you will be taking some home for sure. The pizza is nothing to write home about.

We went out as a group of 7 for lunch and overall found the experience to be very good. The food was phenomenal in quality and portion. The service was friendly and very quick. The only downside is the atmosphere. While the room used for events was beautifully laid out and decorated, the rest of the restaurant seemed rustic to the point of seeming a bit dated.

Ive been to Gran Gusto many many times and needless to say that whatever you end up ordering is consistently delicious and tastes like your sitting at home to nonnas cooking!! Always consistent and mouthwatering :) This place truly is a hidden gem with a very casual and cozy atmosphere, generous portions of deliciousness at a reasonable price. Whether your dining with friends or family, Gran Gusto truly lives up to its name and you will never find yourself disappointed ;) Pizza Ricky and any of the pastas are a must try (you wont regret it!) Off the charts on yumminess and great service!

Gran Gusto is a Woodbridge institution with great Italian food and fabulous value for the money. Generous portions. Staff is attentive, knowledgeable, and efficient. Atmosphere is tired, but doesnt inhibit patrons from visiting time and again. Highly recommend

Absolutely love this restaurant. It is my go-to for Italian food. The owner, Ricky is so personable, interactive with customers, and has a strong focus on customer service. The food is very authentic and tasty. Portions are excellent. Exceeding expectations from day one. Im not surprised when I see loyal customers return. Ive been a customer for years, recommend this place to everyone. Theres no other Italian restaurant in the GTA I would prefer over Gran Gusto. Dietary restrictions: They also have gluten free pasta!

No need to order they bring you the meal they want. I ordered the mushroom ravioli and the gave me a tomato based ravioli that wasn t even on the menu. When I pointed out the mistake they offered to put mushrooms in the tomato sauce and said I needed to say mushroom. This made zero logic since the only ravioli on the menu was mushroom and why would I presume there were other raviolis. They offered to make me the mushroom but said I had to wait 20 minutes. They did not offer to cover my meal. My companion also had the wrong meal brought to her. As for the meal itself, I am sensitive to tomato base sauces so the meal was not pleasant. The portions are large. The atmosphere is bland looks like a cafeteria.

Great with allergies

The food was fantastic. We had one of the pizzas as an app...it was great. The dough, sauce, toppings, the cook on it. We also had the rosemary bread which is a must to have with your pasta. We had the homemade papardelle and the gnocchi dishes. Lets just say, Im going back again to have the same dishes.

Nice place good prices great portions but Pizza was nothing special.

We were the only ones in the restaurant. My wife said go there the portions are good. We had chicken parm which came with a side. Normally chicken parm comes with pasta. When I ordered a salad as my side I got a small piece of chicken parm and salad for 23 dollars. We had desert and coffee after, my cappuccino was like a bucket of warm water and a tiny piece of cheese cake was 11 dollars. The service was good and the beers were big. But there is a reason why your restaurant is empty.

Best wood oven pizza I have had in a long time. Mmmmm so good and we had a bread antipasto and some rice balls.....let me tell you AMAZING. Only thing I dont like are the hours they close early for me. I like to eat relax have a coffee a few more drinks. Just wished they stayed open a few hours longer. Thats the only thing I didnt like.

Came here for dinner, walking in both me and my boyfriend noticed a foul odor that did not go away though the whole 1h we were there. Service was okay, not the best but definitely not the worst. The food though tasted rancid and old. The fried calamari was raw and chewy like gum. The bottles of hot oil and balsamic vinegar were sticky and had an unpleasant taste to it. Obviously ownership or management must ve change because bafore was much better. Will not be coming back for sure. So disappointed.

My husband and I had dinner here and we both found the food not great. The grilled calamari was super bland, the ravioli beef filling was gritty, and the fettuccine pescatore was flavorless with overcooked seafood. These were both homemade pasta dishes which we were looking forward to trying but they were both disappointing. Service was alright, the waitress was friendly.

My husband and I went to celebrate our 26th wedding anniversary and this was recommended to us. Unfortunately it was a VERY DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE. We love to start dinner with grilled calamari. It was awful. It had no flavour just a few grilled marks and some balsamic sauce on top. There was no salt no seasonings and it had the white gooey stuff when you cut into it. We then asked for a pizza and a pasta dish. The pizza was very bland . The sauce had no taste neither did the cheese. It was suppose to have black olives, ham, artichoke and ham. My POV is that they might be using low quality products. The pasta I asked for was orecchiette with rapini and chicken. The pasta was over cooked then it was swimming in oil and the rapini water and the chicken looked and tasted like it had been reheated a few times. At this point we didn t even want coffee or dessert. The place needs to be redecorated the only reason we stayed is because we saw a gentleman celebrating his birthday there, so we figured let s look past the decor and try this homemade food. We should have walked out. The service was friendly however that is certainly not enough. To finish off the evening, my husband paid for our meal it was over $100 not including coffee dessert or wine and when I looked at the bill they had overcharged us for my pasta by almost $10. Thank goodness I always look at the receipt. I m not saying it was intentional what I am saying is always look at your bill before you pay. I will not recommend or go back here again. I should have taken pictures there but I just wanted to get out of there quickly. I did bring it home just to show my family

Fresh tasty Italian style pizza

I ve been here a few times now and really enjoy coming here! They have a wood oven for the pizzas which are delicious! I recommend you try the ricki pizza if you go! It s named after the owner and probably my favourite thing there! If you re feeling like pasta, I suggest the lasagna or the ravioli. The staff are friendly and the it gives nice family restaurant vibes. I highly recommend this place!

We went here to get a late lunch at around 3pm, which explains why the place was empty. The staff was very friendly and service was fast. They offer complimentary bread with olive oil, balsamic vinegar and butter. I got the rainbow trout with penne pasta in alfredo sauce. The sauce was creamy and well balanced with perfectly cooked pasta. The fish was not over cooked and was flaky and very flavorful.

Having been coming to this restaurant on a regular basis for the past 10 plus years. Great food and service. Staff and owner Rick always greet everyone with a smile and are always very friendly. Will come back for another 10 years!

When you first look at the menu you realise this is an Italian menu, but the description is in English, the servers are very nice and happy and knoledgeable of the menu, as for the place itself I believe it is an old building in Lindsay the restoration have been done, only windows in the front when you come in, the colors they have chosen are very soothing for the restaurant ambience, they have a good selection of wine , beer etc... The presentation of the plates is very nice, the bruschetta looked really good, the cheese pizza looked good, someone had a soup he said it was excellent, some others had the seafood plater with pasta, it was good, whoever had the chicken parmesan all said it was a bit bland, overall the experience was good, it was a party of 20 for a bd dinner. Casual.

This place is amazing! We had our 10 year old daughter s birthday party here. They placed us in their private room with 12 kids in the party. The staff are super friendly and Rick was very accommodating with our food request. Our lunch was superb and service was awesome. Glad we picked this place. Thank you!

The food was ok but definitely not worth the expensive prices. No ambience. You have so much better options for good Italian food in the area. On a positive note, our server was lovely and very professional. Wont be going back.

We had an amazing dinner last night! We started with the bruschetta as well as a caprese appetizer. I had the pappardelle with chicken and peppers in a pesto cream sauce. My friends had the lasagna as well as the ravioli. We had tiramisu and cappuccino for dessert which was amazing. They have a selection of cheesecakes from The Cheesecake Factory. The portions were very generous and absolutely delicious! Service was excellent! Our server was friendly, helpful and had a great enthusiasm and sense of humour. We will definitely return, we cant get back there soon enough!

Pizza is weak. Ingredients are on point, technique is off. $18 for a medium mediocre Margherita at Weston & 7? Step up your game guys. Your pizza crust is thin but dense. Are you guys rolling out your dough? Hand toss that properly. pizza crust should be thin, airy with a nice slight chew.

This place is great! The food was amazing. Everything was fresh. Not only did the dishes come out piping hot, the portions were huge!! We all had leftovers for the next day. The staff are wonderful-very friendly and personable. Also accommodating of my brothers allergies (he s allergic to nuts/legumes). They have great customer service, which is very hard to find these days. This place has a relaxed and cozy vibe which makes you feel right at home. Thank you for such a wonderful time and we can t wait to visit again!!

Delicious flavours in tomato sauce, freshly made from scratch tastes, naturally attentive and hospitable staff. Brushcetta, rice balls, Genovese pizza, spaghetti were all outstanding!

Small place with a mom and pop vibe. Come for the food and service. Sonia, our server, was lovely. Pasta primavera was amazing. Will definitely be there again soon to try some more of their wonderful food.

Delicious food and amazing service! We went for my husbands birthday and the staff was amazing and super accommodating. I ordered the spaghetti alla salmone (thats how its spelled on the menu) and it was incredibly tasty and the portion sizes are huge. We also ordered a few apps (Caeser salad, spring mix salad, and fried calamari), which were also top notch. I highly recommend this place!

The service was wonderful, the waitess was so kind and attentive however, I ordered the lasagna and it wasnt hot. The latte was also just room temperature. I didnt complain because I dont like to, but Im sure if I had complained, they would have helped. Nice place.

Great tasting pizza and solid home made veal sandwiches. Pizza is just a tad bit thin imo, more of a cracker like crust, could use a bit of volume and fluffyness. Tastes really good though still wont disappoint.

Food is very authentic. Portions are larger than other restaurents. You need to wait a bit for the food but this is common for great places! Total time at restaurent : 2 hours The servers were very accomodating with our party of 11 guests (shellfish allergy). Prices were average for similar restaurents but taste of food is the bonus! Lasagna was made with fresh pasta, pizza was very good and appetizers we ordered were very tasty (bruschetta and fried calamari) I would and will return for another meal.

Very authentic, tasty Italian home style cooking with a great pizza oven. Extensive menu of various meat, seafood and pizzas, good selection of wines at decent price and great service. So glad this place survived the pandemic.

And holding this review for a little bit but deciding to post after some thought. The food was very good. No regrets eating the pizza the wood oven does a fantastic job cooking it as well as the chef that makes the pizza. Very friendly service very attentive servers. The bathrooms all those small are clean, at least at my visit they were. I really enjoyed my time here the only thing in my opinion was atmosphere there was none to speak of. You are the type of person where the atmosphere will affect your opinion on the food or place, theres work that can be done in that area here but I am not one of those people I very much enjoyed the food and service.

My family held a luncheon at Gran Gusto following a funeral service for my aunt. I am so impressed with the delicious food and ambiance of this restaurant. Many of my relatives and friends commented on how incredible the meal was, as well. I would recommend their penne alla vodka, pizza, and salads with homemade dressing!

Excellent food and service. The only concern is the lack of parking. Spaces reserved for restaurant patrons are occupied by others.

This is one of my favorite restaurants! My family and I have been coming here for 3 years for all occasions; Birthdays, Anniversaries, graduations or even just because! The pizzas are the BEST! Takes me back to Italy! Ive never had any issues in regards to freshness or anything!

Hands down the best pizza! The fresh pasta is also great to, will be a returning customer to get my pasta cravings in. The guy who I spoke with was very patient with me while ordering over the phone and customer service was exceptional when I arrived. My boyfriend also enjoyed a quick expresso while we waiting for our order to be prepared quickly and correctly. Hot, fresh and well prepared thank you again!

Been at this location two times this year with groups of at least six, both on a Saturday evening. The appetizers and food here is quite delicious. Pizza is made quickly and are good personal sizes. The Italian beer is nice and there are other tasty wine options. Space is limited, my recommendation is to make a reservation. They have their own party room however there was one time we had dinner in the same space with group of 20 plus celebrating a birthday. Felt like we were intruding, hard to converse. Overall, would come here again. Looking forward to try all pizza options available.
