Yesterday afternoon my 1974 graduate classmates from Vaughan Road Collegiate held a 50 year reunion here. The owner, Josue, met with us prior to help us plan the event. He guided us through the process and was very attentive to our needs. Attendance was approx. 45-50 people. The event was an amazing success. Josue and his team, including Jessica and Mariso, were excellent hosts and provided professional, courteous, 5 star service. The venue was perfect for our needs. Not professional at all, very disorganized service from management. Had a party there, was beside another party and asked for a divider to separate the parties and they did not do it. The bar could not keep proper track of drinks between the two parties. Individuals from the other party had their children running all over our area, ruining decorations and serving themselves from our tables. Servers there had more professionalism. (John and Dahlia). Sad that the waiters/waitress had better customer service the owner. Only thing we were able to enjoy was the food.

Rich restaurant

Went for a late lunch/early dinner. Had the Grilled Octopus at the recommendation of a Portuguese friend. Absolutely fabulous. So delicious. Loved the generous helping of veggies too. Service was great, staff is very friendly. A real family style restaurant. Will definitely be back!

Did a party here for 20 people the owner was very helpful with the planning.Service once there was excellent. The appetizers were amazing the best one was the octopus salad, 2nd the mussels and in 3rd the shrimp. And you should order the Olives its a must ps it isnt free but reasonable priced. Everyone ordered their own dishes all plates came at the same time which I liked and everyone enjoyed their food, well served indeed. The only plate that had a bad review was the bbq chicken the kids had it and they complained that it was a bit on the dry side also the white rice was dry and had no flavor. Best dish was the lamb chops just perfect. Price wise I say reasonable.$$ Plus a loved the fact that they had someone there playing and singing to bad they left before my party was over. Am giving 8/10 just because there were requests I had and they werent fulfilled but after all it was great we will visit again for sure. Ps free parking a plus as well. Parking: Plenty of free parking around the building Kid-friendliness: They had baby /kids chairs Wheelchair accessibility: Theres free parking right beside one of the entrance.

I dont usually write reviews as I know business and restaurant industry can be tough. But... Today I went with my mom to get a bitoque and what a mistake it was to go here. Service was okish , now the food... Where to start, plates came and food was bland, we started with amêijoas a Bulhão pato. A joke...ameijoas were frozen, sauce had mustard...lol on amêijoas a bolhão pato, mustard... cilantro was dried cilantro talking about cutting corners to make a buck. Then moving to main course, only flavor I got was the fries tasted like fried fish and were boiled ( oil was not hot enough to fry ). Upon mentioning this to the lady owner , she looked at us, picked up some fries from my mom plate with a fork and went inside to show the chef and... Thats it no apology, no I can offer you rice a salad a damn thing. I told my mother to wait maybe they will bring decent fries , but that was asking for too much. The steak was that, a steak a fried egg and $180 later we left. I didnt even want an espresso. Just wanted to leave. Left 10% tip cause server was learning. I did ask if it was for him and him alone. Cause if he had to split with chef (?) And owner I wouldve give him money. This is how you ruin a place As we say in Portugal - colocar uma cruz a porta.

Amazing grilled octopus!! I enjoyed every bite.

Ordered a typical portuguese dish (rogoes) and specifically asked for no potatoes or rice just the pork with rapini, the note written by the restaurant staff on the tray said precise that, when I opened it up at home more than half of tray was potatoes,call to complain was told to leave my number and management would reach up to me,still waiting. Paid 200.00 for tray of potatoes with some pork. I guess customer satisfaction is not part of the process

I will never come back here again, Inês, the manager of this house, has a lot to learn to become a manager. A dish for a 2-YEAR-OLD child, soaked in oil, the dish came back in one piece because my daughter didnt eat it because there was so much oil and they still charged me for the dish. Apart from the food, I waited for almost 1 hour and it still turned out wrong. The cook cant even make a FRIED potato, let alone the rest of the food. Ill never come back here again. And I dont recommend it. They just want to take our money. Terrible!!!!

Really wanted to like this place since its so close to where I live. Unfortunately the chicken was bland and dry. The Piri Piri sauce was decent and they just serve white rice instead of your typical Portuguese rice. The people were nice though.

We held our daughters first communion here yesterday and we couldnt be happier. From the 1st day we went to book to the end of the event, everything was flawless. We had our daughters confirmation party there this weekend and everything was beyond expectations. The food was delicious, the service was amazing. They are very kid friendly. The staff there are caring and kind and so patient. Two of my guests arrived late and the staff ensured that they were served, warm, fresh food. I cannot say enough good things about this place. They helped make it an unforgettable night.

I had my wedding at that place..! It was perfect 2018, went back for a 5 year anniversary omg let s say it s not what I expected.! The place got a nice facelift wonderful, but the food I didn t eat my friends was so disappointing.. get back your old chef.

I ve been here twice (both for large group birthday parties). I have zero complaints. The food is amazing! The first time my boyfriend and I went , we both got the charcoal grilled chicken (delicious) & the second time I got the Beef a Casa while he got the Pork Ribs. The food is extremely good , and you get a very full plate for what you are paying which is always lovely. Neither time did I have any complaints about the service, they are a kind staff and I love that they don t make a big stink about splitting bills. There is an automatic % of tip for groups 6 or larger but it s not an unreasonable amount - it s what I would tip normally. They have a DJ inside who plays music and sings which is a nice touch. I can see future events here considering how much I actually enjoyed it .

Yesterday my wife and I host our son baptism at Casa Abril, and we were so happy with the food and service. Elizabeth was amazing and very helpful, if we had any question she was there to answer and explain everything to us. The food & desserts was delicious and we will host our next big event there! I want to Thank Elizabeth, Joshue and Jorge you guys are amazing and you were very helpful.

After spending $370 this is my families worst experience!! Go to a buffet instead and you ll still get better service. Although the food is good here; The service makes it just not worth it. We arrived at 1 and only left at 4:30 because the servers are all over the place and never asked once if everything was okay but instead we had to flag them down for anything. Continuing, We have never been to a restaurant that hands you your birthday cake with the candles on top of the box and just put on the table and walks away, when we already waited 15 min for them to bring it to the table after flagging the girl down again because they won t ask you if you need the bill. Unfortunately, my mother and I had to take the box to the bar and light them so my grandmother wouldn t see. Not only this, but when we had asked for a white wine that they were out of they took the menu and some wine glasses away instead of asking if there was another one to order, so than I had to ask two different servers for the menu and our wine glasses back which we only received when we got our appetizer. Not only just this but we were never asked anything; including if we even needed water and had to ask for it, not knowing that we were getting charged for water for the table(but that s the service they won t stop and listen to what you need or what they provide even if it s your turn to order). We waited over an hour and a half for our food and there was not a single time that our server(s) checked in, every time we needed anything we would have to get up and find someone or try and flag someone down which is extremely frustrating because if we were listened to when ordering instead of being rushed to just choose when they come because if you have questions about a dish be prepared to get skipped over than have to call your server over after others orders in your party have been taken because they will forget. This was the worse restaurant experience any of our family has ever been to and it was extremely disappointing. You mind as well go to a buffet because you do everything yourself here other than make the food. It was extremely embarrassing having to get up to find your server and we were not the only table doing this. If you have all day to waste it s a great choice because you will be waiting a very long time for everything and anything.

I just had my daughters baptism here and I am extremely happy with this restaurant. We had the private room upstairs and it felt very intimate and was great to have a space to ourselves. Leading up to the day the owner & workers were such a pleasure to work with, very accommodating and friendly. The day of the event the food was amazing & there was an abundance! If my guests went home hungry I d be shocked. The service from servers to bartender was 5 stars, constantly checking in every step of the way. This place isn t cheap, but you definitely get what you pay for & I am super happy we picked casa Abril for our daughters special day. Thank you! Parking: This place fills up fast to the parking becomes a bit difficult to find on the location, but plenty of street parking.

If you are looking for the authentic Portuguese restaurant this is the place...no regrets.

Im 60 years old. My wife and I use to visit restaurants in average twice a month. This is a worst food which we ever had. Unfortunately I cant put rating zero. The fish was dry, difficult to chew and fish had a spoiled smell. All was too salty and it was no spices at all.

I ll start with the service, you ll lack attention at the table let me tell you right now, food it s not even that special, we went on a Saturday night, taking and the table end up being hard with the loud music and guests. You see waitresses eating while serving tables and we were also ignored when got in. Overall there s way better places for the same money. Don t waste your time. Also bacalhau à chefe it s supposed to be coming with special sauce and guess what was just olive oil, barely any, super dry dish. Disappointed

If you haven t been to Casa Abril lately you need to check them out. Went for my birthday and the food was incredible. Everything we ordered was delicious. We had feijoada, chicken, the steak and robalo(fish). The staff was super friendly and attentive even when it got busier. A must try again if you haven t been there lately.

I made a reservation for a table of 17 people!! The very kind gentleman said on the phone that there would be music!! Then they excused themselves saying it was a holiday they didnt have!! The food is nothing out of the ordinary, like any other Portuguese place, but the price is reasonable!! And in the end you cant split the bill since you didnt do the math separately!!! Ahhhh and I look at the food on the menu, there are no fees, the fees are separate!! Example 1 seafood for 2 180 you end up paying 203.40. A place not to return!! By not saying that you order a Canada Dry, an ice tea etc, and you dont have the right to a can, come in a glass with ice, you dont even know that theyre giving you a drink

We had a group party of about 26 people and the night was amazing great company and great food. The service was amazing. The staff couldn t ask for better people to be serving us. Great job keep it up. We will be having another party soon.

Where to start this review... Im going to give it one star first because I was served poorly, the food was cold, there was no difference between beef and steak (the price made a difference of 10 dollars for each dish), the staff were excellent and tried to solve things in the best way possible. There were employees working who didnt even know how to explain the menu. There was a total lack of organization! We didnt eat anything special, 5 adults and 4 children between 2 and 12 years old with a bill of 415 dollars? The dishes were very poorly served, not to mention the bosss attitude, which was simply deplorable! He still laughed and made fun of us. I wont set foot there, ever again! Terrible service and terrible food!

Worst experience my family and I had on Easter Sunday . Reservations for 1:30 and only got our food by 4:00pm , food was cold and some plates we still had to wait for . I can understand that it s a busy day but as a fine dinning restaurant so you say the lack of communication between kitchen and servers was horrible , and to top it off to double charge on plates and drinks that we didn t have . Wow shame on you. It was my first and last time going into New casa abril taverna . The old owner senhor Barros would never do this . The new owners ( same owners of KAPITAL resturant have the habit of double charging on plates and drinks . Shame on you for doing this to your own community.

This restaurant is truly amazing. The new management and team bring a different atmosphere and quality that wasnt there before. I am so thankful for how amazing they were with my large surprise party for my parents. We used the basement room that has a lot of lighting, bar and private washrooms, which allowed my guests to feel comfortable. The food was fantastic!! Delicious, fresh and tasty!! Recommended for sure. The staff, Ines and Xana were super helpful throughout the night and helped me create a nice set up and flow for the night too. And thank you to Sr. Josué for everything as well and being so accommodating.

We were met at the door quickly and seated at our table right. Everything wAs amazing we started with the Sangria to start which was really good. Appetizers were delicious and portions were perfect. We ordered our main course absolutely delicious and beautifully presented portions were perfect wine was so recommended to order (Carm white or Red wine) or QP Red wine which is amazing wine. Service was impeccable Joanna was our server great young lady beautiful smile and always making sure everything was ok and if there was anything Joanna recommend dessert which was berry cheese cake super delicious and just the right amount. The owner Joshua came to our table to make sure that everything was good sat with us we talked little we had a drink together very gracious person with an amazing personality Congratulations beautiful restaurant will definitely be back and highly recommended (Entertainment was great we danced and had great laughs. New Case Abril has a large dining area, as well as a beautiful open second floor that s perfect for hosting private parties. Lots of large windows and natural lighting, and the room is super spacious so you can really create whatever you d like with your own decor :) After an amazing lunch here and viewing the upstairs room I decided to come here to host my bridal shower, & met with the owners Josue and Adelia. They were incredible! From our first meeting they made it known that they wanted to do everything possible to make the day be perfect, and truly went above and beyond with everything. The menu selection was huge and everything the day of was absolutely delicious- they offered a large range of amazing Portuguese staples, but also went the extra mile and added a few extra Italian staples for my finance s family! Everyone of my guests loved the food so much that they all asked for containers to take some home to share with their families, so I feel like that says a lot :) Service throughout the entire day was also spectacular, the staff were all so kind and fun & really helpful the entire day- we always had everything we needed and the open bar was awesome :D I truly couldn t have asked for a better experience and would highly recommend coming here if youre looking to plan an event or even just an awesome dinner with your family!!

HIGHLY RECOMMEND! We chose New Casa Abril to host my Daughters wedding shower just a few weeks ago and I dont regret that decision for a second. The owners Sr Josue & Sra Adelia together with their staff went above and beyond their duty to make sure we had the most amazing time. The space was perfect for our party of 52 and the fact that we were able to decorate it to our liking made a huge difference. We opted for a Lunch buffet with open bar and, Wow, the food was absolutely delicious! We had many compliments on the variety and food choice. Well done New Casa Abril, we will be back for sure!

Very very disappointing experience. Dry unseasoned chicken, over cooked roast beef with veins everywhere. Next to little food being served. Only one basket of bread per table. Be very aware when having a communion or any sort of party here. This place needs new management again.

I had my sons Baptism this past Sunday at Casa Abril. The service, the employees and the food were exceptional. We had a party of 60 people in the basement and everything went amazing. We had the steak and fish filet and both were very delicious. Definitely recommend having your events and dining out at Casa Abril. Thank you to the Casa Abril team for such a great day! Looking forward to going back!

Terrible! Okay the good thing about the establishment is the location but the food horrible. The steak I got was tasteless it was raw!, I need it to get it cooked again but I didnt see any difference and it didnt taste different either, I left light headed I was sweating to go to sleep I thought I got sick, and that isnt even telling how expensive it was, really expensive. If you are ever going around this part of Toronto and thinking in eating in this establishment, think twice about how youll feel after the food if you want to keep you life expectancy high.

I just discovered the best seafood spot in the GTA and I have to go back because I m not done with the menu. The seafood was so fresh and the flavour was everything. I m from the island and I ve been searching for a spot like this for years. The staff was very professional and welcoming you definitely won me over. Thanks for the great service experience and the best seafood platter!!! Nice indoor dinning area and beautiful patio setup, parking will not be a problem. 5 star

A place whose owner tells the bride, on her wedding day, that if she is not happy to turn her back and leave, she should never receive customers again.

**ATTENTION** BRAZILIAN COMMUNITY, PORTUGUESE COMMUNITY, STEP AWAY FROM THIS ESTABLISHMENT! For those looking to hold events at this location, be very careful not to be SCAMMED like my fiancé and I were! We hired the services of this establishment, where we were charged $150 per person with an open bar. During our conversations, the owner gave us information about the drinks and menu that would be included and did not provide everything he promised on our wedding day. At all times, the owner interfered in our decisions, trying to make his opinions prevail and disrespecting the brides wishes; including trying to decide and interfere in the decoration, which was hired and paid for by us. Therefore, newlyweds, ASK FOR A CONTRACT so you dont go through the same frustration and embarrassment that I went through in front of my guests. I hired the service one way, I explained how I wanted the service to be carried out and he simply did everything the way he wanted, not respecting the moment and the brides day and my dream of getting married the way I chose. My frustration was written all over my face and all the guests noticed. Some even left after 4pm without having eaten the dessert that was supposed to be served after lunch. Frustrated, embarrassed and very angry with the situation, I asked the owner that the service was not in accordance with my request, he shouted at me, as if I were asking for a favor; We paid more than $8,000 to receive 50 guests and I was treated without the slightest dignity and respect on my wedding day, the bride, the hostess and the partys payer. Some guests took me away from him and when I turned my back, he shouted that if I wasnt satisfied that I should leave. Therefore, DO NOT PAY IN ADVANCE AND ASK FOR A CONTRACT! Otherwise, you brides will run the risk of the owner taking your dress and getting married in your place. Since the brides wishes are not met and/or respected. His will prevails. In the end, he didnt stay in place to face my fiancé. Hes only a man to yell at women. And this is just a summary of what happened, if I were to tell you everything, I would spend about three days writing it down. Its no wonder that the house is left to waste, worthy of closing its doors. FIND ANOTHER LOCATION!

All my guests were amazed with the service and the quality of their delicious food . We had lunch today and loved the food. I had a francesinha and the rest of our grou had the cozinho a portuguesa. It was fresh and delicious! Love what the new management also did with the restaurant. It even has a lovely patio.

Casa Abril has lost its shine, we waited an hour and 45 mins for our food. The two star is for the entertainment, he sung beautifully. The service was terrible , never come back to check on us for more drinks.

I have eaten dinners and lunches here, but recently I had a small private event in the basement event space. We had two amazing servers who were constantly checking in with me if there was anything missing or if I needed anything The space was set up beautifully, they called me and ensured the tables would be set up in a way I would like. The food was fresh and delicious. I will definitely be returning. They did amazing my guests loved the food and atmosphere Vegetarian options: They have fish, soups, salads. We rented the downstairs area for an intimate family celebration for our daughters Baptism. Roughly 40 people. The space is the perfect size. It has a bar, bathrooms and speakers to play music. We went with the buffet option for our event and the food was not only delicious but the presentation was amazing! The staff was remarkable and always checking in and made sure to confirm minor details with me which I loved. They were kind, attentive, and so sweet. The owner is also very friendly and made an appearance to make sure all was going well with the event. I will be back to book future events for my family. This was a wonderful experience. Thank you CASA Abril Staff for helping make Chloe s day extra special.

Good food and friendly service

Went with a friend to book a catering event at Casa Abril and we decided to have lunch which was absolute AMAZING! The food was DELICIOUS and the portions are very generous, and the staffs are very friendly! :) I can t wait to the event that my friend booked because I know will be amazing like our visit! Unexpectedly discovered a new restaurant with good hamburgers. There are not only hamburgers, but also other dishes. A little pricey, but its worth it! And nice, friendly atmosphere!
