Best jerk I've had on Eglinton. Chicken was delicious, my husband loved the oxtail, the rice was flavorful and coleslaw fresh. New favorite spot!
The girl (girl1) who helped my brother told us it was $18 for a large jerk chicken. She said it’s the same price if you get it with rice& coleslaw or without because they will adjust the chicken portion appropriately. When it was time for me to order a different girl (girl2) helped me. I accidentally told her small jerk chicken then after I changed it to a large. girl2 gave me the dirtiest look, and girl1 told her to just change it for me. When it was time to pay girl2 said it’s $18 then quickly changed her mind and said $19. I handed her $20 and then girl2 asked girl1 for $1 change. Girl1 questioned the $1 change because normally they would give $2 change for a large jerk chicken. I did not say anything as she was already giving attitude and her face was not having it. It was also not my turf. Girl 2 basically changed the price for my jerk chicken based on her mood. Terrible service from girl2. Not impressed… Food is good but unfortunately her service brought down the rating.
Probably the most authentic jerk chicken in the city and open super late. We often find ourselves sitting in the car eating in silence unable to stop to start driving home.
This was a really great discovery. The Hot Pot reminded me of my Jamaican vacations and getting street food. The food was DELICIOUS....so tender and tasty. Would definitely recommend them. Unfortunately I have awful sinus and mild asthma so the smoke caused sight irritation however the service was great, the portions were good, people were orderly and it was a really nice time. Simple, non-pretentious, non-complicated little spot. Nice vibes! 🎉 Try it..yuh gonna like it!

I always come to Hot Pot Restaurant when I’m in the area late nights! Amazing jerk chicken, always fresh, with rice, beans and coleslaw. Service is great and the owners and staff are very friendly. Absolutely recommend for anyone who loves jerk chicken!
Delicious, authentic food that is perfect for late night cravings. This is one of my favourite jerk spots in Toronto now. The chicken is always so juicy and cooked to literal perfection.
Best Jamaican bbq that you can get!!! They have jerk chicken, jerk pork, rice and peas, coleslaw, fried fish (snapper or saltfish) topped with onions and carrots, soup, dumplings, festivals, and more. But most importantly they have sauce and not afraid to give it! Overall the food is very flavorful. Their customer service is great and that's what you want from a business, so you can keep coming back!!The line was long before opening but after that it was moving. Hope this small business will always stay, despite all the construction.

I visited the food court and deliberated between dining at the Chinese or Caribbean restaurant. Opting for the Caribbean option, I ordered the Ackee and saltfish with plantain and festival dumplings. Frankly, the meal was so oily that I could have used it for a car oil change. I advise others to save their money as the food quality does not justify the cost. In hindsight, I regret not choosing the Chinese cuisine. During the half-hour I spent at the table, not a single person seemed pleased with their food. The dishes shown on TV did not match what was being served. I rate this establishment a 2 out of 10.

One of the worst Jerk Pork dinners for 30 bucks via uber eats ever. The meat was super hard, a little to over done the meat barely had flavour because all I could taste was charcoal and burnt residue. Even the fat wasn t soft, and it tasted really bad. I was super disappointed, not even the fat I could eat. Someone gotta look into that, cause it shouldn t be like that, never nyam hard jerk pork weh taste suh yet. I basically had rice and coleslaw big turn off. Gave ya ll one start cause the frittas wasn t that bad it could gwan. Takes a lot for me to write a review, so you gotta understand this was coming from the heart, I was hungry and super disappointed.
All the dishes are very delicious, the weekend specialty is wonderful.

Authentic Carribean food. The owners are cool. Of the best Jerk chicken and Oxtail I have had. I like the goat and fish, the soup, dumplings plaintain and pudding too, you can not go wrong. Vegetarian options: Soup, coleslaw and sweet potato pudding

Wanted to like this place and got delivery, but unfortunately got unpleasantly dry chicken that was also missing my order of rice. The packaging was dirty with sauce as if people weren t washing their hands either. Maybe visiting the place in person would be a different experience, though it seems like they don t really care about the quality of their deliveries.
Doesnt get better than this for Jamaican food. Stopped by for a midnight snack and got a small jerk chicken and a small jerk pork to share. With oxtail gravy, of course and goes without saying, rice and peas. Also got a salt fish fritter. Everything was. Just. so. Amazingly. Good. You just have to walk by the place and smell the smoke coming off the grill to know what the food tastes like. Ate in the car cause we couldnt wait. Inhaled it. Then I started getting mad thinking about the times I wasted money getting Jamaican food from places that are subpar. Im already thinking about when we can go back..

A Toronto classic, Hot Pot offers consistently delicious and fresh Jamaican food at a great price! Smoke and the smell of Jerk chicken greets you in front of the building as the meat is barbequed directly outside of the store, even deep in the winter. Cash-only and take-out is highly preferred, given the limited seating options. The menu is limited (just Jerk, Oxtail, and curry goat) but its open later than 99% of spots so its the perfect spot for late night cravings! The perfect spot for food if youre going northwards after a late night out downtown. Just be careful driving there since the road quality in front of the store could not be any worse, with moon crater-esque potholes ensuring your suspensions get a good beating
If youre ready for an authentic Jamaican experience even late at night this is the place to be. Great jerk pork and jerk chicken cooked right from the pan.

My daughter & her friend went to your restaurant earlier this morning 3 am. And had to run for their lifes the owner tried to fight them because they complained about the food portions 3 pieces of oxtail and a box of rice for $18 . I do not recommend going to this restaurant

I didnt buy anything. I came in asked for food they said they where closed till 8:30 for BBQ. Yet they had fried chicken read, I proceeded to tell the lady behind the counter its not for me its for my girlfriend who just walked it and she said who your white girlfriend I was shocked and upset argued with her left and went to raps just a few doors down and had a very enjoyable dinner. I explained my situation to a few other shops beside hot pot and they all said why would ingo there their food sucks and their rude. we dont support them around here is what I was told Id never ever go back there even if I qas dying. Im addition to the rest of the so called good reviews, there are all lies . They get their friends to write false reviews for them under fake names. Their food isnt prepared properly or cleaned to standards. I know this from girls whove worked there. They always have their hands in the food on the back tasting it , as well as spoons being tasted and put back in the pots. Nasty.

The most authentic Jerk chicken in the city. You can tell the marinade is the old school OG stuff. Great charcoal grill marks on their chicken and Smokey flavour. We get their take out at the office all the time. Excellent jerk, great portions, and the food is always fresh.

Best BBQ chicken in town, made with real charcoal. The food is made with so much love and respect. I wish they were better at managing queues so there will be less of a wait time, but their food is so awesome, it is every bit worth the wait. Best jerk pork/chicken in town iykyk. They are always drum bbq ing late. Their hours can be inconsistent & theres usually a line up on the weekends but it is worth the wait. I always ask for extra sauce boss & he delivers. Flavourful, authentic family run spot.
The smoke from the BBQ and the line up could be seen from a distance. One table was there to cut up the meat and the grill with pork was on the other side. CASH only at this restaurant. If you dont have theres an ATM inside, the fee is $2.50. They have a variety of items on the menu, theres no menu by the way. Just ask...there was fried chicken on the left and dumplings, festival, fried plantain escovitch fish on the other side. They have oxtail the night we visited. You can order the small for $9, with or without rice; #2 meat only or #3 large meat and rice and peas. Ask for gravy on the rice and get BBQ sauce on your meat. You got to go outside once you ordered for the BBQ items. It is worth the drive to Oakwood and Eglinton and worth the wait.
The BBQ is worth the line up. Staff is pleasant. Theyre about the business and moving the line so keep the conversation minimal. Often good comradery with the people in the line.
Opening hours are not consistent. Good bbq, be prepared to wait 45 minutes or longer for your take out to be ready, this place is really meant for night owls! Cash Only
This place is horrible to say the least. The inside is so dirty it makes you not want to eat the food. I got chicken that was burned on the outside and had blood inside of it. The hours are 10pm-2am which is crazy and I had to wait a good amount of time for the food even though there wasn t much people. Don t come here unless you want horrible food and service! Real careibean ppl know this food isn t good

Torontos best jerk pork but never ready for service, supposed to be opened at 8.30pm, you show up and they are not ready, still cooking and its not a one time setback, its a constant thing. Its better you tell us they will be opened at midnite, at least i wont waste my time to enjoy their delicious jerk pork. I think they are operating on island time. The lateness is a complete turnoff

The jerk chicken is out of this world! So smoky and delicious! Be prepared to wait a bit in line since they open at 8pm but the food is not ready until 30-40mins after.

One of the Best BBQ Chicken and Oxtail Ive ever had. The smokey flavor and seasoning was on point and tender not dry. Tried it for the first time and went back the very next day. Highly recommend you wont be disappointed unless you dont like wickedly good food.

We got there at 8, and they werent ready to open until 8:30, but we were glad we were there by 8, because by 8:30 there was a huge line. Great smell and atmosphere at this place as well. Dont miss this place.

What an authentic experience This is the best spot in my opinion for the authentic and truly flavorful Jamaican food. Jerk Chicken, Oxtails and Curry goat are my standard must haves for this place. This is the only spot where they make truly amazing Curry goat. I have tried a lot of other Jamaican spots and they all have excess Curry powder in thier Curry goat which makes it bitter and not so appetizing. Honestly, a very low key spot but if you give it a try you wont regret your decision. As they say the best places are always street side family run spots

I came in lastnight with my dad for the first time. He was asking all these questions and the staff were friendly enough to answer them all without seeming annoyed. Very good jerk chicken and I would love to try the pork next time I come because there will definitely be a next time.
