925 Weston Rd, York, ON M6N 3R4, Canada
Relaxed, down-to-earth locale offering traditional Nigerian specialties & cocktails.
The worst restaurant on earth. Bad customer service, the owner is extremely rude and ignorant. Do not go to this restaurant because they’re very disrespectful
Went there to grab dinner with my daughter last night. Came to find out this morning that I was up charged We had 2 water bottles(1 each). We were charged for 4 water bottles. Was that really necessary? Pay attention to your receipt if you go to this place.
The food here is amazing. I've never had issues with quality or quantity. However, the lighting in the restaurant could be better. I understand that the intention might be to create a relaxing environment, but I think it could be a little brighter. If you're not dining in, it won't be an issue, though.
the owner of the business is so rude. i ordered food that had salt tried to talk to the owner and he simply shut me up no apologies. the man should not be in the business of serving the public. hes so arrogant and acts like hes doing one a favour.
I wish there is a zero star. Very horrible customer service. My husband and I were badly insulted and humiliated only because we complained of being sent the wrong order. We have been customers for over a year now, and each time we always ordered 4 plates. This time, I Ordered 3 plates of goat head (isiewu) via phone call and still sent text message and asked my husband to help pick up for me, only for him to get home and it was something different that they packed for him (nkwobi instead). I called immediately to complain and you can’t imagine how rude they were to me on the phone. No remorse or apology for their own mistake. They asked me to return it same last night at 8.30pm or never. Meanwhile it’s a 45mins drive from me. And I told them I can only return it the following day as it was too late already to drive through the highway. We proposed her sending Uber to deliver the right one and pick up the wrong one since she wants it that night but she was yelling at us that she is not a delivery person. I haven’t been spoken to in that manner since I was a kid. I didn’t know when I started crying (as pregnancy makes some of us really emotional, lol) I finally returned it the following day but I AM NEVER EVER patronizing this place again or recommending them to anyone. No single form of remorse, apology or compensation for the stress, denying me of my craving which I paid for nor for my long drive back there to return and pick up the actual thing I ordered. Very horrible experience that will be hard to forget in a long time.
Pick up was seamless, staff was accommodating and good conversation. Food was properly packed and the price was fair, quantity of the Nkwobi and Isiewu was moderate and the taste was what I expected. I will be going to get more food from the restaurant.
I came here with friends. I wanted Abacha and my 2 friends wanted Bitter leaf soup and Nkwobi. After taking our orders, we were told we will have to wait for 25 minutes for the food to be prepared. We ended up waiting for 1hr 15 minutes. Finally the food arrived. The Nkwobi and bitter leaf soups were ok but the portions were small. My Abacha did not taste nice at all. It was soggy and didn't have enough ugba and palm oil. It was barely colored and felt like a complete waste of my money. The services at this restaurant were poor.
I forgot to take pics in the beginning when we were first served but I decided to still go ahead and take pics when we had started eating (the pics are after we had touched the meal so this isn’t how it was served to us) The food was SO terrible. My date had pounded yam and Egusi while I had goat meat pepper soup, fried yam, fried goat meat and stew. Listen. ONLY the goat meat pepper soup tasted ok, the rest of the food was so bad. Even the stew and Egusi tasted like it hadn’t didn’t finished cooking. The stew tasted like raw tomato paste. Even customer service was so bad. The lady served us like she was doing us a favor. I know for a fact I will not be going back there.
I wasn t sure while the Nkwobi was slimming. Anyways!
Excellent and superb African delicacy and very surprisingly affordable prices
Excellent service and great food.
The food is good, lately the chicken has been getting smaller and smaller while the price getting higher and higher. Im not supporting anymore.
Owner of the business is so rude
Tasty Nigerian meal
Awesome nkwobi and ishi ewu. Very delicious and wanting
I ordered the Meat Okra on this very day of New Year Eve and it was absolutely EXCEPTIONAL, I even forgot to take a picture because when I tasted that first spoon, I was like THIS IS IT! Washed my hands so fast and put on my ancestors attitude and dived in. Thank you so very much for such a meal and love on this very day! Purely a gift that keeps on giving.
Id love is the worst restaurant in the whole of toronto. they have HORRIBLE customer service and even worse food. they trick their customers into cancelling orders on the customer s end, even though the item is sold out on their end. they do this to avoid getting charge for THEIR incompetency. they don t update their menus when items are sold out costing customers time AND money. Very irresponsible and they lack accountability. I am never ordering from them again and i will tell everyone i know to avoid them at all cost. the food fluctuates in quality anyways.
These guys are amazing. The food is great and the man at the front that takes orders is super friendly. Best Nkwobi ever!!
Amazing food and bless service. No complaints.
Great atmosphere, great authentic Nigerian food!
Lovely place, excellent service definitely coming back!
Dine in is finally open again. Loved the food.
The pepper level in their food can kill someone. They should make food normal with mild level of spice unless extra is requested by customer and not the other way around.
I really enjoyed the nkwobi
Good Nigerian Restaurant Kid-friendliness: Yes Food : 5/5 |
Arguably the best Isi Ewu joint in Toronto Parking: Located beside the restaurant Food : 5/5 |
Newly renovated and food is still top-notch. Unbeatable in the GTA and Ontario Food
The Isiewu we bought is heavenly so delicious!!! Will take pictures next time!!
Ive been a faithful customer for a few years now so someone please explain to me how the price of food skyrockets whilst the portion sizes drastically reduce. I ordered jollof and plantain and the rice was half the size I usually get. Like how do you justify charging more for half the portion of rice?! It would be understandable if inflation was the excuse for such absurd price gouging and the portion of food stayed the same but this? This is super low. They sequestered the rice to one side of the bowl when it usually fills the bowl end to end. To top it off their website said it was $17, I drove 1 hour in total just to be told jollof and plantain alone is $20.34! Then I get home to see this travesty. This is why people stop patronizing these kinds of establishments. They start to cut corners and scrimp after a while. Until things get better or improve, Im done with ID Love. The jollof was the only reason I patronized them. Id take my business to Nigerian spots that give decent portion sizes and good value for money.
I ordered Yam Porriage and meat from Ubereats, it has been sometime since I patronized and I was not at all disappointed. The portion was great, My food arrived steaming hot like it was prepared on the way to my location and the spice level = perfect!. Overall, I am always pleased with ID Love. I have been a customer for many years, since before my 5year old kid was born and I have not once experienced any disappointment. Their consistency is top notch. I really appreciate. Thank you so much ID Love for taking good care of those of us Nigerians in Diapora.
The food taste horrible even my children who are not picky could not eat the food. It is really disgusting
Authentic naija food. Prepare yourself for a slow service.
Amazing cuisine and service
The food here is top tier!
Customer service at this place is TERRIBLE!!! Very rude, almost like they don t want customers.
Very calm and cool music and nice staff
Lovely place... Great host and a very friendly waitress... Fine dining
Who ever they have manning the phone at this place has the comprehension skills of a day old infant apart from being a compulsive liar. You have no business being in the food industry because you have no customer service skills and it s echoed in your reviews. Get the help you need woman!
Best african restaurant I ve been to so far in Toronto . Their food is so delicious. This restaurant makes the best soups , isiewu, nkwobi and abacha . Their services is so amazing wish I could give them a 10 star
My visits there have always been met with terrible experiences with a gentleman who seemed to be the owner or co-owner of the place. He is so rude and has no manners. There was this particular day I was there with my friend having dinner, my friend called his attention and tried to complain about the service he got, before my friend even finished talking, he literally walked out on him. This was unimaginable. A person with such character has no business in the hospitality industry, except to do the dishes or clean the floor or any other job other than interacting with customers. I hear his customer base has greatly reduced with the mans unprofessional conduct as the number one complaint of literally everyone I have spoken to concerning this restaurant.
Best Nigerian food in Toronto.Reasonably priced too.
I had a very bad experience, horrible customer service it s disgusting
NIGERIAN RESTO
Customer service suck, too much attitude and an out dated menu which causes confusion when trying to order anything. I lost interest right away and didn t spend a dime.
Ordered fish egusi soup and these people had the audacity to serve me with a fish that wasn t cooked with the soup. Tasted like boiled fish with no flavour whatsoever the egusi also tasted bad. We had to wait 1 hour for this.
Nigerian local dishes at its best.
Very authentic Nigerian food . The owner is alway on site to advice on what to try and the portions are really huge . A little steep pricing but the taste compensates for that
One of the best Nigerian dishes served in Toronto!
Got some good nigerian delicacies. Enjoyed their nkwobi and isu ewu
ID love is a very disappointing Nigerian restaurant. How can you treat customers like beggars? If you guys are too rich, close the restaurant and stop verbally abusing customers.
The most useless restaurant I have ever been to the owners are so aggressive and rude I can t even explain. public health please close it it down. They don t deserve to be open. If there Was zero stars I would give that . The price on menu doesn t match what they charged . If you question it they start to spasm and shout so rude. Never stepping foot here again.
Awful ! customer service.
Just order your food on Uber or something. Customer service / experience is just horrible. Learn to respect peoples time. I ordered my food an hour ahead of time, drove 45mins to this restaurant only to be told they did not start making the food. I had to wait for another hour. Do not support any business that has no zero respect for customers.
They are the best in both Nkworbi and Ise-iwu in the whole of Ontario. I said it.
The customer service in the place is horrible. The so called supervisor does not have phone etiquette, she was very rude and disrespectful. Only asked when they are open to the public, she sounded so cold on the phone, she became defensive, called me stupid and hung the phone on me, when I tried to call back she dropped the call. Its a shame that the owner employed such an arrogant and disrespectful person. I think shes having a bad day but very irresponsible of her to take this out on customer without realizing that the business is operating because of customers. She should be fired
Very good we love it so much we go there so many times
Good place to get tasty Nigerian dishes
Update: I tried them a few times recently. I would give them a 3.5 rating. Not sure if the quality dropped, if my memory was being generous or if it just tasted better in the past because I was with company. Anyways, I got their Oha, Vegetable and Egusi soups, Jollof and Nkwobie. The nkwobie tasted delicious but I havent been in Nigeria in years so I might not be the best judge. It also does not have ugba even when requested. I dont mind paying an extra $1-3 for it. The jollof was good. The soups were just ok. I havent visited in years, Im talking way before C0VID, and plan to order/visit soon. My friends and I came here a lot. Their food was delicious with the most menu offerings and the restaurant turned into a club @ night with great music. Im curious to know what has changed and what hasnt. For soups, my friends always ordered Oha and I always got Egusi. I tasted my friends Oha and always planned to get mine cause it was delicious and reminded me of mkpafere.
ID Love never disappoints
We just arrived for the states and this was the first restaurant we ve ever tried in Canada. They did not let us down!! The man that took our order was friendly and accommodating. The food tasted amazing!!! I was so happy that I left a huge tip! I believe they make the food fresh, so don t come expecting your food to be quick. But the wait was not excessive. Great service! Great food! Will be back!!! My son and my wife loved it!!!
Ordered over the phone the food was ready at the time they said and the food was amazing really enjoyed!! Will order again very impressed
I had given a 5 star review before but after a couple of orders I changed my mind. I would have overlooked but it won t do this business any good. I even called to place an order today and was greeted with a very harsh remark. The greeter inflated the price of pounded yam and kept trying to rush me off the phone, kept talking over me and sounded like my order didn t matter.
Great
I was referred to this restaurant by a friend after eating what they ordered. I ordered 2 hours before pickup and went to the restaurant only to meet a guy at the cashier who was extremely rude to the customers before me which I ignored. Only for me to ask for my order after 20 minutes of wait and 2 hours of order and the guy started going off on me. I had to change it for him and let him know that he should NOT speak to people like that and he disappeared into the background. I would not be returning and that s for damn sure.
Their nkwobi is delicious. Try it and you will become a repeat customer like me :)
Delicious meals
Good taste, Generous portions.
Authentic Afro and Nigerian delicacies Real Good Enjoy
I love her food! But I find it getting very pricy lately! And I find that the authentic local flavour it used to have, I honestly not tasting it as much anymore. And that s why I go their because you used to taste every ingredient. Like the stock fish and so forth and I find the portion of the ponded yam very small.
I ordered thru UberEat (I know, I know) and after waiting for 2hrs!! they canceled my order with no reason?!!! It took you 2hrs to figure out you couldnt fulfill an order ?! 1 plate of jollof with goat meat for $30 ...WELL, now seeing the photos of their portion from others, boy am I glad they canceled my order. So thank you, am going to bed hungry but at least am going to bed richer and wiser - disappointing.
Horrible horrible service. We ordered food with the initial wait time of 35 minutes, we gave the restaurant 50 minutes. Once at the restaurant, we were told an additional 10 minutes to go. When my husband tried to express his frustration the owner told us its either we wait or they will cancel it. His wife starts yelling from the kitchen. I told my husband lets go. Never will we return. Work on your customer service please. I truly wish I could give zero.
The lady that attended to us this evening April 11th,Dami - was very rude. She practically told us to stop talking so that she can talk when my partner was trying to talk to her.On top of that ,our order wasnt placed or prepared.Really really bad customer service.Wouldnt wish an enemy to encounter such !!!
I wish I could give this restaurant a negative rating, I can t even begin to explain the horrendous experience my friend and I went through. NEVER go to this restaurant. No reference to the food but all in the lack or etiquette and customer service. The owners wife is the most condescending, DISRESPECTFUL, and argumentative individual I ve ever come across in a hospitality setting. The cashier is dismissive and used rude hand and mouth gestures as well as slamming my food order on the counter once it was prepared. At this point we refused to take the food and asked for a refund. The refund was denied repeatedly. The Male owner agreed he s staff was inadequate and disrespectful but yet refused to apply the refund. The back and forth that followed was enough for us to leave the food and take the financial loss. No one wants to be treated as such and with that I highly suggest that you refrain from this establishment. I chose my words VERY carefully to describe this experience. It s was worse than I described it to be.
I did take out at this place. I am extremely disappointed with the portion size especially since the soup was $22. It is barely enough for 1 person. It is a rip off, I feel scammed and will NEVER order from them again. I will so make sure others are aware. Waste of money!
This place just needs to just close down!!! The last couple of time I ordered food, was honestly unprofessional behaviour. I ordered my food one hour before arriving. I arrived and they said 5mins waited for one hour and still no food! I rang their little counter bell and the helper girl came out and said 10mire mins waited 15mims more then rang the bell again just for the the wife to come out and say I had an emergency at the kitchen..didn t even apologize!! After waiting for my food 2 hours and half!! Then I got my food hot home and my aguish soup was like I was eating a big bag of SALT!!!! I ordered two decided to try the other one same thing!!!! Bag of SALT!!!! How are people allowed to serve such food here in Canada and get away with it!!! I had to throw every thing out!! That was $45 worth of food!!!! Now this was my last straw I would never go their again!!
Nice nigerian cuisine. Whenever I come to Toronto, I always stopped for a meal
Fantastic
Great food, great portions, great service.
Traditional Igbo food
Nice food
If you re looking for good authentic Nigerian cuisine this is the place to go, however be warned though their customer service is non existent. Service is so slow and sloppy it will make you think of cancelling your order. If you however have the patience to wait 1 - 2 hours or more then you will be good. If there was another place with authentic Naija food, trust me a lot of folks including myself would not patronize this place again.
I wish the customer service and experience could mirror the level of quality of the food. Tasty food but attimes, be prepared for a not-so-friendly experience. And they honestly need to revamp and expand across the GTA. Because they have one of the better tasting Nigerian meals in the GTA.
Services is very poor
This is the most unhygienic, rude, unprofessional, and food taste like garbage, my friends and I went in and we were physically attacked by the cook and sales girl . We called the police on them.. They re so GHETTO , and NASTY DO NOT BUY THEIR FOOD .
It was alright
Nasty customer service
Friendly staff efficient service good quality food clean and well organized facility always ah welcoming staff at entrance
Been going to IDLove for over a decade and they have remained consistent. Great place to go for traditional Igbo/Eastern Nigerian foods and soups
Good Naija foods
Horrible customer service. Literally had the server walk out on us while making our order. This place is horrible
Nice experience
Food was really delicious but the service does not match. Servers are very slow and don t check up on you as you have your meal I would still recommend if your looking for an nice low key vibe kind of atmosphere.
Best place for authentic African delicacies in Toronto.Their Nkobi is #1 in North America.
Sumptuous meals, it made me feel at home.
On Saturdays its the place to be
A nite out here will make you feel good.
Had Nkwobi and it was really good
Great Nigerian food but dont expect good customer service.
Ikwobi is very good. But as usual the customer experience is terrible. The lady serving at night seemed exhausted, then frustrated and started giving attitude. To top it all, me and my friends recieved wrong bill but got sorted out after couple of mins
Food is great but the wait time is something else. Would advise anyone looking to visit this restaurant to call an hour or more in advance to get their order started.
As soon as I went in, I regretted it! Worst service ever!
Best place in town to have a well garnished goat head. Very sweet. The African thing.
order before getting there so you dont have to wait long. food great, service questionable, food will not some at the same time which can be annoying
Authentic African Cuisine, loved their service too
A non stop fun place
Worst experience ever. I ordered a take out pepper soup today. Was told it would be ready in 25 mins got there 30 mins later and my order was not ready. Only for the silly woman to tell me that I must be deaf and I do not understand simple English because my order wasn t ready and I had to return to work. Being here a couple of times. But this one time is enough for me never to return.
I can t love this place any less. The make food exactly how I like food to be made
Good food
Food is tasty it does take up to an hour or more to prepare _ order ahead! Way ahead!
SWEET ENVIRONMENT SWEET FOOD PERFECT TERRAIN
Great food.
The goat head is really good!
Excellent customer service.
Totally love the goat head
Good food, still checking
Great African cuisine, would like to taste higher but the will tell
Good
Best Nigerian restaurant so far in Canada
Very timely...we called ahead and they Said 25min and it was exactly that. Also tastes amazing. Social distancing rules are also being adhered to..
THIS FOOD IS Awesome ! The staff is really hit or miss ... either very friendly or just plain awkward. However we ordered food 2 hours ahead as we live 2 hours from Toronto... and the food still wasnt ready when we got there. They could use a little Time management help, but other than that. Fantastic ! I would recommend this to anyone wanting real authentic food.
Spicy and good
The isi ewu and nkwobi is something to experience, its so nice
Spicy, Rich, Soulful Food
Good food. The Nkwobi was great.
Pepper soup was good
They are too slow at everything. We have been waiting for over 45 minutes for just RICE AND STEW. I dont recommend this place if you are impatient and in a hurry.
Wait was verrrrrrrrrry long, I would suggest to call an hour ahead of time to give them time to make the food. The atmosphere was nice, have a underground vibe, a lot of customers there. If you are looking for something really delicious and spicy as well. This is the place to be. Give the overall Experience 4 1/2 out 5.
Good african food and service
Great food.
Is a nice place
Very good spicy African food.
This is a nice restaurant, the food is good (not super oily) and not very expensive. Waiting time for food is about 20mn
Great food
Super restaurant with tasty African dishes anytime. The place to go!
Food tastes great but service is poor take too long to get served.
Im from East Africa, our foods are quite similar . I really enjoyed eating their food. I can even recommend to my friends going there.
Cocktail bar ready.
Lovely place with cool blend of naija and international music + Yummy nkwobi
This is where I dance my stress out, love this place
I enjoyed the food but in the bar area they play no music so it makes it kinda blah
Great music and African food. Saturday African club is so good here. Great team service
ID Love restaurant never disappoints, ordered over the phone, got in picked up order and food was as always delicious as ever. Definitely reccomend.
Very tasteful food, highly recommended.
Real naij food!!!
The food
Very disappointed in portion size. For $30 takeout, small soup and a porridge. The goat tasted like beef so thats questionable. But what gets me is that with the porridge, we asked for fish. We received a very small piece of a half of tail for $18. I called in to discuss with the owner 3x, with no response. I had to go in to express my displeasure. But the answer I was given is thats the portion size. I wouldnt have been dissatisfied if he charged me $24 and had given a decent amount of meat. But when you order meat you, you want meat. We drove 30 mins out of the way to come get the food. Now Ill drive out of my way to avoid buying from here because I was so disappointed and was told what we got is what we get. After I discussed my displeasure I went to another Nigerian restaurant and got 2x as much food for the same price. On top of it, the Goat tasted like beef. To that, the response was that there are different types of meat in the soup. Whats the point of giving an option.
Trying
Good Nigerian food. Nkobi nice!
The service is so poor, the manager told us to wash our hands because we brought t in our water , he made a scene about it and embarrassed us. They were so rude and were bad with their service. I would never go there again
Omo they chase me out of the place oooo, them get mind. Nonsense and ingredient
If I could give zero stars, i would. I was treated like trash and thrown out while eating after waiting for 1 hour for the food.
Horrible!!!!! Do not recommend!!!!! Dont waste your time and money
The service was very horrible. The pepper soup is good but had to wait over an hour to get our food.
Poor service. Food takes too long to be served and the servers do not have the best attitude. The nkwobi and white rice is one of the best dishes on the menu and the goat pepper soup.
