The beef suya tasted exactly how I like it. And the service was fast
My first time at Calabar Grill and it was a splendid experience. The food was great and Effa was also amazing with her beautiful smile and service.
Absolutely loved this restaurant, I came with my family. The atmosphere is warm and relaxed, and the staff were super friendly and attentive. We had the edikaikong soup and its was full of flavour and very well cooked. The best part was the tenderness of the meat. That’s always so rare. It’s also great to see that the space is wheelchair accessible, so everyone can feel welcome. Can’t wait to come back!
Came here for a birthday, been to many Nigerian places around Toronto, festive and lively place food was good. Will come back with group… ordered pepper soup and fufu(good) shared plate of Tilapia and rice even better
I walked in to place a takeout order. There was 1 customer in front of me waiting for his food. The waitress came out and took my order right away; I asked how she was doing but she seemed already upset and ignored me, so I placed my order. I sat there and waited 30+ mins for my food. The music was good, and there were little kids playing (and fighting). I went during lunch whike it eas empty, so I imagine the night time atmosphere must be really enjoyable. Eventually I got my food and left. I was a little disappointed when I opened my meal. I got the coconut rice with goat, and pepper soup with goat. The coconut rice was a little bland. They only gave me 2 pieces of goat, 1 was overcooked and very tough, and 1 was all skin and fat without meat. They only gave me 2 pieces of plantain which tasted good. The coleslaw was very fresh and good. The pepper soup was very flavourful and had lots of meat. It cost $61 after tax for both dishes, which I felt was a little expensive esp. considering the quality and portion of the meat. I wouldn't reorder the coconut rice with goat, but I'll be sure to call well ahead for the pepper soup again.
This was my 2nd time coming to Calabar Grill. I enjoyed the food so much the first time, I had to come back. We had the Afang soup, Suya and the Pepper soup. Everything was 10/10. Food tasted awesome and the service was very welcoming! There is also a pool table where we played a game while we waited for our food. Service was fast and very satisfying!
Found this restaurant on Google Maps, and I want to give it a shot. Waitress was friendly, great service. I ordered beef skewers and fried chicken and a beer. I finished the beer and food hasn't come out . Yes , it took a bit long, like 30m or so. But I'm fine with it as I'm not rushing to anywhere, lol. Foods was tasty and fresh 5 stars for that. Service is great waitress friendly. Yes, I will repeat for sure, hahhaha
Great food and music, the Tilapia is my personal favourite it never misses, if you like a more quite atmosphere I recommend going earlier in the night or day because it can become noisy when customers are playing pool late night.
Asun was too small for the price as well as the customer service was not good
I love their suya.
Never misses, the only Nigerian spot that has authentic menu with great tasting soups not served anywhere else in the GTA. We were served by Effa and her service was great and timely, took our orders immediately we were seated and food came out sooner than we expected.
Food was delicious. Server Effa was very kind and good. We will definitely come back.
This is the best place to have your celebration with your friends. The ambience is 100%, the food is just the best, your are sure of a timely service, freshly prepared food, the staff are very customer centric I had the opportunity taste varieties of their meal and I must said that All the food tasted very delicious.. I will rate this place 99%
I had a nice experience Vegetarian options: It was well prepared. Food : 4/5 |
I dont normally give bad ratings on restaurants but i must do this..i drove 30 minutes from downtown to get jollof last night ..I decided to dine in because of the scenery environment there even tho i had decided otherwise initially.. Time for payment;Obviously the restaurant doesnt have any pos machine so they opted for e-transfer ..you know some inter-bank etransfer can delay like 30 minutes ..i was shocked to see a security guard keeping an eye on me like i was gonna run away with $36 ..brooo i drove 30 mins ..its 2024 and even mini convenience shops have pos machines ..the service I received was humiliating tho the food was okay
This was my first time here, The vibes was chill, the music was great. I loved it here. The food ( we only ordered appetizers) was delicious and balanced with just the right amount of seasonings. The staff was attentive and super accommodating. Its definitely the right spot for a great wknd hangout.

Parking: I really enjoyed the food with my family. I can recommend Calabar Grill & Bar for other Food
This place has very quickly become my favourite local spot. Iv e picked up, ordered deliver and dined in. The food is just soooo flavourful, fresh and different to everything else around here. The staff is also super nice and there isn t that vibe when you walk-in it s ver welcoming. I m always licking my fingers and excited for the next time I eat it again!
I wanted to try fufu for the first time and I came to this place. I paid 30$ for Egusi soup and Yam. Honestly, I didn t even try it the smell was unbearable. Smelt, bad/sour. The meat was rock hard the fork wouldn t even penetrate the meat. I never leave reviews. This was so bad it has to be said. Not to mention 4 pieces of small meat? Like be foreal.
The food is amazing and satisfying. Plate full
Food was great, remind me like I was back home. I greatly recommend this place.

It was a lovely experience
Good quality food. Attentive and friendly staff. Food mostly freshly made so expect some wait time. Parking: Green P parking spot across the street.

A Must try spot! Loved the ambience and customer service! I had the Afang soup with goat meat and pounded yam and it was so delicious! Food
Just got a nice meal from them and it was lovely. Got the Edikang-Ikong and it was beyond good. Check this place out. Staff is wonderful and shoutout to the chef and the staff. I enjoyed my time there
The food is exceptional here I absolutely love the suya beef the spices are perfect. The server Lydia was great, polite and provided great service. Will definitely return
Great food great service highly recommended
Best Fufu around nice fast service
The only thing good about this establishment is their beef suya. Nothing else. I ve tried their joloff, turkey, pepper soup and many other dishes and was highly dissatisfied with the taste. I decided to order their egusi soup today because I love egusi soup.. the soup I received was very dry and I can still taste the grains from the egusi. It wasn t blended enough and it tasted like sand in my mouth. I guess, I m done with this restaurant. I tried to give them a chance witg the egusi. The beef in the egusi also had no seasoning.
Very clean, food was really go as well!
Kid-friendliness: This place is a family restaurant very clean and friendly Food
They have the most amazing food, best atmosphere and service on Weston road. Pool table to keep yourself busy and fun. I just love this place.
Good fresh food - beautiful, spacious clean interior - good music - friendly owner! Fantastic restaurant!
Authentic Nigerian food, good customer services.
Hi, Food was very good 5 stars Food : 5/5
The best place to eat isi ewu in Toronto
They gat the best juicy isi ewu in Toronto.
Called several times and no one answered the call to get my order. Arriving there I was told the price had increased. Unacceptable service and outrageous price Competitive how? Your price is outrageously expensive. Increases price was communicated to me after driving down to buy your food. Where is the increase notice on Google or anywhere? Rather than do better you want to justify bad service and crazy prices. You certainly won t be seeing me there again.
The food is amazing the vibes are great and the music is good. You should try their wings soooooo good Parking: Lots of space
Good food, good atmosphere but please service needs to be a bit faster. Other than that everything is great
Phenomenal traditional cuisene. 5/5 Parking: Parking available awesome Kid-friendliness: Yes Wheelchair accessibility: Yes

Very nice
Food is always so good here. We come often! Tonight was pool night so it was a nice vibe. And always great music! Parking: After 9 it s free
The food was delicious, flavorful and well seasoned. I ordered the seafood okra with pounded yam. My husband ordered the Edika-Ikong with pounded yam. They give you a large portion of food. My husband needed a second wrap of pounded yam to finish the soup. Parking: Paid street parking
Food and service was amazing!
Best suya in all of Ontario! And don t get me started on how delicious the Edikaikong was! The space was also so clean and beautiful. Lovely service from the lady that helped us decide on what to get and served us throughout the night. Definitely will be coming back many times over!
Love it Parking: Easy Food : 5/5 |

Love this place, tried the suya beef it was to soooo good.
The food was the bomb. Love it.
I have now become a regular at Calabar and I don t even live in the area. They have the best suya wings and suya beef in the gta. The service is always so pleasant I got introduced the other day to the owners of the establishment and they were so pleasant and so thankful for my drive just to pick up Suya wings. Thank you Calabar for the great service and food I just wish you were on door dash and it would deliver to me because winter is coming and we all hate winter roads.
Amazing owners!!! very clean, food are the best n staff are friendly n nice. I highly recommend
This is actually one of the nicest bars at Weston and Eglinton.. they have one of the best burgers in the area...Suya burger. Spicy but NOT HOT spicy. Great mix... Good people. Bartenders appear super hospitable. Great mood in the place, too.

Ooh chim esther was so great
The service was good and the food was good. Esther was so lovely and nice. I ll recommend this place
The service provided by Esther was excellent. She was just exceptional at her service I feelt welcomed and I must say the ambiance is super good.
Bad management and delayed orders. I clearly see no management from the lady and kitchen staff.
So I m here to review the pepper soup. And it s good .. it s been a staple when I been hungover . But I just realized that it s almost basically chicken broth.. (chicken pepper soup) with loads of random leaves. I literally added pepper soup mix to the broth and microwaves it and it became the soup I expected it to be. If you want a good chicken soup that s beyond the European version this is good. But I think it s a stretch to call it pepper soup as it lack the traditional healing herbs pepper soup is about. UPDATE ..!!!! Went again today June 20th I made an order for assorted meat stew and jollof rice so disappointed I got 3 pieces of small dry meat, a spoonful of coleslaw and jollof this was soo infuriating. I ordered take away and I should have opened the box before I left Also the pepper soup was spoilt and tasted sour. I went back to return it and the lady at the counter said I was lying and that they make the soup fresh, which was definitely not the case when I ordered . I have still not heard back from the owner.
I was there eating my food, but I didn t like the way front girl and kitchen staff were managing the restaurant, as there was no cordination with walkin customers and uber delivery orders. They were un necessary making the delay and working casual.
I ordered suya and enjoyed it so i boasted to my husband about this store and told him not to bring suya from Nigeria because there is calabar grill! I just ordered two large plates of suya and got a huge shock! These guys packed only fats and sent it all the way to my house! Hubby has been laughing at me and pitying me at the same time. My son who is a big suya lover and enjoyed my previous orders refused to even touch this one. He honestly said this is not suya and to my amazement turned around. No single lean meat just fat! I rated you 5 star on Uber eats before but I am taking it back! I don t know why I can t rate you there today. Today s order was a total waste of money
We had an amazing time the food was good and so was the service
Amazing food. Our waitress Esther was amazing and a delight! So many food options too and everything was delicious! The quantity was also filling and had no choice but to take a doggy bag. Would definitely recommend
The best Beef Suya Ive had in a long time Chidimma (Esther) was an amazing host/server, the whole experience was really fun. Great place Food : 5/5
Very warm reception. Great service. Excellent service. Fantastic food. Esther Chidinma is an excellent lady. Very friendly and jovial.
Please stay away from seafood okra smell horrible never again tying it.
The suya is incredible! Loved it! And the assorted in the afang and edikaikong was so tender and tasty.
I had a blast Parking: There are few parking spot Food : 5/5 |
Delicious food. Excellent service.
Parking: Paid Parking available plus limited free parking Food
I bought two bowls of peppersoup from here today May 26/24 for my friend and I and it tasted spoilt. Both of us couldn t eat it. I called in to let them know and the lady responded as if I was lying. That peppersoup shouldn t be served to anyone it can upset one s stomach. Please do better.
Good vibes for a B-day party yesterday
Hi my b-day here food was amazing service was excellent my most try their egusi love it here
Lovely place and tasty food. Service was quite impressive.
This used to be my favorite restaurant in Toronto. I always used to order from here. However, the past few months have been disappointing. The food has not been well-prepared and has been stale. When I called to complain, the person on the phone called me a liar.
They are very friendly and the food tasted just like home Would recommend 100% Food
Very good portions and tasty food
Had a great time and the food was amazing! If youre looking for authentic and delectable Afang soup this is the restaurant to visit.
Very cool and comfortable
The place is so clean and got good customer service I do be back here absolutely.
amazing food, amazing staff. Lydia is amazing !
Nice place, good food.
I never leave reviews and I hate to leave a bad review, but this is necessary so that management can fill in the gaps of the inadequacy that I experienced. The atmosphere had chill vibes, but the restroom facility was disgusting and unsanitary. The service was mediocre, the server did not seem well versed in his position and forgot to input part of our order (which was the beef suya). When we inquired about it as we were paying our bill, he said they were just packaging it yet it took another 15 mins to come out. The food was tasteless, we all ordered jollof rice which came with coleslaw that was dry there was nothing coleslawing about that coleslaw the rice was dry and tasted like pepper and a little bit of salt. The chicken and turkey were fried, but were not seasoned so they literally looked like bland fried pieces of meat just as they tasted like it. Lastly, the suya was mostly rather than actual meat and smelled/ tasted spoilt so it was not edible. Overall, it was the worst experience my friends and I have ever had at a Nigerian restaurant in Toronto. Nigerian foods are delicacies and top quality, so to taste the rendition of Nigerian food served here was quite disappointing. Management please review the taste and quality of the food you re serving, and please clean/ check your bathroom regularly between uses by your guests; cleanliness is next to Godliness. I hope you fill these gaps of inadequacies and your business thrives.
I really love the food, it felt like home. The reception was lovely
Nice place
Good and lovely place
Parking: Eazy Food
Superb!
Best food I had there very friendly staff
Had a great dinner here, I enjoyed their banga soup. They also have a clean environment I nearly chop my fingers Comot
Best naija restaurant in Toronto
Amazing food,great reception,and excellent service,highly recommended
I loved it. The food (Afang soup) was really tasty and served in a gracious quantity. The atmosphere was cool and neat. Afrobeats music mix played mostly and the volume could be lowered on request. Staff was professional and helpful. There is nicely done Tilapia fish served with fries or plantain, and then the Catfish is much larger(cost more). At the time of my visit, it wasnt on the menu but could also be made on request if you want that Point and kill Nigerian large fish vibes. It was a really good experience having to enjoy that Nigerian soup again. Parking: There is paid street parking infront of, and opposite the restaurant aswell as a paid parking lot. It was free after 6pm on a Saturday.
The worst experience ever, the food is very bad, not tasty, not fresh at all and also its very expensive. Their customer service is zero, plus and minus nothing. I regret wasting my money on unhealthy food.
If I could give this restaurant an 0star I would. This place is a complete waste of time and Money, we got there at 7:30 and made order for our food, we didn t get our food till 9pm, after waiting for so long, the food was nothing to write home about. The meat was so hard, the sauce for yam was just maggi and crayfish and many more bad dishes with received. t was horrible and we ordered almost ever different thing on there menu. Everything we had was bad and all they put was a lot of maggi and crayfish, you could literally taste the maggi and smell the crayfish from the soups and rice dishes. Honestly I did alot of research before coming to this restaurant for my birthday, I read alot of reviews and I now know that all the reviews on this google has to be fake because with the reviews I read and the food I Tasted was off. I will advise the owner of this restaurant to get a new cook in the kitchen because that person cooking the food doesn t have sense and she s cooking total rubbish, I will also advise people coming to this restaurant to please stay away, don t waste your money and time.
I must say that my experience at this restaurant was extremely disappointing. Despite arriving at 7:30 pm, we were kept waiting until 9:00 pm before our food was served and we had little kids with us, they starved the poor kids and took two hours just to bring out fries and wings for them . To make matters worse, the dishes we were served were far from satisfactory. The poundo yam was cold, the native rice had an overpowering smell and taste of crayfish, the edikaikong soup lacked flavor and was a far cry from the restaurants supposed specialty, given that it s a calabar native dish in a calabar restaurant, the turkey was bland and devoid of seasoning, and the yam sauce tasted predominantly of maggi and crayfish. It was evident that the chefs skills fell short of expectations, and the overall service was incredibly slow. Y all need to change your chef or make him or her take cooking lessons because the food wasn t IT at all.
Their services are on point with a taste of delicious meal
The goat meat pepper soup was absolutely wonderful. And the service was very good too
This place is where to be,I cant imagine that a place exists on western road or do I say in Ontario Toronto. Please come sit down and relax yourself. ITS VALUE FOR YOUR MONEY.
Great African night life kind of
OMG that afang soup was on another level. Enjoyed date night here with dear hubby, the space, the music, the ambience, the lighting, even the food was a whole vibe! Very comfortable lounge and dinning setting, polite staff. The food was well cooked, they were even speaking in Calabar language sef so you know its authentic, with my 35% calabar blood i know they did a wonderful job for what its worth. P.s I had ordered rice, but when dear hubbys soup arrived, I requested poundo and washing hand water, the rice i ordered and the grilled fish he ordered made it home safely with us, but that afang needed to be handled mbò .
This place is SO NICE on the inside and the food is delicious! I ordered the jallof rice and peppercorn soup and it was super flavourful! The soup was too hot for me so the lady said next time I come in I can adjust the spice. I highly recommend and will definitely be back!
I had to leave a review! You need to try Calabar Grill & Bar Toronto, where flavors collide in a symphony of taste. Their suya and plantain dish is a testament to their mastery of seasoning and grilling techniques. Tender beef suya, marinated to perfection, is paired with crispy fried plantain, delivering a harmony of textures and flavors that will tantalize your taste buds. As someone deeply connected to the rich culinary heritage of Jamaica, I can confidently say that this dish is a true gem, deserving of five stars . If you find yourself in the neighborhood, do yourself a favor and experience the culinary delight that is Calabar Grill & Bar.
Customer service was so wonderful!!!
If you want Great Nigerian food and atmosphere this is the right place to be
food is amazing very good and filling and nice reataurant in general 5 star
I m not even kidding when I say this is the best Nigerian restaurant in Toronto. The atmosphere, the food!!! I had the jollof rice and red snapper and afang with poundo yam and everything was perfect. From the taste of the soup to the texture and taste of the rice. I m definitely looking forward to coming back here!!! Service was top notch too! Most certainly recommend.
I went to Calabar grill for a friends birthday dinner. We were about 15 in total, but we didnt call in ahead to make a reservation. The first thing I have to say is the service was INCREDIBLE. Usually African restaurants are severally lacking in the service department, but Calabar Grill is the exception. The owner was so sweet and all hands on. From bringing out our food, to bringing us extra chairs when he noticed some of us were squished on the sofa, to making my friend feel special on her birthday, (free take home dinner, free velvet cake & wine, plus a happy birthday song) I was very impressed. I had an issue with my fried rice and brought it to the attention of the owner. He not only apologized, but he acknowledged the error and took the item off the bill. I could go on and on about the service, but I think you get the drift. Quite often, we go to African restaurants with mediocre food and horrible service, but the food and service at Calabar Grill was so good that I had to come and give them their accolades. Well done to every member of the Calabar Grill crew . p.s. their beef suya is my fav.
This restaurant is the best Nigerian restaurant I have been to in a very long time. The servers, the food and the ambiance is everything to behold. The late vibes and the pool table is awesome as well as the big screen. I always have a great time whenever I visit.
Ordered from here before and it was good in person then i tried uber eats it was hella gross. super grainy and really bitter
A place to listen to Afro music, but above all to taste good food
The Nigerian food was great. And no Nigerian internet princes. Great owners, service and food.. I would 100% come back . Food
I had a great experience here, Wonderful place
Old school bar. Music was good. I enjoyed it.
Delicious food , nice staff . Everything is just 5/5.
I must try there food,It looks like a nice place to eat. The place next to them called One Stop Shop makes really good food. You must try the curry goat.
CALABAR is an amazing place to be and the ambiance is top tier!!! Anyone that is looking for a great night out full of fun and good vibes come to CALABAR!!!
Folks since I found out that they serve peppered cowfoot at this place, that s all I ve been ordering because it is that GOOD! From the first bite the flavour hits your mouth! The gumminess and crunchiness of some parts just make it even better! If you love cowfoot you MUST try you will not be disappointed! If you can t handle the pepper, you can also order it mild. I ve also had the plantain and jollof rice which are great as well! I always do take out. I ve never sat in the restaurant to eat but the atmosphere is welcoming. Nice afrobeats going in the background. Also if you like to play pool there is a pool table there. If I lived closer I would probably be there everyday! Also if you don t want to wait for the food you can call and order for pickup. Everything is done fresh so there will be a 15 to 20 minute wait. Prince I hope you see my review thank you for make such amazing peppered cowfoot! Maybe next time I will try the beef suya and yam fries those look like they taste great! Much blessings to your business!
So I got there around 6.45pm and by 7.15pm I made an order for chicken wings and beer with fries, a friend ordered fish and beer with plantain. Both orders came after about 15mins. So I was thinking; dope service. There were just about 5 people inside at this time. Next up around 9pm, I placed an order for chicken pepper soup and Strawberry Daiquiri. The cocktail took about 1hr and I had to go and meet the waiter to ask how far like twice before it came (they forgot to add alchy to the cocktail). As for the chicken pepper soup; be like they couldnt catch the chicken ooo. I went to the waiter at least four different times and still didnt get the order. I had to change the order to chicken wings to go. It was so annoying cos I waited over two hours and still didnt get the chicken pepper soup I ordered. They definitely prioritise Uber eats orders over in store orders which is just stupid. I even considered placing an Uber eats order just to test my theory but I decided to drop a bad review instead. The wings were nice but the chef is moving mad. 100pc dont recommend for in-store visits.
Food and service are wonderful atmosphere on flick
This is a very wonderful place. Great food with great prices. The restaurant is very clean, lovely vibe and unrivaled quality for money. Thank you so much for the catering service, my guest really enjoyed the delicious food. Parking: Parking at the front and across
Amazing vibe, good music playing throughout, the customer service was exceptional, only thing better was the food
Really good food, friendly service, nicely renovated. Will come back again to try the Suyas. Afang soup was good!
Never had Nigerian cuisine before? Neither had I. Delicious!!!
The food is great... no jokes, I think its the best tasting naija meal Ive had in the GTA, they really know how to cook, not just make food... the atmosphere is awesome, very spacious, clean, with cool music and a nice pool table.
Wooohhhhhh NEW MANAGEMENT??? The best Nigerian Carribean restaurant hands-down. Food tastes so good and such professional and friendly staffs. Highly recommended Food : 5/5
Thanksgiving give away....appreciated Parking: Free parking will attract more customers Food : 5/5 |
I had suya and afang soup with poundo yam last night. Felt like I was home, everything tasted fresh. Thank you so much for bring home to us. A must try place to be.
The food tastes so great, affordable, and has good portions.
My husband brought me this restaurant as a surprise since I love Nigerian food. The vibe was good, the layout of the restaurant was okay and service was decent. The food however was a disappointment, I ordered Egusi which I could barely eat, it had an odd taste/ odor. Also it was a lot of oil on the top of the stew and it was a bit runny. My husband ordered the yam fries with the fish which also had a strange odor and you can just tell the fish wasnt fresh. It was freshly made but the fish must of been sitting in the fridge or something. As an appetizer, we ordered beef suya which was the only meal we enjoyed but even that was basic. We left and found another Nigerian restaurant and enjoyed a nice meal there. I hope the restaurant can try to fix these issues.
Ordered a couple of times. No bad experience.
Always
We are tourist and i was craving for homemade food i Google this amazing kitchen and when I got there , they all treated us like a family we eat good meal prepared by the owner of the kitchen himself. It was really great to eat there. Clean kitchen and bathroom. I recommend this place for any tourist you can never regret it
The ambiance is so inviting. Check it out.
I wanted cowleg cuz that s what I saw on TikTok and decided to tryout, for some reason I chose goatmeat peppersoup, cowleg was not listed on the menu so I ll go again! My other company had catfish peppersoup which was really hot and he loved it, also another person had poundo/yam with egusi.
Food was throughly cooked and tasted good worth every penny service was amazing and respectful would recommend
